Sunday roast was wonderful...plenty of meat and veg. Gravy was superb, unfortunately disabled customer had to stand, relying on a stick, prior to waiting to be seated...while a dog seemed to have priority, sitting on a chair, eating food from a table. Brought this up with manager, who said 'quote' ..customers with pets regard them as their children'. Its unhygenic for animals to eat off a table, before we even start on disabled welfare! However, Greg, was nore than understanding, and apologetic. Although meal was nice, doubt very much if we would visit this establishment again.

Sunday lunch was delicious (the roast potatoes exceptional). The setting is delightful; the service charming and prompt. Great value for a Sunday lunch too. Only downside is no draught beer - hope it becomes available soon - what is an English roast without draught ale?!

We have been a many times over the years to this venue and have always loved it. However I booked a table a few weeks before and was looking forward to taking our parents for a meal as were were staying in Somerset for a few days. Unfortunately when we arrived there didn't seem to be any system for telling them we were booked in and was just taken to a table which was cramped up. When they came to take our order we were told that there was no pies, chips, mash or seafood. Astonishing as this was as we had booked when my mum asked for a coffee they said the coffee machine had broken that morning. When the food came it was ok but not really what was described on the menu. To say we were disappointed is an understatement.

What a big disappointment. Been raving over Captains captain to my friends and as such a lovely day decided to go and have lunch. Well what a mix up, two of us had poughmans which took ages to arrive and the other had a steak sandwich an hour after us. Forgot the cheddar cheese , no butter, no focaccia only white bloomer bread although states focaccia on menu. Three people on next table had two meals delivered with chips and then took the meals away leaving just the chips. Two of the meals arrived about an later but we left after 1 1.5 hours and the poor lady still.hadn't received hers. Needless to say chips were stone cold. It does state on Facebook toasted sandwiches but they don't do these anymore and I messaged twice with queries neither of which were answered. Come on Captains Cabin this is not like you. You can do better than this.

A good location overlooking the sea. The meal was extremely good, tasty and well presented. Generally the meals provide good value for money. Could not fault the service. Beer was well priced, but the wine at six times the price of a pint of beer for a bottle is ridiculous. I should obviously have checked the price, but didn’t, so my fault. Spoilt the night.

Felt compelled to give a review even though I never do as the food was lovely and you could see that the chef really cared. We visited due to seeing the small menu and the fact it wasn’t a chain, coupled with the positive reviews. Staff were lovely and fiwndly, pub was cosy and warm with a nice vibe and good music. Beer was great and the food even better. Both my hubby and I are foodies and we were pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be back! Thanks!

Walked along western seafront trying to find a nice real pub. having passed the usual everytown array of chain and naff themed pubs. we were about to give up but heard some singing round the next corner so carried on walking and to our delight found the Captains Cabin who were hosting a charity event featuring local folk groups. The bar itself was tight but the service was excellent and the locals friendly. We brought our drinks which at £5 a pint considering the location were a bargain and went out to the deck area at the rear. It has a fabulous raised view back across the bay and beyond. We stayed for about 3 hours enjoying the entertainment, the beers and the view. We didnt eat there because we had already eaten but the food was very reasonably priced and looked delicious. which was confirmed by the extremely friendly locals who were eating there. So if your in Western do yourself a big favour a stroll away from the mob to an hidden gem. Many thanks to all for an unforgettable afternoon.

Went for dinner whilst staying in Weston overnight on a long walk. Doesn't look much from the outside but ended up being great! Ordered food from the top bar and advised (with an apology) that we'd have to take our drinks down to the terrace as the bottom bar wasn't open - no problem! Brilliant cider selection (6 on draft I think, including a couple I'd never seen before!) and dog friendly too. We found a good spot at the front of the lovely terrace with great views out to sea. Food came (one fish and two different burgers) and it was all really tasty and excellent value for money. Great staff too and as we were leaving a live band was starting up which unfortunately we couldn't stay to see. Great find, a real hidden gem!

Visited for a few drinks and decided to eat as well. The food was good - did what it said on the tin. Steak with the trimmings. Beer was ok, but overall the place needed a bit of a tidy up, both outside (where the views are tremendous) and in the restaurant. Left with the feeling that the place not living up to its potential.

She booked the Captain's Cabin and what a great choice it was: Loads of well cooked meat, FOUR! delicious herby roast potatoes and plenty of vegetables, served family style so we could choose what we wanted, all topped with a beautiful gravy. Found this little gem while cycling in Weston , it has a great Terrace overlooking the sea and an outside bar that is open on sunny days you wont get a better view of Weston while sat here on a nice day, the food is really good without a doubt the best Ploughmans lunch ive had in Weston and ive been going 25 years regularly , lovely cheeses , and ham and the bread was to die for that made it for me I think all in all got a chef who knows his job and what people like, its a traditional pub with a nice inside restaurant and the beer is kept really well, however if you have mobility issues the terrace is not for you as you have to walk up and down to the toilets and for drinks , also if you have young children you need to stop them climbing on the wire fences around the terrace as its a long drop to the path below, in all fairness there are signs warning you so please keep a close eye on your children however this is a lovely place with superb staff and a very nice owner all in all 100 percent for me love it looking forward to many more ploughmans in the summertime Thanks Captains Cabin.

