The Volunteer in City of London, Westminster

I have been going to The Volunteer for 49 years and it remains my favorite London pub. Over the decades, the food, the service and the general good vibes of the place have consistently been top-notch. Wait staff, like Georgia and Luke, make everything run smoothly. I cannot say enough good things about The Volunteer.

What a nice find off baker street

We had a very good and delicious meal! The dessert was the best! Excellent service from our waitress, Shannon! The atmosphere is very pleasant, calm, and beautiful! The prices are very good! Excellent value for money! Recommended!

A great thank you for the great service to Rob And Shanon! So polite and helpful!! We had the Sunday Roast (for 2 ) to share and was so tasty and well cooked.

Enjoyed our visit, but, very disappointed that this pub does not offer the evening set menu. Surprising, as the The Prince Regent, The Albany and The Phoenix all other local pubs from the same brand all advertise this set menu too. Why is it not served here? We had intended to choose from this menu to celebrate our anniversary; what’s the reason please? We wasted our time choosing our dishes at home if the menu isn’t offered. Great service from all the team especially Georgia.

Close to Regents Park and just next Baker St station, great food and drinks!

Food was amazing, loved our drinks and the atmosphere is casual and nice. Just what you want in a corner pub!!

Had an absolutely amazing meal at the volunteer! Georgia, who served us was wonderful! Loved the scotch eggs and beef croquettes!

We had a great meal and drinks beforehand, in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Service was great from Elizabeth and Georgia.

A typical pub which serves very good fish and chips with mint pea puree. Friendly atmosphere! Thank you Luke for the attentive service!

Excellent food in an authentic British pub. And Dani the waitress is super.

As a tourist you are in good hands there, as a visitor to this great city you can simply stand with the others and enjoy your beer or other drink. But with so many choices it can sometimes be a bit difficult.☺️

Had a lovely time at the pub with Georgia and Elizabeen! We tried the Caesar salad and burgers – both were delicious. The salad was fresh and crisp, with just the right amount of dressing, and the burgers were juicy and full of flavor. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service – definitely a spot we’ll visit again!

Had a little bite and an espresso before heading into the Shelock Holmes museum. Chicken skewers were tender and delicious and the espresso gave me the boost I needed to charge on to my sightseeing adventures. Thank you! Also, the servers were so kind and attentive

We returned to Volunteer after a few months. Good food (especially the belly pork and desserts) and decent beers, prices average for London pubs. Pietro's service was excellent, very prepared, at the same time discreet and present.

True London essence. We ate the typical "roast dinner to share", exceptional. The dish presented itself very well in terms of appearance and even more so in terms of flavour. The staff was attentive to our needs and very kind. Pietre, in Italian, also recommended an excellent typical whisky. Super positive experience with all local customers: it is not a tourist place and this made the difference. Cheers to all! We strongly recommend you to come and eat or drink here!

The place is very comfortable to go have a beer and eat something delicious. Elizabeth took great care of us and the entire service was very fast.

We LOVE coming to The Volunteer! Its literally THE neighbourhood bar we always wanted to frequent! My favourite is their calamari! And what makes it amazing is meeting VINCE every time and interacting with him! He makes every visit so easy, fun and special!we look forward to coming back everytime!:) thankyou Vince! Hugely recommend this pub. Food is absolutely delicious, service is rapid (in a rush as heading for a train). The sweet chorizo bites in honey(?) were amazing. Also the sourdough, also padrón peppers and buttermilk chicken. Staff really friendly. Will be back for a main meal next time.

Very friendly and typical pub right at the entrance to Regents Park and 50 meters from the Sherlock Holmes Museum. It is better to order the very good typical dishes (like fish and chips, steak and ale pie, sticky toffee pudding) just before noon because after that the influence will be very strong and therefore you will have to wait for your dishes (for those who are in a hurry). Special mention to our waitress Georgia was very attentive and very efficient!!! Around £60 with service for three courses and drinks, at this price for London I recommend!

The Volunteer is a brilliant pub and well worth a visit Steak sandwich was superb Timothy Taylor’s Landlord is excellent here - best beer ever and tastes great. Hope to see some Boltmaker here soon ;) Shout out to Pietro and Rob

My regular pub during work hours! 🤣 They serve good beer, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Yesterday I had a sit down meal for lunch. I opted for the chicken schnitzel, which was not bad, although definitely not home made or made fresh...or at least it didn't appear to be. It was like it was taken out of a freezer and fried to serve. Salad was small, but the fries were quite nice. I would say a nice place to have a drink or two, but for food, there are plenty of better places nearby.
