I was here for a stag weekend, it's a brilliant hotel and beds and rooms are well cleaned, I was suprised to see my clothes folded when the beds were being made, that was a good touch, 5 to 10 minutes walk to the metro (could be longer if your walking sideways with drink down your neck) I'll hopefully be booking here again soon, the dark fruits cider is too easy drank

A dreadful experience. Had to move room 3 times in 2 days. First room was dirty and someone had been to the toilet and not flushed. We moved twice after that to escape the noise from the bar with the music blasting out for all of the many students that fill this place. It is more of a student hostel than a hotel. A very noisy hotel up to midnight. We booked a table in the restaurant one evening but it was spoilt by music blasting out from the bar 15 feet away and there were drunk students shouting their heads off at the entrance to the restaurant so we left. Found out the next day my wife had Been bitten by bed bugs from the hotel. If you are a couple or family avoid this dreadful hotel.

Wonderful service, the team are just amazing. Really made our family feel so welcome, especially our little boy. We have stayed here a few times now, we use it as a base when our son is visiting the Freeman's Hospital. When I say they go above and beyond they really do. To complimentary upgrades, to sending our sons little bear back in the post that he'd accidentally left in bed , very rare you find customer service like that these days. We genuinely look forward to coming. Also the breakfast is incredible. We look forward to seeing you next year. X

Our room was nice, with a big king size bed and oooft! the shower!!!!! Wow! It was like getting caught up in a tsunami. Best shower I think I've ever had.. let down by the cleanliness though, there was still food and drink in the fridge from the previous visitors and rubbish in the bathroom. Bit of a shame.. The room was incredibly hot throughout the night, even with all the windows open as much as they could.. which I can probably let slide as it would have been worse the other way round. Breakfast was a disaster.. almost everything was gone when we got there (an hour before service finished) and things were gradually topped up 5-10 minutes apart, so you couldn't actually ever get a a full plate.. just bits at a time.. Stay were nice.. location was great.. I'd stay again if I was in the area.

The room I got the first night was old, smelled musty, carpet dirty, lift out of order. Second night I moved at second floor, and room was new, clean, the complity floor looks different and thousand times better than the first.

Unfortunately, I had a few problems on my arrival, the light inside the door wasn't working therefore couldn't see into the wardrobe ( this was fixed by day 4 of my stay) no central heating a portable plug in radiator was acquired. My room wasn't serviced the first night. Unable to shower, water too forceful. Bed extremely comfortable. tral

Stayed on an over night stop off. Our room was large and warm with a great shower. Check in was very good. Breakfast sadly was not as good. Due to the fact a coach tour was staying at the hotel some of the supplies at breakfast were quite depleted as the coach guests had already had breakfast even though we arrived to eat at 8.30am. Our table was directly inline with the breakfast room door that was propped open as was the main hotel entrance door for cases to be loaded onto the coach. This resulted in us sitting in a very cold draught. After several requests for the door to be closed it was but by this time we were very cold. There were very little cereal to choose from, the eggs and bacon were both very hard and almost no bread left in the baskets. There seemed to be no urgency in replenishing the items. Other than this all was fine.

Dreadful service from reception staff on Friday 26th July pm, so rude. Hotel room stank of smoking. Dated rooms, dirty shower head, cables hanging out the wall next to the headboard. Toilet had clearly not been cleaned as previous guest's 'deposit' still in there. Rowdy bar and noisy in the rooms above. The location is decent for going into Newcastle but Jesmond is generally not what it's made out to be. Just a haven for hen and stag parties, noisy and stinks of smoking wherever you turn. Will not return.

For a budget hotel, this place is my go-to when I stay in Newcastle. Rooms are well priced so you would expect them to be basic but actually they are well appointed, spacious, very comfortable beds and nice en-suite bathrooms. It can get z little noisy with local students socialising in the evenings but it does quieten down. Staff are what make this place though. I am just finishing mu breakfast right now and want to give Christina a shout out for her service! The reception team are lovely and helpful too. If you're doing a city break, great place to use as s base and great for business travelers who don't want to break the budget on expensive hotels.

Everywhere is clean within the hotel, bar, and terrace area. Food and drink not overly priced Which makes a change for a hotel bar. Bedroom and bathroom very clean and spacious. Bed comfortable. My only complaint is the room is so hot. Just a small window to open and a fan. Sadly where the power socket is located is too far from the bed to feel any real benefit from the fan☹️ Staff all very friendly and helpful. Many thanks to the bar staff for recommending Appleshed cider.

Great price for this hotel and can't fault the cleanliness. The shower was powerful and bed was very comfy with a good choice of pillows to choose from. It's a 30 minute walk or 10 min bus ride into Newcastle itself and the bus stop is a stones throw from the hotel. There is free parking on site as well which was handy for us. The decor in the bathroom was a little dated and the noise did travel both from guests returning late to their rooms and from outside as our window faced out towards the front, so just something to note if you're a light sleeper like me!

Small carpark at the back if you get there after 6 you've got no chance of getting a space and its all residential parking except near the shops on the other side of the road. Quick check no information given Room was the 1st floor A very old lift to take all levels Room was a good size as was the shower room Bed was comfortable WiFi excellent Shower hot and powerful The hotel has a bar on the ground floor which was very busy with students and unfortunately the windows were single pane so you could hear everything Breakfast not included Location is in Jesmond Street so very popular with students a few nice restaurants close by. Would stay again if in the area but try and get a room at the back of the hotel.

The hotel is in a prime location. The rooms are old and dated. The cleanliness is poor. The staff are friendly on the surface but don't care much. All in all, a 2 star hotel. This is not a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination.

My husband and I have visited Fortuna numerous times together and never had a bad experience. We absolutely love the pizzas which are cooked traditionally in a wood-fired oven and the service is always great. I have also visited on other occasions with friends & family, knowing that we’re guaranteed a lovely night with fantastic food. Although my husband & I like to visit different places, this is our go-to restaurant on a regular basis when we’re in need of a great meal out.
