Fabulous meal. We had the steak and the gammon cooked and presented well.The staff were friendly. Great atmosphere. Would highly recommend you visit.

This was are first time to visit we where greeted by barstaff with a very warm welcome fantastic service,food tasted as good as it looked we stayed for the full night as entertainment was one Thanks you for a fantastic night

Took the kids here for some dinner. They chose the burgers based on past experience. Tonight, though, the food was not at the races. The "home-made" chips were lifeless, mushy and looked like the were home-made 5 nights ago. The accompanying "coleslaw" was a dollop of soggy red cabbage, the stuff that's left in a jar at the back of your fridge. The burgers were just about OK. We also ordered some fries that were cold and half-cooked. Not even tomato sauce could bring them back to life. Overall, disappointed and we'll journey elsewhere next time.

On the off chance just called in for a couple of pints , had a look at the food menu , not even hungry lol, but I had the small steak pie and the granddaughter had pizza and cod bites of the kids menu Bloody lovely lol excellent value for money and defo go back

Manager is a disgrace spoke to me and husband appallingly!!! Left after 5 mins didn't stay for our drinks she spoke to us actually shouted at us at our table we will not be back. Don't worry you didn't spoil our new year we went to a nicer bar just down the road with lovely staff who couldn't do more for us... Also said we weren't the 1st people to say this about the woman from here! anyone wanting a nice friendly night out avoid here and go 2 seconds down the road to the half moon amazing food/drinks and staff that are polite and friendly. I am honestly disgusted even the table next to us said how out of order the woman was. Happy New year!

This used to be our local for food and drink prior to Covid. It had changed hands so we decided to give it a go at lunchtime. Very disappointed, lasagne was very dry and the topping was hard, homemade chips were terrible. Garlic bread was a slice of toast with garlic butter on it?! No way was that food freshly prepared, in my opinion it looked and tasted like it was reheated from the previous day. Will have to drastically improve before we will eat there again.

Gave it another go as we heard it had changed hands and had new staff. Much better Good friendly service, better menu and much better food !! Try there burger with real onion rings - very nice we'll be back soon

It makes me laugh that they say vegetarian friendly, they have 1 item on the menu which is macaroni cheese with garlic bread. The macaroni cheese was like rubber, you could bounce it on the floor, the garlic bread was a piece of toast cut into a triangle. My husband had a steak which was inedible any son had a mixed grill, he eats anything but even he had to leave some of it. Hopefully the food will get better, but I wont be giving it a second chance after the experience we had.

This used to be a nice place to visit for food or just a drink. The new owners have spoiled it by trying to make it more upmarket than is necessary. They've put the prices up by a ridiculous amount and staff are treated appallingly. Disgrace.

Called in here with my elderly mother to grab some food and have a drink. The 8oz burger was fantastic and my Mother's grilled cheese sandwich was very good. Both served with crispy fries and cracking coleslaw. We shall be back.

We went for Sunday lunch. We've been many times before and it's always been nice. The first obvious change was the staff, all new face, but they were very friendly (to begin with). The second change was the prices; £12 for Sunday lunch which was an increase of about £4. I order 2 adult lunches and a kids meal, with drinks it came to £39 which seemed a lot (and for what we were served it far far too expensive). I never like paying for a meal before it's served as a refund is rarely given. I ordered at the bar, pint and a glass of wine, which i had to help to barmaid with as she couldn't use a cork screw (not a good sign). She then appeared to be about to pour some wine into a pint which another member of staff had poured (should have left then). But we stayed and paid. The meals came and looked ok, served on white, square plates. We both ordered beef. When it came it was 2 slices served with mashed potato, turnip, 1 yorkshire and 2 roasted potatoes, the veg came out a few minutes later. The beef was an odd colour, it was grey and was a bit tough and totally tasteless. The veg looked like it had been stirred around in the serving dish and there wasn't much of it. The mash turnip was lumpy and worst was the thin gravy which tasted sweet; it totally ruined the lunch. The waitress (who was polite and understanding throughout) did ask if everything was ok. We said it was very different from the last few times we'd visited. She asked if it different in good or bad way; we had to say in a bad way. She said she'd take our comments back, which she obviously did as there was no friendly "goodbye" or "thanks for coming" when we left, just a very fake smile from the girl sitting at the bar who couldn't use the corkscrew. Overall it was a disappointment. We have been used to much better and it didn't match previous visits. It might be ok for some but not for us (or another couple sat near by who also had grey beef). Very disappointed our comments weren't taken seriously by the management. Won't be going back.

