We had a superb Sunday roast here. The owner was very kind and let us in as a walk in, despite being fully booked. The food was plentiful, tasty and very well presented. The owner is very friendly, kind and professional. I would definitely recommend a visit here and do book in advance as it’s very popular.

We had a delicious lovely evening here. I left a message on the answer phone for the booking and I got a message back confirming the booking.. food was stunning. The most delicious food in town. It was easily all home cooked from scratch. A pleasant atmosphere with a couple of other busy tables. The owner came around to check we were all happy. Unfortunately it was our last night in town or we would be back tomorrow. Thank you guys 👍

Somewhat small and unassuming from the outside, it feels like you're walking into someone's house, but don't let looks deceive you, The Cat's Whisker offers a truly delightful selection of delicious tapas, in a quaint and homely setting, made lovingly by a passionate chef. We had a fabulous 3 course meal, the Charcuterie Board to start; a selection of Albondigas, Chicken and Chorizo, Patatas Bravas, and Beef Estofado for mains; and the Dessert Sharing Board to finish. Everything was wonderfully tasty. Make sure to phone up to book a table.

Stumbled upon this place down a side street in Watchet. I decided to pre-book the following day for lunch. Can't complain about anything. Menu was reasonably small which I like; Several tapas with a few other dishes. Service was great; Angela was the owner/ waitress/ chef. Food was tasty and filling. Toilet clean with individual towels to dry hands. Speaking with Angela, she tends to open on lunch time if she has bookings, therefore ring/ book in advance, you could change it but would be gutting to miss it. Evening are sometimes theme nights , therefore again ring. The place is small and intimate, therefore book to avoid not being able to get a table. We really enjoyed everything about the dining experience and will definitely return when we next come to Watchet, thank you Angela.

I am hugely surprised by the mostly positive reviews. The service was unfriendly from the start, I am not sure the waitress likes children (even well behaved ones used to restaurants), the food all came together, some of it was very dry (not convinced it wasn’t all microwaved) and none of it was particularly flavoursome. Just not good.

Rather quirky intimate restaurant with a smattering of tables across two rooms, felt somewhat like eating in a cottage lounge (which I guess it was). The tapas was extremely well executed - delicious flavours in the chicken + chorizo in cider, the batter was perfectly light and crispy on the cod and calamari and the deep fried aubergine was delicious. Overall a very pleasant dining experience and just £70 all in for bruschetta starter (divine tapenade although bread could have been a little crispier), 6 x tapas dishes and a bottle of malbec (also included 10% tip). Would go again!

Reeeeeeally tasty tapas in what is fast becoming West Somerset's hip capital! Service was lovely, food was all fresh, had a lovely calm atmosphere and allowed us to bring our own alcohol-free in from the shop as they didn't stock it at the time of our visit. Very reasonably pri es, and nothing was too much to ask from the staff. Loved the echo-friendly toilets, with a return to hand towels, as opposed to disposable paper towels. Decor was lovely too, and location very central to other venues for afterwards. Watchet should be very proud of this and the many other excellent establishments it holds, and anyone who hasn't visited should certainly do so, and witness the power of a strong community.

Can't attest to the food to this venue as my wife attempted to book a table for a certain time but there was none available. An alternative time was floated to us which was 15 minutes earlier but we were unable to change our childminder times to accomodate so politely declined and we received quite a rude message in response essentially saying 15 minutes shouldn't be a big deal. If it's not such a big deal then surely the time we wanted shouldn't have been a problem in the first place! Surprised at the response considering we hadn't even booked a table in the first place. Rubbish customer service. Better customer service at McDonald's for half the price. Any future choice between the two would see us gladly eating in at McDonald's and getting a better experience, even if the food is lower quality. Happy to post the rude response if the venue decides to defend this lack of professionalism.

