Found this place by chance on a day out to Buxton. What a lovely little place. The service was great and the food was lovely. It’s a quirky little place with a shop at the front, and where you eat is tucked away to the side and you’re surrounded by antiques for sale. The menu is quite limited, but plenty for a lunch stop. We both had homemade soups, two different flavours and both were lovely. The coffee was seriously good, and I tried a Buxton Pudding with homemade custard - yummy!!! Lovely music playing and the ladies who served us were really friendly, feels like a special little place. Highly recommended.

We were recommended by the nice people at Hargreaves to the Pudding Emporium as we wanted to get some coffee beans. The emporium is lovely with a wide range of products from puddings to homeware to cards. There’s also a nice area for coffee and cakes. It’s a gem of a shop, do visit when you’re in Buxton. Thank you Clare & Karen for your warm and brilliant service. So lovely to meet you both! 💕

Having seen the the Hairy Bikers visit to Buxton we were really excited to try a Buxton pudding and made a special trip. The location details on Trip Advisor are out of date so we tracked them to Hardwick Street via Facebook. Despite being advertised as open on a Tuesday afternoon at 3pm in March, they weren’t. Also no information as to when they’ll reopen. I hope it’s not anything serious that’s prevented the shop from opening. We left Buxton without a taste of your pudding:(.

I’m a pudding fiend and so suggested this place to my friends. We had a browse of the little shop section before sitting down for a drink. I had to sample a ‘Buxton Pudding with our Very Special Real Vanilla Custard’ too, which was a nice, crumbly treat. Quaint and quirky!

I was near the Crescent Visitor Experience when a gentleman told me about the puddings... I immediately went to have a look at the store... it's really quaint and the lady was very helpful. I purchased two Buxton puddings! They didn't take up much room in my luggage -and one I still haven't passed on as a gift. (I should probably taste the first one to see if I actually want to share... ha ha) After leaving this store I wandered off to look at a few things before looking for a cafe... I was about to commit to a cafe but my curiosity got the better of me and I went around the back of the Crescent and ... there it was ... another pudding shop. They, very much like the Tribbles on Star Trek, propagate. ( Kidding of course, I am rather sure you are safe to walk around the corner... there will not be a third store) However, the win for me with this second store is that it is a cafe. The staff were exceptional here and there was even a work experience person assisting. I had tea with cake and cheese. The lady superbly explained the cheeses to me and I was happy to try her suggestion. The tea was incredibly good. The cake was a wee bit dry but ohhh that local white cheese. oooooh la la. Yummy! They could have just given me a plate of it. Possibly not the most healthy of lunches, it will remain with me and I will be more open to eating white cheese in future.

While recently in Buxton we though where better to try the Buxton Pudding. We went to the cafe in the Emporium which was smaller than expected and quite cold. I ordered the soup and roll (roll made from scratch ) and my husband a sandwich in their signature bread. When the food arrived we were told the bread for the sandwich was just in normal white bread as they had run out of their own. We found this somewhat surprising as we were not told this when ordering, also my roll was nothing special seemed like a bought one.The shop had ben shut the day before so surely bread ordering should have been done and made for the days they are open. The soup was ok but the experience put us off trying the puddings we paid and left. Staff seemed like fill ins in the kitchen and not dressed for the job or certain of their role.

I've tried many different cakes from the emporium and they never disappoint. The coffee is equally good; both their locally roasted beans and the takeaway drinks on offer. Their shop is reasonably priced, and £7.99 for high quality bag of whole beans is very generous. They have friendly, attentive staff within an interesting historic building. I'll be back soon.

We ordered two toasties for lunch. I got the wrong filling in mine so sent it back (it had meat in it, I'm veggie). The waiter said he'd passed the order to kitchen correctly so who knows how the order got made up incorrectly. My husband got on with his food while I sat waiting for mine. Mine arrived after he'd finished. This was not quite the little lunch 'a deux' we'd planned. I was offered my meal at half price which was a bit cold comfort, I'd just would have liked to have received what I ordered the first time round. We were only people ordering at the time the mistake was made. All the other diners had received their meals. I probably won't go back to eat. The shop though has a wonderful collection of culinary treats.

I was on a stroll through Buxton on a wet and cold weekend afternoon and encountered this place – which showed much promise. Alas a promise unfulfilled. We ordered only hot drinks and puddings. Drinks; good, puddings dry – and cold lumpy custard. In what world are hot winter puddings sold with refrigerated custard. Price was a little steep, but could have been justified if the custard had at least taken a trip via the microwave. There is surely a reasonable expectation that custard would be hot – and if not tell your customers, Please. After all, it must have been hot once!

