Today we had a family Sunday roast at The Carpenters today with my Brother and SisterinLawwho live in Lincoln. We're from Surrey. The food and service was superb and can not be faulted. I had my 1st Christmas dinner of the year. Everyone else had the roast pork. Thank you to the delightful staff who treated us with professionalism and great humour. We're due back to Lincoln later this year and will be returning to The Carpenters Fiskerton. Nowhere else will do!!!!

Back again after two years and just had to have the stilton, mushroom and chicken again. Was just as tasty and delicious as before. Other half had the liver and bacon and was pleased with it apart from the inedible cabbage. Pleasant welcome, friendly staff and lovely clean and fresh decor.

we were there for a birthday lunch. The staff were friendly and the service was quick but you really need to take sea bass off your menu at £16.99 if you don't know how to cook and present this lovely fish. One overcooked dried up piece on a bed of lumpy mashed potato. peas . and when querying the lack of a sauce which usually accompanies sea bass was told they only did tartar if we wanted it. Incidentally my husbands gammon, egg ,chips, mushrooms, etc was he said delicious.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here - there were 18 of us, all served quickly and efficiently. The food was good - I had gammon and it was chunky with good chips as well. I'd recommend the burger, I eyed it enviously across the table! Staff were all great, couldn't have been more accommodating.

I came in last week with my girls and was served by a lovely barmaid who was the owners daughter, she went out of her way to make sure we was satisfied. We all had a really nice time and the food was amazing, very quick service but didn’t feel like we was in a rush, big menu to choose from so can cater to everyone, and sweets were lovely and again lots to choose from, I will definitely be visiting again soon.

Well ..... we've driven past many times - just collected a new car for my wife and had decided to book a table the night before for lunch to celebrate ..... so pleased we did! Food was very good; staff friendly; lovely relaxed atmosphere - we weren't 'rushed' and had a very enjoyable time. It was very clean - toilets 'spotless' and we felt completely 'at home' It won't be the last time we will visit - live in Horncastle and will definitely make the journey again - talked to the owner - she said many people have admitted 'just driving by' ..... don't make that mistake it's really spacious inside and certainly worth 'stopping off' The prices are very reasonable too - food nicely proportioned - really good value for money .... and many dishes to try out on the Menu. I did book in advance by telephone for Sunday lunch but when we got there it was not noted down but thankfully we got a table in this nice busy county pub. I had the roast beef lunch with vegetables at £11.95 and others had the pork belly which was the same price and both being delicious and plentiful. We had a bottle of white wine between us at £19, then 3 of us had desserts at £5.75 each and again scrumptious.

I have to start by saying the food was as lovely as it always is but the visit was spoilt by a member of staff. The bar operative M.. was rude and uncivil from the start. She was too interested in her paperwork to give us her full attention and said the kitchen was closed. When we queried how long the kitchen stayed open she said we could have something if we ordered straight away. She gave us a menu to read in the dark - no lights on so my husband couldn’t see; so I had to read out to him. She argued with him about what peas he could have and virtually called him a liar when he stated what he had had on our previous visit two weeks ago. Throughout the visit she was loud and uncouth ‘bawling’ across bar and restaurant. At the end I said I wasn’t leaving a tip £ but I was giving her a tip - she needs to improve her manners and civility and at the very least go on a customer service course to learn how to treat and deal with customers.

Actually I went for lunch one day and dinner the next. The staff are attentive, friendly and polite. Lunch was beef sandwich, the bread was very fresh and the beef just melted in your mouth. For dinner I had a steak, a special treat. I was not disappointed. Cooked how I liked it. All that came with it accompanied it well. I noticed everyone helped each other and the waitress we had for dinner was very knowledgeable, friendly. I later found out she had only been working there for a short while, well done. The Carpenters Arms is now my pub of choice, I highly recommend this establishment, you won’t be disappointed.

Went for Sunday lunch with the family. Big Mistake. Honestly had better school dinners. Two roast potatoes which were hard, a lump of mash potatoes, hard carrots, runny gravy with no consistency to it. The Yorkshire pudding was ok. The meat looked poor quality and overall the meal was flavourless. Not what you want when you go out with your family I honestly am surprised by this rating. Poor food, the bill paying was also a bit weird, staff seemed reluctant to bring the payment machine over as I saw several having to go to the bar because staff couldn’t be bothered. Outside there is Queen’s jubilee bunting still there presumably because nobody could be bothered to take it down this just shows you don’t care. Don’t go the food is really very poor. I felt misled by the star rating and we won’t be going back

