Was served by a lady called Nichola who was lovely very friendly and chatty and told me about all the lunch deals the food I had was amazing I have a fries and chicken wrap hats of to the chief

Excellent service from the staff at the pub and the place is always kept clean. Visited on a Monday evening which was less busy. And the bar man serving me was so lovely. 10/10 service

Excellent local pub for both humans and dogs with excellent real ales and dog treats. Staff are friendly and attentive. Would recommend a visit.

Dropped in after long walk with wife and dog and had a couple of perfect pints and halves of Abbott which is reasonably priced and with Camra discount. Overall pub is excellent with attentive staff and spotlessly clean although needs some tlc paint wise. Would add dog enjoys his visits with free water and treats available. Visited on way home from another long walk. 5th October 2024.Enjoyed several pints of Abbott in perfect condition and very reasonable price with CAMRA discount. Well worth a visit with three cask ales on sale. Congratulations to all the staff who have made this a local treasure.

This place has the best Sunday roast in town! We come here almost every weekend with the family. The cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff make it a perfect spot for a relaxing meal. It’s also very family-friendly, and the icing on the cake is the free, spacious parking!

It is an great place with good food with huge portions lots of options, It has a good atmosphere is well kept and clean, and best of all the staff were very friendly and genuinely seem to enjoy working here. I came here on a on a different day and again the staff were really happy, chatty with great humour and energy.

Bit loud for a meal unless you like hearing people, that sound like Peggy Mitchell, screaming at their kids. You also have to go to the bar to order food, which is a bit like McDonald's. No sports where on either.

Lovely staff all friendly! We often go along for the Rock and Roll bingo - great fun! The Quiz is also a good night out too. As for food we especially enjoy the burgers and flatbreads. And for a night out with the girls ‘Fizz Friday ‘ is a big hit!

Had a great time at The Chequers! Friendly staff, great entertainment - they do a weekly quiz and music bingo. I went to both (Tuesday and Thursday) and had so much fun. The staff have been great with my daughter! Will definitely be my regular local pub!

An excellent local with good choice of beer and food. We had fish and chips, scampi and chips and a couple of Abbott ales, all for under £30.00

We visited on Friday evening for dinner. The employees were friendly and helpful, however the food was disappointing. I ordered a starter and 3 mains just after 7pm. One of the mains was for my 2 year old. By 7.45pm, the starter hadn't yet come out. We asked the waitress and she said it will be out in 5 mins. The starter came out at roughly 8pm. By this time, my toddler was very hungry. Luckily we had brought snacks with us. I had to chase them again for the 3 mains that still hadn't arrived after an hour had passed. Once the food arrived, it was average at best. I think this place is fine for drinks but I wouldn't recommend it for meals out with your family. The venue was about 1/3 full with customers. One other thing to note, whilst we were waiting for our mains, the waitress said that children aren't allowed on the premises after 9pm. I told her we would have left by now but we were still waiting for our mains to come out...

Just had the roast dinner at The Chequers and it is well worth it! Great portions, delicious and very promptly served. As always, the staff are very welcoming and friendly, especially Sarah! 🥰 I would highly recommend this wonderful pub, which is also Dog friendly.

Table ordered 4 of the same dishes (within 10 minutes through the app), 3 came correct and the other came without half of the ingredients. Was down to them running out, yet all the other 3 were overfilled with the missing ingredients. Asked if they could swap or add extra and told us we would be charged extra. Food was decent quality for the price just poor kitchen organisation.

Lovely pub. They got us quite a large table at short notice on a Friday night and even though they were busy, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great we stayed for dessert and weren't disappointed. The cheesecake was particularly delicious. We will definitely come again 😃

Went on father day, managed to book a table with front row seats to the England game! Customer service was on point and made our evening, love the order at table app.

Food was higher than average, but good value overall. Place didn't really have an atmosphere, just kinda felt uncomfortable. Mayby if it was busier it would've been better.

This is the first time that i have set foot in this pub for over 20 ysars and me and my 88 year old Dad were pleasantly surprised. Fred behind the bar was very pleasant and chatty which made for a very enjoyable afternoon. We had the burger, chips and onion rings which i can honestly say was fantastic. They have a very good range of beers and food and have football on the box. We will certainly be back and im sure ill have that burger again. Hopefully I will see you there as well.....

Very welcoming public house with fantastic staff, especially Eliza who is the epitome of service with a smile. Fred is alright too as we support the same football team - the best team in south east London !..all staff are excellent and the beer is always great. If ur passing, make sure you visit The Chequers.

I enjoy the Ambience of 'The Chequers' and the attentive, friendly staff. I have been attending this establishment for 8 years and have always found the staff to be ultra-efficient, friendly and most courteous. The Public House boasts five large TV sets which are dieal for watching Sport in general, Football, Rugby and Formula 1 Motor racing. In addition the Pub shows Horse Racing from all over the UK and Ireland, particularly Monday - Friday's.

