Received a complimentary 3 course meal (with another fee paying guest) for my birthday as I’d signed up to their emails/offers. Enjoyed a lovely meal with my husband. Food was wonderful as always & Megan worked tirelessly between all the customers, ensuring everyone was happy & everything catered for. Recommend the Sicilian Tart as a dessert was outstanding! Great saving on this offer & as always enjoyed my food & night.

Tracy, Charlotte and Hayley were fantastic as usual. Restaurant level food in a nice cozy atmosphere with brilliant service and a friendly, local feel. Will of course be back. Never a problem to accommodate our pram and super sweet with our little one

Popped in for lunch and we were made to feel very welcome, such a friendly pub. We had a lovely window table and an amazing steak sandwich - absolutely lovely, shout out to Alicia, the chef. Of course we’ll be back 😀

After a short wait, being seated and being told we would be given a menu it never appeared. Had to ask another staff member for one 10 minutes later . Ordered our food eventually and 20 minutes later we were informed my ribeye steak was no longer available but a fillet steak was . Only problem was it took another 35 minutes to arrive. So we had been seated over an hour before being served our meals. To top it off the glass of wine my wife ordered was priced at an expensive £13.50, compared to the £13.95 at the bar for the same glass of wine and a pint of lager!! A long wait for an expensive and nothing extraordinary meal. Never again! Would I recommend? No Will I return? Definitely not.

Popped in for dinner at around 6.30pm. We ate in the bar area rather than the restaurant today. Excellent service, really lovely polite and helpful staff. Our food was all really well presented, cooked perfectly and tasted great. We had the dirty burger, billionaire fries, rotisserie chicken a house salad and halloumi fries on the side. Everything was delicious. Not the first time we have eaten here and most definitely won’t be the last!

This was our second visit in a couple of weeks and they did not disappoint again. Both of us had the dirty burger, minus the bun for me as I am gluten intolerant. I opted for the billionaire fries too; all highly recommended. Next time I will take a gluten free bun with me to mop up all the delicious gravy from the little pot on the side 😋 No desserts as we were both too full. Love the fact that we can take our puppa inside and she is well looked after. Next visit will probably be on Saturday 3rd August for their Summer Celebration 🍾

I decided to get married at short notice and phoned the castle to see if there would open for us at 10 30 am and to cook us a wedding breakfast for 14 people and it was a lovely experience there couldn't do enough for us thank you so much to the lovely staff for making it a very unique day xx

We booked a small family lunch, for a catch up. We received a warm welcome and seated quickly. The food menu is extensive, including specials and great options. The food was delicious. Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff, who are very attentive and engaging. Desserts were also very tasty. A great place, with parking and friendly staff.

Visited on Thursday 29 February for lunch with my sisters. Lovely ambience as we arrived, the fires were lit, lovely music and lighting and very clean. Will greeted us from behind the bar and was really lovely, very engaging, chatty, friendly and interested. The food and wine in the restaurant were really good and the lady who served us very efficient and professional. We returned to the bar area after lunch for cocktails and Will made us some of the best cocktails we have tasted. Grant the manager was very visible and busy doing various jobs around the place and also had a quick chat with us. A lovely relaxed afternoon in my local, would highly recommend.

Great food with some nice choices for veggies (not as many as there used to be, but still OK). Excellent service thanks to Kieran and have already booked to come back.

Lovely pub with fine dining section, staff are friendly, warm and attentive. Food quality superb. Will on seating was charming and thoughtful . Waiter Josh was great and looked after us very well. We left our car here over night and had the pleasure of Tracey in the morning. Fire on , breakfast looked fabulous. Squeezed in one more ale before we reluctantly had to leave . Would recommend and return definitely.

I ordered a g&t. Apparently now the tonic is served thru a post mix dispenser so the in-experienced bar staff drown your gin with flat tonic. On complaining about the flat tonic I was told by the manager that’s how they do it now, no apology. The tonic was £2.85, which ruined my £4.45 single measure of gin. Cheers Valentines menu. The food was really mediocre. My Prawn starter tasted like ketchup with a bit of crumbled feta. The scallops looked nice (£3 upgrade tho) Belly pork main was very chewy & bland, they had run out of scallops for this so tossed a few (cooked) frozen prawns on to make up for it. Generally very average, but the service was poor - young, untrained waiting staff who brought mains while eating the starter & wedged them on the table instead of taking them back. Every time we come we say we won’t return…I’m writing the review to remind myself not to next time we are seduced by the decor!

