We spent three lovely nights at Ardshealach Lodge, on a bed and Breakfast basis, and chose to have dinner there each evening. The standard of accomodation was excellent, huge bed, large bedroom and lovely views. This is such a relaxing place with a wonderful warm and inviting welcome where nothing is too much trouble. As always the standard of food was superb as was the service. We have eaten here before and would definitely come back to stay again.

We are here last week with our teenager. We were staying in a cottage in the area. I’d booked ahead. The place itself is lovely, set in the most gorgeous gardens. For starters we had the seafood of the day and the venison. Both were great but the seafood was just beautiful. For mains two of us had the venison which was totally melt in the mouth and one had the halibut which was beautifully cooked with a tasty sauce. Unfortunately no room for desserts which I’m sure would have been great.

I was a little put off when calling by to book a meal as when I said that we were staying in Salen (I said, 'Saylen'), I was rapidly corrected by the proprietor to 'Sarlen'. Oh dear I thought, another mispronunciation and I'll be on the naughty step. So we--four adults, a three year-old and a wee babe-in-arms--arrived in a little trepidation only to be warmly welcomed by proprietor and lovely waiting staff and shown to our own beautiful dining room. This had a variety of toys to be discovered and kept the three year-old happy for the whole evening--when not eating. Really delicious starters (I had home-made haddock paté) and lovely main courses followed -- most of us had the duck (see sample menu on website). For pud, I cannot resist cranachan and didn't. The staff were entirely lovely. So thank you to everyone there for am excellent meal and delightful evening.

I’ve travelled much and I’m in the food business. There are no corners cut the quality of all products used it unquestionably good and the standard of preparation is high. You just look at the wine list and realise somebody knows the business. Not big names but really well chosen reasonable. Pinot Noir from Langiedoc was execellent. Had a short business stop on but will return with my family future.

Stayed here for one night and wish I had stayed longer! Fantastic b&b in which both the beautiful grounds and rooms are maintained to a very high standard. The attention to deal is excellent. Breakfast really is superb .... i had a long leisurely breakfast to set me up for the day and the food just keeps on coming ..... The only downside for me was that I didn’t have dinner here as I had already made other arrangements. Will be back and will definitely book dinner ! Thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Beautiful location on Ardnamurchan, spotlessly .clean comfortable room with great views. Pre dinner drinks in an airy conservatory. Michelin star food beautifully presented but without the fuss from a choice of five or six starters and main courses. Good choice of wines, not overpriced.Cooked breakfast to order always hot. We stayed for 5 nights in Ardshealach Lodge and loved it. The rooms rooms were tastefully decorated ( a coat hook at the inside of the twin room's door would have been useful), spotlessly clean, quiet and had a beautiful view of the loch in the distance. The food was absolutely beautiful ! Breakfast was already a delight (best eggs ever, delicious fruit salad) but dinner was simply fantastic each night. We had planned to explore other restaurants too but never did - we didn't want to miss one of Jill's dinners ! You can take a stroll through the beautiful gardens, walk down to the loch or just enjoy a drink in the beautiful conservatory with it's French windows. Jill was very friendly and even allowed us to use her drying room and her washing machine - both highly appreciated !

We ate dinner here recently and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the service. Acharacle is a small place, so we didn't have very high expectations, but we we had an excellent dinner which would put many fancier restaurants to shame. We had pre-dinner drinks in a conservatory room with lovely views out to Loch Shiel, and were served miniature smoked salmon pate tartlets, olives and feta cheese to accompany our drinks. After this classy start, we had a great dinner with local produce and smiling service in the busy restaurant. We stayed at Ardshealach Lodge for 4 days in early June and had a wonderful visit. Our room was large and with fabulous views running down to Loch Shiel and there is a large and very comfortable conservatory where we could sit and look out at Jill's immaculate garden to the loch beyond (and enjoy the company of Jill's very handsome cat, Boss!) All guests are very welcome to wander round this garden and such a lot of hard work has gone into making it a delightful place. There is a very productive vegetable garden which supplies the restaurant and the planting in all the borders is beautifully done.Breakfasts were very generous and delicious which meant that we needed very little for lunch in order to be able to eat the varied and imaginative dishes which Jill cooked herself for supper. The restaurant is obviously very popular with locals and guests alike and fully justifies it's reputation of excellence.Altogether such a lovely peaceful place to stay and we thoroughly recommend it.Catherine & Charles Hodgson

