The portions were generous and the steak and ale pie was tasty. However, one of the party had the fish and chips and was not impressed, hence the 4 star review. The staff were attentive. Would return.

Had a fabulous tasty meal at the Chequers Oh my so much delicious food. I’m afraid I still made room for some cheesecake which was also delicious. Lucky me. So pleased the landlord has been able to get his thatch replaced.

Have been hoping to dine at the pub for a few years and finally got around to going but we were most disappointed so won’t be returning. We came for a meal and ordered our meals three were ok (but not great for the price) the fourth (beef lasagne with a whole garlic bread baguette that was not pleasantly presented) was not, it didn’t look or taste right (we all tasted it) it just seemed to very wet and full of liquid (possible cream). So we got it sent back and then were rushed into selecting another meal the Chequers roast chicken salad. Which just turned out very badly presented with full (not cut up) lettuce leaves and chicken on the born mixed in the the salad like it was from another meal. We then gave up and when the waitress returned we complained and then the chef/owner came out with a attitude saying that was how salads were done and no details on the menu suggested it was bornless chicken. He walked off and when asked if we get any reduction his reply was “no you will pay the full bill” The bill then had additional chargers for the omelette fillings that were not stated on the menu. After further complaints, the chef/owner removed these charges but no additional reductions are offered. For most restaurants/pubs/cafes where I have received one poor meal I would try again however I will not be returning ever again as we all were most disappointed and shocked by the service and very rude chef/owner.

A lovely thatched pub in a secluded area. A good menu selection with good size portions. Attentive staff, however seemed to be a slight issue when asked to split the bill.

We recently visited the restaurant to celebrate our Mother's 90th birthday. With a variety of dietary requirements, we have often been disappointed with the food that we have been served in other restaurants. However, at The Chequers Inn, the Chef took it upon himself to make sure that we were all completely happy with our meals. The food was fantastic and the service exceptional, the Chef even came out during our meal to make sure that we were happy. We shall be returning. Well done and thank you.

Nice lunch, choice of standard menu or smaller potion lunchtime menu. Pleasant staff and atmosphere. Wasn't busy (Tuesday) and the very quick service reflected that. Worth a visit

Went in on Sunday. Very sad that there were no other customers in such a large pleasant pub. Had a nice Guinness but no food was available.

It's a really nice pub with great food. It feels like a restaurant but a nice place to stop for a break and indeed grab an amazing meal! Burger was great, by the way!

Stopped for a meal on the way to the coast with some friends. We had never been to Thetford before but saw this on the way. We were immediately greeted with a smile at the door and the restaurant was pristine. I had the Crispy chicken sandwich. It was presented perfectly and fries were nice and hot. The staff were all so friendly and knowledgeable when we asked what was included in some of the dishes. Couldn’t recommend more highly! For sure the best place to eat around the Norfolk area!
