I Would highly recommend the castle, all the staff are so helpful and we’re all so lovely, had such a lovely meal here yesterday there was quite a big group of us and everyone was more than happy with everything was such a lovely place. The food was delicious everyone was very happy and full, big portions sizes filled everyone up, just wanted to say a big thank you to all the staff and for the castle for such a lovely experience such lovely atmosphere to made us all feel so welcomed

Had a brilliant night at the castle. It was our friends engagement party and the staff went put of their way to make sure it was a good night. The dj was excellent and made the night even better.

Food ok but very busy and long waits for food. Pub seems to be short of staff and the noise with the televisions can get annoying. Prices fairly competitive.

Excellent venue for good value food and sports! They have a big screen, 3 other tellys and 2 dart boards. Would recommend just don’t forget to put your number plate in the console!

Popped in for something the eat with my partner and kid and we throughly enjoyed our visit. Site was clean and well looked after. Clean menus available on the table, great effecient service from the guy tending the bar, no issues with menu availability and meals were delivered quickly and hot. Portions were great and we were well looked after by the guy on the floor. All in all, couldn't fault a single aspect of our visit. Thanks for having us guys. Highly recommend the house curry from the ultimate section on the menu!

I booked a table of 6 on Friday for myself and some family we hadn’t seen in a while when I booked my table over the phone the staff was so polite and helpful as my eldest son has allergies I thought I’d best let them know the lady on the phone was very kind and let us know it would be no problem at all, when we arrived the pub looked beautiful with all its decorations for Christmas and we were greeted by lovely staff who led us to our table and showed us how to order online as this was easier due to there being 6 of us. The cocktails were amazing I ended up having at least 5 of them! All of our dinners came out in a timely manor and we all cleared our plates it was the best steak my husband has had for ages, the kids portions were perfect size and great value for money across the whole menu! We stayed until 9 which by then they had music entertainment for the night which was lovely everyone around us was having a great time and we definitely would’ve stayed the whole evening if the kids wasn’t with us. We have rebooked a table for myself,husband and friends for this coming Saturday as we loved it so much and can’t wait to come back !

We visited today and can honestly say we were blown away by the food. I had the sausage and mash and my other half had the giant gyros. My sausages were quality, well cooked and tasty. The gravy was not the usual dark brown Bisto. The atmosphere is great and all staff friendly. Love the loyalty scheme too. Highly recommend.

11 of us went out for a birthday celebration, 7 adults 4 children. Went to bar ordered drink, Bar staff was very friendly and accomodating. Had a drink and then was shown to our table, Waiter came over and explained how to order the food, as you have to go to bar and order. All starters came up together along with childrens mains, then all adults dinners came out together, every meal was piping hot and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Prices was very reasonable

Who wouldn't love a pub that doesn't have inflated prices for food and drink, and both being very nice for a cheaper price!! For a Saturday night, we got a table, ordered food and drink that was served in an acceptable time frame, and overall had a lovely evening!! Thank you.

Flat lemonade then none,2 bar workers lovely, 1 barman rude, newly refurbished place looks good but service from one ruined the experience for me!!!

Me and my partner came here for lunch and when we arrived we were greeted by kind and respectful staff.The pub was welcoming and inviting,we ordered the Mac and cheese and my partner got the sizzling beef rib.the food was delicious and came out in a timely manner.would definitely be coming back and would also recommend it to my friends and family.

Wow!!!! Vistited The Castle Pub with a group of friends on a Thursday eve. The pub itself had just been refurbed and looked amazing inside and out. Every member of staff were happy and very helpfull. The food was very good and extremley good value, especialy with our 40% off voucher. Will definately be going back and would recommend The Castle to all of my friends and family.

Went for lunch today at the castle, me, my husband and our 3 year old son we was seated in the restaurant with a warm welcoming from the team who was working. I must say the new decor has made a massive impact on this pub and it looks amazing. My husband ordered double fish and chips and i ordered the classic mixed grill and my son had chicken nuggets for under 6 and i must say with the 40% off was a great deal on main meals. The food was lovely and hot my steak was soooo tender it melted in my mouth! My husband also commented that his fish was cooked to perfection and the smell was mouth watering. All in all great experience will definitely be coming back for more😍😍

Just returned from a lovely lunch. I had Sirloin steak which was very tender and cooked perfectly. My partner had the lay it on chicken burger, he said that was lovely too. Relaxing atmosphere, very friendly staff and good value for money, will be back soon, thanks guys🥰

No food just some quick drinks today. Good prices for non alcoholic lager of which there was plenty available. Pleasant and efficient staff. You must enter your vehicle reg into a computer.

