This is a very nice coffee shop run by a very succesful chocolatier, we visited for a coffee and a cake ,there are some truly gorgeous creations there big and small we had a coffee and a tea a lovely muffin and apple slice ,its a lovely calm place great staff and so much good chocolate ,worth visiting for the chocolate creations alone but doesnt fail on drinks and cakes

Delicious ice cream and an over flowing Very Berry Sundae 🍨 Plenty of comfy cushions to sink into after a hard day on the beach. Friendly staff who served my toddlers with great fun.

Best coffee in East Wittering . Local business with excellent coffee and home made chocolates and cakes. A must for your morning caffeine kick👍

Asked prices which were way above my budget so asked for cheapest option to be greeted with pompous attitude from waitress I will not be returning every again

Whilst on a walk by the sea we ventured inland to east Wittering in search of some refreshment. Luckily, Lucy Armstrong's was the first one we came to and as it had seats available, in we went and we were not disappointed. The selection of cakes and confections here is simply overwhelming. I am not generally a huge fan of rich cakes but the Guinness & chocolate cake I had was delicious, and the Earl grey Tea I had was a good accompaniment to it. They also offer Redbush (Rooibos) and other teas, to suit most tastes. We left having experienced friendly service with a smile, and very fine comestibles. Highly recommended!

This is now the third time that I've visited this coffee shop because it is one of the best hot chocolates that I have ever tasted... in fact I said as much on my first visit! My remark was received with a Luke warm response! I have since visited two more times and I find the proprietor so completely off and unfriendly that I will no longer be going in nor recommending! Customer service is just as important as quality products! Such a pity! Try to at least smile! I felt like a nuisance ordering a simple hot chocolate!

I was put off coming here again by rude service and and a watery milkshake but I might try again at some point

We were looking online for a dog friendly cafe as we were on holiday in the area with the kids. Since there was no mention on it on their website or on Tripadvisor, we called to ask and they confirmed that they were! Wonderful fluffy waffles; it’s definitely one of the best we’ve ever tasted - go for their signature chocolate sauce topping for sure. So good, we ended up ordering three! There are also doggy biscuits at the counter, so nobody was left out. You need to try the signature hot chocolate; divine! We bought a box of 6 of their hand-made chocolate truffles to go, and everything single piece was exquisite. Good atmosphere too, very friendly staff and owner. A great local independent business!

I had arranged a chocolate making class for my friend’s hen party and it was brilliant. They were very welcoming and friendly which made a lovely start to the day. We were able to make our own chocolate slabs and decorate them with the toppings that we’d like - yummy. Was excellent value for money and would definitely recommend. Thank you again 🙂

This is a wonderful place to visit after a trip to the beach. Although I did not manage to try the hot chocolate that others rave about, I can vouch for the waffles- crispy on the outside with the right depth and fluffiness on the inside. They stop making them at 4:30pm so get there early!

This place served one of the best hot chocolates I have ever had and I have had many! Real chocolate flavour and not made from powder, the blow torched marshmallow was a lovely touch too.

I love good coffee in the morning I arrived at 12 sat outside with my Americano very very good coffee and only £2.50! Must come back and buy some chocolates.

We visit this place when on holiday in East Withering for the waffles! Always great with so many flavours to choose from. They also had some gluten free cake options for my husband which was appreciated!

I was fortunate to have been sent these as a gift. WOW !!!!. Like to think I've developed a discerning taste for high end chocolates but these are above anything that I've had. Don't know how you managed it Lucy but they start very subtle then the amazing taste hit comes in. Please visit her shop if you can, then find a quiet corner to savour and get your greedy chocolate chops well and truly tickled. Just sublime... 🥰🥰

Lucy and her team are fantastic, we have enjoyed every visit to Lucy Armstrongs Chocolates. The waffles are to die for, they are always cooked to perfection and my son loves the ice cream (which is also amazing, the chocolate ice cream is divine, so creamy). Thank you Lucy, keep doing what you do!!