Pub is in a lovely spot looking out over the sea. We booked a table for 4pm and when we arrived were told the restaurant doesn't open till 5pm, not really a problem but it would have been nice to be told when booking. Because we had a dog we were seated in bar which we didn't really mind. The meal was lovely and we have no complaints about that at all. What I didn't like was the fact that people were blatantly standing at the bar vaping and not one member of staff said anything. Because of this we finished our meal and left even though we had planned to stay for the entertainment.

There is a very nice view from the back of the pub with sea views. Must admit, that the process of getting drinks and then getting to your table out back is a bit of a phaff, especially if you have had a few drinks and go down the side entrance slope, I get the social distancing, so no real problem. There was a few people with young kids, so I dont think it's a good idea to have a lot of roofers with their tops off and playing their own music through a Bluetooth speaker. (Tops off is so 70s and is just not acceptable nowadays). If they want to do this, they need to book the place as a private function. Prices and drinks are reasonable and the staff are nice. Could do with a litter pick and sweep down the side entrance.

We were to lazy to walk, so googled the area, and found captains cabin right next door with good reviewsDon't be fooled by the outside appearance, the terrace, inside and the whole establishment is excellent! Covid controls are very good. We copped a table on the terrace, and ordered , and watched a fantastic sunset across the Bay to the spooky old derelict pier. Chilled vibe, interesting mix of people. We ordered 2 starters and mains (Scotch egg/calamari/steak and bacon pie and sea bass) all served quickly , and very very good quality. The wine (bottle of shiraz) was good and the whole ambience rocked.Once the sun went down we moved inside and had a few more drinks, quite quiet, but we like that, then the bill.......2 starters, 2 main, 1 pint, 1 shiraz, and a further bottle of shiraz, 60 quid! Although I live less than two minutes walk from this place, I haven't been for about three or four years, as it wasn't good last time I went. Anyway, things change so when a friend booked his birthday meal here I went along with it.We were asked to place our orders in advance, which most of us did. There were fourteen of us, and no one else in the restaurant, which seemed a little odd for a Saturday night. The restaurant is next to the main bar. with a large open doorway between the two. There was a band playing in the bar. To be fair they sounded good, but far too loud for a restaurant. Had we been told about this I am pretty sure we would not have booked.Several of us had ordered scotch egg for a starter. The restaurant menu showed this as "tandoori," The menu we had seen in advance did not say this. Two of my friends really do not like anything spicy so questioned this with the waitress. She went to the kitchen to check and came back saying that it was spicy and so my friends changed their order. I like spicy food and kept this as my starter. Despite the information from the waitress there was absolutely no spice to the dish at all.Despite having ordered in advance, they did not seem to have any idea what was hapenning. Three of us had ordered gammon, but they only had two.portions left. The two people who had not pre-ordered were served first, but fifteen minutes later two if us had still not been served. The waitress asked what we had ordered. This finally arrived near the time when the rest of the table was finishing their meal. Vegetables were brought in, but for some reason only to one end of the table. My rib of beef with horseradish mash did not have horseradish mash, but instead came with Dauphinoise potatoes. The standard of food was fairly ordinary pub food, though the prices seemed a little high.Desert was factory produced cheesecake and fudge cake, all chocolate. So if you don't like chocolate then the only option was ice cream. Those of us paying by card were told they would have to go to the bar to pay, but those paying cash could pay in the restaurant. The waitress went to the bar to deal with the card payments. When she came back to the restaurant I went to pay but she said that she was going home so I had to go to the bar. Bear in mind that there was still a band playing and the bar was very crowded.Anyway. I can imagine that it will be several years before I go back to this place.

We came here for a drink and to watch the sunset. The bar was full and lively and they had several dark beers on when we were there. It’s a long narrow space and the landlord was happy for us to sit with a drink in the restaurant so we could watch the sunset from a table by the windows even through we were not eating. Having said that the whole time we were there, maybe an hour of so into service , nobody at all came in to eat which was a surprise as Weston was full of people for the motto-cross event on the beach. Maybe it’s because it’s at the far end of the town but its worth finding for a drink and the views.

In response to my enquiry about catering for gluten free diets, I received a very nice, reassuring reply that this would be no problem. All I can say, is yes, they do cater for gf, but you need to have your radar on all the time.

Came across this pub walking our puppy the staff couldn’t of been more welcoming we had a couple of drinks and decided to pop back the next day to try the food and we were not disappointed my two children had the home made cod fishfinger sandwiches and they said they were amazing and our prawn and handcarved ham salad ones were superb as well

Went recently for the Carvery, will most definitely be returning. Food was outstanding, hands down best Carvery in Weston. Service was great and they went out of their way to seat us without a booking on a busy Sunday afternoon. Recommend the Scotch eggs to start, delicious!