We regularly visit this pub for food and it’s excellent. Our most recent visit on Mother’s Day was fantastic and I highly recommend the Sunday roasts here. The staff are absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you and on the rare occasion something isn’t right they bend over backwards to correct it. My son absolutely loves it in here and it’s always such a lovely atmosphere.

Had a lovely meal for Mother’s Day. Table of 10. Service was first class and food was lovely. Most of us had the roast duo. The mums were happy with their free drink which was a lovely touch. Will be back for sure

We had a table booked for 5pm, which was good, as the football match was just finishing! Prompt service from the waiting staff with menu's and advice on what wasn't available. The food was great. Any drinks were added to our bill at the bar.

We live locally and come here quite often. Great pub with great food and great staff! Never been disappointed and whenever we have friends or family around, we always bring them to the Chequers.

Recently visited forward meal with friends due to it being recommended and I'm sorry to say the food was SHOCKING!!! Served cold and not completely cooked, it was horrific. Chefs attitude stinks too. However, barstaff were lovely, very apologetic and welcoming. Would return for drinks but not food !!

Very friendly and helpful staff. We ordered burgers on the 2 for 1 deal. Staff adapted the burger to meet our dietary needs. Both burgers were delicious, will definitely order again.

This used to be the pub I frequently visited but I moved last year. I came to visit a friend and I recommended to go to the chequers as most of my previous experiences there have been great. We was not disappointed, the Sunday roast was even better than I remembered, perhaps a new chef? The presentation was excellent I went for the roast beef and it was delicious, I was served by a lady I’ve not previously seen before who was simply amazing! She was so friendly, helpful and attentive, I recognised the gentlemen behind the bar and he’s always been such a happy guy. I see the management is still the same and I am glad as this place really does provide great food and such lovely staff.

We held a wake for our very dear loved one yesterday as this was his drinking place for over 20 years. We were expecting 50 people, but the pub was full to bursting! We had pre-ordered food, but need more! The utterly fantastic staff rose to the challenge and we had i food of chicken, chips, salad, wraps and sandwiches and so much more. This was all done with efficiency and good humour. Thank you all so much for a wonderful afternoon celebrating and remembering our dear loved one. You were fantastic!! xx

I can honestly say, it's been one of the best roasts I've eaten in Avery very long time! And what an atmosphere! Good beer and The football on as well!

Our party was 2 vegans, 1 senior & 1 dog. Very dog friendly & the service was also very friendly. Good choice of vegan food - we loved the corn ribs & chicken-less tacos for starters, the beyond burgers for mains & vegan chocolate torte for dessert. Senior deal was £6.99 for 2 courses - she had scampi & then the apple crumble. All good was very tasty & great value for money.

We had a wonderful birthday here for my sons 8 th recently, the food was cooked well , it was clean comfortable and very affordable. The staff were very friendly and we had a really nice family day out ! Great little pub a must try if your in the area .

We arrived at the Chequers after being rudely treated at the local carvery, who usually insist that no booking is necessary on a week day. We needed a table for 8, we were accommodated straight away, the staff were accommodating and friendly. Food was lovely with lots of options available, we will definitely be back.

Great quality food, plenty to choose from, kids menu, all reasonably priced, friendly helpful staff.

The pub has an olde-worlde look from the outside. There is a decent sized car park and small beer garden. The ambiance of the venue was more football-pub than gastro-pub. There was sports on the TV when we were there. Staff were friendly and we were served quickly. The menu featured the standard selection of pub dishes - hunters chicken, fish and chips, lasagna, etc. Our food was vile - boarding on inedible. In summary: non-pretentious drinkers pub that serves low cost / quality food.

We came for Sunday lunch. We ordered the turkey roast, it was the best we’ve had there. A big shout out to Sally and Clive in the kitchen. Also front of house staff Fred, Phoebe and Tim excellent service.

Great experience, friendly staff and lots of vegan options

A return visit on Friday 28th lunchtime, this time bringing my grandchildren. Another pleasant experience. Unfortunately there was no ale on draught however the young lady did offer an alternative. Some things can’t be helped. Compliments yet again to the chef as the food was as excellent as our previous visited. Noted, extremely well presented, all fresh and served to us with a smile. Again we shall be returning.

I have visited myself this place but have not had a meal here. I came on 27th Tuesday evening with my family. The manager as I believe was kind and showed us to a table, but there was no table service. My partner and I ordered steak medium rare and our grandchildren the child’s menu. A lady behind the bar did point out they could have extra but they chose not to. A very good service. Our food was lovely, compliments to the chef he definitely deserves it. The steak was delicious. Highly recommend this haunt.
