Porcupine in City of London, Westminster

Dropped by for some fish and chips. Food and atmosphere were amazing, just what I was looking for in London. Varun was a wonderful server!

Our service person named Krupa was very polite, friendly and accommodating. In general it is a typical English pub, where there is always a good atmosphere. Nevertheless, we were able to have a meal comfortably upstairs. The location is stylish and classic.

I was visiting the area and looking for a place that had shepherd’s pie and man, this place definitely had what I was looking for. I walked upstairs to the dining area and was greeted by Krupa. She seated me quickly and was super kind and attentive. I plan to come back for the delicious food and great service. Everything was amazing.

This restaurant served the best food, period. I attended with my daughter who doesn't normally eat much but she nearly finished her burger and claimed this place "is the best". Krupa, thank you for your service and friendly welcome. We will definitely eat here again

Delicious traditional food is offered which is within the normal price range. The toilets could be a little cleaner. Our service person Varun was very friendly and accommodating. We felt very comfortable and would recommend it to everyone.

on very short notice we were able to get a table for three at this super athmospheric little Pub close to Leicester Square. The food was absolutely delicious, the prices were just fine for central london and the amazing service provided by Varun made the whole experience come together just fine! We'll definitely be back when we're in London again!

We were here for lunch today and had very good fish and chips and the Sunday Roast. It was really delicious and the waiter Varon was very attentive and friendly. To recommend !

Varun was very helpful, friendly and capable. We sat down (4 people) when the dining room was mostly empty and then some big groups came in and Varun handled it all in stride (running up and down stairs) to service everyone’s orders. he was really positive! thanks

Don't order the salmon fishcakes as there's no salmon in them, unless you call a couple of pink specs among breaded and fried potato, salmon. My partner ordered the chicken and chorizo and the chicken was dry and tough. The girl serving did not listen properly when taking the order and did not bring a pint of lime and soda but a tall tumbler instead, nowhere near a pint. There were plenty of seats but we were seated right next to another couple and my chair was hard up against the bar. I have eaten at the porcupine some years ago and it excellent and chose to go there again based past experience and as it was near the theatre we going to. Never again, the standards are way below what they used to be.

We were very disappointed with the service we received on this visit to The Porcupine. We have no complaints about the food and always enjoy our food at your pubs. However we made a booking for 5.30 and because we were a little early the restaurant wasn't ready but this wasn't a problem as we bought a drink and sat outside. The waitress had told us to give them 5 minutes but we gave them a little longer, maybe 10 to 15, so we weren't hassling them exactly at 5.30. When we did go upstairs there were already 3 tables occupied. No orders had been taken at this point and when they were ready to take orders everybody gave their orders before us (even though they hadn't made a bookingbut just by virtue of the fact that they were seated just minutes before us). On top of that each group were served starters and mains before we got our order. We were not served until 6-30. Considering we were given a time slot of 5.30 to 7 this hardly left time to eat leisurely and have a dessert if we had wanted one. We had specifically chosen the 5.30. slot because were hoping to catch the the 7.05 train from London Liverpool Street. Even though the other guests were seated slightly earlier than us, the waitress knew we had arrived and we should have had our time slot honoured. If we had wanted to eat at 6.30 we would have booked for 6 to 6.15, not 5.30. Our disappointment was made known to the waitress but we didn't even get an apology.

I went with my girlfriend to have lunch: They have a room on the ground floor, where you can drink and one on the first floor, where you can also eat. They have different dishes such as burgers, soups, sausage... and some vegan options. The selection of beers is the classic of all pubs. The boy who served us was very kind and patient.

Best fries/chips and beef and brisket pie. Varun was wonderful. Fantastic service and recommendations. Love this place. Will definitely come back. Thanks Varun for a fantastic dinner

A real favorite for this brewery. Waiter attentive despite my broken English. Quality of the dishes, I was received like a queen. Fair price (35 eur) for 2 starters (1 soup of the day and duck croquettes) 1 dish of mac&cheese and 1 pepsi (don't have coke, only red card)

It's warm, cosy and the Guinness was icecold. 100 of 100 max points.

