Porcupine in City of London, Westminster

Visited here every time we’ve come to London and it’s always been excellent. Arrived late Monday morning & initial observations were good. Tables & buffets neat, floor polished & a smell of Brasso in the air. Then all the good work ended. The lad left a 3/4 full pint in front of the hand pull while trying to top up another. Despite our attempts to alert him, he pulled, and beer went everywhere. He honestly did not seem like he’d worked a bar before. Our “pints” were an inch short & a request to top them up still didn’t fill the glasses. Other customers were left to wait while the spilled mess was cleaned up, while fruit tubs were messed around with, while napkin boxes were refilled. A French-sounding couple ordered a Neckoil which they were given with a huge head. By the time they’d got back to their table & beer had settled, they had 3/4 of a pint at best. If it wasn’t for our past excellent experiences, the rating would be 1/5 based on this time alone.

The upstairs dining room was excellent! Food was great and nice way to spend the evening with friends. Olivia was a great server and took really good care of us strange Americans!

We stopped in here by accident. Just picked a random spot by the hotel before leaving for the airport. Didn’t expect to have the best meal I’ve had in London! Fish and Chips and meat pies were delicious and our server Nick was great! Can’t wait to come back!

Awesome night out with our friends from America. Really good food and fast service from a last minute reservation made possible by the lovely Olivia. What a star. Perfectly charming and when it was closing time, she didn't rush us out the door, instead sat with us chatting about places to visit and making my friends feel at home. Wonderful cosy pub. Visiting from Chicago and we randomly came upon Porcupine walking around the neighborhood. The atmosphere is so cozy, the drinks were good and the food sooo yummy. It was our first time eating meat pie and Varun was our waitor he recommended our meal, the beef pie and chicken schnitzel 10/10.

Need of improvement: Two pies weren’t available - only told after ordering. Coffee machine wasn’t working so not available. Men’s toilets were poor - one urinal filled with urine not very appetising. Server needed better customer skills, came across as disinterested. Good: Food was tasty

Great pub, always have an extremely pleasant experience there. The food is nice and staff very friendly - a special note to Max, he is a real professional. I come here for G&Ts and this dude’s always all smiley and welcoming.

If you want to have a nice pub experience do not go anywhere else but this pub! Had a lovely time in this pub with friends of mine. What stood out was the server Maksim, advising and describing us really good beers, starting with largers, British ipa’s, and ofc Guinness. Lovely Guinness mate and thanks for the with the menu!

By chance, I stopped in to the Porcupine for dinner, as it was close to my hotel. So glad I did! I had the Sausage & Mash—it was so delicious! My server was Alfie, with an assist by Max. Both were so cordial, adding to the enjoyment of my evening. With my first meal being so good, I opted to stop back in again, a few days later. This time my server was Olivia and I had the steak & pale ale pie. Another tasty choice! Olivia was also very personable & welcoming! Both nights your helpful staff offered me some great recommendations when I asked. Alfie, Olivia & Max, it was a great pleasure meeting all of you! With the delicious food & likeable staff, I’m so glad I bumped into this place!

We had to catch a flight and Varun was amazing at getting our food out! The service was outstanding and the food was even better! The short rib pie was amazing, and their fish and chips were second to none!

This was a wonderful place to have a pre show dinner. The menu was extensive, the service was prompt and friendly and the food was superb. My husband had the lamb shank pie and I had the grilled sea bass. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert/ divine.

I visited the Porcupine pub, beautiful from the outside and even better inside. I ordered the Steak and ale pie. I was completely won over by this pie. I was served quickly, and I am also grateful to the nice waiter Max. I recommend this pub to everyone. I will definitely be back.

One of my favourite pubs in London for great memories but a recent visit destroyed this great feeling due to unbelievably rude staff at the bar. Ordering drinks being spoken to as if I were there bothering the lady serving. Wake up, if you are rude and impolite do not work in this industry

September 2024: Was going to see Stranger Things and stopped by for a quick bite and 🍺. Enjoyed a Beavertown IPA session to start. Beer selection was pretty good 👍. We shared the short rib pie and a side of broccoli 🥦. The meat pie was one of the best that I have had on my vacation in London. Lots of gravy inside the pie. Beef was very tender. Crust was flaky. The pie came with potato and carrots. Broccoli was fine. For dessert, had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Dessert was excellent. Definitely would come back just for the sticky toffee pudding! Service was friendly and attentive. The lady was able to get us out quickly so we could catch our show!

We came to the porcupine after a failed attempt at a nearby Italian restaurant. In comparison, the porcupine provided a lovely atmosphere for a great dinner and Varun provided amazing service. Highly recommend!

We came in for our very first pub experience in England and Varun made it all happen for us! We heard The Porcupine had great food and that turned out to be true. It was so good! My husband had Shepherd’s Pie and I had Fish and Chips. Delicious! We had a lot of fun talking to Varun and another table of folks next to us. It was a great night and just we hoped our first dinner in England would be. Thank you!

We stumbled into The Porcupine after a long day of exploring London. Our jet-lagged and hungry kids were slightly grouchy and also feeling extra picky. We sat upstairs and Varun was awesome. Not only did he make sure that the kitchen understood what our kids wanted, he also playfully interacted with our kids and their new teddy bears they had just bought as a souvenir. I REALLY appreciate him going above and beyond to make sure we were all enjoying our mealtime. I had the meat pie that they make onsite and it was SO YUMMY!

The pub was awesome! The live music made the night so much fun. The place was busy, but everyone was having a great time. It was a great Friday night with good music, drinks, and a lively crowd.

First time in London, and on our first night, we had a delicious casual dinner at Porcupine. What really made our night was service from Varun. He delivered our food and drinks quickly, and even as the restaurant became more crowded, he remained very attentive. Will recommend to friends!

Ecxelent! The staff, namely Dalila, was amazing, Very kind And welcoming. Really nice bar, with cosy atmosphere. The offer of drinks was really nice. Recomend this bar for 100%

We were having dinner at the restaurant and in the middle of the evening we saw a mouse running between the empty tables. The person in charge offered us a discount and was very kind, but not the girl who helped us.

It was really a pleasure to find a bar such as this one! From outside not so screaming, but inside really cosy and warm. Dalila (the bartender) was very sweet kind girl, very helpful! I will definitely come back!

This pub was ok. The fish and chips were really good, but chicken and chorizo was just ok. The server was kind, but forgot two of drink orders.

We were very disappointed with this pub. Already, to eat you are seated upstairs so you no longer have the pub atmosphere at all. Then the kitchen really wasn't great. The dough for the “pie” was as hard as a rock. This pub is obviously part of a chain because they all have the same menu at the same prices. Prices are quite high for what is served. We avoided them for the rest of the stay.