We went to the Cherry Tree today with my mum who is in a wheelchair and has been in the house for months. We arrived just before 2pm and popped in to ask if serving food as other places around either were closed or didn’t start until 4pm. The lady said the chef finishes at 2pm but she asked and he/she stayed behind to cook our meals. They were lovely too as were the deserts. It isn’t often you come across this type of thing so I wanted to give the Cherry Tree and the staff a big shout out and a big thank you.

How can a small pub try to ask newcastle prices on alcohol, aswell as management selling bottle of beer from asds to profit themself,it will be good to see if the pub reopens and re adjusts its prices as it has drove away some many...

Place is quite clean and tidy our food was average ..fish and chips was ok ...wife had ham and pineapple salad she said was nothing flash ...would we return ??? Maybe

We had the small breakfast costing £3.95. It had bacon, herby sausage, beans, tomato, fried egg sunny side up and we ordered a side of toast . It’s was excellent value for money.

Had a roast beef lunch, the vegetables were fresh and home cooked, tasty gravy, nice roasts and perfect Yorkshire puddings. Extra gravy served at the table too. Desserts were nice, cheesecake was very good with fresh berries. Portions are generous. Service was excellent, friendly waitress...

Me and my partner visited here for lunch over all wasn't the best meal we've had here things go up and down here sometimes it's exceptional and other times it's below average.

My family and i were doing some shopping and decided to go somewhere local to avoid the crowds, and overly expensive food. We decided to try the cherry tree as it isn't that far away from us and looked nice from the outside. Upon arriving the place was spacious and welcoming, and we didn't wait at all to be served both for drinks and food.

The Cherry Tree has always been a favourite but we hadn’t visited since it was refurbished, it is now much brighter and spacious which is nice. Food was lovely, big portions and good value. The thing that really stood out to us was the excellent...

We have been a couple of times for lunch and you can't argue at 2 meals for £12. Sunday lunch was not a disappointment either. With a choice of 3 meats who could complain at £7.95

The Cherry Tree used to be an old favourite for a meal and it’s many years since I have been there. Sadly I have to say that the place is overdue for a total revamp. Exterior and interior are both looking tired and worn. Having said that we did have a nice meal and the staff were very good so not a total loss.

Great local pub plenty of seating. Spotless throughout. Neat and tidy bar area. Toilets spotless. Great food and drink at reasonable prices. We had been told about this pub and thought we would give it a try. We were so glad we did. Bar staff were warm and friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed. The food was piping hot when it came and cooked to perfection. Our thanks to all at the cherry tree. See you again soon.

wont go back!, food terrible frozen chips! ,fish batter thicker than fish worst£8 i have ever spent, got no tartar sauce with meal as advertised. , kiddies burger dried bun dried burger,frozen chips .meals served willy nilly ,we waiting for meals that didnt come an had to ask for them as they missed serving orders, my brother and wife and child ordered onion rings side order which never came??. all the guests at the party left a lot of their food on their plates. be warned overpriced for the quality of service and food!!!

Since the refurb we have been for a couple of drinks and one meal. It’s a much more pleasant atmosphere and the food is fine for the price. Well done on the make over.