The Cat's Whisker is not over-stating it. Certainly the best on offer in Watchet, that we could find. Thats not saying much in itself as the competition is wanting in Watchet. But the tapas here is up there with the best that we have had (Shrewsbury, Glasgow, Swindon, Cardiff, Dolgellau, in order of preference). Anyway, back to The Cat's Whisker ... superb. Angela slipped us in when we arrived unannounced (a risky thing given the compact nature of the restaurant). Don't be put off by the musky smell. It was opening time after all and the food aroma had not had chance to overwhelm. Neither be deterred by the slightly terse personnel (I put it down to being stressed out a little by unexpected guests when a birthday party was due to arrive soon. The table confetti was objected to!). The food was exemplary. Hard to pick the best dish, so working up from the least remarkable .... the mushrooms were good enough but not memorable. Potato bravas was a pile (even when sharing) and came with aioli and a tomato sauce. King prawns had a garlicy kick. Lamb koftes were very tasty. Arancini were super. But the beef espetada was gorgeous, though not on a skewer. It was a so rich slow cooked beef and butter bean casserole. Stunning. But not as stunning as the deserts. I thought my creme brulee in a china cup and saucer was class, you should taste the chockate brownie which was my wife's choice. Wow. As it is only open from a Wednesday to Sunday, definitely book. Oh, and the price ... brilliant value at £52 all in.

Absolutely terrible service, no Prosecco by the glass even though on the menu, cobwebs and flies everywhere very unclean , risotto balls basically a bowl of rice , never asked to see dessert menus, wasn’t offered more drinks , plates weren’t cleared , such a disappointing experience and food was average. Don’t take your children here either, clearly they can’t handle children being on modern technology whilst two parents trying to have a date! Never felt more uncomfortable as a parent.

Food was good and waitresses were lovely however it would have been nice to know that there was a minimum food spend of £18 per person (drinks separate) which ended up being a lot of food for us as it’s tapas. Incredible food but rather abrupt waitress who didn’t seem to like I had been abroad so knew about tapas! Would suggest the concept of serving it all together doesn’t work for dietary requirements like vegans and allergies. Would definitely go again but hope to have the other waitress who was incredibly friendly. 2 hours limit to the table which wasn’t mentioned on booking or arrival but 10 minutes before our time was up leading to some speed eating.

Nicely decorated, personable and cosy if we lived in the area it would have easily become a regular haunt of ours. Lovely small tapas tyoe plates of food, particularly enjoyed the Kofta and wished we'd ordered some extra and the Baked Camembert although a simple dish was divine with a nice onion relish. The chef was incredibly attentive and friendly as was the staff in general and our waiter turned out to be her son. We were staying in Watchet for just 2 nights and were very glad that one coincided with the Mexican Extravaganza here. We had seen the menu and thought we would have to choose between items on it, but actually we got everything on it, which amounted to a lot of food (glad we had walked 19 miles that day!) We sat in a section of the restaurant by ourselves, so no problems with social distancing. The food was a real taste sensation, accompanied by some local wine, and it was great value for money. The serving staff were very friendly too. This is a quirky little restaurant in an old, characterful building, and I have heard great reviews of their standard menus too (tapas and roasts); hope we can come back to try those out one day.

Dog and human friendly. Scones to die for and lots of delicious sweet and savoury options. Parking opposite side of bridge.

Another lovely evening meal at the Lorna Doone restaurant yesterday. Always so welcoming and friendly. Our guest had the chicken pie, my husband ate the saltimbocca and I had a perfectly cooked, juicy fish. Mel's suggestion of the Sangiovese - as we all felt like red wine - was perfect. Unusually we even went for pudding. I loved the rhubarb pudding and my husband enjoyed the sticky toffee. We'll be back soon! Thank you!

We have always visited this restaurant over the last 20+ years since my wife’s mother moved to Minehead. This was the first time we felt like we were intruding and unwanted as a customer. We arrived for a 12:00 booking and immediately had the owner remind us that the table had to be free by 13:30. We had a reasonable meal although there’s not much you can get wrong with scampi and chips! But then to have the owner stand next to our table and say to other diners who had just arrived some 10 mins early for their table, ‘I have told them we need the table!’ was both rude and uncalled for. It is such a shame, a place that we had such fond memories of, and thought we were valued customers, but no longer unfortunately.

Last April I posted a scathing review of The Bottom Ship after a particularly bad experience. The owners responded in the best possible way by giving me a gift voucher for a future visit, and today I used that voucher. What a difference! The food was excellent, freshly cooked and delicious, the service was was first class. Having presented the voucher for the meal the staff forgot to charge me for the drinks. Yes, I did remind them! A completely different experience and we'll definitely be going back in the future.
