After choosing our new sofa my my girlfriends and I enjoyed lively beverages and a story about bucket hat lady and cafe Nero. Cafe Nero can’t compare to the joy of John Lewis 8/10. Spread a little joy come to Glasgow JL cafe for a casual night out

This cafe has a decent location in the Buchanan Galleries, but that is about all that was good about it. It is independent of John Lewis so my John Lewis card and benefits could not be used. The drinks chiller, while having a selection of drinks that suited us, was not chilled at all. So I asked for glasses with ice, but there was no ice in the cafe! The glasses were tiny and they otherwise only had disposable plastic cups which were quite inadequate. Not impressed and I’m surprised John Lewis allow them to be associated with JL. We won’t be back.

We were shopping in John Lewis and popped into Benungo’s for a coffee and cake. It was around lunchtime and the Cafe was very busy which is always a good sign. We had to wait on a table being cleared but the assistant cleaning the table was very efficient and helpful. There is a good choice of sandwiches and cakes with prices at the top end of the scale. We opted for a scone and jam and were charged 75p for a small jar of jam. The cafe has a nice setting on the the top floor and, whilst it is convenient if you are shopping in Buchanan Galleries, there are other nearby cafes which provide better value for money.

Absolutely pathetic excuse for 'customer service' staff very rude and unhelpful. My mother is clearly disabled and young blonde girl on till still couldn't bother to actually do her job and assist customers in a way that might be helpful. Girl with glasses and blonde ponytail was the worst. Absolute joke. Won't be back.

On a day trip to Glasgow fancied a quick drink. We weren’t aware of another cafe in John Lewis, but wish we had. Ordered two hot drinks, one oat milk latte which was barely warm and a pot of tea. The counter staff were quite miserable and a customer in front of me had ordered a toasted tea cake, when he complained because it was burnt he was told, “take it or leave it” The food on the counter looked dry and drab. Once I’d paid for the drinks I asked for milk (for the tea) to be told “get it yourself” I then had to rejoin the queue, and excuse myself to get to where the milk was. Eventually found a free table, but it hadn’t been cleared since last customer. Poor customer service.

Went to buy a bottle of water, café part still open, some customers in just served by different staff member, but I was told curtly "we're closed" and the back was turned on me. Went to see seethe Burrell collection in Pollok Park, Glasgow. I decided to try the soup at lunchtime - it comes with 2 pieces if sourdough bread. Today it was sort of spicy tomato. It was very nice. I have had the soup in here a few times and its always nice. Last time i came with my daughter she got a burger which as huge - she said it was delicious. Another good thing about this restaurant is that you can help yourself to fresh water if you don’t want a drink snd you can get alcohol. The soup cost £5 i think thats ok fir lovely home made soup.

I was shopping within the centre and choose to go to the cafe with John lewis.! I was standing in queue, (about 4/5 customers in front of me) and there was a female going along the queue asking which hot drinks you'd like.) Mine was just a latte, no food, but also wanted a cake !!! On closer inspection none of the cakes were covered, there was bread sitting on work top not covered, the silver units behind the counter at back wall were absolutely covered in dust, I'd decided I'd just have a tunnock tea cake ( at least it had a wrapper) then by the time I'd reached the till I was asked 4 times my hot drink again. If I'd not had my medication to take I'd have walked out. There was no atmosphere within the area, the latte was far to strong, tasted much better. All in all, it is needing a good clean.

Thee worst soup that we’ve ever had the misfortune to eat!! I do not believe this was made by someone with any kind of food/cookery certificate. Hard shredded carrot, and no discernible taste from the stock, was it even stock? Tasteless! Very little choice from the hot food counter, what they were offering looked unappetising, and tiny potions for the cost. Not able to get hot drinks on the hot food side, which meant waiting in another slow moving queue on the sandwich and cake section. Lots of members of staff floating around and not doing much. Unable to sit at lots of tables as they needed clearing away, tables were so filled up with discarded trays, that chairs were being used. Will never be back…probably get better service at Greggs cafe in the bus station!

