Harbour House in Isle of Wight

First found this gem 3 years ago and made a point of going back whenever we are on the island which is about 6 times a year. Staff are fun yet professional and seating on a warm day is fab. Food is consistently top level and we always clear our plates. Seriously I think this is on par with the hut in Colwell bay but so much cheaper.

Great range of tapas and the seafood is on point.

Went last night my husband and I. We both had the garlic prawns and scallops dish on a bed of lettuce, 4 prawns and 3 small scallops, Luke warm and well overpriced. The service is poor, dirty, no cutlery until we asked,also no serviettes, we asked for some and the young lad bought some screwed up blue roll. £24 each for the food, very very poor. Lovely view, that’s the only positive we had

We popped in on Sunday of scooter rally weekend so very busy but managed to get a table. We ordered the burgers which came within 15 mins and were absolutely delicious. Chips also really good. Lovely atmosphere, great views,good coctails and beers and good food.

Great place for food and drinks. Recommend the lamb fries for a good size snack.

Had a great time there on Monday. Drinks served with a smile and staff that seemed genuinely happy to see you This afternoon was completely different. The place was empty. So the two of us sat on a table with four chairs because those tables have the best views. Even before our bums hit the seats a staff member pounced and told us that when they get busy we would be expected to move to a 2 seat table. I calculated the vacant seats on 4 seaters. It came to 48. I would of thought her interset in customer comfort would be better served in drying the rain soaked seats or making sure orders for food were taken correctly and we would not have been offered several dishes, not ours , endlessly. The labelling is also disingenuous. It looks like it says it offers Isle of Wight steak , Seafood, but it is actually only the BUTTER that is locally sourced. £34 .00 for an 8oz steak is ridiculous. I saw a holidaymaker ask what sauce it came with, only to be told , in its own juices lol

We ate at this restaurant 1.08.24. The place itself is quite nice and the view is good. Hygiene is not very good (the cutlery was outside, got dusty and the sauces were packed like in Mc Donalds, laying in the sun). We ordered the most expensive dish Tiger prawns salad. Before I ordered I asked about the amount of the prawns, the waiter said 7. In the end we had three prawns, a lot of lettuce, tree-four tomatoes, two pieces of lemon, three pieces of sourdough baguette (not tasty) and three scalops. Prawns were cold and didn’t look like grilled. Scalops looked like they were. The salad cost 24£. Which I think is a bit too pricey for the amount and place. (In comparison tiger prawns on the local fish shop cost 17£ a kilo: 44 of them.) they could put at least 7 for that price, to be honest.

There was some kind of glitch and it took over an hour to get the burger that went with my pint. Otherwise, a fantastic place to chill, eat and drink, and not expensive, especially considering its great location at the start of the prom, opposite the marina. Good beer. Good burger, and server and barman were friendly and attentive, bringing water for the dog and apologising for the mixup. Recommend.

Brilliant food for perhaps a bit expensive, but very good nonetheless! I personally ate their Fish and Chips and they provide an excellent twist on it that you must try yourself!! The view of the channel is superb and the location is superb!

As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a lovely staff member, who made us feel accommodated and comfortable straight away by assuring us that we had made excellent food and drink choices. When it arrived, the food and drinks were absolutely amazing, the best we’ve had on the island. It felt like we were on holiday and the atmosphere was very relaxed and summery. Overall, tapas and cocktails were brill, and the staff were amazing, thank you so much :)

I could have stayed all afternoon. The sunny day allowed us to sit outside with a great view of the harbour and boats. The original plan was a drink as recommended by our son from a previous holiday. So we sat with the Caribbean cocktails which were so refreshing. Seeing the standard of the food and what was on the tapas menu we extended our stay. Some lovely light flavours and the ideal environment.

The best part of the experience was the view....the rest was a let down. Staff not really interested in the customers, food was passable, the squid was soggy, the gambas pil pil had 2 prawns in the dish and the lamb fries weren't even fries. Pretty expensive for not a lot really, there is nothing about this place that would make me want to go back unfortunately

We visited here last Thursday .lovely food and cocktails. It started raining heavy which wasn't expected. Manager and staff were amazing ,went above and beyond in making sure we were all looked after .love this place .Highly recommended.

