Great little pub, nice crowd, good food.

Lovely service. Decent food. Reservation is recommended as it can get quite busy especially on Sundays.

This is the first time that i have set foot in this pub for over 20 ysars and me and my 88 year old Dad were pleasantly surprised. Fred behind the bar was very pleasant and chatty which made for a very enjoyable afternoon. We had the burger, chips and onion rings which i can honestly say was fantastic. They have a very good range of beers and food and have football on the box. We will certainly be back and im sure ill have that burger again. Hopefully I will see you there as well.....

Staff are friendly and helpful but it's let down the by food .

Nice pub. Useful that there’s onsite parking and they do food during the day. Nice selection of drinks and some good offers on multiple meals.

Very welcoming public house with fantastic staff, especially Eliza who is the epitome of service with a smile. Fred is alright too as we support the same football team - the best team in south east London !..all staff are excellent and the beer is always great. If ur passing, make sure you visit The Chequers.

I enjoy the Ambience of 'The Chequers' and the attentive, friendly staff. I have been attending this establishment for 8 years and have always found the staff to be ultra-efficient, friendly and most courteous. The Public House boasts five large TV sets which are dieal for watching Sport in general, Football, Rugby and Formula 1 Motor racing. In addition the Pub shows Horse Racing from all over the UK and Ireland, particularly Monday - Friday's.

We regularly visit this pub for food and it’s excellent. Our most recent visit on Mother’s Day was fantastic and I highly recommend the Sunday roasts here. The staff are absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you and on the rare occasion something isn’t right they bend over backwards to correct it. My son absolutely loves it in here and it’s always such a lovely atmosphere.

Had a lovely meal for Mother’s Day. Table of 10. Service was first class and food was lovely. Most of us had the roast duo. The mums were happy with their free drink which was a lovely touch. Will be back for sure

Grew up 2 minutes away from this pub. Moved to the other side of the world and have to visit every time I come back for pure nostalgia 😄

We had a table booked for 5pm, which was good, as the football match was just finishing! Prompt service from the waiting staff with menu's and advice on what wasn't available. The food was great. Any drinks were added to our bill at the bar.

We live locally and come here quite often. Great pub with great food and great staff! Never been disappointed and whenever we have friends or family around, we always bring them to the Chequers.

Recently visited forward meal with friends due to it being recommended and I'm sorry to say the food was SHOCKING!!! Served cold and not completely cooked, it was horrific. Chefs attitude stinks too. However, barstaff were lovely, very apologetic and welcoming. Would return for drinks but not food !!

Very friendly and helpful staff. We ordered burgers on the 2 for 1 deal. Staff adapted the burger to meet our dietary needs. Both burgers were delicious, will definitely order again.

Great local pub! The staff are incredibly friendly and always make you feel welcome! I had a great experience with Eliza and Jess who were always on hand to ask if there was anything else I needed. Great service, family and animal friendly and an all round good vibe. Keep up the good work. J

This used to be the pub I frequently visited but I moved last year. I came to visit a friend and I recommended to go to the chequers as most of my previous experiences there have been great. We was not disappointed, the Sunday roast was even better than I remembered, perhaps a new chef? The presentation was excellent I went for the roast beef and it was delicious, I was served by a lady I’ve not previously seen before who was simply amazing! She was so friendly, helpful and attentive, I recognised the gentlemen behind the bar and he’s always been such a happy guy. I see the management is still the same and I am glad as this place really does provide great food and such lovely staff.

We held a wake for our very dear loved one yesterday as this was his drinking place for over 20 years. We were expecting 50 people, but the pub was full to bursting! We had pre-ordered food, but need more! The utterly fantastic staff rose to the challenge and we had i food of chicken, chips, salad, wraps and sandwiches and so much more. This was all done with efficiency and good humour. Thank you all so much for a wonderful afternoon celebrating and remembering our dear loved one. You were fantastic!! xx

Me and some friends went here last night for our xmas meal,it was lovely, the staff were so welcoming,the table was laid lovely with crakers and a little gift box each,processco was half price on a friday!! I had one the most amazing roast dinners here today! A great portion, great taste! I couldn't ask for more! The staff are friendly, helpful and so polite!