This was our first time at the Castle and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. First of all we sat for a drink in comfortable chairs next to a roaring fireplace. We then moved to the restaurant. The service provided by Tracy and Megan was exceptional. The food was amazing, well done chef! The girls looked after us and had a giggle. Lovely friendly and warm ambience. We will be back.

great xmas party with friends. Tracy and Mollie were fantastic! The host was very communicative making us aware of any items they had sold out of which was only 3 things which were of no interest to us anyway. Starters came out swiftly The mains followed, took slightly longer than expected but the restaurant was busy with other bigger parties. The desserts were the BOMB! excuse the pun as we had the chocolate bomb which was terrific If i had one issue the cracker gifts were naff wooden things but hey it is what it is. overall a positive experience, i would recommend

go to castle most weeks sometimes for a meal just been for a meal always enjoyed the food and drinks i have guiness wife has pino wine and she always says it is a good wine and she knows her wine the staff are always nice and friendly its great if you just fancy a nice quite relaxing drink or a meal its always clean and inviting easy private safe parking for the castle pub

We’ve visited during the 50% off mains promotion and we weren’t disappointed. My steak was cooked perfectly and my wife’s pasta dish the same and delicious. Tracy our server was professional and friendly and her attentiveness made our visit perfect….thank you.

Sat down to be told that most of the menu wasn't available or had to be changed due to lack of available meat. Prawn and Crab linguine, was watery, had no crab in it, a whole pack of tomatoes, 5 prawns and 1 random pea - Not what I was call good food.

Food was appalling. Booked a table for 8 a week ago table wasn’t ready when we went to be seated. Two linguines were cold. The wait between first course was nearly 40 minutes no wonder the food was cold. We were charged a WET tax...

A large group of local residents visited the pub on Monday night for a meal. The food was good, hot and well served by the staff. Sadly the down side was unbelievable. The pub had no draught beer. Of the two beers for sale one had run out and the other beer supplied two or three pints then it had run out. No other barrels were ready for sale a member of staff explained. One excuse accompanied by a quick sorry was ‘the man who looks after the beer had not been in today’ Amazing!

Awful Christmas menu, No seasoning or flavour on anything. Just plain steamed veg. We had a starter of scallops ...nothing like what this dish used to be. And the Christmas menu main was awful. This place has lost its edge, its chefs preparing food from scratch and now you get cheap pre-made food, served in surroundings which deserve better food. Always had good service here, but its on the way down. Thank you for the previous times we have had, but now we say goodbye!!! Thank you to the member of staff who we spoke to about this who could see our utter disappointment at the meal. However, I don't accept that customers should have plain bland food with no seasoning because that is easier as some people have allergies. We haven't got allergies and wanted a meal that was above what you can get from a wacky warehouse or carvery type - mass-produced food from a factory.

Christmas menu was cheap and tasteless. It smelt funny especially the sausage wrapped in bacon. 5/5 for lovely service though, the person who served us the wine was great. This place has lowered their quality of food and expect to serve it people who have been visiting for years. This place was unique, had chefs to prepare quality food at great prices. Now just reduced to a carvery...mass produced food. Gone from a chef making a parsnip puree to a worker opening up a jar. How disappointing. The quality of the wine and service doesn't match the low quality food they are serving. SOrry but I am looking for higher standards. Ive probably wrote a good review in the past but major changes have happened since then. It has lost its individuality of preparing a nice meal by trained chefs. You should raise the bar, not lower it....thats where the money is.

Came here with my family for an early Christmas get together. We didn’t have a booking but they managed to get us a table. We were served by Tracy who was very friendly and attentive. Food was also really good!

We went this morning for a family breakfast with 3 adults and 3 kids. We arrived at 10:30 as it says it does brunch.. which they really shouldn't bother doing. The place was empty when we got there.. not a good sign.. and we eventually got asked for drinks which took and age... We got more drinks as they forgot to take our order then off they popped so do god knows what... The place was quiet. Our order wasn't too difficult apart from eggs benedict.. the rest just breakfasts. It arrived around midday so we had waited over an hour. I had the bigger breakfast which was over cooked with extra bread for the extra £4.. my wife's gluten free bread was harder than bricks so she took it back and eventually came back with less hard stuff... They didn't send out any hollondaise sauce so it was eggs on spinach with dry bread... so we had to wait for this. They sent out eggs Florentine instead of Benedict also but at this point we were too hungry to bother complaining.. they did take it off the bill though. When we'd finished they were serving lunch which came out pretty quick so why bother advertising breakfast if your not able to cook it. The staff were miserable as sin also.. and finally they sent my daughter's bacon sandwich out on a burning hot plate.. what sort of person does this.. it could have given her a nasty burn (the waitress did burn herself) but the food has obviously been sat under a hot plate while they did the rest of the meals. It wasn't busy btw. We would have complained at the time but no one came over to ask if it was ok.. and it took then 10 minutes to clear out plates. So annoyed we wasted £90 here.. you get better food and service at grotty chains. The decoration is nice though... Just the rest of it is appalling.

First time here for a family meal,I ordered half rotisserie chicken and chips...well what can I say but it was terrible,plain and bland,chicken was dry with some bbq sauce chucked on top and the fries were luke warm at best,definitely not worth £17.50 I was starving after so ordered a takeaway later in the day.Also the place was cold not warm at all.Would not recommend.
