2nd visit to this great little pub, again for lunch with friends. We ran a bit late, but we phoned ahead and they kindly put our reservation back 30 minutes. We all had three courses today, and we all enjoyed everything we had. Good menu, with vegetarian options, and a great range of drinks. Good team working there too, thank you all.

We were here for a family get together and birthday celebration. We sat in the bar area in a slightly odd arrangement with one member of the party at the end of a separate bench to the rest of us. The waiter/owner said we could move if we wished, but it was fine, we were all sat at the same table, just not sure why we were seated like that in the first place if there was other seating available (we had booked in advance). We were returning here after a visit in the summer where we sat in a little side room - I’d recommend asking for these for a small group as they are lovely rooms. Beautiful location overlooking the churchyard. Interior of pub is great, very rustic with scythes on the wall and examples of wattle and daub. Warm and comfortable. Although it was very quiet (Saturday lunch) the service was on the slow side, 2 hours in total for 2 courses. Food was excellent - well cooked, well presented and hot. There’s a good range of dishes, from traditional burgers, to spiced dishes and a selection of vegetarian. I had roast duck, rest of the party had burgers, sausages and ribs, everyone was happy with their food. Desserts were just as good, once again a good range. Servers were polite and attentive. Overall a very good experience, although not sure what the service would be like if they are very busy.

This is a really lovely welcoming pub that serves a good selection of drinks in confortable surroundings. Staff are charming although a little inexperienced and inattentive, our waitress kept leaning over us to hand out menus and food and never returned to check food was ok or if we needed more drinks. The selection of beer, cider, wine and soft drinks was very good the lunchtime food however was a ok but a bit underwhelming . There were no specials so we selected from the main menu and the food was ok but the chips were more like fries and were very bland, as was the cajun potator wedges that came with an equally bland lamb skewer and really had no cajun spice. Desserts were a lot better and the coffees were ok but took ages to come on what was a very quiet lunch service. Overall we felt a bit disappointed with the experience given the positive reviews from others .

What a great find, we couldn't fault the Castle in any field. Lovely food well prepared and presented, and great friendly and attentive staff, especially the bubbly Lu-lu who looked after us admirably. The menu (boosted with some specials) isn't vast which means everything is fresh and prepared for that session, but what it has should meet the requirements of any diner. I ordered the mussels from the special list as a starter, served beautifully and we're superb, would be a credit to any French seafood restaurant. A healthy portion that for many could have served as a main meal. The two ladies opted out of starters and had fish and chips which was a sensible move as the portion was large and apparently superb. I had a half cajun chicken which defeated me and i had to resort to a people bag.Nice desert list as well. If you're anywhere local looking for a meal don't miss the castle but book as it gets very busy as you'd expect reading this.

This was our first visit to The Castle Inn even though we've lived in the area for a few years. We had the trout pate to start, its a generous portion. For mains, we had skate wing and fish & chips, again portion size is generous. No room for puds. Excellent service from a friendly team. We will definitely be returning, can't wait to try the bbq on a Saturday night and the roasts on a Sunday.

This is a favourite pub restaurant of mine. Three real ales from the locality on tap. A great selection of food from a delicious Sunday roast to classic pub specials. Now supplemented by the reintroduction of some delicious specials. I enjoyed the scallop dish and roast haddock recently. I was disappointed to be honest with our experience, given so many good reviews. My vegan burger was very average, and my sister's pizza was burnt, but this was taken off the bill with apologies. The other people enjoyed their food but no one was really raving about it. The staff were friendly and helpful but as there were quite a few people seated outside and we were inside, it seemed they were quite stretched.

Fantastic food as always cooked in a wood fired oven in a purpose built garden area. Enjoyed pil pil prawn starters and glazed chicken wing starters. Had a meat feast pizza for our main course which was superb. Best pizza i have ever had. So light and fluffy. Not like the stodge you get elsewhere! Deserts were a gin and lime cheesecake and a chocolate torte which were also fantastic. Good selection of drinks also available. Social distncing not a problem as tables were well spaced out. pub access is strictly limited to toilet facillities only. Couldn’t be more disappointed with our Christmas Day lunch. At 79 pound a head plus service charge I expected a lot better quality than we got. No drink on arrival or canapé. Starter was admittedly very good. No curtain on the high window in front of me so the sun was in my eyes all the time. The main traditional Christmas dinner was very disappointing. Very, very poor selection of vegetables. The tiny individual Christmas pudding was a joke and we weren’t even offered coffee afterwards. The home cooked lunch at my daughters the next day was 100 times better. I would never go there again for Christmas lunch.

