Came to Cambridge to meet friends from Hong Kong, looked up traditional pub and came up with this one. Went for a look in the afternoon, greeted by friendly bar staff, had a drink in the snug, even acknowledged us leaving. Went back in the evening with friends and once again greeted by friendly staff and customers, made to feel so welcome, even in a busy pub. Makes me want to come back again to spend longer there. Thank you for those smiley faces :)

The pub is quite small, 2 rooms. The side room has a very small snug/alcove for 2 people. Staffare friendly. Well kept real ales from thee Greene King Stables.

Popped in with a couple of friends on Saturday evening. We were stood at the bar having a drink. The barman then kept asking us to move. We were fine with this until I realised he was just doing it so a group of his friends could sit at the bar. So we basically being pushed about to keep his friends happy. There are plenty of great pubs in Cambridge so why bother take the risk with this one

My wife and I decided to do an impromptu bar crawl (we only did 4 pubs before she was tuckered out), we hit upon this pub late in the evening, we met a couple of American dudes (Todd and Greg) one of whom had a 'travel' guitar, so we had an impromptu sing along belting out numerous classics like The Killers Mr Brightside. The staff in there were fun and friendly, plus this pub is the community pub of the year in Cambridge!

I love the Champion of the Thames. I was introduced to it by a friend who is a local. Small, cavernous with a lot of charm. Watched some of the world cup games here whilst visiting recently. Fantastic staff and a really fun atmosphere.

We decided to walk a little way out of the city centre and discovered this wonderful gem . No frills , just good beers and lovely hosts . Will be one to go back to when I go to Cambridge again.

Cosy pub with open fire serving a good range of beers and wines etc. They also do some snacks like sausage rolls and pork pies. They'll also let you by a sandwich from a nearby shop and bring it in to have with your pint! They do some events like quiz nights and you get a good mix of people in here- students, workers etc.

We learned about "The Champ" while we were waiting for a bus and someone at the bus station recommended it. The publican was very friendly and chatty. It was warm with wood inside and they had great pork pies on the menu as well. Very small and intimate. Great experience.

Move away from the Wetherspoons Regal, within reach of the bus station is a gem of a pub, small friendly and well used with plenty of real atmosphere. Worth seeking out, as are other nearby pubs which outnumber the city centre ones.

A lovely pit stop on the way back from Addenbrooke's appointments for the last couple of weeks for us. Perfect coffee (and I am fussy!), breakfasts and sandwiches with a cosy, relaxed atmosphere and good old fashioned friendly service. Thank you so much, it was just the chill out we needed after each treatment and the cooked breakfasts went down a treat because he couldn't eat until after each appointment. I particularly recommend the chicken tikka toasted wrap with mint mayo! The Coffee House is the perfect example of why an independent deserves to thrive in the face of identikit national coffee chains/drive throughs everywhere. Lovely to see how much a part of the local community this place is too. We shall be back!

Food and service were ok and prices reasonable, but this is very much a local boozer and customers were a little raucous. Good value.

Nice place, but coffee too bitter... They need to learn from hot numbers, dulcedo, etc .. or re assess where they source their beans or who is roasting them. Room for improvement
