The Cambridge in City of London, Westminster

A great little find close to my hotel. Wasn't too crowded when I was there, but did become a little more. Many times passing by I did notice it was always quite busy. Downstairs is the bar area where you can choose your seat. You have to order at the bar as they come to your table. Upstairs is full service but didn't check it out. As a travel advisor visiting the area to recommend places to clients, I can honestly say that this is a great place to stop by for a beverage and meal. This was my first go at trying the traditional British fish & chips and of course it was yummy! So stop by and enjoy this great little find as you won't be dissapointed.

May 16. Lunch. Really pleasant setting. Top location. Professional and very kind barmaid. We ate traditional fish and chips on our last day in London. Very good, fish cooked perfectly. Good fries. Impeccable sauce. In short, we recommend it. Thank you.

Martin was a delight. We dreamt of this exact thing for our first proper pub experience in London. It did not disappoint. We learned that this was a hangout for the Sex Pistols and others in the 70s. Food was exceptional too.

Cozy English pub with nice atmosphere. Really very friendly staff, they gave us good explanation. The service was good and especially fast. The food was fine and for London a decent price. You can get many English classics (fish and chips, pot pies,..) and also vegetarians have good options to choose from.

Very good service from kyle, offered some samples which i ended up buying from the recommendation.

5 people ate at 4:30 p.m. and we ate the typical fish & chips and pie. The waitress was very attentive, patient with our little knowledge of English. The food is very delicious. Advisable. We paid 27 pounds per person. Of course, the dining room is on the first floor and there are stairs.

We visited before going to the theatre. We had booked a table, but arrived early and was allowed to dine earlier. The service was very good by Bhargav Romeo. He was very attentive and helpful. The food was really nice and large portions too. Road noise a little distracting at times, but a quaint pub. Thoroughly enjoyable.

We tried the traditional fish & chips, and of course the puding. Food was delicious, staff was super friendly and funny! Great service! Thank you for this experience 🙏

After having done the Harry Potter tour which ended near the theater of the same name, nearby there is this good pub where they make excellent Fish & Chips accompanied by excellent pasteurized beers. It was a coincidence that I found it but I recommend it, among other things there is background music

As a group of 13, we walked in and were treated amazingly! Our servers Martin and Georgina took great care of our group and helped us to have an authentic fish and chips meal! Would totally recommend!

Pub tipico in centro città, si beve al piano terra, si cena al piano superiore. Arredo tipico, atmosfera accogliente e familiare, il personale molto cortese e disponibile. Abbiamo mangiato il sottofiletto con patate e un'insalata, qualità-prezzo giusta, volevamo assaggiare una delle numerose pie proposte ma non avevamo abbastanza fame. Esperienza da fare in un pub storico.

Nice ale pubs in the area, won't disappoint if you're thirsty!

We needed a break and got a table in this tightly packed pub. The staff were friendly. The pub was busy. Filled with people winding down their work day. We ordered a strawberry lime cider and Jameson’s Pale Ale. Both tasted great. We ordered calamari, sweet chicken and a scotch egg. They paired perfectly with the drinks. Definitely worth checking this place out!

Paramos en el Cambridge para almorzar mientras esperábamos un espectáculo. Era un día soleado y nuestra mesa estaba justo en frente de un gran ventanal. En cuestión de minutos, el calor era insoportable, preguntamos si podíamos pasar a otra mesa vacía que estaba más sombreada, pero esta solicitud fue rechazada a pesar de que otras mesas estaban vacías. La comida era muy buena, pero malcriada por el calor del sol. En general, el personal era muy poco servicial. No volvería a usar.

I finally understand those shows about how brits react when eating Texas food for the first time. I read lots of reviews about how good the fish and chips were at this restaurant, so we were optimistic. All I can say is that the servers were nice, the wine was good, and bless their hearts.

Fish and chips 😋 I love the atmosphere of this place. Some Friday and Saturday evenings have live music downstairs. The ones I came across were a lot of fun.

My partner had her hen party here over 50 years ago when she worked nearby. We visited again after seeing The Moustrap. Excellent choice, lovely food, atmosphere & staff. Our Polish waiter very accommodating finding table as we had not booked. Also offering insight into past history about the Sex Pistols early days, Perfect end to our afternoon. Thanks

Delicious food and even better beer - I recommend unpasteurized. The staff was very helpful, especially the gentleman who turned out to be Polish :) Fish & Chips are amazing, and you can't fit the enlarged portions. We were there once after 3 p.m. - there were crowds, and the second time after 8 p.m. and then again, so I recommend making a reservation. We will definitely go back there

Lovely pub. Good choice of drinks, snacks and food. It would be good to have a few more tables and sitting and quicker table cleaning at busy times.

The bartender is really friendly and helpful. Upon request, you can try the beers first before deciding on one. Great ambience.

We popped into The Cambridge for a couple of pints before and in between seeing the Harry Potter show at the Palace Theater, and it was absolutely perfect! The pub had a lively atmosphere, service was quick, and although we didn’t try the food, everything we saw coming out looked delicious. If you’re heading to a show or just need a spot to relax with friends, The Cambridge is definitely worth a stop!

