The Captains Table in Isle of Wight

Popped in for a snack with a student, so needed a VAT receipt. Asked if they did them, to get a fairly rude response of no, back. Then I said an itemised receipt would be fine. After a mistake they then made at the till, they struggled to get me a receipt. The lady who served us was so rude asking why I should need an itemised receipt for just chips. She said she couldn’t fix the problem as the staff member who works on the till had already gone home, and “what did she want me to do about it?!!” To make things worse, she was the owner! Very rude. Will not be returning.

This was a great find along the seafront in Ryde, IOW. Staff were super friendly and lunch was delicious. Great selection on their menu, breakfasts too.

Great food and tremendous value. A big portion of freshly battered cod, skin on chips, slad and tartare sauce. Must be the best value in Ryde. Super taste to the cod. Don't miss out. Friendly staff too!

What an amazing little gem we found in Ryde! Stopped here to grab something to eat and we were overwhelmed with the quality of the food. Perfectly cooked with love by Jason the chef and served by Kaz. The fries, panini, scampi all ver well cooked and well presented with the freshest salad I've seen for long time. Thank you for being part of our holidays. For sure to come back again!

Fabulous lunch today with our huge family - every meal was delicious, fresh and hot. The kids chicken nuggets were home made and chunky - crab cakes, jacket potatoes and paninis all great. Staff friendly and everything clean 😇 Literally 5 stars for this beach side cafe xx

Had my Goddaughter and parents came here 9 July. Food was very good. Our friend had a burger, which he said it was one of the best, cooked nice n fresh. Didn't wait to long. Toilet was very clean. If there was anything I didn't like was where the outside tables were, could done with a good sweep, as old knives, forks and rubbish, but that it. Inside was very clean and nice n cool. Great guys

We fancied fish and chips as we were by the sea, and spotted the Captain’s Table had that on offer. Really good service from the front of desk, helpful and friendly. Didn’t have to wait to long before our order was done. It’s important to note it is not a fish and chips shop, so what we had in mind in terms of quality, taste, aroma did not arrive. It appeared to be overcooked batter, the fish was bland, the chips were more like fries, and so no one we recommend. Sorry, as we don’t like leaving a negative review. We hope the chef improves what is given to the customer to earn good plaudits.

Nice little cafe just over the road from the beach. Sandwiches were prepared reasonably quickly, were good and value for money. Not much more to say

We had fish and chips,on arriving they look very nice and tasty. The chips where the best part of the meal, the fish was very greasy and where not cooked in the middle

Ordered a burger and was served mouldy bread. I did get a refund but will never return. The place could also do with a good clean

Really disappointed with todays visit, we had 2 TPIW vouchers for fish and chips, Everything is served on paper plates and paper cups, even when we were eating in. Fish was really greasy and very heavily battared ( not that much fish) asked for some Tartare Sauce to have with my fish and was told it was extra, I’ve never been charged for tartare sauce ever, anywhere ! Refused to pay, and the chips were weird, and really salty! Nothing like normal chips. Definitely won’t be back.

So just stopped off for a quick coffee thought great large flat white so grabbed two, cups are massive, taste massively dissatisfied maybe a taste thing, but when you’ve been served a latte with the grinds still in the bubbles and no foam sorry guys but auto coffee machines, training or even you tube great videos available that show what and how a flat white is made so my apologies but coffee it’s not, boiled water with flavour is closer. Nescafé instant flat white would have been better.

Went on a Wednesday morning before 12:30pm for breakfast and ordered two mini-breakfasts; one gluten free. They both arrived within 10 minutes in take-away containers. They were delicious with egg, potato, beans, ham, sausage and one order with bread. The container are compostable and the utensils, wooden - both earth friendly!

On Monday my husband and I went for a swim in the morning, and had promised ourselves breakfast on the beach afterwards. We went to the Captain’s Table to buy takeaway breakfasts, I had a mini breakfast, my husband a medium one. We took them back to the beach with two coffees. Both of these breakfasts were excellent, the service was good, the staff friendly and all COVID-19 regulations were adhered to. Toilet very clean. I was very impressed, so much so that we went back on Tuesday. I highly recommend this.

I had a lovely gluten free breakfast it had sausages hash browns and bread. It was amazing then went to beach and came back for cake and ice cream followed by feeding the ducks. It's a lovely location

I have never had fish that doesn't taste of anything before, even my 6 year old said it was disgusting... low grade, frozen fish badly cooked, it couldn't get more revolting... the chips were fine. Avoid this place at all costs.

Tasty food, great chips and quick service. Doing a good job in the C-19 restrictions but quite pricey menu when feeding teenagers in the school holidays! Toilets currently closed due to C-19 restrictions which puts pressure on the ladies public loos with lengthy queues.
