The Cake Shop in Taunton Deane

Really great sandwiches made to order. Great service from a nice small team who will make a fresh sandwich while you wait. A selection of cakes and the Shrewsbury biscuits are delicious! Just the right amount of spices. I do question whether the hygiene rules are adhered-to regarding gloves and combining food preparation with payment acceptance

We stopped off here on our way to the cricket and were so glad we did. The lamb and mint pasties were very tasty, with delicious chunks of lamb, and the shortbreads are just the right texture and make a very decently sized snack.

My favourites to eat here are- the bacon and cheese turnovers, the tuna or chicken filled rolls, the cheese burgers and the steak pasty's, for my sweet tooth I enjoy the mixed fruit slices, the iced buns, Bakewell slices and the tiffin. If I had to choose a loaf cake my favourite 2 would have to be the cherry and the lemon, all washed down with a lovely latte or creamy schmoo milkshake. Apart from the food and drink the warm welcome and friendly staff make it worth while coming to this bakery out of all the rest.

The Cake Shop is the perfect place for light refreshment. Whether it be a freshly made sandwich, a bacon bap, a pasty or my favourite, a deliciously decadent Belgian bun, you can be assured of top quality products and a warm, friendly welcome. My go to place for tea and cake on the way home from town.

Good food excellently prepared. Good taste.... friendly and dynamic baker. It opens early at 8am and closes at 4pm. Saturday it closes at 2pm. Not open on Sundays.

This cafe/bakery always has a great selection of pastries, cakes and savoury snacks. Whether you are nipping through and need a quick snack on the way to the office, or you need something for a tea party at home, this place covers all basis. I've never sat in the cafe, but the service is always with a smile and rural charm. It's my regular bakery visit, even when I lived in Bristol! I highly recommend the apple and custard lattice!

I was so pleased to find The Cake Shop tucked away on Station Road not far from Taunton rail station, about 5mins. Good coffee, great cakes and delicious pasties filled with meat and fresh veg. A lovely smile and welcome, given time to choose from the wide variety. There are smart, tidy tables cosily arranged in the rear or you can get the food to take away. I took mine to the little garden down the road and sat on a bench to eat among the lavender and in the sun. A wide variety of pasties including good Cornish ones in shortcrust and good,large, proper coffee freshly made. None of it as pricey as the chains that dominate the High Street and the quality and freshness far outweights them. The street is on a level and it would be possible to get inside with a wheelchair or pushchair. Being small and personal I'm sure if help was needed it would be accommodated One of the good independents to be found in the town I shall be returning here when I come shopping or before going on the train. So much nicer than station catering.

Great to stop off for a nice cup of coffee and home made cakes. Lovely staff....very friendly, very clean and well looked after little cafe..

We had been meaning to try the cakes at this shop for a long time. It is slightly out of town so we hadn't managed to. It was really nice. Lots of cakes to choose from all made there and great sandwiches. For a take away lunch or coffee and cake I would highly recommend popping in! Sam

Whilst waiting for my car we popped in here for a coffee and snack and it was a delightful little cafe. Well presented with the lady with a big smiley face. Lovely Red Thai pasty.

Best spelt bread I have ever tasted along with friendly service. This small artisan bakery and tea shop is a very good find and as they say the best things come in small packages.

Wonderful spelt loaves, cakes and a bread pudding on a two for one deal which is absolutely Devine. Well worth a visit but go early because they sell out quickly

Popped in for rolls,cheese scone and iced buns.They were to die for so fresh tasty,prices good too and a friendly smile .Thanks for some great food we will be back .

I found this lovely little artisan bakery and tea shop several months ago but didn't realise until yesterday that they were on trip advisor. Run by Simon and Kate the service you receive and their attenr-tion to the little details make this place a real gem. You can sit back in quietude and just let the busy world pass on by. The cakes are sublime and far too tempting, it's impossible to just pass by without calling in. Good luck to you, Simon and Kate, long may you continue in Taunton.

I pre ordered bacon sandwiches from these guys for about 20 people, and everyone at work was very very happy with the standard. The cakes are pretty awesome too!

I found this lovely little bakery/coffee shop when wandering from the train station to the town. What first struck me was the amazing range of cakes they had, all of which I was assured were made in the premises. I had a cup of coffee and a almond Danish which were very reasonably priced especially for something that was "real" not for something that was defrosted of bought in. I also bought a sandwich to take with me, the choice was very good and what I loved was that the bread and rolls were made fresh that morning. The service was very good, very chatty and knowledgeable and most importantly friendly. The café was clean, well laid out and well equipped. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to The cake Shop and will be back again soon.
