Having only planned to stay for a drink, I ended up looking at the food options of cheese and / or meats boards. So glad I did! The ploughman’s was exceptionally reasonable price wise and was plentiful for one! So nice, tasty, and staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. I’m usually one to just have what is served but here you had the option of cheeses and meats, in additional to optional chutney. Spicey or normal cheese on offer too. Was a lovely day so pleased I got the opportunity to extend it to more than just one drink! Compliments to the chef and the girls behind the bar!

Living in the village we have seen the Rainbow go through quite a few changes over the years and really haven't stepped foot in it for the last 5 years.....but all that is changed I'm delighted to say. We had fish and chips there a few weeks ago and just couldn't believe how tasty, hot and gorgeous they were and judging by the tables nearby we weren't on our own! Even though staff were busy the service was a delight and nothing too much trouble. On Sunday we had lunch there. OMG! it really has to be one of the best in many a year. Fresh, perfectly cooked, well seasoned and generous portions have made me wonder what we have been missing since the new owners took over. We used to go to The Cross in Kenilworth for Sunday lunch and I can assure you this was equally as good if not better. So pleased that The Rainbow is once again back in the heart of the village as a superb place to eat and drink.

One of the most tasty, home cooked Sunday Roasts to be found in Coventry. All of the food, including home made cranberry sauce, was beautifully cooked and tasted amazing. Locally bought meats, friendly pub atmosphere and roaring log fires - couldn't fault it. We rebooked before leaving. Casual, family and dog friendly pub. Perfect for winter Sundays. Prices: Main roast £18-£20. Starters and puddings £6 approx. Vegan options and entire menu GF. Hats off to the new landlady Michelle who has completely turned the pub around over the last 12mths. We've just had the most wonderful meal at The Rainbow Inn in Allsley, near coventry. In all honesty this was one of the best roast dinners we've had (sorry mum!) and not only that, it was entirely gluten free.  My daughter is a coeliac and eating out becomes a stressful affair at times. Ive never felt so safe taking her to eat somewhere.  The marvellous chef, Chef Jon, is a credit to The Rainbow Inn and serves a fully gluten free Sunday menu complete with childrens options. Everything gluten free. My husband opted for gammon and said it was the nicest hed ever had. It melted in the mouth. The yorkshires were enormous, the apricot stuffing was a dream. I had roast beef and couldnt fault anything at all... and my dessert of profiteroles was delicious! They were actually like little tiny fresh donuts... and of course fully gluten free. We also sampled some of the home-made gluten free bread which was enjoyed by all. Not at all the crumbly shop-bought stuff.  Having seen the chef by chance on Instagram, i was aware of his first-hand insight into catering for coeliacs and the importance of cross contamination control. He went above and beyond to make us all, but certainly my daugther, feel super safe. He prepared a special pudding selection for her which i think she will remember for a long time. She had a little portion of all the pudding options and when i asked her which was her favourite - she simply said "all of them".  We will most definitely be returning to sample the friday night fish and chips menu which again is entirely gluten free.

What can I say, Michelle and her team were incredible hosts tonight for their first ever Friday Fish and Chip supper night. On arrival I was made to feel very welcome, the pub was warm and inviting and a newly decorated restaurant made me feel at home. A wonderful atmosphere lay within the pub and was bought to life by its friendly locals and busy/ lively well laid out restaurant. Tonight I had the large fresh haddock (which was cooked to perfection), the fish was beautifully white in a lite crisp batter, served with homemade chips, mushy peas and freshly made sour bread. The food was very well presented and served piping hot. All was washed down with a stunning pint of London pride. I will definitely return. Thanks to all !

Wonderful traditional pub. I first came here regularly in the 1980s when the boss brewed his own beer. Several changes since then. But good to now see three real ales on plus the usual lagers etc. Food menu is generally cold food only - but very good pork pies and cold meats and cheeses. Steep steps at entrance on main road and a small beer garden at rear down a side street. Definitely worth a visit when in the lovely village of Allesley. Bus stop close by X1 Bham - Coventry.

Well, that is, the same management as the Old Windmill in the centre of Coventry, so expect to see only good reviews in the future! Popped in mid way through a walk with the wife to find the real ales gone, instead it's become the cheap lager fest of a dozen pumps churning out the same tasteless nats pee... CAMRA don't bother. I was going to ask the bar tender what new management had taken over but as soon as we said there wasnt a beer for us she turned around hastily to carry on her conversation and ignoring my calls. Decided to drop into this pub on a sunny Sunday afternoon with a friend and our children whilst out on a bike ride. From out outside front seemed nice a little and periodic Villiage pub. Inside was looking rather run down, very little atmosphere. Waited at the bar whilst the barmaid finished her cigarette out back. Ordered some drinks consisting of lemon and limes, orange juice and lemonade and a glass of water. We did ask for a tomato juice to which the response from the barmaid was "was is that?". Not sure I have ever been to a pub, bar or restaurant where the bar staff do not know what tomato juice is, needless to say they didn't have any of this mystical drink either. We decided to go and sit in the beer garden as there was a kids playground. Sadly this was as neglected and rundown as the inside. Rotton tables, a uses fire barrell and a tree with a very large broken branch dangling down right over the tables and children's play area, a big health and safety risk if you ask me. A quick call to the tree surgeon and a good tidy up is definitely required. However this won't solve the smell coming from the mountain of rubbish and bin bags that sit just a few feet away around the overspilling bins. All in all, I don't see myself returning to this place, which is such a shame considering the amount of potential a building like this has.

So we ordered our food at 7 oclock at 7:45 I went up to the bar and asked where my food was they said there was a half an hour wait the lady told me it will be ready in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later I went to the bar and got a refund and left there was also a lady and a Gentleman complaining that their food had not come out they were the same as us they have been waiting a really long time I'm the place was empty there was no excuse why it had been that long to me it seems like they are more more concerned in deliveries than the people who are inside ordering I would not rate this place and I will not be going again

It's amazing how consistently this Costa store can get a drinks order wrong. The order only has to be shared to a colleague 1 metre away and yet, everytime, wrong milk, wrong size etc. You have to watch them like a hawk and they get frustrated when you point out they've used the wrong milk - like you're the one in the wrong! You just paid £4.90 for a coffee - you want what you asked and paid for! Staff with attitude.
