We visited the bakery today. The lady who served me was friendly. The Belgian bun was very scrumptious and very reasonably priced. The bakery had a lovely feel about it. The bakery was not busy at the time of visiting and all reasonable coronavirus measures were in place.

Stood in the queue at the till, totally ignored by the mature lady serving. Not the first time this has happened. Service with a smile would be nice. Head for Christine's cafe instead, good food, great service and even better, friendly and approachable staff!

We get our weekly bread from here and it’s always beautiful. Tasty and fresh and in particular the Adnams sourdough and their gingerbread men are our sons favourite and have been for years. Their cake portions are vast so hubby and I normally share! Sandwiches at lunchtime are another treat and then we take them to the local park when the suns out. A great bakery with a wide range of choice.

The decor of this cafe is not really to my taste. The service was a bit haphazard and not very efficient but the coffee was the star. Far better cup of coffee than you would get from one of the big chains. The music was good. But the place does need sprucing up in my opinion.

Fabulous bakery with Firestation Café, Bar & Coffee Roasters next door, really enjoyed stopping in for some delicious bread and a take away sweet snack. I understand this bakery has been serving Woodbridge over several generations and it bakes everyday using traditional methods.

I always pop in to buy pizza baps. Today I was lucky to get 3!!. Wasn't told of there would be more out soon. Just got told only 3. Before they won all the awards, they were the best Baker. Now you are lucky if they have enough made. I popped in at 12 noon, so not late in the afternoon. And they were not busy. Its very disappointing everytime I go in the, as I don't live in Woodbridge, I only come to Woodbridge maybe once a month. And go to the bakery then, but I am feeling not to bother anymore as the staff are unhelpful and get the pizza baps from another bakery up the road which are more helpful and staff are polite.

Really helpful advice & service when ordering a special cake from over 300 miles away! Lindsay was brilliant- the cake had one of those edible photographic toppings I'd ordered separately and it all worked well and the taste and texture of the chocolate sponge was perfect. Proud to have received a quality product from The Cake Shop where I worked as a "Saturday Girl" so many years ago. Thanks for all your help. DEE

The product sold is let down by poor customer service, courtesy and the layout of the shop. My inability to see the range of product was further xxx by the rude attitude of the staff in the shop, who it appeared could not cope with some one wanting to browse their products. What a shame, this was not a one of but has happened on more than one occasion.

The Cake Shop has been a family business in the town for a long time and many of us have been customers for decades - but since their appearance on 'Britain's Best Bakery' the shop has become more of a destination for visitors and tourists and as such, the prices have risen noticeably. I bought Belgian buns and their sourdough ciabatta recently: the buns were delicious, with soft pillowy dough and were very generously sized, but they're not cheap. The sourdough ciabatta was rather a letdown: in no way was it sourdough-like. It was just a soft ciabatta, but perfectly nice.It is a pity that the bakery appears now to be targeting the weekenders and tourists and not providing the good solid 'everyday' items at fair prices that town residents used to buy here.

After seeing this bakery on television I have ventured over 3 times but they never have anything in there! I have tried midweek early on in the day thinking that maybe I just missed out but still the choice is poor. What I have managed to try was not worthy of being 'britains best'. Disappointing.

The Cake Shop still make the best sausage rolls I have ever eaten. The pastry is wonderful and full of sausage meat. Whenever I visit UK their sausage rolls are one of the first things on my list of 'must haves'. I was very lucky that my sister had bought three for our arrival.

You will spot this shop very easily , its the one with a long queue , particularly at lunch time and when you have sampled the food , you will know why ! Used by most of the locals as the best place to buy bread .There is no where else to buy better bread and cakes . The choice is amazing and plenty of choice for lunch shopping too . Fantastic range of every bread you can think of . Reasonable prices for top quality food .I can highly recommend the macaroons... I simply cannot walk past without buying 1 or sometimes 2 !

This surely is one of the best bakeries in Britain; the queue that regularly forms outside it is sufficient evidence of this, but the sheer enterprise of their semi-sourdough ciabatta and Anglo-Saxon breads and their consistent quality is remarkable.Recommended:BagelsEnglish MuffinsSourdough breadsSaxon breads

I went here for a bite to eat an expensive caramel slice but I found the staff were very rude to me, I hadn't done anything but she was nice to the lady who was served before me which I don't understand? I dont find it Britain's best bakery at all! Winning the show led them to think they can sell baked goods for more.. a week friend of mine went in for a job interview during August she was called in for a meet and greet for a job there but the job was already taken by someone two days before. Andrea, the lady who called her in made my friend feel as if to hurry up and go. Poor service, won't be going back. (I did not at all write this review on behalf of my friend, just thought I'd mention it) I also visited this September.

We wanted to shop here after seeing the last two programmes of 'Britain's Best Bakery' There was lots of choice and interesting breads, sandwiches, pies and cakes to tempt us on our holiday. The roast veg and goat's cheese pie was unusual and tasty. I wanted to try the fish pie (as seen on TV!) but it wasn't the right season....so we'll have to come back again one day. The root-veg tray bake was really delicious (even if it sounds weird....) The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Visited today with my husband for two vegan hotdogs. Waited 30 minutes and went to counter to see if we had been forgotten, was told with no apology they had some big orders. 15 minutes later our food arrived with an apology about the wait. My husbands order was in correct, they took it away and corrected the order but his hotdog was cold when it was returned. When we went to pay we offered feedback as none was asked for and the response was that there was only two of them working and they were busy. No discount offered or compensatory cake or such. It cost £22 for a thoroughly poor experience.

Over-priced food - an unbelievable £4.75 for a stodgy, tasteless cheese scone with one pat of hard, cold butter. Only managed to eat half of it, really unpleasant, threw the rest away. The cakes were not covered and crawling with flies. Sandwiches even more over-priced at £8.25 for a small cheese sandwich with white bread. This cafe used to be so much better. Will drive past in future and not stop here.

Ver disappointed. Two young girls on duty who were indifferent to our questions. We sat down and neither came to ask if we needed drinks before ordering. There was only one other family in the restaurant. Left without ordering. Have been before with better results but not happy with the lack of service.

Stopped here for some breakfast and on entering we were met by a very cheerful friendly lady who showed us to a table. We had a yummy breakfast, it was delicious, together with some great coffee. All the staff were attentive, happy, and cheerful. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely go again when visiting Aldeburgh!

We took advantage of an unexpectedly sunny Sunday to take a friend in a wheelchair for a stroll on the prom and brunch at the Alex — where we knew there was an accessible loo, should it be needed. Our order included a vegan breakfast, muffin and poached eggs and smoked haddock fishcakes, plus cake. All were good, fresh and well-cooked. Hats off to the chef who perfectly poached those eggs. The staff were friendly and professional and went out of their way to help us with wheelchair manoeuvring. The place feels well-run.
