Being in the area we decided to look around the historic town, parking in a large car park (we were early- before 10am) so had a choice of places to park, certainly not the case later, when there were cars queuing for a space. When we returned t the car we thought that we would try this cafe which is in a little courtyard, it was surprisingly empty, but during our stay there was a steady stream of people coming in, or picking up a takeaway The food is good, prepared to order and fresh. The prices are reasonable to. All in all well worth the visit.

We found this little cafe tucked away not long before it was due to close but we were met by a friendly lady and ordered two white hot chocolates. The menu is extensive with lots of variety in their hot drinks and the cakes looked fabulous. I can honestly say the white hot chocolate is the best I have ever tasted and it was very welcoming on a cold day. Thank you!!!

I really don't know why this place was so quiet; food was good, service excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. My tea came in a proper little teapot, and I managed to get 2 and a half cups out of it. The decor certainly isn't glossy and trendy, but I like that. Quaint, but perfectly clean. I would definitely recommend it

We called in at Holt looking for a bit of lunch and after parking in the nearby car park came upon the chapel yard cafe. After a warm welcome we ordered the soup and roll, quiche and pasty for me. The soup got the thumbs up from Mum aged 86 whilst both the proper pasty (I’ve lived in Cornwall!) and a generous slice of quiche came with copious salad and hot new potatoes and butter. A lot of cafes don’t always do such lunches terribly well or it’s chips with everything and that lingering smell of chip fat. I’m pleased to say chapel yard is the exception. Whilst it wasn’t busy on a cold, grey late dec afternoon in Norfolk the food and welcome we’re excellent. The coffee and tea cake that followed didn’t disappoint either. All in all we left full, satisfied and warm. Well done chapel yard.

Take up the offer to add a generous slice of cake as well and you will not leave hungry. This place is tucked away in the corner of Chapel Yard, but is well worth seeking out. Visited Holt for a bit of a Christmas shopping whilst up in the Norfolk area and popped into this cafe for 'elevenses'. Had a lovely buttery & flaky Eccles cake & my wife Angela had a very tasty (& large!) Belgian bun. Like with a lot of places in Norfolk, the decor is old fashioned, with dark stained furniture, chintz fabrics and patterned carpets. The food though, was very edible, served efficiently and was reasonably priced. Although the place is dated and tired, the standards of hygiene. Appear to be of a satisfactory standard. If we are totally honest, Byfords around the corner, are too up themselves and keep customers waiting, thinking they will return and pay silly prices for their run of the mill Fayre. Walk around the corner to this Chapel yard Cafe. Not quite as grand, but the food it fine and only half the price of Byfords. We would certainly return when next in the area

We actually came here a few years ago when our son was a toddler, so we knew there would be plenty to choose from for our children. It didn't disappoint. This was a quick morning visit before going to the station to ride on the Steam Train. My children both had apple juice and, despite a previous review, were happily given straws to use. I had a cinnamon butter toasted teacake, which was delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The toilets are upstairs, which is a bit of a hassle with small children, but can't be helped. Overall, I would definitely recommend it and would revisit.

Looking forward to a family day out in Holt, we immediately came across The Cafe Chapel Yard. It is the first coffee shop you come to from the main car park in Holt. We were only wanting coffee and teas, but our two children who are aged four and two said they would just like to have water. As parents we are always happy if they choose the healthy option of water, rather than drinks containing sugar. The owner of the coffee shop brought out our drinks, with our childrens waters in the squashy type plastic clear disposable cups. When we politely asked if it would be possible for our children to have a straw for their water, the owner responded with, "Sorry I only have half a dozen straws left and I am saving those for our milkshakes". She promptly left. We were left astounded by this response. The cups were very difficult for both of our children to handle as they squashed when they tried to drink their water. For our youngest it was impossible to drink, as it just spilt all over him without a straw. It was only 10 minutes until closing and the two sets of customers that came in after us certainly didn't order any milkshakes. Not only did this seem extremley miserly, poor customer service, it made us feel as if we were not welcome. It does not give a good first impression for visitors to Holt. Thankfully, we were extremly impressed with the rest of the other shops and places to eat during our visit to Holt.

A day trip to Holt needed a quick Tea and Cake stop, so we walked in the doors to what was probably one of the warmest welcomes you can have on a drizzly English Summer day. The staff were very attentive, helpful, informative and very polite. The selection of foods available was excellent a well priced, with offers for a snack and a cake etc.Between us we went for a Cheese and Broccoli soup, and Crab Sandwich with a pot of tea for two. Both was very good, and my wife regarded the granary bread roll that came with the soup as really good and my sandwich was very well filled with local crab meat (white and brown meat), both were very tasty. The cakes that followed were sublime, and the Florentine I had was massive (and very tasty!).If you are every in Holt, pop in as I'm sure you'll be well served and not regret it, we will be back again soon.