Had not been anywhere properly since lockdown but we chose Carpenters for their reputation and thought we could give them try for Sunday lunch as we lived fairly local. We had not been there for years..Staff were excellent and welcoming.Soup starters were hot and delicious. I ordered the roast beef and my wife the chicken in mushroom sauce for mains.Somewhat disappointed with the quality/quantity of the beef. It was a bit stringy and tough. despite being cut thinly. The knife I was provided with had difficulty cutting through it.It gave me the impression it had not been cooked this same morning. and was reheated with the small amount of gravy it came in. I could have asked for more gravy I suppose.I appreciate we are in difficult times and 'hosts' are doing their best for us all but I was disappointed with my beef..My beef at home is able to be sliced if kept warm 2/3 hours after cooking and is not tough and melts in my and my guests mouth's.We will go again to give them another go in a month or so if we are allowed..

We visited the pub on September 9th about 6.30pm. Normally the food was good, but haven't been for over a year since the last bad experience. There were no proper staff, and hardly any customers. In fact, one couple walked out presumably in disgust. Eventually, the one lady that was serving took our order. Her attitude was not good. The two meals that turned up were very poor. My lady friend had what was supposed to be a beef lasagne. It was disgusting, and she left it, along with the awful frozen chips. I had a barbecued chicken breast that was very poor and tasted as if it had been reheated. As with the other meal, the chips were those awful frozen things. I complained to the lady serving and she was unconcerned. When I paid the bill, I also complained to the licencee - who was also uninterested. The Carpenters Arms was always a delight to visit for the service and first rate food. Not now. It was truly awful. I used to be a regular for Sunday Lunch - but never again. Everybody has suffered in the current crisis, but this is not the way to encourage future trade. Shame on the current team.....

We booked at TCA for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and was looking forward to going somewhere new. On arrival the pubs been tastefully decorated and given a once over, good first impressions, but food and service let the experience down. Sunday dinner tasted like it was cooked earlier in the week and reheated (old meat), the waiting on staff were nowhere to be seen at times. Still not to be deterred we gave the place another shot a couple of weeks later for a family birthday celebration....Wow, how wrong was we to do so! At the time we booked in there was a large table of about 20 or so people, and a few others dining, after waiting an hour for starters (twice we had to ask when we would be served as we had two, 2 year olds getting hangry) and then a further 45 minutes for mains. You guys need really need to look at your bookings and space them out appropriately and apologies at the table would help with a clear understanding of when your food is coming, not to be fobbed off with “it will be here in a couple of minutes” turning into a further 20. Sorry but you’ve just lost 8 peoples votes for returning!

We booked at the Carpenters Arms for food Christmas Eve and booked for 5 adults and a highchair. When we got there the highchair hadn't been put out which is fine and the staff got us one. Halfway through our meal one of the waitress tried to kick my little boy our of his highchair to give to the other table as they only had 2 highchairs and said the other table had booked for 2 highchairs! Now considering both tables had booked for highchairs so they had advanced warning this situation might occur and my little boy was halfway through his meal I found this exceptionally rude. For a place of this size to only have 3 highchairs is ludicrous especially as cafe's usually have more than 2 let alone a put. The family next to us actually wanted 3 highchairs which was never going to happen but they still took the booking! In the end a member of staff went home and brought their own personal highchair in to resolve the situation. Highchairs can be bought from £12 nowadays so there no excuse about cost - it's just not good enough. Definitely not family friendly. This is the second time we have had bad service here (although the first time was about 3 years ago so we thought it might have improved and gave it another go). The food was really nice and the tables were decorated lovely which is why I haven't given just 1 star.

This is a classic old English public house that has been taken over and under the new owners become a classic English pub eatery. At the front there is the "pub" and at the rear a dinning room. The tables are laid out with linen. The ambiance is just right for a quiet meal. It does cater for larger groups so be aware if the "mother's union" or "ladies that lunch" or "family event" is on it can be a little noisy.

We heard a lot about this restaurant, just east of Lincoln a lovely rural setting, so we gave it a try Easter Saturday. The dining room is well laid out, the decor is unusual but attractive, and the menu is big and varied. We enjoyed generous and delicious starters and mains. Portions were gargantuan and delicious, beautifully presented and served. The staff were attentive but unobtrusive. For a pair of septuagenarians the portions, although excellent in quality, were over generous, and we retired, beaten, to the garden to recover. A "light bites" menu would be an asset for diners who are happy with more modest portions. Nevertheless, a most enjoyable experience.

As number 1 fan of Dunelm's Pausa Cafe, for the Mother to suggest we try somewhere else on a Saturday means it has to be really quite good or (at 80yrs young) she has got it completely round her neck and has actually heard about the quality of the "guns" on the local joiner.....