Very disappointing. The selection available was poor. Do a better sandwich variety at a BP station. What we got was overpriced. I made do with a bag of crisps given there was little else and of course it was Mackies…the least flavourful crisps possible. The seating area is nice but maybe a bit out of sync with the snack/food offer. They seemed to have plenty of cakes and pastries if you fancied something like that and a cuppa and staff were efficiently keeping tables clean and clear. Can do better someplace else.

Coffee ok as was toasted baguette. One member of staff was pleasant however the others including the manager were ‘offhand’ and generally unpleasant in their attitude towards customers with many walking away and going elsewhere. John Lewis should be ashamed of supporting this concession.

Absolutely awful staff, and attitude. Coffee was OK, however despite me positioning my tray at the "collection point" the server still just put a tea and a coffee BESIDE the tray rather than on it. At that point, she promptly turned her back on me to talk to her pal. I was the only person at the counter, it wasn't busy, and they just couldn't be bothered. Despite the staff gossiping, it took me a while to find a clean seat to sit on. Most tables still had crumbs on them, and all the seats were dirty. And no teaspoon or stirrers either. Never again, and I hope this review is read by many people. Please go somewhere else.

Visited Benugo cafe within John Lewis Glasgow. What a disappointment from start to finish. The only saving grace was the scones, rather delicious. The staff members we happened to come across were far from friendly, there was no menu and were not sure what was available to eat as my mother diabetic. The younger girl with dark hair had a look on her face as if we were a hindrance to her (if she does not like working with public, please don't work in the retail/hospitality sector). The other girl had charged for tea even before we had fully ordered and was adamant that was all we were having before we had said, we also had to repeat our drinks request quite a few times before it was understood by this extremely disorganised girl. We paid for a latte and again had to repeat this twice, which was clearly not a latte, try Americano coffee. Once seated to enjoy our food, a rather rude younger man almost swept another customer's food detritus over our feet and was non-verbally communicating for us to hurry. As previously mentioned the scones were the only good experience of this cafe, this was the first time visiting this cafe and we will certainly not be returning. We unfortunately had to visit this cafe as the others within the galleries a bit too busy, but with this experience the other establishments have nothing to fear. Would not recommend to anyone at all, who has standards in customer service. A small tip teach the so-called baristas?? to recognise the difference between the types of coffee when a customer orders something different from an expresso.

Not usually one to moan … Tuesday the 12th April ; Came here with my daughter to meet up with friends for a coffee. Ordered bacon breakfast rolls each and hot drinks. Asked the serving staff kindly if she would be so kind to help my daughter cut her rolls in half she was rude and refused on the terms ‘ due to covid reasons ‘ once handed to customer unable to cut the rolls in half. Which I said but … you haven’t handed the rolls over to me when I asked. In which she shrug her shoulder, no apologies whereby she was happy to cut a bagel in half for the lady behind me. Other than that found the cafe to be nice, comfortable.

Totally disorganised shambles, bypassed and ignored by staff when trying to order, selection on offer is abysmal and don’t believe the images posted by the company. Shelves and counters empty, surly and uninterested staff not the quality of business you’d expected John Lewis to employ to run their coffee shop. If you want a decent coffee, cake and a smile go to any of the Starbucks nearby.

I decided to have a black coffee and small breakfast here big mistake. First of no cutlery to be seen anywhere not even a spoon to stir your coffee had to ask for this and no takeaway cutlery at all even when asked by others. Staff were miserable they looked like my breakfast which was at best Luke warm , the fried egg was burnt underneath and soild unpleasant to say the least, the bacon looked like it could have went out to pasture to eat again, I swapped the tomato for a potato scone however it was limp and cold no crispness about the sausage was cooked but Luke warm and the toast was bread with colour to be fair the beans were hot out of a microwave. This wee cafe use to be great however it is awful no care has gone into this food and it really wasn't tasty or nice good ingredients gone to waste by poor cooking or inadequate attention. Definitely give this place miss

Due to am emergency I was unable to be with my Mum on her 80th birthday. I thought sending a cake for her small party would mean I was taking part in some way. I didn't notice until after I had ordered that the cake needs to defrost for 6 hours. I immediately emailed and ask to switch to a next day delivery. I was relieved when this was confirmed. However the day before and no cake. My Mum will now have a cake that will arrive on the day of her party so cannot be eaten.