A lovely venue on a nice evening. Vibey music great views. Staff all nice, chatty and friendly. I had the Moules Marinières, which were horrendous and wouldn't recommend, the mussels tasted like they were frozen and the sauce tasted like buttery pancake batter with bits of parsley, there was no flavour of garlic or white wine or anything else ... I would definitely go back because everyone was nice and the location is great ... But I just wouldn't get the mussels again.

Fabulous place for food and cocktails right on the marina. Staff make a special holiday buzz and atmosphere. Even better when the sun is setting after a full on day too.

Food was slow but delicious! The fish & chips were huge! The curry mussels were also really good - we loved dipping the chips in the sauce.

Fantastic spot next to the sea. The tapas was amazing! Beautifully cooked and plentiful. Great cocktails too. A little pricey but definitely worth it. The staff and the service were great.

We love this place. One of our "go-to" establishments when we visit Ryde.

Just got in from being out at sea and popped into this bar/restaurant Has to be the most scenic bar in Ryde I had the most amazing meatballs with a a lovely homemade red pepper sauce with hand cut chips. I have to say how lovely it was - and will be asking for the secret recipe Thanks guys

Party of 17 elderly people on holiday had the most amazing meal looked after by the staff, the waitress was lovely, they were very attentive and nothing too much trouble, one of the best meals out in our week stay, well done you deserve to do well and thank you, we would definitely eat here again if we visit.

Lovely place right on the front of the harbour. Wonderful food and I tried the cotton candy fizz which was lovely!! Lovely relaxed atmosphere with music in the back ground.

This premises is located by Eastern Gardens, Ryde, Isle of Wight. Situated at overlooking the harbour, with clear views across the Solent. We (two family members) visited it during the recent Armed Forces Weekend activities taking place in the immediate area. It took three attempts for us to actually be seated as the first two attempts there it seemed to be not enough staff around to carry out the role of Front of House as we couldn’t get anyone to notice us patiently standing in the appropriate placement, HOWEVER once seated we looked over the menu and chose our meals and drinks, another wait in a queue at the bar to place the order. I should point out here that each table has brass numbers on them (smart looking identifiers) but these were red hot due to the sun and did cause occasional pain if touched by arms! The food arrived and to be honest, it was delicious. Good size portions and beautifully presented and tasted amazing! Despite the grumbles above I have given 5 star review as the staff were very pleasant and the food was excellent! Just glad we didn’t give up trying to be seated! Would definitely go again.

Awesome place, great vibe tasty food!

We called in here and parked near the marina area and found this lovely place to have a drink. We were just passing time actually before our ferry crossing back to the mainland but our visit was just perfect. The manageress served us superb coffee's etc and we all sat out on the terrace area to enjoy the views and the sunshine. We stayed just one hour but loved the service and the location.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon, sun was shining , music playing great vibe that’s where it ended. Had a round of drinks for 4 ( two cocktails which took ages) ordered second round , decided to order food. No receipt given. When food order arrived it was wrong, explained to the two young waitresses it was wrong, they took food away came back with a receipt to say we had made a mistake which we hadn’t ( had we been given a receipt at time of order we could’ve told them that they had put it through wrong) Then took it away again. When the order arrived one portion of dirty fries was stone cold. When I approached the manager he offered to get us another one , but by this time I was past it . Had waited so long. He didn’t seem that bothered that his customers were not happy. To add futher insult when entering the bar area to use the toilet the two young waitresses gave me the biggest dirty looks. At this point I had to tell them there was no need for that sought of behaviour. The bar area was really dirty and whilst waiting I could see into the kitchen where a young lad was rolling a cigarette. Will not return for food. Guys with the cost of living crisis you need local customers. After all you may not survive on a 12 week summer window.

Terrible service. Was waiting for my coctails for ages. Bartender was by her self I would understand if busy but it wasn't. She take my order and after she was just chatting with her friend. My coctail looks like been made with off cream.