Whilst attending the Palace theatre to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child we pre booked a dinner in between the two parts of the show. Service was professional and speedy. Their own pies are fantastic and very reasonable. Staff were professional and courteous. The restaurant is upstairs and even though I’m disabled it was easy to get to our table. The restaurant is spotless. I would certainly recommend a visit, it suggest that you pre booked as it gets busy but not overcrowded. A nice quiet place to eat in the middle of the West End.

Stopped for lunch and the food was absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend the chicken pot pie and sticky toffee pudding.

Came in around 4pm, restaurant was pretty quiet which was really nice. It's clean, the staff was nice to us and the food was pretty good too, I love the garlic bread that comes with the gnocchi! The rooms are so well decorated and the place overall has a nice vibe to it. I love the little lights all over, it's nice and cozy, and the chairs are comfortable too which is always a nice extra 🤭🤭

We went to this pub in Soho for dinner and I must say that the quality of the dishes is excellent. However, we were denied dessert because the "kitchen was now closed", yet several hot dishes were served after our request. By the way it was only 9pm.

Your typical British pub! The staff were generally quite apathetic, except for one waiter who really loved his job and made you feel welcome (wish I captured his name!). When asking for a beer recommendation, he brought me 4 tasters and explained the difference. Ordered a pie, it was good but nothing to rave about. A bit disappointed it came with boiled potatoes instead of mashed potatoes, but that made it easier to cut on carbs anyway :)

A very nice bar. We only stopped for a beer, attracted by the beautiful facade. The interior is just as interesting. Good beer, OK service.

Upstairs restaurant was a haven of peace as downstairs was heaving. Nice to get table service in a pub. The drinks were west end prices but food reasonable and my cheese tarte tatin very good.

Food was perfectly cooked and tasty no corporate junk food even though The Cambridge is part of a group, everything felt authentic, staff were amazingly friendly, only thing I would suggest is the online booking should advise restaurant is upstairs as we walked into what we thought was a lively drinkers bar and nearly didn't stay, but soooo glad we did x

I liked the look of the menu as I meandered along Charing Cross Road, so I went in. Plenty of choice on the menu. I chose the chargrilled chicken with chorizo. It did not disappoint. Staff were pleasant and efficient. I'd definitely return.

Super good. We had homemade food for dinner and were very well served. We were a group of nine people. I advise booking because it is full. it's worth it. It is in the center and the food is delicious, which is appreciated. The waiters are very nice and make an effort to serve and understand. About 30 pounds per person. You dine in a dining room on the top floor, there is no elevator. In the pub below, a great atmosphere! And live music.

Great pub-dinning for London Westend. Eatery is upstairs in a separate, somewhat small room, but includes a bar, so service is short and jund. Usual items in the menu but quality somewhat better. Can get very busy around theatre time😀

Delicious fish and chips! We ordered the large Nicholson Fish and Chip (£21) and the Rabbit Pie (£20.50), as well as a pint of IPA and a half pint of a cider (£11+ for both). The fish and chips were outstanding. Firm, yet flaky fish meat and a crispy, non-oily batter. The rabbit pie was not too bad. Not what I expected - I thought it would have a crust - but nonetheless creamy and good. The carrots on the side were underdone though. Think I should have gone for the award-winning beef pie. But the rabbit pie was still enjoyable. I love the mushy peas on the side of the fish and chips too.

What can I say, everything was delicious. We had fish and chips and the meat pie with mash and carrots. If you are passing through London and want to eat well with typical products and drink beer in a beautiful pub I recommend this place. The staff is very friendly.

My family and I (2 sisters and my mum) had lunch here. We had a great time! Food was delicious, service quick and Martin was very friendly, funny, and helful. We definitely would come back when we are in London.

Nice restaurant with great service and delicious drinks. Just like you imagine a pub to be. However, the toilets were very negative. These were extremely dirty and smelled very strongly (it was only in the afternoon)

Had a great meal with friends before a show. The food was fantastic- I always appreciate a chef that is creative with a vegetarian option and my friend raved about the fish and chips. A little cramped, but managed to get a seat, beer a little over priced but a nice pint of Camden Pale and Westons cider.

We were there twice and both times we were satisfied with everything, we saw others with small children sitting in, so it's a family-friendly place. The cider is very tasty.

Standard Nicholson's pub - nothing to complain about - you know what you're getting - always happy to go in. Not visited this one at Cambridge Circus before but it did not disappoint. Friendly young bar staff were attentive and quick to sort orders. Offered advice on alternative cask ales when couple were in process of having barrel changed; turned out to be good recommendations. Didn't eat here but the food is ok, nothing to write home about but also decent. Would visit again.

Such an adorable dinner restaurant overlooking the streets of Soho! The best fish and chips meal I had during our trip to London. The restaurant is up on the second floor and is small - makes for a great date night or dinner for two!

Super cool bar/ pub! Small space but lots of character! We came here while being on our trip from the USA. Martin the bar tender was so friendly and funny! He recommended a delicious gin cocktail. We'll be coming back to this bar next time! Cheers from Minnesota!