I have known the Loch Shiel area for forty three years. My family have had a holiday cottage close by for more than seventy years! As a base for boat trips on Loch Shiel or the bays, beaches and islands of the surrounding seas, hill walking, or just enjoying the glorious landscapes with their big skies, you really couldn't do better than to stop over in Acharacle and stay at Ardshealach Lodge, where Jill and her staff will give you a hearty highland welcome. ARDSHEALACH LODGETo describe Ardshealach as a B&B is a misnomer, and falls way short of doing justice to Jill's comfortable lodge and superb restaurant. I can say with absolute sincerity that there is no place that calls itself a B&B that offers the service, facilities and quality of Ardshealach. It is much more a bijou hotel with three bedrooms and restaurant offering local produce from the sea and surrounding countryside, and fresh vegetables and fruit from Ardshealach's own gardens.GLORIOUS SURROUNDINGS AT ANY TIME OF YEARThe setting is superb, with views over Loch Shiel to the mountains of Roshven and Loch Sunart. With the historic thirtennth century Castle Tioram, the River Shiel itself and the wonderfully remote and scenic Ardnamurchan Peninsula all wthin easy distance by bicycle or car you are, by staying at Arsdshealach Lodge, in the centre of one of the most alluring and beautiful parts of Highland Scotland.I cannot end this post without mentioning the excellent value for money offered by Jill and her staff. Breakfasts are traditional and all ingredients are locally sourced where possible. Evening dining is a delight as you relax in the conservatory with pre dinner drinks and canapes, away from the midges, with the full panorama of Loch Shiel before you. Whether you go in January, as we have just done, or in the long days of the Highland summer, you will enjoy an experience literally without compare.TA

We have stayed and eaten here many times over the past 10 years and each time the experience is perfect. Although this is listed in Tripadvisor as a restaurant, there are 4 bedrooms and a cottage as well. Jill has an extensive garden and her produce and flowers appear in the dining room, along with excellent local venison, lamb, beef and fish/seafood of all kinds. She is a great cook and does not obscure the quality of the ingredients by over complicated treatments. The food is simple and delicious, and the restaurant is well used by locals and visitors alike. The bedrooms have been recently renovated and the bathrooms are particularly lovely, having underfloor heating now. I booked this as simple overnight accommodation for a work trip with some overseas visitors. I said we might arrive late but was told not to worry, a meal could be provided. To arrive late and find this delightful place, lights on in the conservatory providing a warm welcome was most encouraging. But then we found the rooms were beautiful and we were then served a delicious meal after a short wait as it was cooked, entertained by the friendliest cat I have ever met - The Boss.Jill made us very welcome, the rooms were superbly comfortable with all amenities and very fast wifi and also a delicious breakfast. But the reason I would like to go back for a holiday is because my room had a bookcase full of a most eclectic selection of books and I think I could really relax here. We were recommended this restaurant when staying nearby. It had a really nice homely feel with great service, we sat in the lounge and were served Canapés while we looked at the menu and decided what to eat. The menu wasn't extensive but had plenty of choice for my wife (fish lover) and myself (meat lover). When the food came is was well cooked, well presented and well served, we also washed it down with a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. In summary it was a very nice meal, with good service and an extremely relaxing atmosphere, would I go again, yes most certainly. One thing of note is that the restaurant is not very large and popular so it would be a good idea if not essential to book in advance.

This place was recommended to us by Emma at the Mingarry Park B&B where we were staying and was well worth the 40 minute walk to get to it. On arrival we were shown in to a gorgeous conservatory where we soaked up the early evening sun and enjoyed a wee aperitf, then we were shown in to the dining room. There were freshly baked, homemade rolls on the table and a jug of iced water - always a vote winner in my book. There were four of us and we had a variety of starters and main courses which included seafood platter, venison, chicken stuffed with haggis and the vegetarian option for one of our party, and all were delicious. I was the only one with any room left for dessert and had a lovely light lemon mousse. Following dinner we had coffee and homemade tablet in the cosy sitting room, where i could have spent the night! Jill, the owner and chef, very kindly offered us a lift back to Mingarry Park to save us another 40 minute jaunt - well beyond the call of duty and very much appreciated! Can't wait to return here for another meal and hopefully an overnight stay the next time too!