A great place to sit with friends, either with a cuppa, or a cocktail (they make delicious Mojitos) , overlooking the harbour & the bay. We were only in Ryde for 2 days, but went twice. The staff were helpful & friendly, on both occasions.

I visited the harbour house, very disorganised got the orders mixed up and very small portions for what you pay. The childrens meals were actually better than the other meals. Will never go again!

Booked a meal at this restaurant 7:30. Then told kitchen closed at 8pm. Cutlery was handed to us filthy.. Asked for a couple of dishes, prawn tampura and something else, not available... Burgers were overpriced at £14.00 Nothing special...here. Stick to what you can do, making cocktails @£9.00 a pop.

Service was terrible, cutlery was filthy and the best thing about the food was the tiny helping of coleslaw amazed it was a busy as it was??

The food looks better than it tasted!! The chaps serving were really friendly but really under staffed.. Waited nearly an hour for 2 tapas dishes and Moules Very little taste from the muscles albeit big portion, I didn't like the bread really and no butter Lamb fries weren't really what we expected, more like a left over roast dinner thrown on some wedges Salt and pepper squid zero taste Sorry to say as it looked a cool place and like I said friendly staff..

I was doubtful, being a wooden beach bar, but it was excellent. A good selection of cocktails, and our meals were excellent. My burger was really good (very few are) - really succulent, with mozzarella and slaw. Recommended. Not sure about the pumpin' music though.

My wife and I visited for a afternoon drink and later in the week we visited in the evening. It’s gotta be the best bar with the view of the Solent in Ryde. We enjoyed sitting in the sunshine watching the yachts from the harbour and the larger boats on the Solent. On Friday evening we watched several of the large cruise ships go by. The drinks were excellent, great price only £5 for a pint of cool refreshing top end larger. My wife had a decent glass or two of white. There was a great selection of people there in the evening enjoying themselves we saw many cocktails and combinations of drink go past us. It was a great evening great service. We will return.

Simply the best prepared food we had on our 10-day road trip in Southern England. Today leaving Isle of Wight heading for Gatwick and Denmark. Best recommendations if you visit Ryde Harbour or the beach area.

We spent a couple of hours on 16th July as part of IoW pride here. Even though we're in our 60s (or more) we were made most welcome. Great beer at £5 a pint at a Pride was a nice surprise. The music was perfect for the event too. Trancy disco with all the LGBT faves. ♥️

Drinks were slow and not cheap BUT the food is absolutely fantastic. Someone in the kitchen really know their stuff !

Rather basic food offer but some tasty option, no complaints as it’s a shack on the promenade and not a restaurant. Few beers on tap but some bottles and nice cocktails. Location is very nice, just behind the harbour, you can look at the boats sailing around while sipping your drink in the sun.

Overpriced poor quality food......£10.70 for a small bowl of chips and some bread (4 tiny pieces of so called sourdough.) Drinks are also vastly inflated avoid at all costs.

Awesome food. Great spot for a drink on a sunny day. Menu and standard of cooking is a lot better than you would expect from a beach bar, well worth getting the Lamb fries 🙌 prawns are all huge too 🍤🍤

5 stars is for the location, atmosphere and music. Very first visit we had cocktails, overpriced and weren't good but would definitely go back for a glass of wine and try the food, what we saw it looked nice 😃

Cycle trip from Seaview to Ryde stopping for some sustenance for the return journey! Friendly owner and staff, very clean. Food was delicious, dirty fries, halloumi skewers, calamari and fries we would definitely recommend! Good luck for the hopefully long hot summer ahead!

Booked a table for 2 on for Friday, arrived only to be told they had decided to close early as it was cold.... it was about 18 degrees. No phone call to tell us they were closing early! Poor customer service, won’t be returning... take...

Even though we had booked a table they decided it was cold and closed for the night. This was on a Friday and the weather was 18 degrees. Couldn’t find any availability in town after as everything was booked. Thanks for ruining our night. Ignorant!