Well the family booked a table for a birthday meal. What a terrible choice the place may look nice since refurb but food shocking. 1st waited over an hour then food was not exactly what was stated on menu. Since its take over by heniken menu not as good as before. Mind the waiting staff were very nice. Sorry but won't be back ☹☹

Called in to the Cherry Tree for tea as we were in the area. Nicely refurbished recently and plenty of car parking on site. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, especially James who is so accommodating and helpful. We had some tweaks to the menu to suit our requirements which were carried out effortlessly and the food was of excellent quality and extremely reasonably priced. There's a nice ambience in this pub and the regulars are chatty and friendly. We had a lovely evening, a quick bite to eat turned into a very pleasant two and half hours ! Can certainly recommend the Cherry Tree and look forward to returning.

We visited The Cherry Tree for the cider Festival on August bank holiday. We had a meal which was excellent especially the sharing platter starter which had really good chicken strips in it. The alcohol flowed and we sat outside listening to the live entertainment and had a fantastic day. Thanks to all at the venue.

Me and my family headed to The Cherry Tree for Sunday lunch a few weeks back. When we arrived we tried to order pork dinners all round however they were out of pork. We ended up having the beef. The meat was very thinly sliced, looked grey and tasted how it looked! The whole dinner was barely even warm and was swamped it watery tasteless gravy. The decor is tatty and dated and no options of apple sauce, horseradish sauce or cranberry etc. We I won't be back.

I only live 5 minutes away from the Cherry Tree but I had never gone for a meal there even though my parents had sunday lunch there every week!! My parents invited us out for lunch so we accepted being very open minded about what we were about to face. I met my parents in the conservatory which was warm as the sun was shining, within 5 minutes our orders had been taken and I was overjoyed that they did small meals as well as large as I cannot eat much, we opened a tab so we could order our frinks and desserts if we could manage it!! When my meal arrived it was very well presented and it tasted just as good as it looked, the meals were a very good size even for a small one that I ordered, at the end of the meal there were 8 empty plates and we all had smiles on our faces!! We ordered 4 desserts I ordered the apple and cinnamon crumble with custard and it was glorious, my daughter had chocolate sponge and custard and my mother and niece had syrup sponge and custard. I have been to the Cherry Tree several times since my first visit, week days/nights and at the weekend and the service and food is exceptional, the staff are very friendly and willing to help you out. I would recommend The Cherry Tree to everyone, birthdays, sunday lunches or just to have a quick snack at lunchtime the prices are very good and you definitely get value for money!!

Lovely decorated and clean, Great parking and small beer garden.Food is good value & always lovely.The owner/manager is great and nothing seems too much trouble. Highly recommend for lunch with groups, friends, family or drinks.

I like the starters of prawns in a spicy sauce and the prawn noodles were superb but just a very big portion.

I really liked my visit to the cherry Tree. The food was brill as I had the burger. It was very tender. But the first visit I had my burger wasn't cooked correctly but the staff were polite took my plate away and mad me another one. Whereas the visit my burger was fine. Definitely recommend this place.

Take my brother here for his birthday each year as he lives nearby. The staff are friendly and nice, welcoming but not intrusive, and the menu is varied and extremely good value for money with various specials on certain nights. The food was lovely and their desserts very good and again extremely well priced. Ample car parking. See you again !

My partner and family always come to the Cherry Tree for different occasions! The food is fab' and they have a variety of gluten free options which is part of my diet and it is great to find somewhere that actually serve different gluten free food!The pub always has a friendly and warm atmosphere and Danny and his team are always so lovely and welcoming!Definitely recommend the Cherry Tree if you are visiting the area or live locally!Thank you,Natalie ☺️

As a local family friendly pub, you cant get much better than this. Food is good and very reasonably priced. Staff are all pleasant and friendly as are the regulars. / There is games room with darts and pool adjacent to the bar area. A separate dining area with conservatory. Children are welcome in both areas with a cut off of 8pm in the bar.There is a large, pleasant outside seating area in a walled grassed area that is safe for the children.