The restaurant has had a revamp and looks very nice. On the downside. I ordered fish and chips. There was hardly any batter on the fish. It came out almost white not yellow or golden and the battle was wet and fell off. I was Supposed to have peas with it but no peas came out, my wife had Cajun chicken wrap but not much chicken in it and left feeling hungry still only a handful of chips about 12 chips in all and She said that it was ok. Her chips looked and tasted fresh but mine was like they had been cooked again very dark brown and oily.

The pub has just reopened after redecoration. Sadly the improvements stoped with the new paint and refurbished toilets. The barman was very rude. We ordered food before 6.30 when the dining room was not even half full and it took over an hour to arrive (we were lucky, the table next to us had to wait for 2 hours) when it did 3 out of the 4 meals were wrong. Doubled up on the chicken in the hunters chicken, only got one piece and it was tiny and unpleasant, the peas were like bullets and extremely shrivelled, they looked like they had been dug out of the back of the freezer having been languishing there for several years. The fish and chips were ordered with baked beans, we got peas. The fish was nicely cooked and hot but no flavour. A medium rare steak was not only well done but tough and full of gristle. Even a staff member commented how over done it was. They couldn’t even get the drinks order correct, and barman complained when this was pointed out. An orange juice and lemonade had the cap of the orange juice floating among the ice. Mentioned to the manager as she was passing and she shrugged it off. We have been regularly in the past but will not be going again. We understand it is the first night to reopen but the staff etc. were the same and they have only been closed for a couple of weeks. It’s not like they needed to be trained etc. and it was regularly as busy before.

Busy in the evenings as there's always something on! Love popping in here with hubby and our dog - she is given loads of love and treats, particularly from Mary ❤️ good food promptly delivered and we're always asked how we are. Love it, although they're closed for a refurb from Sunday 😱

First time at The Castle for many years. Went in just because we were passing, but glad we did. Food was excellent and fantastic value at £11.75 for two meals. Great and very friendly service by Mary. Will return.

Fantastic day at The Castle, as always. Always feel very welcome here, Una and her team are fantastic, and go above and beyond. We recently held an end of season Buffett for our girls under 10’s team, and nothing was to much trouble. In the days where pubs are going down the drain, this pub should be celebrated by the local community. A proper pub, run by proper people.

We came last night ( 25/03/24) , it was extremely quiet. However, the food was absolutely lovely! The chef happened to pop out the kitchen whilst we were ordering at the bar, and he was very friendly and happy to have our meals to cook , as it was so quiet! When the food arrived, it was presented beautifully and we all enjoyed our meals throughly. The young lady and young man behind the man were both very polite and friendly too. A lovely local pub feel. We will return, thank you.

Had the most wonderful experience at The Castle bar and restaurant at Hadleigh Essex , Mary at the bar was polite , served with a smile , I would recommend a drink and food here to all . Was my first visit and very looking forward to coming back again , they have live bands Saturdays which I hear are awesome , thank you to all staff at the castle including Una and for making my first visit a great experience .

The castle has a Warm friendly feel & very good attentive staff who welcomed my 9 y/o twin boys & myself.

The staff were so helpful and the communication was amazing really love this place and will definitely be coming back as this was our first visit

Tuesday lunchtime visit, friendly staff, food arrived hot and tasted good

It looks a little run down from the street, but inside it's nice and clean. Good food and a good drink selection for a reasonable price. The toilets were clean and service was swift. Went in on a Sunday about 1pm and it was fairly quiet (possibly due to the presence of a McDonalds next door) and easily found a table in the conservatory. I had jerk chicken skewers and my wife had a burger. Both were really delicious and well recommended.

Wasn't overcrowded, and there was a choice of eating in the bar which was showing the football, or the conservatory which had background music playing. The food was excellent, and we didn't have to wait ages to be served. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely go again.

I'm sorry that I didn't leave a review after my Father's wake was held here back in October. The service and food was great and Una arranged everything without any fuss. We had the conservatory to ourselves and never felt rushed. My Father used to come to the pub and I was brought up in Hadleigh, unfortunately my previous experience last Xmas was not good, but this more than made up for it on what was a sad day for us. I hear that the pub is having a much needed refurbishment in January and I wish you all the best for the future, I look forward to seeing it when we can.

I booked the buffet for my husband's wake at the Castle pub Hadleigh . The food was fantastic and plenty of it . It was present in an appetizing way. We had the whole of the conservatory for the get together and no other customers were allowed to come in , so it was a private function. The staff were friendly and amazing and nothing too much trouble. I can recommend the Castle buffet food for any occasion and for the price we paid was excellent. Don't be put off by the low cost because everyone enjoyed the quality of the food .