This looked great and descriptions on the menu sounded lovely, however sadly it did not live up to expectation at all, we were the only customers and waited ages for a very mediocre toastie that was hard and missing the bacon, this was brought afterwards, literally one piece!,Basically a egg, bacon and sausage toastie on very hard homemade bread for £7.95, however the small portion of homemade baked beans with it were nice, my flat white coffee was lukewarm at best, and was sent back, we waited in all about 20 -25 mins for our food, two nice staff on,no-one else in there, and then they forgot our orange juice, at least they deducted it from the bill. Even the homemade toasted teacake was disappointing, very dense, very hard and we left half of it, I so wanted this to be a nice experience, but there are so many other place to eat and drink in Buxton that are cheaper and a damn sight better, poor at best

My Mum is in a Nursing home in Buxton and my sister and I decided to take her out for a light snack. We had the cheese plate and the pate. Everything we had was at total delight and we were all thrilled. Coming from High Peak it was a nice surprise to see how much was locally sourced, and there was a really marvellous selection of local cheeses. The pate was reallt tasty. We also had some Buxton Pudding with the delightfully light locally produced custard. The staff were wonderfully helpful and and it was a pleasure to meet them. They were really friendly. I have a feeling we will be back quite alot.

An absolute point for the program of the visit to Buxton. Warm and nice atmosphere from the entrance. Excellent coffee, tea - a large selection. Homemade cakes - taste and form of the best quality.

Pouring with rain I admit we went into the first place that didn’t mind the wet dog, but what a find! They concentrate on puddings (they do savoury lunch items) and most of the breakfast items suit the sweet toothed amongst us, however we opted for the spinach and salmon which was simply amazing - spinach sautéed in butter topped with a generous amount of smoked salmon with a dollop of cream cheese on tops (just forget about the calories!) Delicious, a bit different from the normal bacon and eggs offering. Only suggestion is they have a veggie option with egg instead of salmon as my daughter would love it too. PS they also immediately offered water for the dog who was allowed inside, always a plus.

My family stopped here after taking the old tram tour as we had never tried Buxton pudding and the tour had given us discount cards for this cafe.

This place is new this year and is a welcome addition to the café scene in this attractive old town. It does lovely tea and coffee, and the home made scones are superb. There is also an interesting shop with a fine selection of local delicacies. There are tables inside and outside under cover. Highly recommended.

Well presented, delicious tasting, home produced tempting food. Even the butter is craft made. A little gem...

This is the real deal. Home made EVERYTHING. Attentive staff with a good sense of humour. They even make their own scones, daily... Seriously...you have to go to the Pudding Emporium. I can't comment on the Buxton Pudding, I was too full of ice cream.

What a lovely find. We had a family lunch here and it was so delicious we called back later for homemade scones and jam. Wonderful high quality ingredients and great care taken with presentation. I had the salmon with poached egg and my children were delighted with the generously proportioned smoky bacon pancake stack! It has a quirky interior and a great vibe. The owners are lovely and friendly. Completely agree with the other top reviews, this is a great little place. Get there before everyone else finds it too!!

Went with a friend just for coffee, but we decided on scones with jam and cream and a pot of tea! Beautiful scones. Efficient service and nice to chat with one of the owners. It was quite busy but we were served quickly.

We have visited here several times since the young couple who now run the Tasting Rooms (cafe side of the Emporium) took over preparing, cooking and serving food from a lovely new menu at the beginning of May. There's a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere with room to sit outside, ball in very pleasant surroundings. We stopped by just for a light lunch each time and have to say the sandwiches were fantastic and the scones were AMAZING with the lovely addition of different homemade jams each time we've been in. There is a lovely menu and a board with 'Today's Specials' on which all look rather inviting and very reasonably priced. If you haven't been already, why not? Go for lunch or an afternoon tea and enjoy!! :)

I attended Fosters after driving past and seeing plants outside. The young gentleman who served me was lovely and really went out of his way to help me. However 2 older women that work here were rude, obnoxious and I was made to feel very uncomfortable. I even tried to make conversation when paying but I was just ignored. Not how you expect to be treated this day in age

Food was lovely but despite booking five days previously we were put in an empty room at the back of the pub next to the kitchen and toilets. Constant stream of people going past our table to and from the bathrooms and staff going in and put of the kitchen I do not agree that my review was "mean spirited" I have eaten here several times and really enjoyed my visits and food. You have said the room we were sat in was full before and during our visit. Obviously I can't comment about before but when we arrived ours was the only table with a reserved sign on it and although the room did fill up it was people who were only drinking or presumably had not made a reservation. My impression was that this room was for late/non bookings and drinks which the reason I was disappointed. My complaint was not about your pub, which is lovely, but the room at the back of the pub which lacked atmosphere, and didn't even feel like we were in The Sun Inn.

Waited over an hour for food, when it eventually arrived it was over cooked and tasteless. Not a friendly atmosphere for a Country Pub.

Stopped here for one night before doing a 30 mile walk. Decided to head to Mam Tor for sunset... amazing fish and chips pre walk and made it back for the most amazing sticky toffee pudding to warm me up!

Visited The Kings Head on Sunday when visiting family in town. Food was great and arrived quickly. Jodie made really pleasant conversation and was extremely helpful. Our new go to when we visit Buxton now!