This is our local pub and its fantastic. Friendly welcome, friendly staff and very reasonable pub grub. I usually get the mixed grill and its always cooked perfectly and its more than worth the price! If I had one bit of constructive criticism, it would be to do proper chips, only thing that lets it down! Then it would as good as any pub food I've had and would be here every week!

I had Sunday lunch here with family and it was good food and not expensive. I had the large roast pork and sticky toffee pudding. The portions were generous and the food all seemed freshly prepared.

I and my wife went up to Northumberland for a family visit as I come from ashingtonso we went to the cherry tree with my two sisters for a family meal food was good and the price was reasonable a good time was had by all

Been here a few times and wanted to try the new menu. My favourite was the Spaghetti Bolognese but to my disappointment they don't do it anymore. So we both had the fish and chips with mushy peas. Fish was very greasy, no flavour at all, chips were the same. We had a rhubarb crumble and custard to share and that was delicious. The waitress was very nice, very attentive. So disappointed. Bring back Spag Bol! It was the best around. Your not doing yourself any favours with new menu, not impressed.

we go to the cherry tree quite regularly for lunch and as yet have always enjoyed our meals,the meals are hot,well presented,tasty and reasonably priced,the staff are always polite and friendly,there is seating in the main part of the pub, in the conservatory and if the weather is fine,there are picnic tables outside for you to enjoy your meal in the sun,we highly recommend a visit

Just been to The Cherry Tree to try the new menu. Wow - the pulled pork sub with chips or potato skins is incredible. The meat is so tender and full of flavour. The prices are very reasonable too. You need to give it a try. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful as well. Fantastic place to eat.

Went here for my brother's birthday, sat in conservatory in the rain but was very pleasant. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food was lovely. It's not expensive and there is a good choice. Nice outdoor seating area too if you get decent weather. There were cherries on the trees so an authentic name ! Enjoy.

I've been here a few times and I cannot fault the food or the service! The food is nice and cheap and always tastes lovely! I can't wait to sample the new menu! There are just too many tasty things to try! The staff are always friendly and they are more than always happy to help! Good value for money and such a nice atmosphere!

I've had many fantastic meals at the Cherry Tree and I can honestly say I've never faulted it. They have recently changed their menu and have some tasty new additions, whilst still maintaining their good value for money. Always a nice atmosphere, and the staff are polite and helpful!

A very accommodating place, staff are efficient and very willing to help. The food is excellent value for money and I've never had any problems with it when I've visited. The atmosphere is friendly and caters for all, including families, couples, young and old. Quite modern customer service compared to other pubs in the area.

Gave my Mother the choice for a birthday meal out and of all the places she picked this place. She regularly goes and said the food was good. The fact that I left half my burger is proof that its not. I'm a big lad who likes his food, however the burger I had wasn't the best quality and was overcooked. My wife said her chicken was dry and had to put a tonne of mayonnaise on it to make it edible. My son had fish and chips, which to be fair was nice! ( I tried it) Girl serving was lovely and couldn't be faulted.

I called in here with my partner and another couple on Friday 8th May 2015. We sat and ordered our food, I ordered a mixed grill. When it arrived I noticed the sausages had been deep fried and the skin was all shrunken and the sausage meat was hanging out. I asked the waitress to ask the chef to grill the sausages, when the waitress returned she handed me the same sausages with no change !!

Popped in for a drink on the way home and decided to try out some food, helpful and friendly staff and the service was good, food was lovely and will definitly be going back.

This is always out first choice for eating out. Menu to suit everyone with good size meals and definitely value for money, staff are always friendly and nothings a problem even with a toddler.

Went to the cherry tree for my birthday in February with 3 others. Atmosphere was great. We all got a 3 course meal which was lovely! Not over priced but defiantly filling.. Will be returning very soon!

Sunday lunch was dreadful.grey microwaved sliced processed beef.reheated lumpy mash.reheated roast potatoes.lumpy turnip watery gravy..gluten free meal consisted of 3 slices of cold inedible grey kind of beef?3 reheated roast potatoes, cold reheated mash not edible. Lumpy turnip. Absolutely appalling .refused to pay for 1 untouched meal should of walked out immediately we saw the meal!!!!!