I went in to this cafe today and the gentleman serving was so unfriendly. I am a local and will not be going back. The cafe was quiet and not busy so can’t understand why the server was so miserable? It felt like I was an inconvenience to ask for an ice-cream and to top it off he got the order wrong! Considering that another local ice-cream vendor had a giant queue by the beach, I would have presumed they would want the custom and potential repeat custom. I told my neighbour of our experience and they had a similar experience and haven’t been back since so this is not a first

managed to get back to Lucy's cafe again recently and so pleased to find nothing changed. a great welcome,great coffee,and great service...really enjoyable many thanks.

We visited this lovely little coffee shop a number of times over the summer and always received great service. Lucy herself makes the most amazing vegan cakes - highly recommend them although not Vegan they’re Delicious. I believe that she’s also won a number of awards for her chocolate skills. Some great gift ideas. I’ll be visiting and supporting you over the winter months and very much look forward to it. Thank you for keeping a small business going, such a difference from the big chains.

On friday 4th October my husband and I had been for a lovely walk along the seafront. We normally go to the Witterings but fancied a change. We picked this coffee shop because it was small and looked like it would serve lovely coffee. It did but unfortunately we were served by a gentleman that obviously did not want to be there. He did not smile once, looked impatient when I was trying to decide what to eat to the point that I did not bother ordering anything. When we received our coffee and both individually said thank you he did not even acknowledge we had spoken. We couldn't leave quick enough! What a shame.

I’ve become a regular visitor to Lucy Armstrong Chocolates in East Wittering as they serve great coffee ( I’m an addict, I confess) and the most awesome cakes and pastries with a particular emphasis on chocolate! I recommend the Guinness cake - dark and rich - and the waffles, which are light as a feather and really crispy. I like to pair a waffle with maple syrup and salted caramel ice cream. Cakes are made on the premises, as are the chocolates which are on sale in the shop. Lovely, friendly (and dog friendly) cafe year-round, even during the holiday season when it can be a bit busy.

I’m surprised by the two previous reviews. I regularly go to Lucy’s cafe and go there so frequently because the food and drink and service is always so lovely and personal. Unfortunately some people expect chain service in an independent cafe and treat the staff rudely. I particularly recommend the waffles and hot chocolate!

Went in for a drink and a snack. The man serving didn’t even acknowledge us as we stood waiting to be served. Granted, he was making drinks for another customer but he could have at least said ‘hello, I’ll be with you in a moment ‘. When he did serve us, he hardly spoke and certainly didn’t smile. Probably the most unfriendly service we’ve ever experienced. We noticed who we worked out to be the owner was sitting chatting to a friend while this was going on, together with another member of staff. Maybe they only like the locals. The drinks and cake were fine but we don’t feel inclined to return. We’ll go to the Drift Inn down the road, which is very friendly and has nicer decor.

Staying in the area we popped in here for a takeaway ice cream. The first order we put in we requested in a tub as my daughter cannot eat cones but noticed the waiter was putting it in a cone. As I corrected him he said "thanks guys for letting me know!!!" Clearly a long day and was eager to get closed up

Great cafe. Amazing hot chocolate, and waffles too! Home made chocolate on sale too. Highly recommended.

We visit every time we go to East Wittering beach - all we need is a glimmer of blue sky and a low tide and we’re off with our bucket and spades knowing that a warm welcome and an amazing hot chocolatey beverage is awaiting us when we’re all beached out! Our four year old is especially keen on their yummy ice creams. And did I mention the chocolates! Oh yes, hmmmm, lovely taste bud delights to be founds.

I have been in the Cafe a few times, but was a bit surprised to see one of the staff serve a customer food. Play with that customers dog and not bother to wash her hands afterwards.

Had a lovely holiday to the witterings topped off by visiting this lovely cafe! Yesterday we had the creme brulee brownies they make and they are just delishious! We brought some to take home And also returned today for some waffles and pininis!

Visited here on a very hot day and asked for a cold drink and was recommended the Ice Coffee which tasted great - staff are very friendly - the shop is well presented and very clean. Will go again .......

Popped in for a hot chocolate after a walk along the beach and was surprised by the friendly, calm atmosphere, delicious hot drinks and lovely staff. Reasonably priced for the quality and you have to try the homemade marshmallows!!

For just 10p more than a rank instant coffee on the seafront you can get a freshly made perfect cappachino here instead with proper chocolate grated on top. 2 mins up from the front - well worth the walk.

