The Cafe at TJ Hughes in Coventry

Terrible food.bad mannered manager needs to be tought people skills.if I could give it minus stars I would give minus five.will never go in again and I have noticed when I’ve passed the cafe it is almost empty

We like coming here but the teapots are like many more places ....cheap Chinese and don't pour just spill everywhere! For goodness sake buy some decent ones with a proper spout that pours!

Breakfast deal 5 items for £3.50. Old style department store cafe. Warm and cosy even offer baked beans as one item. Cash register operator Kate was ambivalent and "just" there. The manager gentleman was excellent and prepared to go out of his way.

Went to the chesterfield branch with my girls been a couple of time in December while Christmas shopping honestly can't believe how amazing the staff are the food is outstanding for the price myself and my two daughter s had a full breakfast and drinks for 14 pound s I asked the lady serving us how were there not heaving with people you can have a full roast dinner for 3 95 honesty more people need to go amazing food amazing service highly recommend it

Service was awful, food was dangerous! While breaking up a tuna mayo sandwich into pieces for my 20 month old niece to eat, which they had freshly made, I found a sharp shard of plastic in the filling. My 4 year old son had a ham sandwich and was later sick. Some of the hot food on display looked like it had been left sitting for hours and staff didn't have time of day for you as they were behaving like they were run ragged despite there only being us and one other customer waiting to be served. Will not be returning here again.

I stopped in here for coffee a few months back I had a slice of carrot cake and some fruit juice and it was very good, it offers a selection of meals from breakfast and lunch to the kind of snack that I had, would go there again

I visited with my son and a friend on Saturday, Coventry isn't a busy city but if you saw the state of the cafe it looked like it had recent had a stampede of custom. It wasn't overly busy yet tables were left piled with plates and remnants of food. My friend is disabled, it wasn't very accessible for her and we ended up at a corner table over looking lower precinct. We ordered chips and I had a bowl of soup. The soup was £3.20 and tasted like a packet. There were no chips ready so whilst I had my soup my son and friend just sat there. After 20 minutes I sent my son up for his chips, they gave him a small bowl with a few in. They forgot we had ordered another and I went up to remind them. Plenty of staff but I still had to go and collect our order quite a while after I had mine. Staff did not have any hair cover and it was left hanging loose. It's winter and cold yet one member of staff was wearing a vest with dirty underwear exposed. It reminded me of a typical 'greasy spoon' cafe without the price to reflect it. A basic sandwich is £3.00. My bill was £13.00 for soup, 2 bowls of chips, a cup of tea, a coffee. Maccy ds is much cheaper!!!

The choice is excellent. 20% off food after 12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Unfortunately poor selection of gluten free food, although the cafe manager/supervisor, Mike always tries to accommodate my requests, like cooking chips separately etc. The Big Bosses need to do more on this front. The staff are friendly making this my preferred coffee stop.

Enjoyed breakfast today, six items less than three pound.. Coffee not the best but prices reflect quality Very nice with friendly staff..

Lovely place, quick service, had a delicious tuna sandwich and a mushroom soup, daughter had a child happy meal, very nice highly recommended, will come visit again

The place was busy took my dad for his fish n chips. Food was cooked to order - nothing special but good value and very friendly staff. They were specially good and very patient with my elderly dad without making him feel awkward

My mum and I had a toasted sandwich avd a pot of tea each. The lady behind the counter was running about like a headless chicken. Trying to serve and be on the till at the same time. The toasties were tasty but the salad garnish was onion, lots and lots of onion and a tiny bit of lettuce hidden underneath it. I would have complained but it didn't seen fair on the lady behind the counter. More staff at busy times would be helpful. The Cafe is clean and the lady on the counter is very friendly and helpful.

Situated within TJ Hughes store this cafe is fairly small but is accessible by a lift, escalator or stairs. It offers meals and snacks throughout the day at reasonable prices. Choice of foods are good and the staff are so friendly and hardworking.

Needed a coffee after much shopping. Quite small but still nice coffee, friendly staff, comfortable chairs

TJ Hughes cafe is located within the store There is a lift which goes to the cafe which is a great help for people in wheel chairs or mums with push chairs there is also a escalator for people who want to view the other floors I found the staff in the café to be very friendly and went out of there way to help i also liked the way the staff gave me time to decide on what I wanted to eat I had a breakfast which was delicious and very filling and a cup of coffee

Today I ordered the fish & chips on offer. What I got was a horrible mess of chunks of partly raw fish, seemingly held together by awful undercooked batter. The chips were luke warm, which meant once I had eaten a few the rest had gone cold. I complained to the lady serving, who did offer to replace it or get me something else, but I couldn't face anything else after suffering that. I asked for a credit note instead, which she did provide me with. The rest of the food on offer looked fine, but of course, I can't vouch for the taste of it!

What a great place to eat. Away from all the hustle of the city and great food. Fantastic service and really great staff. I will highly recommend. Also great store with great offers and fantastic service. Really enjoyed shopping here and close to carpark for convenience. Brilliant