We have just eaten dinner here and the food is absolutely perfect. Fresh seafood to start with followed by scallops cooked with capers - beautiful. The puddings were really nice too - sticky toffee pudding and crannochan. I really could not fault anything at this restaurant. The prices were incredibly reasonable too. If you are in the area don't hesitate. If you are not think about driving! They have accommodation too - might stay next time. 10/10.

Didnt get much of a welcome on arrival. A very harassed looking lady looked up from her work in the kitchen and said someone would be there in a minute. We went into a conservatory and were plagued by a ginger cat which would not leave us alone. It's not very hygienic in a restaurant to have family pets wandering around. The meal was nice but not spectacular. The dessert was the worst - chocolate roulade which was very heavy and dense and too cold, seemed like it was out of the freezer and not freshly made. Sorry but won't be back.

Recently renovated lodge decorated to a very high standard. We enjoyed a very peaceful night here in a lovely big comfortable bed. The restaurant here is a real treat. Delicious food using lots of local produce. Great views over the loch. A very warm welcome from a very talented, hard working owner.

I can't say enough good things about this place. We turned up on a Saturday night having foolishly not booked. They had hosted an open garden day that afternoon so had been incredibly busy and were under no obligation to accept us, but could see that we had two young children who were hungry and so they welcomed us in.The food was top notch- the best steak I have had for a long time and perfectly cooked. Others in our party said the same about halibut and scallop dishes. I thought it was excellent value for money as well. It's not cheap and cheerful but you really do get the quality that you pay for. My fillet steak was £20 and I can pay double that down south for a much smaller piece that would not be as deliciously served as this was.We will definitely be back if we're in the area again.

This was our second restaurant visit within the area and this place is simply a fantastic setting for a meal. From the minute we entered we were made to feel at home and you have the choice of sitting within the conservatory or sitting room whilst waiting to be taken to your table in the restaurant. The waitress could not have been any nicer and the food was fantastic, and if we were in the area again this is a place we will be visiting again.

We went here on our Wedding Night Dinner, just the two of us as we had snuck away to do the deed; and found the delights of this place. The food - and there was plenty - was excellent, smoke salmon canapés as a treat, with a meat platter starter which was a meal in itself, followed by the main course of venison and the best steak that I've ever had in UK! To cap things off, a very indulgent chocolate mousse and Cranachan and champagne! How the other half lives!! Go here, but only if you want an excellent meal, beautiful views and time to eat without being harassed. Rob, the waiter, has more smiles than a smile factory. We'll be back, but it's a shame you can only give 5 stars.

Recently organised a surprise dinner for our mum at Jill's. What a fantastic evening we had. Firstly we were shown into the beautiful conservatory for a pre dinner drink which was lovely and relaxed. Once we had all chosen from the fabulous local menu we were shown to the dinning room. Our party of 13 were all served at the same time and the food was delicious presented lovely on piping hot plates. The scallops just melted in your mouth and come highly recommended. This truly is value for money and we did feel quite spoilt thank you so much Jill for the fabulous evening and the most amazing food. Hopefully see you for Mums 71 st birthday.

Stayed here many times and also at Bluebell Cottage next door and always eat here. Jill is a fantastic cook and host and always offers a choice of local meat and fish in the restaurant. On my last visit I had the fillet steak twice as it was so good! The rooms are comfortable and the location is to die for with views of Loch Shiel. You need to book ahead during busy times to make sure you get a table but it is well worth it. During the summer you can wander in the gardens and enjoy a drink outside. There's nowhere like it.

