Nice little eaterie , food was good but it was let down by a slightly dour waitress / hostess

1st and last time in this place, what terrible food,very cheap food but very expensive, the bacon had been microwaved and could not be cut nor eaten, but you could break it in half, the toast was plain white bread that had only seen the toaster for a few seconds, left most of it, AVOID

I visited with my partner and it was pretty amazing. Both the steak and hoisin duck stir fry were incredible. Very friendly and attentive staff too. :)

Lovely little find. Food was delicious…… although be aware the portions are huge!!! Would order something to share next time but would definitely go again if in the area

amazing!! such a lovely place, warm homely atmosphere, high quality food and attentive service, all 3 of me and my friends were hugely impressed and satisfied, we ordered potato skins and a sticky toffee pudding (cant stress enough how good this was) and the portions were perfect as well as being fairly priced!! will definitely be coming back, although the place is small it’s super welcoming.

I regularly come back here when I visit Guisborough because the staff are always so friendly and welcoming and make me feel at home. I usually just have a coffee and a cheese scone whilst shopping, which are both excellent, but the menu and the food I see being brought out looks lovely. Great place!

My wife and I decided to give them a try one Saturday lunch time. We were cheerfully greeted on entry. Questions about the dishes helpfully answered. A slight change to the dish was made for one of us. Meal well cooked with great quality ingredients. Staff were all friendly, polite and helpful. We complimented them after paying the bill and they were so pleased!

Worth diverting to for breakfast

Ended up here after our first choice of café was too full and had no good stuff left. Honestly, that turned out to be a blessing. Managed to get in and squeezed on a small table. Once the helpful staff member had taken our order, a bigger table became available and another staff member asked us if we wanted to move which we gladly took to avoid clashing elbows. Between us we had a club sandwich, mushrooms on toast and a chicken, bacon and brie panini. There were 3 clean plates at the end because the food is so good. All hot, fresh and tasty. A bit hidden away down a side street but well worth a visit and we'll be going back at some point soon I'm sure.

Beautiful little bistro esc dining space in the heart of Guisborough. The service was quick, polite and all round pleasant. A very laid back atmosphere and the desserts here I can say are magnificent as well as the milkshakes 🤩 100% worth a visit if you are in Guisborough and very student friendly as well unlike some establishments.

Lovely food, choice a bit limited if you don't eat meat. Freshly prepared food so takes longer. Family run business. Parking isn't great.

Needed a nice cafe to kill some time after taking my daughter to the dentist. A local recommended here. Perhaps the decor needs a little refresh, but it didn’t matter, the welcome was warm, the food lovely and we really enjoyed our quick stay. Thank you. Shocking is all can say!!! Only wanted drinks but the waiter said if you want quick food the tapas would be the option for us. Took our drinks order then walked off. 35min later with our drinks he took our order after we told him what we wanted. Then we sat there for another 45min for potatoe skins and a so called bruschetta that looked more like a pizza from a microwave meal. Understand if they where busy, but with only 4 other people in the cafe. They where more bothered about there phones been on charge!

After reading a one star review claiming the breakfast was abysmal I had to admit I was apprehensive as I took my seat by the window. But, as I took in the old timey atmosphere and perused the Cats Whiskers menu that anxiety quickly dissipated into eager excitement looking forward to the meal that awaited me. I ordered the Whiskers Full English Breakfast, accompanied by some tea (we're in Yorkshire so anything else would be blasphemy) and a bottle of coca-cola. The meal arrived quickly and with a smile. The plate of food consisted of 2 fresh farm eggs, 2 rashers of English bacon, 2 mashams sausages, half a tomato, a doreens black pudding, hash brown, beans and a slice of white toast. A hearty meal indeed. I tackled my eggs first, breaking my slice of toast in half with a satisfying crunch. With the toast I attacked the yolk, they were perfectly runny and golden. The taste was perfect. The tomato could have perhaps done with a little more grilling and the bacon wasn't as crispy as I would like but giving it was English bacon and not the thin streaky rashers I buy myself this can be excused. The standout part of the meal was the delicious sausages. I don't know what differentiates a marshams sausage from any other, but I know the taste was impeccable and they had a satisfying bite. Perfect to mop up the rest of my runny eggs. All in all the Cat's Whiskers offers an outstanding breakfast service that I can't help but recommend.

Lovely food. Very tasty. Fair prices. I have been twice. The first time we left as nobody came to serve us drinks after 10 minutes or so, the second time more recently was on a quiet time of the day. Lovely brunch. Had a bit of a laugh with the staff. Also pinched a lovely sweetie from the counter. (these are likely served to guests with the bill I typically suspect.) Clean toilets. A little limited for wheelchair access as entrance is up a step and a little tight inside but I'm sure it could be accommodated for if asked. Looking forward to next breakfast /lunch. The chicken salad was lovely - the dressing was very nice.

A local treasure. Food is always great, better value than the wetherspoons and far higher quality! Great hot drinks and deserts too. Staff are fantastic.

Terrible terrible breakfast. Meat tasted like it had been microwaved. Black pudding advertised as Doreen's which it wasn't. Cheapest white sliced bread. Service apathetic. Truly disappointed. We paid in advance unfortunately but left most of our breakfast. Not even worth half the price.