This was our second visit to the Cherrytree. We had a lovely warm welcome from the bar staff.The chinese curry was delicious with plenty of chicken. The burgers were lush too with a choice of fried onions.It was a miserable night outside so I opted for the apple crumble and custard and my husband had the toffee crunch pie to finish off our meal.The staff were attentive and friendly and we did not have to wait long for our food.We will definitely paying another visit.

I had a Sunday lunch here back in August for a birthday treat with my parents & it was terrible, it was more like a frozen meal from Iceland heated up & the service was poor too.....not recommended deffo

The service is friendly and good and the food is reasonably priced, however I wouldn't say it was particularly tasty -its very average and doesn't make me want to go back again for food. The last time I went I had a burger and it tasted like a cheap frozen one. I would go for a drink as it is my nearest pub.

Had a meeting with two of my cousins one who was over from the USA .We all ordered different meals off the menu and all were excellent value for money. The staff were attentive and nothing wad to much trouble. I've been here in the evening with friends and always enjoyed the food but this was the first time in years that I've eaten here for lunch. Highly recommended

Iv visited this place for years and can honestly say Iv never had a problem with anything food is great I would pay more my favourites are chicken, ham and leek pie lush or the gammon (which is actually mainly meat instead of a lump of fat which Iv had at other places where iv paid more) staff are really friendly and will go out their way to make sure the customer is happy.Toilets are always immaculate (well the womens are i personally havnt been in the mens) and all the tables are cleared and cleaned promtly. :-)

We visit The Cherry Tree regularly because we know we'll never be disappointed. Tasty food, friendly, helpful staff and real value for money. The lasagne is delicious.

Took a friend for her birthday, and had a very filling, delicious lunch & pudding. Lovely Staff, warm & friendly, nothing too much trouble. Would definitely recommend it to others,and will make a point of going again in the near future. 5hrs on and we are both still full. Value for money and on my favourites list!

I read the reviews on here & thought sounds good must go & try. Who is writing these reviews, the owner? Food like my work canteen only twice the price, frozen chips horrible. Pint & a half of carling larger £4.95. Portions small still hungry after main & sweet. I have had worse but the reviews on here are definitely way off the mark. Dull interior which is a bit run down. Only one staff behind the bar serving bar area & dinning area & two serving food so service a bit slow too. Meals were quite cheap but it just goes to show you only get what yo pay for. 3 stars max & definitely not the 5 stars portrayed on here, that's for sure.

My mum, nephew(sometimes) and myself visit the Tree on a weekly basis, and it is hands down our favourite restaurant in the local area to where we live. We are certainly what you would call "finicky" eaters, and the staff and chef do their very best to cater to any order that we may have. We have frequented the Tree since we moved to the Guide post area in about 1990 (I think), and it has consistently, yet much more so in the last few years been a wonderful family eatery, a pub with good events and a nice atmosphere, cost effective, and full of the most pleasant staff that you could wish to find. Nothing is too much trouble, they consistently go the extra mile, and before you order your meal, say a plain chicken burger and chips and a plain chicken burger with potato skins and garlic dip, if something they use has changed due to supplier issues they let you know first, and ask you if you can tell you what you think, so you feel like part of what is going on which is a big plus. They always remember your name, and frankly, it is the best pub food at the most reasonable prices within a 10 mile radius.If you get the chance, make it your local as they will make you feel wanted, and welcome beyond belief, and I defy you to leave without having a super, filling and to your exact specifications meal!!!!Special thanks go to, as alway, Danny, Joanne, Jackie and the chef, they all make it part of the week that we look forward to the most. We have visited The Cherry Tree many times & we have never been disappointed. Not only is the food very tasty & exceptional value for money the staff are very welcoming & friendly.
