King Chef Chinese Takeaway in Newcastle upon Tyne

Lady on phone polite and helpful delivery driver friendly .The food was piping hot fresh and had plenty of meat in it .Throughly enjoyed the food and a great service

We recently changed to this takeaway from a one we used for years. Food is alway very tasty with lots of umami! You know when it tastes right.

Our go to Chinese on Monday night. Munchie boxes are brillant

Don't waste your money rice was over cooked and mushy chicken in my salt and pepper chicken was mushy hot and sour soup was sweet instead of spicy and very watery, even the dog turned his nose up at the rice

First time used since jade lake every bit as good if not better Def use more often

Go here regular. Amazing food and great staff. The smoked chicken is another level! Can't recommend enough

Would give no stars if I could. Food came, cold rice and sweet and sour sauce. Lots of food left. Absolutely horrible and un edible. Takeaway only 4mins away from home and cold. The only thing that's good is free prawn crackers which then are store bought.

First time ordering from king chef the meal was amazing hot tasty and on time the delivery driver was so polite and courteous. Every thing from taking our order over the phone to receiving our order was above and beyond our expectations thank you king chef we will we be ordering from you in the future

Great food, tasting really fresh and not loaded with msg favouring. Only ever collected so can't comment on delivery. Prices are reasonable considering the huge portions. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal that won't bankrupt you or leave you feeling like you've just ate a salt stick.. ***It seems recently it may have changed managers or cooks, so my review only stands for when I ordered 3 year ago***

Our go to for a Chinese takeaway. We can't fault any of the food we have had time and time again.

After spending £35.10 I was left disappointed and with a full kitchen bin. Chicken curry with mushrooms and onions was very watery and tasteless, crispy shredded chicken in Cantonese sauce was OK at best, sweet and sour chicken balls were flat to the point you'd think they'd been stood on with the sauce not the nicest, chips, fried rice, noodles and bbq spare ribs, again, OK at best. The menu I picked up on the way out the shop joined the food in the kitchen bin so that I don't make the mistake of going there again. Would not recommend and can't understand the good reviews. Why can't I find a good Chinese takeaway in Newcastle? Recommendations welcome. .

I would give this zero stars if I could. Very disappointed it used to be amazing and was our go to Chinese but the chicken was chewy the rice was burnt and over cooked and the noodles were very stale. Sad writing this but hopefully there's a change.

Ordered a Spanish omelette with chips I had one mouthful of the omelette and threw the rest in the bin had about half a dozen chips, weren't cooked properly.. the omelette was burnt, well overcooked and had been slopped into the carton box, looked like pig swill. I had been at work all day , and for quickness went there ( it's only a couple of streets away ) .. I'd rather starve than go there again. If I could, I wouldn't have given it a one star rating, minus a definite rating...

Used for first time last night got 2 all in 1 box meals, absolutely delicious, hot and delivered when they said it would be Will definitely be using them again.

Absolutely delicious food…. 5 star food hygiene rating… Speedy delivery when ordering online…. Only downside is that they don’t accept card payment in store which Is very annoying!

Absolutely beautiful food, the best Chinese I've had in ages and it was delivered so fast. We ordered, king prawn and char sui curry, fried rice, salt and pepper chips, salt and pepper chicken and King prawn and spare ribs in peaking sauce. The ribs had loads of meat on and they were amazing. Will order from here all the time now.

Called at 11pm to place a collection order only to be told they don’t take collection orders after 10pm. Google states 23:30 closing so unsure what they do with the final hour and a half.

It's a takeaway not too far from where I live. That has a wide ranging menu, the portions are mahoosive so be careful how much you order. They also deliver.

Not very impressed with my usual dish of king prawn chowmein. Lacked taste and had to add some soy sauce.

Amazing great food great value for money, This would be my review if it wasn't in the time of this pandemic, however my review at this time is this, the safety of this small business is amazing perspex window all the way around the counter social distancing hand over through perspex cupboard can order online and pay with cash if your worried about paying through the website and can also collect as I did payment was also through a perspex cash draw so again no contact with staff the place was spotless... 100% will be going back again. Food was absolutely amazing nothing over or undercooked or dry very very tasty couldn't recommend enough my highlight was the prawn toast very hard to get perfect from a takeaway but wow they aced it! I wish I'd took a photo but the food didn't last long enough!

Lovely fresh hot food we had delived in good time we ordered 3x munchie at £8.50 a boxs and BBQ ribs the ribs where best ever tasted the boxs come with a choice of 3 sauces curry gravy or sweet & sour sauce we picked curry and it was lovely taste the £8.50 boxs or more and enough for one I be ordering very soon I just have one request can you have the sauce separate and that will make my next order perfect Thanks be in touch soon

Ordered and got told 45 mins to an hour. Phoned 70 mins later to be told it hadn’t been cooked yet and would be in the next 15 mins. Not great when it’s gone 9pm on a school night. Have used this Chinese for years but since it changed hands it’s gone downhill on both time it takes and quality of food. Don’t bother! The lotus on the main road is better now in my opinion.

Sad to learn of the Jade Lake change to the King Chef gave it a go won't be back. Price rise and quality drop extremely slow service Won't be back after 14 years need to find another take away