First time visit for myself and sons on Mothers Day as our usual establishment was "packed out" with no spare seating and we wanted coffee before starting our walk. So glad we did as the coffees were delicious and so was the taster of the chocolate cake. Will definetly be back for coffee and cake now I have tried it. Nice seating outside in the sun. Very nice :)

After a long walk on the beach we were looking for somewhere to refuel and were fortunate to find this cafe. Hot chocolate was wonderful as were the freshly baked cakes. Kids had the brownie and were very happy. Very pleasant and welcoming staff and would recommend.

Lovely cafe near beach with good range of snacks and delicious home made chocolate. Part of East Wittering village and a short walk from beach. Comfy chairs and stools and pleasant staff. Lucy is a chocolate maker and the produce is wonderful!

My three children and I visited the coffe shop this afternoon, we had hot chocolate, cream tea and some ice creams. The cakes and chocolates are all home made!!!The scones were the best I ever had and the friendly staff made us feel very valued. Keep up the good work. Will visit again!

Came to the cafe after a morning walk with the dogs on the beach. Dogs were made to feel welcome which was nice and I wish more establishments were like this. Was only going to have a cup of tea but was tempted by an early afternoon tea which was very tasty and plentiful. Son enjoyed a handmade waffle and salted caramel ice cream on top which he said was delicious (but wouldn't let me try. ) I asked for some more water for my teapot and was happily refilled without a problem. Smart surroundings and small choccie on the spoon was a nice touch. Will definitely return.

I ordered coffees and cakes at the till and my wife and I found a table. We heaped up piles of empty crocs, which remained uncollected throughout our visit in spite of the fact that staff walked right past them several times. We realised that a larger party were having problems with their order (no cutlery, confusion over number of cream teas, and problems with the drinks) so were not surprised when after waiting twenty minutes a young member of staff was sent to ask us what we had ordered. They had taken our money, but didn't know what we had ordered! Clearly there was no system in place for writing down what customers ask for. We asked for our money back. The excuse thrown back at was that she only had two staff, but we didn't feel that answering us back in this manner was either relevant or appropriate. The whole operation was a shambles. Clearly there were issues with the staff and the proprietress was unfriendly both to customers, and as it appeared, to them. One customer kindly picked up some used serviettes from the floor which had blown off a table, and was met with blank looks when she asked where she could put them. Not a word of thanks was offered. Orders appeared to be being dumped on tables with an element of annoyance, and it was clear from body language and behaviour towards staff behind the counter, that relationships were not good. We wondered whether there was an element of staff training going on when she told one young lady that she needed to serve the food with knives and serviettes. My wife's chair was knocked every time the proprietress walked past.

Hubby needed a cream tea!! Daughter and I had milkshakes. Delicious, delicious, delicious. Friendly staff. Glad we stopped.

We stopped here today.Staff were all friendly. Drinks were OK.Very quiet ,clean and tidy.May be a bit more food could be offered.

Had heard about the place prior to coming to East Wittering and was not disappointed. Excellent hot chocolate, would recommend the dark chocolate, and cake. Had the Guinness cake which actually tasted of Guinness! OK I suppose it should but how many times have you ordered something which "contains xxxx" only to think really! Being Dog friendly is an added bonus for those on the way or way back from the beach.

I'd already eaten, but stopped off here for a mint chic chip milkshake as the sun was roasting, and my legs were tired from a 47 mile bike ride. The lady running the shop was most helpful, and gave me a good tip for my cycle route back towards Chichester.I'd be happy to go back, the chocolate looked first class.

My partner and I both had the mixed Dark and Milk chocolate hot chocolate and a huge waffle with bacon and maple syrup. Best hot chocolate I've ever had, could have had cream and marshmallows as extras but the shavings of chocolate were delicious. The waffle was just as good - crisp on the outside, light and fluffy in the middle. A lovely friendly place to eat

Dog friendly cafe! Perfect for lunchtime or a light snack. We had an amazing waffle with pecan ice cream that was incredible. Staff were so friendly and very welcoming!

Bought a takeaway coffee and some chocolates from this lovely cafe. Both the coffee and the chocolates (salted caramel) were delicious.

