Like Charlie O's review we also booked for a Wedding in the village months ago only to have our two rooms cancelled with just over a week's notice with very limited options locally. Oh and the cancellation was by text - very classy. Avoid unless you want your weekend to be ruined

Booked two rooms for a wedding months ago. Cancelled by text just over a week beforehand so very few alternatives available and nothing locally. Very disappointing and no customer focus. Avoid to avoid disappointment. We are not the first apparently

GOING TO A WEDDING LOCALLY? Think twice about booking this accommodation…. Having booked months in advance they cancelled on the morning of the stay. Rural location with taxis booked up & nearest accommodation several miles away. I appreciate that emergencies happen & was sorry to hear the new owners had a family emergency. However, not having a plan B for guests such as a lockbox or local person that can let guests in if the owners are preoccupied is disappointing / poor planning. (Ps: I’m more than happy to delete this review if the owners get in contact to confirm an emergency process has been put in place 😀)

Called in to the Cat Ash following a walk around Cadbury Castle and South Cadbury village. My wife and I, along with our dog sat in the garden, in the glorious sunshine. A good selection of ciders for my wife and a 0% Peroni for me. We ordered a light lunch, fish and chips and a sandwich. Couldn’t fault the food, very tasty and a quick service. We will definitely return.

I’ve never heard of The Catash Inn before, but saw an offer on Facebook and decided to check it out. They advertised 11” pizza and a pint for £11 on Wednesdays, so I gave them a call to book. Decent sized car park next to a playground, and the pub looked decent enough. On arrival we were shown to our table, with the lady behind the bar being very understaffed - she asked us to order at the bar due to this. The service, despite her being on her own, was fantastic! It was better than the last few times I have been out to anywhere else. Never without a drink, never waiting for anything, perfect. Pizza was decent, and she offered to box any leftovers up for us too. I liked it more than my wife did. My wife had a dessert, which was ok. The pub itself was a little rough around the edges, for instance no signs for the toilets, no lock on the men’s toilet door, etc. Food mid range, pub and surroundings mid range at best, service impeccable. Will probably go again with the lads for a cheap midweek meal.

We had traveled to the area as visiting the Haynes Museum just up the road. We had originally planned to eat at another local pub but walked out after a lack of service and poor atmosphere. After scouring Google Maps we decided on this place for a mid-week lunchtime stop. A nice locals pub that’s clearly been recently treated to a bit of a makeover- nice job too. Sometimes non-locals aren’t particularly welcomed in places like this (I know from living in a village myself, seen it many times) but we found The Catash Inn to be the opposite. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome and actually we were a bit cheeky asking for food so late in the afternoon but luckily the chef said he’d sort us out! I had hunters chicken + chips which as about £11/12, I felt this was good value for money especially as I had loads of chips (very nice too, triple-cooked style but more like fluffy Roast potatoes 👌🏼) the chicken/bacon was tasty too. My wife had Macaroni Cheese + chips which she said was very nice, probably too big a portion really. A good size car park up behind the pub, which from other reviews I’ve read offers overnight parking for campervans so if we’re ever in the area with ours we’d definitely be up for a stop-over! Toilets were well presented and very clean.

Nice place, we stayed here for free with the motorhome for a night. And decided to eat something in the Pub. The daughter of the owner was very funny and told us where we could park and go if we wanted some drinks/food. The only downside for us was the weedwacker that came at 10 am and woke us up. This is probably just bad luck, so I wouldn't worry about it if you are coming for a visit.

We were meandering to Camelot (well OK,. Cadbury castle) and stopped for lunch. I had a great burger with goat's cheese and caramelised onion chutney. Chips were excellent; crispy on the outside with perfectly done hot steamy spud inside. Also had some great onion rings. The chef is clearly a maestro of the deep fryer. The fish and chips looked great too

A handy oasis off the A303 that we happened on by chance when looking for somewhere to stop for lunch. This fitted the bill perfectly. A lovely welcome from the barmaid/landlady (?). I had a well kept pint of Butcombe Original ale, and my wife a very good cloudy, still, cider. Food was straightforward without being ordinary. We sat in the garden and enjoyed the tranquility of the village. An ideal break for those travelling from the south east to Devon and Cornwall. Will call in again next time we pass.

We stayed at The Catash Inn Fri - Mon in readiness for a friends Wedding which was held over two days. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay at the Catash and that was due to the owners Caroline who is a fab landlady and James a fab chef and also their other members of staff. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The meal we ate in there on the Fri evening and the breakfasts we had were all excellent, quality ingredients, well presented and extremely tasty. We would highly recommend the Castash Inn for a stay or even a visit just to eat and have a drink, you won't be disappointed. The Catash Inn deserve to go from strength to strength. As they say at the Catash "there are no strangers at the Catash Inn only friends you haven't made yet!" which is so very true.

The food was lovely (my partner and I had mac'n'cheese and chips), from a menu that was really well priced. When the food came, the portions were generous, tasty and felt very home cooked. The staff were really friendly and they seemed to really want to take care of us. Must admit, from the outside it looked plain but inside the decor was warm and because of the staff, food and price, we had a great time. It was recommended to us and we were right to take that. Also, the toilets were immaculate which isn't something everywhere can say!

This pub was looking a bit beaten up and tired but has very recently been comprehensively redecorated and refurbished. We live in the village and this was our first visit since the reopening and it was a great surprise. The place feels far more welcoming and comfortable. The biggest improvement is the removal of the ancient and outdated carpet - glad to see the back of it! 6 of us ate there - a variety of decent pub food; generous helpings with excellent chips and very good beer (Doom Bar) A big improvement and will be going there a lot more frequently.

In these difficult times for local village pubs its great to find a good traditional British pub with welcoming, hard working staff meeting all the relevant covid requirements whilst offering exceptionally good quality food,( I refer to the Christmas roast diner we have just experienced) served up by the landlord and landlady, Ken and Chris. Well done folks the village appreciates all that you do to promote the village and community. Whilst publicans do their bit for the community the community must continue to support their local pubs too, or ultimately loss these assets that make their villages what they are.

The portions were enormous- in future, perhaps slightly smaller would have been just as good. I love any pub that serves both cream and custard out of huge jugs! After our lunch they were feeding a shoot at 4pm, followed by two evening sittings for the Wassail; but never once did we feel rushed. Well done and thank you team Catash, I'm sure we'll be back.