Came across from Leeds and had such a lovely meal. Amazing atmosphere in the pub from both staff and other customers, the food is spectacular and the portion sizes are a great value for money! I always end up leaving with a full tummy! I would always recommend having a dessert here, with a list as long as your arm there is something for everyone. Landlady is always happy and smiling - even when you can tell they are packed. Would suggest booking as tonight they were running out of tables - full of happy customers!

Having booked onto the CL campsite in Fiskerton we checked Trips Advisor for local eateries. The Carpenters Arms was not only local but had good reviews. We were not disappointed our meals were generous, hot and well presented. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The bill at the end was a pleasant surprise. We would have no hesitation in recommending a visit.

Our favourite eatery when visiting Lincoln. Excellent food, lovely welcoming staff and a pleasant atmosphere. About 15 mins drive from Lincoln City Centre.

Couldn't fault our recent family visit. Great friendly and efficient service. Good menu and prices. Food was hot, delicious and good portions. Traditional Sunday lunch was lovely and I'd highly recommend the sweets. The only problem I have is deciding whether to go for treacle sponge, chocolate fudge cake or blueberry cheese as they are all my favourites. Looking forward to my next visit.

Whilst away in our caravan we visited Lincoln, where our son and his fiancé live. We pitched up in Fiskerton and agreed to book a meal for the four of us at the local pub. The choice of drinks was very good and the local al s were of a very high standard. The menu had some delicious options and we were all very happy with our choices. The good arrived hot and well presented with large enough portions for us to be happy with just the mains. After staying for a couple of hours and having had a couple of drinks we were pleasantly surprised with the final bill. This is well worth a visit if you are in the area and we will certainly be going back here in the future.

What a fantastic little pub! We called here as walk in's for Sunday lunch and what a great meal we had. The owners and staff were very welcoming and attentive. The food was excellent and would certainly recommend this place. To avoid disappointment I would say maybe call ahead to book as I think we were lucky today as it is a very busy place.

Decided to try the Carpenters has had good feedback from family and friends. All I can say is excellent. Food was very tasty, and very filling, almost too much food. Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Nice setting and homely. Will definitely go back but will make sure I haven't eaten before I go.

Table booked, first time we had been. It was very cosy and appeared very busy. We ordered 2 starters, one pate it looked delicious and fresh but we was both surprised at the thin slithe and it’s not greed but not enough even though a starter. The garlic mushrooms was hot tasty. The mains 2 roast beef lunches, the beef Beautiful one roast and 2 scoops of mash, another roast and some more veg to go with the beef would of been better. The treacle sponge ice cream great, the roulade and summer berries was ok, but I called waitress back asked where the berries was and got told then they ran out, nothing else offered and again it was a very thin slice of roulade for the price. A cosy village pub and very clean. We may try again.

Hadn’t been to the Carpenter’s Arms for sometime but decided to have Sunday Lunch there with family. I am pleased to say that it was as good as ever! It had been tastefully redecorated since our previous visit and everywhere was clean and fresh. The busy staff were lovely - friendly and polite! The food was excellent, hot, well-cooked and a good selection for Sunday lunch which was very reasonable at £9.95. Three of us had Ginger sponge and custard - which was huge and delicious! Thank you everyone, we shall be back again very soon!

Just visited today as part of a group of eight and the standard of food and service was a rare treat. All had roast dinners which were served with fresh seasonal vegetables all cooked to perfection. Thank you to all concerned.

Nice surroundings and atmosphere. Great place to meet up with friends. Food was nice. Very good value for money. You get large portions for your money. I had the Brie starter, ribs main and roulade desert. The ribs were the best I’ve had but overall it was good. Nice to see a village pub busy!

Como alguien que tiene alergias severas a los alimentos, a veces es difícil encontrar un lugar que incluso sirva cualquier cosa que pueda comer. Aunque no aquí.

We sadly lost a family member and contacted the Black Horse to host the wake. From point of contact with Josh to the actual event, was dealt with professionally and with sympathy. On the day it went smoothly and we were welcomed warmly. We were taken care of the entire time and the buffet that was laid out for us was beyond expectations. Even with a late add on of numbers, which was despite the lateness not a problem. The supply of constant tea and coffee was welcomed by our guests. Cannot fault or thank the team enough for their attention and care of our family in a difficult time.

Had lunch there with my husband today and we both had the Wolds platter which was substantial and very tasty. Beautifully presented and using local cheeses and meats. Highly recommended and we will return to sample more of their varied menu in the near future.