We stopped here for coffee, we sat outside as we had 4 dogs with us but were told they would be welcome inside. Coffee (Cappuccino) was fabulous, great temperature and taste and served with their own homemade chocolate 10/10! Very friendly service and a lovely atmosphere, we will definitely be going back.

Visited for the first time today and had the most amazing freshly made waffles with bananas and the best chocolate sauce I have ever tested. The waffles were simply perfect ... extremely light and both crispy and soft in just the right places. The chocolate cookies warm from the oven were sublime. We will definitely be back.

My Mother suggested visiting this Cafe as she had seen it advertised in our local free magazine. It was definitely worth driving there from Chichester. We experienced very friendly service and excellent coffee with a complimentary chocolate on the side made by Lucy which was sublime. As a result I purchased a couple of boxes of Lucy's chocolates. I have now been fortunate to be able to taste some more of her chocolates at a friends house and they were also wonderful.

Had a lovely time here with friends and our children. Had hot chocolate and waffles and they were delicious, unlike any waffles I have had before....light and not overly sweet. Very nice service, lovely big clean toilet with baby change facility. We'll be back again and next time plan to buy some chocolates to take home.

Had an afternoon tea in this lovely little cafe. It was just superb, lovely attention to detail and every bite was sublime.....the coffee was superb too!All the staff are welcoming and friendly..overall a lovely place to have some lovely chocolate, cakes and a damn fine cup of coffee! As an added bonus there is a lovely selection of chocolate treats, hand made by Lucy for you to purchase.

We popped in here with the idea of having a spot of lunch. The Cafe does not "Cater" but sells drinks, waffles, ice cream, cakes and chocolates. In the absence of anything suitable for lunch we stopped for coffee and cake. This is the best coffee I had in East Wittering (although all of the other places we ate used pouches or vending machines). If you are looking for little more than a decent coffee and a nice slice of cake or ice cream in clean, pleasant surroundings I would recommend Lucy's. The location also makes it a great place to go following a walk on the beach.

Nice cafe with friendly polite staff, coffee was very good and chocolates wonderful. We had chocolate flip flop which I recommend, sit outside and watch the world go by. I hope this cafe is a success as the obvious hard work and dedication that's gone into it deserves success.

Great liittle Cafe, with the added bonus of Hand Made Chocolates by Lucy on site. Just a stones throw from the main beach at East Wittering, with a relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff.

Great cakes, coffee, fresh waffles - and chocolate related options, of course. I really liked it there. Everyone is very friendly. It is a great place to stop on the way to the beach or (and) on the way back.

Excellent coffee, cake and chocolate shop. Great friendly service and although we only had coffee, the ice cream milkshakes looked fabulous and quite a few were being ordered while we were in there. Will definitely visit again but worry about its longevity because of the limited food available. Please do not let this put you off visiting, it was great!

Loved the addition of Cream Tea to the menu, and the kids opted for their favourite waffles topped with quality, tasty "salted caramel " ice cream. Was yum!!

This is a bright modern cafe with delicious coffee and home-made cakes. I had a cappuccino with a free passion fruit chocolate and a slice of coffee and walnut cake. Amazing! The others had waffles with ice cream and sauce. A lovely place to stop after a walk on the beach.

The Cafe is more a coffee shop than a meal stop, however, it's worth going out of your way to visit. Really good coffee, served with one of Lucy Armstrong's signature chocolates on the side (I had a salted caramel - delicious).Alos on offer are some of the lightest, crispiest waffles I've ever eaten. A choice of really good ice-creams, chocolate sauce, maple syrup and more makes it all a real treat, and somehow if all seems totally guilt free. A really good addition to the area!

I was very excited when I heard Lucy was going to be opening a cafe a I have enjoyed her hand made chocolates in the past. The cafe in East Wittering is bright and airy and offers a wide range of drinks, teas and coffee as well as the most amazing hot chocolate! On my last visit I had one of the waffles - oh my goodness they are heavenly and amazing value! Light waffle with home made hot chocolate sauce and salted caramel ice cream is divine (other toppings are available!)This is a great place to stop and recharge your batteries and to treat yourself to something delicious.