Our party was 2 vegans, 1 senior & 1 dog. Very dog friendly & the service was also very friendly. Good choice of vegan food - we loved the corn ribs & chicken-less tacos for starters, the beyond burgers for mains & vegan chocolate torte for dessert. Senior deal was £6.99 for 2 courses - she had scampi & then the apple crumble. All good was very tasty & great value for money.

We had a wonderful birthday here for my sons 8 th recently, the food was cooked well , it was clean comfortable and very affordable. The staff were very friendly and we had a really nice family day out ! Great little pub a must try if your in the area .

We arrived at the Chequers after being rudely treated at the local carvery, who usually insist that no booking is necessary on a week day. We needed a table for 8, we were accommodated straight away, the staff were accommodating and friendly. Food was lovely with lots of options available, we will definitely be back.

Great quality food, plenty to choose from, kids menu, all reasonably priced, friendly helpful staff.

The pub has an olde-worlde look from the outside. There is a decent sized car park and small beer garden. The ambiance of the venue was more football-pub than gastro-pub. There was sports on the TV when we were there. Staff were friendly and we were served quickly. The menu featured the standard selection of pub dishes - hunters chicken, fish and chips, lasagna, etc. Our food was vile - boarding on inedible. In summary: non-pretentious drinkers pub that serves low cost / quality food.

We came for Sunday lunch. We ordered the turkey roast, it was the best we’ve had there. A big shout out to Sally and Clive in the kitchen. Also front of house staff Fred, Phoebe and Tim excellent service.

Great experience, friendly staff and lots of vegan options

A return visit on Friday 28th lunchtime, this time bringing my grandchildren. Another pleasant experience. Unfortunately there was no ale on draught however the young lady did offer an alternative. Some things can’t be helped. Compliments yet again to the chef as the food was as excellent as our previous visited. Noted, extremely well presented, all fresh and served to us with a smile. Again we shall be returning.

I have visited myself this place but have not had a meal here. I came on 27th Tuesday evening with my family. The manager as I believe was kind and showed us to a table, but there was no table service. My partner and I ordered steak medium rare and our grandchildren the child’s menu. A lady behind the bar did point out they could have extra but they chose not to. A very good service. Our food was lovely, compliments to the chef he definitely deserves it. The steak was delicious. Highly recommend this haunt.

Who I can assume is the current landlord has no social skills. All he is interested in are his regulars and anyone else he treats with indifference, especially, it appears black people, as actions speak louder than words. Hardly any encouragement to return. The Chequers...

Visited yesterday, had not been there for almost 50 years. Had cocktail. I thought it a bit run down. I sat in a nice snug area with old oak beams. It seemed to be patronised by people who sometimes uttered strong language.

Staff great but music too loud to have a conversation

My husband and I have been here several times now and I must say we've never had bad food yet. Booked a table for six on Sunday 24th April and took my mother and father inlaw and my son and his girlfriend who are both vegetarian/vegan. All meals were excellent including the veg/vegan meals. All were very tasty and hot on arrival at the table. Same with the desserts and coffees. Staff always polite and friendly. Must mention one more thing, booked a table last Christmas and forgot to leave a review. What and excellent afternoon we had. When it came time for the mince pies, we were so full we just had coffees. The mince pies were put into a box to take home to eat later that evening. Would definitely do it again. Many thanks to everyone at the Chequers for great service

It’s a decent pub, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I got a cod a chips for my main which was nice but I thought the cod was watery. My husband and myself highly recommend our local pub for the amazing food and atmosphere. They also have a new barmaid called Gemma who is so friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much for any of the staff.

I have visited the Chequers twice recently. We needed somewhere that was accessible for my Mum who is in a wheelchair, and somewhere her friends, who had travelled from West Sussex, could sit, chat, relax and enjoy a meal. On both occasions all of us were impressed with the food and a enjoyed our meals which were hot, fresh and well prepared. The pub has a nice aesthetic and certainly looked beautiful at Christmas. The staff are super helpful and attentive. We all enjoyed it and hope to be going back soon.

Wow what can I say, we came here today for a family birthday meal. There was 15 of us bar staff very friendly and so happy to help well organised. 15 different meals with few adjustments and everything was spot one. All food cooked perfect...

Went here this afternoon for the first time to meet my Daughter’s partner’s Mum. We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere in the pub. The staff were very friendly and very polite. The manager is a very pleasant person too.