Visited today with my daughter , great set up , fantastic choices of food and drinks and lovely staff . Highly recommended

Whenever I am in the area visiting I always visit the cats whiskers. Andrew makes the best parmos and I love the chips which are homemade. Andrew is very accommodating to special dietary requests . I recently hosted an afternoon tea here for a special birthday and it was the best afternoon tea I have had. The scones were made whilst we were there , you cant get fresher than that. A good selection of sandwiches along with other cakes. No visit to Guisborough is complete without a visit to the cats whiskers.

Great food and service at good prices

Food was great, customer service received from Harrison was diabolical. Had to ask to be served for drinks, and then left them on the side for us to pickup ourselves. And waiting another 20 minutes to take our food order. Never again.

A nice little cafe for a quick bite. The interior was cosy but cramped when full, however this was a minimal issue. The food was decent but the customer service was lacking. When I attempted to order the waiter just stared at me which left me feeling very awkward having to prompt the beginning myself (as someone who has previously worked in the hospitality industry, prompting the customer for their order is pretty basic customer service). When giving our drinks again silence, no effort to interact. The only effort was made to ask for any sauces which was directed at my boyfriend. It all just came across as a very awkward and uncomfortable experience. Did not feel like a very welcoming attitude/atmosphere.

We came here 2 days ago and it was so so lovely, right from the beginning we were impressed, beautiful cake and we ordered sandwiches which were gorgeous as well, definitely be back!

Food was OK and the staff were nice. Very small space, you are sitting uncomfortably close to other customers and I feel the food was a bit pricey for what it was for the location.

Nice cafe, large menu including some vegetarian options but not veggie English breakfast. Mainly eggs, mushrooms etc on toast. Coffee with cream was nice.

This is a cosy cafe through the day, turning into a Bistro in the evening. I have been twice through the day and the food and service is lovely. Very responsibly priced too. Comfy, nicely decorated. The hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows is mega delicious. Would recommend.

First visit today. Smiling friendly staff. Lovely quiet relaxed setting. Delicious cheese scone platter and fab Americano coffee. Great value for money. Looking forward to returning and trying more off the menu.

A lovely, cosy little restaurant where we stopped off for lunch before heading off on a long walk. Staff were very pleasant. Our only complaint would be that the wait for food was very long, but it was absolutely delicious when it arrived. The creamy mushrooms on toast were perfect and the salad was really fresh, colourful and beautifully presented, piled up with tender chicken. The dinner time menu was full of choice and we were very happy with what we had- will definitely return.

If you are in Guisborouhg, you have to eat here. Delicious food, nice people and fair prices. Menu has traditional "pub" food aswell as exotic meals.

Took breakfast here and it was superb.Cooked to perfection and served by very friendly staff. We called back later for a couple of slices of carrot cake to enjoy at home and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will definitely be back

We accidentally stumbled across this cafe/restaurant on the first day of our holidays. Staff were extremely accomodating and helped us negotiate a place for our son's pushchair. Myself and my husband ordered a cooked breakfast... Both were delicious, fresh and hot; perfect for a rainy Sunday brunch. We were so pleased we'd found this cafe and will be considering popping in again.

Stumbled upon this very petite but well appointed cafe/restaurant on a week day lunch time. Staff were very attentive and friendly we both just ordered toasted sandwiches which arrived hot and with sides Excellent presentation and flavour sum On looking around this well appointed establishment plenty of specials on boards offering a good variety of dishes. .Also on speaking to staff they do a full and extensive menu on weekend nights which looked reasonably priced with a good variety . we were also told they have now stated to do Sunday lunches will definitely try it both on evening and Sunday but would imagine owing to size booking would be advised

First time visit without a booking on a Saturday night (table for two) and although they were quite busy, they fit us in and I am so glad they did. The food was absolutely gorgeous (Garlic bread with cheese as a shared starter and Chicken a la creme & chef's fish cakes as mains). The food was amazing and including 4 drinks the price was more than reasonable. I highly recommend a visit.

I'd visited the Cats Whiskers several times during the day for coffee and snacks but this was the first visit for an evening meal.

We went to this Cafe / Bistro for the first time and found it very cramped, lots of noisy ladies eating and it was not a good time to enjoy a chat, had to shout most of the time. The food is ok, but a little pricey we think. There are so many other eateries in the area that we have used that are not as dear. So we will not be back.

What a great find in Guisborough. Went to the cats whiskers on Saturday night with friends, what a lovely place. It’s quite small inside but has a good atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious all freshly cooked and I recommend that you should go and try it for yourself you won’t be disappointed. I will happily return for another meal as really enjoyed it. Thanks to all the staff and olly for looking after us. Great place.

It's been a year since I last had an evening meal here and I'm pleased to say that it's still great. The food was excellent and the service was quick and friendly. Also very good value. We'll recommended.

We called in on our way to Greta Bridge on Christmas Eve lunch time. The place was packed and we were told it would be 10 minutes before a table would become available, so we walked back up the street and called back. After a short wait we were given a table. The place was nicely decorated for Christmas and very warm. We both had a king prawn sandwich, which was very nice with our coffees. The staff were very friendly too.

Too many places try to be clever and fail. The food here was simple but superbly prepared. They also have a small bit of our choice is anything to go by well chosen wine list. Well worth a try but you may need to book at weekends.

Love coming here for lunch. No high chair facilities so came back for the first time in ages now my daughter no longer needs one. She loved her lunch too.
