The Volunteer in City of London, Westminster

Very friendly and typical pub right at the entrance to Regents Park and 50 meters from the Sherlock Holmes Museum. It is better to order the very good typical dishes (like fish and chips, steak and ale pie, sticky toffee pudding) just before noon because after that the influence will be very strong and therefore you will have to wait for your dishes (for those who are in a hurry). Special mention to our waitress Georgia was very attentive and very efficient!!! Around £60 with service for three courses and drinks, at this price for London I recommend!

I really enjoyed food,wine and the service Pietro was fantastic.

The Volunteer is a brilliant pub and well worth a visit Steak sandwich was superb Timothy Taylor’s Landlord is excellent here - best beer ever and tastes great. Hope to see some Boltmaker here soon ;) Shout out to Pietro and Rob

My regular pub during work hours! 🤣 They serve good beer, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Yesterday I had a sit down meal for lunch. I opted for the chicken schnitzel, which was not bad, although definitely not home made or made fresh...or at least it didn't appear to be. It was like it was taken out of a freezer and fried to serve. Salad was small, but the fries were quite nice. I would say a nice place to have a drink or two, but for food, there are plenty of better places nearby.

Delightful, friendly place to stop by after a long wander through Regent’s Park. Danni from the waiting staff was especially attentive and welcoming, and the food was delicious, unlike the microwaved grub you get in some pubs, here it was well made.

This is a really lovely London local; quite lovely (and loud), but everyone chatting away and having a good time. Recommend

Located next to the Sherlock Holmes house on Baker street, this pub is a real stand out. The food, atmosphere, and service was superb! We had a party of 9 on a Saturday night and they were able to accommodate us for dinner. And two of our party are Vegans and they had delicious options as well. We enjoyed the beers on tap and had everything from the Steak and Ale pie to the Fish and Chips. Everything was amazing and fresh. The Volunteer is also kid friendly as well. I wish we had taken photos of the food which was beautifully presented but we were all too busy eating and drinking! Highly recommend!

We went to the pub after the lecture, when it was pouring rain outside and we wanted to have dinner. I was impressed by the delicious food and the unusually tasty cider with peach and raspberry. I didn't know that food in a pub could be as delicious as in a restaurant! And it was right in the center. The quality is excellent!

Lovely little pub up the road from bakers street station, service was a little slow but due to the fact it was a very very busy pub I understand, the staff were very friendly one even managed to get us a table thankfully. Would definitely recommend and I'll be back

Amazing vibes. Not overly fancy, but pretty and atmospheric. They have very good draft ales and very good fish and chips. Shannon and Jack were serving us, both of them were quick, extremely friendly and helpful. Absolutely no complaints. It was a great decision to check this place out.

We were visiting the Marleybone theatre, which is a five minute walk away and stopped for a meal after. The staff were really helpful and found us a table, in the really busy restaurant. The food was great and was served quickly by the friendly staff. Thank you Shannon for a lovely evening.

For our last night in London, we wanted a traditional pub experience for dinner, so booked here based on pictures and reviews. (It was not busy, turned out booking was not necessary). The decor was very nice but it was SO COLD inside I could not truly enjoy myself. Other diners were wearing coats and hats inside - no where near the door - that's how frigid it was. Food was pretty good, but not outstanding. If you're not going to heat the pub, a working fireplace would be a great addition!

Also a great pub with a special flare near Regent’s Park. We just grabbed a beer and enjoyed the music while watching people moving to the Sherlock Holmes museum. I will definitely come back soon.

We booked dinner for December 31st. Absolutely friendly staff. They make you feel pretty good. Lil is a sweetheart of a person. He helped us with the choice of food, with the traditions there that night and he showed us the fireworks on TV because we couldn't go see them. Totally recommended place and Lil is the best😍

A warm place where we were welcomed with kindness and served quickly. Besides the overcooked bacon, I ate the chorizo, the camembert bread and a cheese burger and I enjoyed it! If you are looking for a place with friendly service and a typical pub atmosphere, this is the right place.