We have visited before as they do have a good chef. I had mussels, he had mackerel pate. I had hake, he had lamb rump (he said it was out of this world!!!). We both had plum and blackberry eton mess. We had a very nice evening.

First time here for several years. Booked on a Saturday night but not necessary as we were the only 2 people in the restaurant so the service was good but with a distinct lack of atmosphere. The food, however, was great, well presented and the wine very reasonably priced. Owner Chris made us feel welcome and suggested a Friday visit when the fresh fish arrives from Brixham so we will go back. Shame that the entrance is through the main pub although a door to separate the restaurant from the bar would make the area more conducive but don't let this put you off as it is well worth a visit.

Have had a pint here before, but never eaten until now, I have been missing out, went with a friend to try it out. A lovely French man served us, he explained the dishes and made recommendations, we took his advice over the Normandy crab salad which was superb and also had some whitebait as a starter. I had the fish pie as a main course and my friend had the lamb. I washed it all down with a real ale from Clevedon of all places! again this was lovely. I give the food and service 10 out of 10, it was beautifully cooked and very tasty. I cannot wait to go back and try some of the other dishes. The pub faces the road, but the restaurant faces Brean Down as has the best views of Weston and beyond, there is also a terrace at the back again which has fantastic views. It is a very friendly place, but looks a bit ramshackle and could do the odd lick of paint, but the food is outstanding so its well worth a visit.

Absolutely wonderful scallops and the freshest lobster. Great ambience and really friendly and attentive staff. The view over Anchor Head is one of the best in Weston. And yet this is still a proper Pub. Perfect!

Went here with my family for the first time today, found on TripAdvisor originally we was quickly sold by the photos of the meals. We were seated after about 10 minutes but didn't mind as our kids were enjoying themselves dancing to the live band. The food was very good and home made, although our mains did take quite a long time to arrive, I think a mistake was made with our food been given to a table opposite us. At this point we weren't too happy, but with that said the staff could not have been more apologetic. They really dealt with it in a proper manor and also offered to take 50% off the bill which I think was very fair. So the Captain's Cabin more than redeemed themselves and the food was well worth the wait, we will definitely be returning!

Since this new chef as come it’s not the same, some veg overdone some not cooked at all, meat quality disappointing, nearly broke tooth on Roast potatoes, definitely needs decorating & awful smell about the place, possibly drains but not nice around food, some on make it worth a visit again for us & listen to reviews

Have been here a couple of times before when visiting family and the food is amazing! 20 of us booked for Sunday roast yesterday (celebrating a 70th birthday) and it was excellent! Everybody thoroughly enjoyed it. All of the mains came out at the same time, which was no small feat there being so many of us! Great service, great atmosphere, awesome food. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had been here for a drink during the day and decided to go back to watch the England-Croatia match. The football result wasn't what we wanted but we found a gem in the Captains Cabin. Landlord had arranged the seats and the TV's so that everyone had a good view. At half time and again at extra time he put out platters of food that were really good. We did not eat here formally this year but next year when we visit we will make a point of eating here to repay the generosity and friendliness we were shown. Great deck overlooking the bay.

This place is a little tired but the great view across the bay makes up for it. They have now built an outside bar too to speed up service, although if you want real ale you still need to go inside. We didn't eat but were perfectly happy spending a couple of hours drinking here.

Came here for Air Day lunch and again this Saturday. Amazing views across the bay; attentive, friendly service and very good value food. Whitebait starter is good. Homemade pies are large and tasty. Veg fresh and plentiful. Check the specials: I had a nicely cooked skate wing. It isn’t trying to be fancy, but with a quality/price ratio like this who cares?

Having booked last minute on Saturday and having completely forgotten that it was fathers day, I was amazed tha Chris managed to fit us in. The food was to die for and the service attentive but not over the top. Well priced too! The interior could do with a bit of modernisation, but dont let that put you off! Probably the best Sunday lunch out that we have had.

Returning to Clevedon after a very long time it was a bit odd to find ourselves back on Hill Road (but that is the weird emotional bit out of the way). We were a bit peckish so popped into the cafe. Had not planned to end up going for the full breakfast - but we did (one vegetarian and one meat). Gosh. They were massive. I was on the meat one, but I simply could not finish it! A first. The Good Lady had to have a piece of my toast + and egg + tomato. (A piece of bacon was scurried out in a serviette). So value-for-money, to me, it was right up there. Admittedly, and looking at other reviews, I might agree that the staff seemed quite new/a little lost at times. Not sure if there is perhaps lots of turnover but they did seem to be struggling at times. Courteous though. We felt very reasonably priced.

We popped in for lunch, sadly the kitchen was being refurbished BUT, when we said oh dear, and could he recommend somewhere and also be able to park the car, he said, no problem, just leave the car here and made various alternative suggestions. We went round town, had some lunch and of course went back for a lovely gin at about 3:00. Great old fashioned service.
