After reading some of the reviews on here I was a bit apprehensive about the carvery. I shouldn't have been, the food was excellent - beautifully cooked beef and lovely hot vegetables cooked perfectly. Nice hot plates too. The only slight criticism I have is that the dining room had too many tables, too close together, which meant it was impossible to get up for the carvery without inconveniencing diners on adjoining tables. The sweets looked lovely but the one I chose (coffee and walnut gateau) was obviously mass produced and rather tasteless. Staff were very pleasant and the building very attractive inside.

Como dice o promete! Un asador encantador, elección de por lo menos 2 cargas de verduras y carnes en determinadas noches te dan un dulce gratis.

12 unhappy guests at my birthday lunch yesterday. We were packed in like sardines and unable to move. Getting your lunch and then trying to eat it with your arms cramped down at your side was not a pleasant way to have to eat. Management not interested in hearing our concerns about the seating. Because so many people had been packed into the room it was extremely hot and it was the most uncomfortable and unpleasant dining experience I have ever had. Needless to say we will not be going back. Come on Langford arms, surely your diners deserve better!!!!

Went to the Langport today for my Sisters 60th birthday lunch. Had the Sunday Carvery. The food was really nice (typical Sunday roast) & the "Ye Oldey worldy" feel to the place was really atmospheric. However, the service was less so. We were being urged & ushered in to the dining area at 1.00 pm, for a 1.15 booking, and had to explain not all 12 of the party were here as yet... Once in, it was quite ridiculous that the dining room was over subscribed. i.e. far too many tables for the size of the room. Our party of 12 felt so cramped around our table, the waiters couldn't even get to us to clear plates, etc. Equally, when we had to all get up again to go get our carvery it was like a military operation! A table for 12 & we were all pinned in a corner, with walls on two sides of us and the adjoining tables, mere inches away.. you can imagine the chaos...and if you were seated at the back & far corner & needed the loo for example, well forget it! All we could hear around the room was "Sorry, excuse me, oops, sorry, would you mind, can I just squeeze past"...etc. It just felt like the management were more concerned about "bums on seats", than a comfortable dining experience. (I'm a 6ft tall+ bloke, and had to eat my dinner sideways on to the table, for lack of leg room.) The room was packed, stuffy & uncomfortable. There were just too many tables for the size of the room. I just got the impression it was profit & turnaround/covers over service & a comfortable dining experience. What a shame & as my Sister pointed out "It's a false economy, because we won't be back again."

We eat here at least twice a month, and have never been disappointed, very reasonably priced, and nice having a roast mid week, not just offered on a Sunday. The only fault would be is that the choice of vegetables doesnt change, it would be nice too see different ones. Roast potatoes are great.

Well you certainly can't fault either the food or the price when you visit here for the Sunday lunch carvery. I'm a vegetarian and they did me a very tasty cheese and leek bake which was lovely, as were the perfectly cooked vegetables on offer. So all in all very nice. Yes it is quite tired inside (& very warm), but somehow this just adds to its charm. So if you are looking for the traditional, you can't go far wrong.

A friend of mine and I decided that we would try the takeaway Christmas Lunch at £25 per head for three courses. We both had the Duck liver with Armagnac paté starter. This was obviously bought in but was quite acceptable. The roll that accompanied it was not really fresh. The portions of turkey and beef were generous and quite agreeable. However there were none of the traditional trimmings with the turkey i.e. no chipolata or bacon nor bread sauce though there was a generous portion of gravy. The roast potatoes were undercooked and soggy with no sign of crispness. The carrots and tinned sweet-corn were OK but the Brussels sprouts were like bullets. The star of the meal was the Chestnut Pavlova that was superb. Without that we would have been completely dissatisfied. Overall a very disappointing, and seriously overpriced meal. Never again.

Went to the cavery restaurant for dinner - the main course was good with plenty of meat (although only 2 choices and no vegetarian option). Veg not over cooked. The big let down though is the 1980s decor and the desserts. The place is really old fashioned and in desperate need of a revamp. The desserts are left out on a chiller plate right next to the meat. They do offer ice cream but serving vanilla, chocolate and strawberry in a metal dish is so reminiscent of 1980s it really isn't very appealing. In all a reasonable place but don't expect modern.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, the room was clean and the breakfast was quite nice. The actual pub was a mess, very run down and depressing. We were booked for two nights but came home after the first day ...... would not recommend this hotel.

First time in this pub for a few years. Always a good cheap meal to be had and nothing has changed. Pleasant and clean pub and we three enjoyed the fish and chips. Pleasant staff and good tasting food. Well presented and the puddings were tasty, perhaps a bit pricey though. However an interesting experience and one we would perhaps repeat at a later date.

Not the great time here, waited ages to be served and the pub only had a few customers. The cook wasn’t cooked properly and the light above was just bizarre. Staff were friendly so that’s something positive