This place is awesome! We had some delicious pies (the slow-cooked beef one was devine, a great recommendation from our outstanding waiter, Varun), and some beer at one of the coziest pubs in London. Much recommended!

We had a lovely experience at The Porcupine. Varun was our server and made us feel very welcomed. Food was also very delicious.

Instead of going to our usual restaurant in covent garden we would try a different venue. I popped in to The Pocupine last Friday afternoon to reserve a table for 2 later that evening. Person in bar very helpful. When we arrived for our reservation the waitress had no booking. Luckily they were not busy. I do not know her name as like the person in the bar they did not say who they were. We ordered the 2 dearest pies as we were not penny pinching plus drinks. I thought my plate looked a bit boring, or bland,lacked colour as only pie with mashed potato and carrots. The pies were very good. Lots of very tasty meat. We had desserts, which was also very good. There was the usual service charge of 10% which l hate with London restaurants and pubs. I have deducted 2 stars one for poor service and one for dull looking and uninviting meal. I understand with like all chain pubs and restaurants staff are the backbone of success, but sometimes they can make customers feel maybe l should of taken my custom somewhere else.

The food and speed of service was fantastic. The Shepherds pie was the nicest meal I have ever had!

What a wonderful hidden gem. We booked expecting a pub, we got a little piece of history with fabulous food (pie is a must) and excellent service On walking into the pub we were great with smiles from the girls and a waggly tailed dog. Directed upstairs to dining. Varun gave us time to explore the tempting menu, my vegan pie was delicious. Varun's service was unrushed while attentive We are coming back, espresso martini again yum.

Menu is great. Traditional pub fayre with an emphasis on the pies. We had a mix of pies, shepherds pie and burgers. All served well and in a relaxed environment. The server was attentive and caring. We felt looked after.

Omg, we loved this pub and were over the moon to find it was a Nicholson’s! It was for a quick drink before dinner (next door!) and a show (just along the road!). We found a great atmosphere, great drinks and snacks, and even managed to get seats. What more could you ask for??

Tranquillo pub nel caotico Covent garden. Krupa ci ha accolte con un sorriso un venerdì sera e ci ha servito uno dei migliori fish&chips della nostra vita. Il pub sottostante era molto affollato, mentre il ristorante al primo piano era tranquillo ed estremamente piacevole. Ottimo servizio.

Stopped in for a last pint before catching my train home. It's a lovely cozy pub with a good bar and friendly staff and atmosphere. Definitely somewhere I'll return to!

Had a lovely meal in here before theatre. No Sunday lunches available however Varun recommended the beef rib pie (hubbie had and said was delicious) and the lentil and vegetable pie for me (again very tasty). Service was excellent 😃 Resturant upstairs is lovey - very traditionally British! Would recommend.

Ein typisches Londoner Pub. Im Erdgeschoss gibt es ausschließlich Getränke und Snacks, im Obergeschoß auch Essen. Wir waren hier nach dem Essen noch etwas trinken. Der Barbereich ist relativ, dementsprechend war es voll. Die Preise sind, für London mittlerweile normal, eher am oberen Limit. Deswegen einen Stern Abzug.

Really nice tucked away restaurant,, quiet away from the full bar downstairs. Not cheap but very good food ! Service is added in the bill so watch that.

A very traditional and upmarket pub experience in London, very spacious and vibrant atmosphere. The food was great - fish and chips, schnitzel and mac & cheese were all delicious. Our waiter, Varun, was exceptional, providing us with the best service, being available to us at all times, knowledgeable on the dishes and always having a smile on his face. Highly recommended.

Locale molto tipico da pub inglese. Menù inglese a prezzi un po’ alti ma tutto molto buono. Ho preso una pie e un piatto con salsiccia entrambi deliziosi. Unica pecca il servizio per la cameriera un po’ scocciata e maleducata.
