The Cairn Hotel Restaurant in Highland

Nestled in the picturesque Highland village of Carrbridge, the Cairn Hotel is a lovely place to stop for a hearty pub lunch/dinner. The staff are so kind and welcoming that you'll feel you've been coming here for years and enjoying a pint next to the open fire place will make you feel cosy and snug whatever the time of year. It also has a pool table that doesn't cost the Earth to play on (a rarity in this day and age). The location is lovely to as you step out onto the main street and take a 30 second wander to the old bridge or stop in after a round of golf at the nearby course. I can't comment on the rooms as we only came for dinner, but we would definitely come back.

Stayed for two Days in the Cairn Hotel. We spent a great night with the Barkeeper Jamie. He let the bar open for us and we spoke a lot. Also the other staff of this hotel is very friendly and the breakfast was good.

The lunch and dinner menu is extensive with something to suit everyone. We had lunch and the food and portion size didn't disappoint. The steak pie was made with good lean meat, and the fish and chips was plentiful and delicious. Great friendly service. I definitely recommend a visit.

10/10 food, 10/10 service. Get the haggis parcels and the burger, you won’t be disappointed! Will look to stay here next time I visit.

Very kind and helpful! We came here as we ran out of petrol and the owner helped us generously to charge the car (hybrid luckily). During the time it took we had a very tasteful lunch next to the fireplace. So we were lucky twice. And had the time to take pictures of the amazing bridge just opposite of the hotel, too. We hebben genoten van de gezellige sfeer, brandend haardvuur maar vooral voortreffelijk eten! De duif met speyside met black pudding, aanrader. Bediening vriendelijk en vlot.

Ate here as a party of 5, 4 adults and 1 child. All food was enjoyed, especially the steak pie. Cajun fries were a little on the hot side but all in all a good place.

Stayed three nights in the hotel and had dinner in the pub area. Amazing service by the staff each night. All the food was of high quality and tasted fantastic! I would recommend the Haggis Lasagna!

We have passed this pub many times and always intended to visit sometime. This time we did, food was good, hot and well presented. BUT, the service let them down, long waits for someone to appear and then longer wait for food. After two hours we decided to leave after main course plates not cleared after 15 mins. Did want a pud, but we were fed up of waiting.....but then couldn't ask anyone for our bill, as the solitary person serving had disappeared! It was explained that they only had one chef that night.....but chefs don't clear tables. We'll not go again

Flying visit up into the highlands and we booked in for a night. We had a great room “Dulnain” spacious, clean, lovely comfortable bed, pillows and duvet. Although it was on the roadside, there was no traffic after 10pm so it was t a problem. Food was very good, I went for the chicken shawarma which was tasty. Good busy bar

Im Restaurant gibt es zu Stoßzeiten, wenn alle Tische belegt sind, zunächst Pager, die das Freiwerden des Tisches anzeigen. Getränke kamen sehr spät, erst deutlich nach der Vorspeise. Insgesamt ist hier viel los, daher entsteht etwas Unruhe. Die Karte ist sehr umfangreich mit traditionellen schottischen aber auch einer Vielzahl anderer Gerichte. Hier findet jeder etwas nach seinem Geschmack. Einige traditionelle Gerichte werden auch modern interpretiert. Insgesamt schmeckt das Essen recht gut.

Love this place. Have been twice and both times have been excellent. It is a proper local bar serving great value fresh food. The beers are well kept, supporting local breweries. The thing that really stands out are the friendly, efficient staff. Hard to imagine better service anywhere.

We’ve been here for a drink a couple of times & thought we’d try eating here as it gets good reviews Called to book and was told that wasn’t necessary and not a problem as we would get a table even if busy it would be a short wait, they only take bookings for tables of 6 or more Travelled up there tonight …. Heaving ! No chance of a table & no idea how long we’d have to wait …ok we’ll leave ….. she called after us maybe 45 minutes but no guarantees, we decided to wait & went to sit at a recently vacated table outside only to be told we couldn’t as there was a queue of people waiting! So the suggestion was we had to stand on the pavement outside, on the main road for 45 minutes? I don’t think so !! Very poor show Cairn Hotel & we certainly won’t be back & friends we’re awaiting out our feedback … that’s simple …. To be avoided

Lovely pub, very welcoming and attentive staff, good menu. We all picked something different off the menu and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, I had to leave some of mine (Sunday roast) as I couldn't finish it. Everything is locally sourced where they can and bread is homemade for the Focaccia starter, (can't comment on other breads). The pub itself is lovely with a log burner and logs stacked on the side, would be lovely and cosy in winter, there are plenty tables outside but we opted for eating inside. We will be back.

The food at the restaurant is fantastic. I haven't had such a lovely meal in quite a while. The restaurant was very busy but I'm not surprised as the standard of their food is really high. My whole family enjoyed every bite and the staff were very attentive. Honestly some of the photos here make this place look average but it's not and is a hidden gem.

Good reviews are easy to write. The food, service and welcome were all excellent, and a food allergy was catered for. Perhaps unsurprisingly it can get busy quite quickly, so try to book.

Booked here for Sunday lunch, we both had starters, prawn tempura and speyside terrine both excellent followed by the Sunday roast beef with roast potatoes, boiled potatoes 3 veg and a huge Yorkshire pudding, the beef came as two huge, thick slices tender melt in the mouth, the Yorkshire was crisp and light, the veg just perfect. Well done to all the staff for top quality food served with a smile. Well worth a try, but do book.

The only place in town for dinner, the pub leaves much to be desired in terms of good quality and good service. Our waitress was almost nonexistent, and the food was like deli food. Not recommended.

This lovely warm and cosy bar was packed on arrival and someone kindly moved tables so that we could sit together as a family.The gentleman that served us was so friendly engaging in conversation with not us but the children as well and even had time for the dog! Called to reserve a table for 4 folk but told they only reserve tables for 6 or more (strange I thought)...its was 1st come for the rest of the tables....so we arrived at 4.45pm to be told they don't start until 5pm...so we sat & looked at the menu in the small & cosy public bar...before we got shown to the last available table in the "dining room"...where there was several diners in already...the food was OK & reasonable priced....

It's a struggle to find somewhere decent to eat in the area. Our B&B recommended the pub here for dinner as Andersons in Boat (which we had tried earlier and was very good, but was closed on Mondays). Sadly our feet stuck to the carpet, it badly needs decorated and it was very dirty. The food was barely passable, cold, tasteless and I felt quite ill a few hours later.

Came for a family lunch on our way up to the outer Isles and felt treated differently to locals.We were given a Sunday lunch menu however we asked if they had a regular menu (like what was displayed outside) and was told no that's all they had.This was fine, there wasn't too much choice but we would have preferred to order off the regular menu.On leaving we noticed several groups eating different things that were definitely not on the menu we were given. It really felt like one rule for locals and another for visitors.
