My friend and I had a lovely lunch today, Shirley was a fantastic waitress, she was there when we needed her but she didn't hover. I would highly recommend lunch at the castle, and you should ask to be seated in Shirley's section!

Never go after looking at the rating. This seems like the typical employee personality, but it makes me feel bad for no reason. They waited for my order without any additional explanation, and then they talked among themselves and barely took my order, but when I ordered coffee, they just said no. Why do I want to do this when they say it can't be done without even explaining it? I drank it all and was talking, but then he took the cup and slammed it, ruining my mood for the day. ^^ I felt strangely relieved.

DO NOT EAT THERE! Terrible service, super rude waitress. The food was bad... full of dough and super greasy, not even the simplest things like some 'chips' were good.

Amazing food. We took the chicken schnitzel, fish and chips and the cheeseburger. All 3 of these plates tasted wonderful. The portions were very big, we even had some leftovers. It was great. The prices are good as well for the location. If you sit near the window across the bar, you get a view of the iconic blue door from the Notting Hill movie. Nice service, very friendly people working. Would come again 100%! Recommend

It was warmer than I was expecting but I am not super sure that isn’t more common across the pond. It was a hot 90 degree day so thank goodness I had my little handheld fan. That aside the food was good. Had the fish and chips which was well seasoned and a good size portion. The other person in my party had a cheese burger which he described as okay. There were two people working. Both were courteous and friendly.

English review🤪: You're tired of walking down Portobello Road and you need a little stop. Whether drinking or eating you can try to get a table in this pub-cafeteria and relax for a while. Wide choice of drinks. Before spending the rest of your money at the multitude of market stalls. It is located halfway between the Notting Hill stop and the Landbroke stop. Some waitresses speak Spanish. Happy shopping.

It were so amazing. The staff were sooo nice and the food so delicious. We got 2 x fish and chips, the fish were so fresh and not dry at all - perfectly made! Good portion size as well. And 1x sourdough with carmembert, soooooo tasteful and the best bread wow! Everything went at an acceptable/ normal time even though the restaurant were completely full and people in the line! The staff did a very good job👍

The place is absolutely gorgeous and the table where we made reservations has the best view (near the window close to the entrance). Guys from here are so friendly. Also the food is the greatest! We recommend fish and chips. The best in the country!! No.1!!

Really good food and the staff were very efficient and friendly. Definitely more of a nicer pub. They only have one small tv so if you’re there to watch a football match maybe not the best choice - but that’s not really the vibe of the place anyways.

Classic English pub, top welcome without having booked, there were 4 of us and they seated us immediately. After ordering, due to a 1 minute delay on an order they offered us a beer apologizing for the delay.

"The best fish and chips" is written on the door. I wouldn't be happy if I didn't go in to try it. There are many people in the store, the waiter is very enthusiastic and provides appropriate arrangements, and the beer is quite delicious.

The castle is a lovely pub, always very clean, staff are lovely and smiley It's a great spot, especially across the summer time 😉

We had a lovely meal here! The fish and chips and the avocado salad were very tasty and the waiting staff were super attentive. We were sat promptly even though the place looked very busy and we got served fast.

Visited by friend's recommendation. It is a nice pub, good atmosphere. Food was also tasty but not enough for 2 to share. Waiters were not friendly unfortunately.

Classic English pub serving mainly beer, cider, fish & chips and burgers. I gave the service 3 stars because essentially the service doesn't exist in England. You serve yourself at the bar counter. The staff was very friendly anyway!

Absolutely friendly staff, gave us a lot of attention, helped to choose the drinks. Everything was served fast and so fresh abd tasty. The pie and fish and chips are very good and the price isn’t scary at all. A small tip, to be sure you will have the Sunday roast you should reserve a table for earlier than 19 o’clock. We came somewhat too late, but still the experience was amazing. And don’t skip the desert, they are great as well!

Although the pub was extremely busy and we were early for our booking we were seated almost immediately. Staff were attentive and the food was plentiful and extremely tasty. I would go as far as to say one of the very best nut roasts I have ever had!

A great discovery in the heart of Notting Hill! Not only is the service efficient, but the dishes are very good (special mention for the fish and chips).

Are there any Asians watching here? Please don't go. It's really rude. There were no major issues during my trip to England, but the time I spent at this restaurant remains a really unpleasant and unpleasant memory. The female employee with glasses seems to be something I'll remember for a long time. I guess she thought we couldn't speak English. I got up and went to the counter to ask something, but “sit” is this crazy.. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.. The food is too salty and expensive.. Please don’t go. I don’t know why this restaurant’s rate is so high. That’s not worth it honestly. The server was really rude. Maybe she thought we wouldn't understand English, I guess. That time is a terrible memory in London thanks to them. The more I think about it, the more I get angry. Awful🤮

Didn’t really enjoyed the experience, maybe was the staff attention or the atmosphere what made my experience a bit more less joyful. The food is not the best in the zone and the place is not so in my most honest opinion this place is a bit overpriced for what they offer. If I can say something good about the experience the Guinness that I had was perfectly poured so that always gets some points when dinning or having a drink. They also allow animal companion so I had a beautiful dog dinning next to me. Hope this helps in the future.

I came in to meet a friend and the rude staff/manager accused me of only coming into to use the toilet, so we decided to go somewhere else. Looked like a tourist trap anyway.

Absolutely delicious. Staff are friendly and not in your face. Service is quick, but not rushed. If you understand that. I had king prawns, chorizo and feta, which Is maybe one of the tastiest things I've ever had. I'm here on holiday, and if you're on your own, going for lunch can be daunting, so it's easy to spend the same money on somewhere like McDonald's, but trust me, the vibe in here is charming and welcoming and the food is proper food. Customers never see the kitchen, so please pass on my thanks to them. Bravo all of you.

Actually surprised that we enjoyed our visit here. We live around the block so we tried to avoid the weekend portobello road tourist crowd at all costs but desperate times calls for desperate measures, we came in after squeezing through all the people walking so slowly enjoying their holiday. As you can imagine the pub is extremely full and we were quite hopeless to get a table ourselves let alone having a staff checking us in. Nope, we were welcome with full attention from it seems to be the only staff that’s working there and tried his best to get us a table. We were not left hanging around for drinks and we didn’t find ourselves waiting for a long time to order. The food is actually very yummy and we are left satisfied. Only thing is that they cheekily increase the price in this branch for the conscience of the location.

Good but terribly overpriced, even for London. 25£ for a pint, halloumi fries, and padron peppers! Needlessly said, I won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Seriously, you won't find a fish'n'chips like it. The service is exceptional and the Guinness is fantastic (yes, knowing how to pour it makes a total difference) in a beautiful environment, in a privileged location.

Very nice spot on busy Portobello Road. We were lucky to grab a table and we really enjoyed our lunch. I had bangers and mash which were well cooked. Very nice atmosphere.

Stopped in for a pub lunch and drink- family of 7, food was really good - 14 year old son said best pub burger he’d had in London. All the norms with some vegan options, service was efficient and friendly, no complaints at all. Recommend