Whilst this is a gorgeous little pub, I do not find it acceptable to order a burger and be told there are none left, for one to be brought out half an hour later for another table. When I questioned this with the waiter he basically said the chef knows the lady so made a special burger from mashed up meatballs and “wouldn’t have done this for a normal customer.” Didn’t realise my great British pounds are worth less than someone else. No apology, no good will discount and when I said I would have to do a poor review on trip advisor there was basically no concern. Clearly they care more about their “special” customers than is regular folk! Won’t come back!

Welcome this time was good . A pleasant young lady took us to our table and brought our pre-lunch drinks. From there all went wrong.- we waited and waited and waited. Eventually someone came to take our order - Then we waited and waited and waited. An unacceptably long time before food eventually came. They had asked how I wanted the beef - I said as rare as possible. It came extremely well done and as tough as old boots. I asked for a sharper knife - they disappeared, then I went out to find someone who said they did not have one. I said I could not eat the beef without one. Ages later one arrived. Beef was awful as were the hard cauliflower, the poor roasties. I had to go to the bar to order wine and when ordered they did not understand the names - I had to point to the wine list! All in all a very poor meal with unbelievably bad service. A pity. I had been some years ago and it was good. A sad fall from grace.

Service was polite and speedy - pub looked as though it was also being used by villagers, which was a positive - with so many pubs in the area closing. I visited for an impromptu lunch with my daughter, and ordered a Burger and Fish and chips. The food was beautifully cooked and artisticly presented but rather sparse. My fish was in a wire basket on a board, with a small ramekin of peas and a very small pot of chips. The portion was extremely small, and did not represent reasonable value for money. Luckily I wasn't particularly hungry! The Burger was homemade and tasty, served in a Brioche bun with chips in a small bowl, but again rather Spartan.

Great spot en route home up North after flying back into Heathrow from Russia. The chef sat starts at 6pm but we enjoyed being sat outside in the sun watching the bowlers. The duck salad was a delicious starter we shared with ginger, pomegranate, olives, tomato avocado to name just a few whilst sat outside in the atmosphere. We then shared halloumi vegetarian burger which came with sweet potatoes fries and chicken salad with home cooked potatoes. All very tasty, full of flavours. Circa £60 with drinks. Enjoyed the new menu at the Castle . Dinner with friends... we all chose different menu options and we were impressed with the quality of the food. Well done to owner/ chef Matt. We will definitely eat there again soon.

We visited on Saturday evening for dinner. Lovely atmosphere - the pub has been done up and looks lovely.

We couldn't fault the Sunday lunch that we had there. The service was excellent, efficient and very good at making sure that we had drinks at all times (even though we were sitting upstairs). The portions were large, so much so we ended up taking a doggy bag home but most importantly very tasty and well presented.

Visit was on a fairly quite Sunday for my Mother’s birthday. In summary very good food but terrible inattentive service. Had the overall impression that none of the front of house staff really cared. 3/10 overall. It could have been so much better as a beautiful building and a great location.

First time to use this venue, lovely setting, friendly staff, especially the chatty barman with his knowledge of wines. Quick service, good choice of menu, generous portions too.

We were 3 adults and 2 children. All us had the Sunday roasts which were tasty and enjoyable. The puddings were also traditional and good. We were in the snug which is a separate room with 4 tables only and is good for an intimate meal. The beer is also excellent being a free house.

I really dislike writing poor reviews but have no option if we have to accurately describe our dining experience experience last night. The starters were just ok but the main course of haddock and chips was pretty rubbish. In fact I was embarrassed as having suggested we go there in the first place. The batter was soft and the chips were coloured but mostly undercooked. Peas were served in a ramekin but were hard and undercooked. The service was ok but the chefs really let the place down.

Even on one of the busiest days of the year, The Castle team managed to provide friendly and efficient service throughout our visit.

Great breakfast today. Decided to skip the full welsh and opted for the avocado and poached eggs on sourdough. Perfectly poached. Had 2 lattes so on a bit of a coffee high at the moment. Waitress kindly gave me a small jug of hot milk to add to them. The rainbow cake looked fantastic, hope it’s still on the menu next week. Love this place.

Food usually very good but I had a sandwich today that I think must have been yesterday's as it was very dry and tough to eat.

Arrived with my daughter for a Brush Party which was a birthday present. She bought a large diet coco cola and an apple and raspberry J2O for which she was charged £6.80. Later, I purchased the exact same things and was told - by the same barmaid - it was £6.90. The 10p is neither here nor there but when I pointed it out she merely shrugged her shoulders - as if to say "so what?" There was no suggestion of rechecking the price or an apology. I fully realise that gone are the days of "the customer is always right" but a simple offer to recheck the price and a simple sorry would have cost nothing. Now, however, you have a poor review, bad "word of mouth" and a customer who will never return.