The location of this hotel/restaurant is brilliant. You can see Rhum in the distance. Our room was excellent, very clean and comfortable. The dinner and breakfast were both excellent and service throughout was friendly and accommodating. We were on our way to Arisaig for a wedding and our decision to stop here (and also visit nearby Castle Tioram) was an excellent one.;

Ardshealach Lodge was recommended by the owners of Mingarry Park while they were taking a break from evening meals. Wow - what a find! The food was superb and complimented with a fine atmosphere. With canapés and drink prior to the main event in the tastefully decorated lounge, I looked forward to the delights this place had to offer. I ordered pâté followed by fillet steak - and was certainly not disappointed! The food is excellent and will definitely return on my next visit to the area!

From the pre-dinner drinks in the elegant conservatory through the carefully resourced and lovingly prepared local produce nothing was too much trouble for the charming staff. My wife and I had dinner here one night in September. My meal was excellent, the seafood risotto with stuffed sole was memorable: but my wife was not happy with her fillet of beef. She said the beef quality was OK, but the sauce had little flavor. And we were not happy being kept waiting in their "conservatory" for at least 15 minutes after the time of our reservation, and then being stuck in the back corner of the restaurant, when I had made this reservation over 5 weeks in advance, and we were the first to arrive and to be seated for dinner.

Listed as a restaurant the house also has a few rooms for B&B or full board.A brilliant find for our 3 night stay. The house is in a marvellous location with extensive grounds and a footpath down to Loch Shiel. The refurbished (rebuilt?) large "conservatory" building is a lovely place to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and nibbles and the food really is exceptional. Our room had lovely views down to the loch.Vegetables are mainly straight from the large garden and Jill's cooking is first class.Jill, herself, is an exceptional lady who always seems to be working but still has time to make you feel at home is her lovely house.Thank Jill.

Dining here was like a step back in time but a very pleasant one. Jill's cooking is renouned and the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that I wasn't overly impressed with what I ate but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that I chose the wrong things for me. I decided on chocolate roulade for dessert because the waitress recommended it but should've gone for the autumn crumble. If my father had been alive, he would've loved this place. He was old school, terribly polite and particularly fussy at times and he would've enjoyed the food, style of the place and how he would've been treated.

Within my 40th birthday treats was dinner at Ardshealach on night one and I am just sad that this is not our local restaurant as we would be here often! The Lodge itself is a beautiful building in fabulous grounds. We were greeted and invited through to the lounge (with mouthwatering aromas wafting in from the kitchen!) for drinks and canapes to relax and order before being taken through to the dining room. This place is so incredibly relaxing and inviting whilst remaining stylish and comfortably formal, quite a tricky combination to pull off and they do it fantastically. The service and welcome was superb and the food simply delicious. Quite the best starter we've ever enjoyed, mouthwatering mains and puddings to make you smile as you sit back happily to admire the view and consider moving back to the lounge for coffee and tablet. We enjoyed the company of fellow guests and this place felt like we'd been visiting for years...if only you were at the corner of our street. Until next time....

Carrbridge is small village but this hotel restaurant served wonderfool meal. Salmon/Haggis Lasagne and freshly cooked breakfast was wonderful. Pub(restaurant) was crowded by local residents but staff services were quick and friendly. Hotel room has only minimum facility but enough for good sleeping.

We were really looking forward to our stay. The first thing we noticed when we arrived was the friendly owner. In addition, the hotel is very quaint and clean. But... and now comes the big but: the service is an absolute disaster. At breakfast we were greeted by a very unmotivated and unfriendly lady and we quickly decided not to have breakfast in the hotel and rather visit a café. In the evening we wanted to give the hotel's pub/restaurant a try. We sat there for an hour without anyone coming to us. When we wanted to get drinks at the bar, we were greeted again in an unfriendly and grumpy manner. Otherwise we were ignored by the two waiters. They preferred to eat and drink with the people at the bar. But when local guests arrived, they were immediately served and given a card. We hadn't received a menu yet. And that after a good 1.5 hours. When we mentioned this, it was said that drinks were not ordered at the table but only at the bar. This turned out to be untrue when the waiter also provided other tables with drinks. When we asked for the menu, it was put in front of us without a word and the food we ordered was then brought back in a wordless and grumpy manner. It was our fourth trip to Scotland. We have never experienced such behavior in any hotel. This time we wanted to support a small hotel and family business and not always the big hotel chains. But this experience makes us think again.
