Ordered 2 decaffeinated coffees. They hadn't any decaffeinated. Ordered 2 flat whites Eventually served 2 ordinary coffees. They were so strong you could have stripped paint with them. Charged £6 . We won't be visiting again

Called for lunch and sat waiting for 10 minutes for someone to come over to us. Given the breakfast menu (at 1-30pm) so asked for lunch menu. Waitress said that they were changing menu and done things may not available so thought they’d give us breakfast menu!! Waited another 15 minutes for order to be taken. I asked for ham and cheese sandwich but no ham. So we both had chicken and bacon sandwich. Ladies on next table asked what the prices were as there was nothing on menu. Waitress said she couldn’t tell her as the prices were all on the computer!! The sandwiches were actually very nice and served with crisps and lettuce. This is the only reason I gave two rating instead of one. We went to pay and were told it was £27 for two sandwiches and two coffees. We queried this and could not get a definitive answer as to the price of sandwiches or coffee. Eventually the manager charged us £22 as she “ gave us discount”. All in all terrible service and questionable pricing. Avoid.

Everything about our experience was amazing. The staff were lovely, friendly & professional. The afternoon tea & cocktails were lovely! We couldn’t manage all of the afternoon tea so the waitress kindly boxed up our leftovers. I can’t wait to return with friends for afternoon tea.

Our first venture into Market Drayton since moving and we spotted The ButterCross and thought we’d give it a try, and I’m so glad we did! The service was relaxed but still professional, we took our little dog in with us and they were very friendly and happy to have him too (And he was happy for his breakfast biscuit!). We ordered two veggie breakfasts with poached and scrambled egg - my partner has always said it’s a ‘risky move’ to order scrambled eggs while out but these had to be the best I’ve had! They were creamy and rich. The whole breakfast was lovely - don’t get me wrong I thought at first £10 for a veggie breakfast sounded a lot but it’s definitely worth every penny. You get your moneys worth and me and my partner were full afterwards! We got 2 vegan sausages, eggs, beans, 2 big hash-browns, mushrooms, tomatoes, and a slice of toast, and it was all cooked really well too. We were also intrigued by the wide variety of gins and alcohol behind the bar so we might have to visit again soon later on in the day! All in all, I would highly recommend The ButterCross, and will definitely be visiting again!

Although the afternoon tea was fine, it was a little disappointing that we didn't actually get what was advertised. I wasn't really able to say anything at the time as it was a gift and the person who got it was with me. It lacked atmosphere, there was no welcome from the staff, they just looked bored to be there and the kitchen was quite nosiy to. The sandwiches we got were not the prawn and crayfish or avacado sandwiches which are on your menu online, we got standard lunchbox sandwiches of cheddar cheese and tomato and tuna mayo and the raspberry lemon possets were also missing. If there is a change in menu this really should have been said at the time of booking (booked a few days in advance), when we were shown to our table or even when the food arrived (we had to ask what was in each). Unfortunately I won't be returning or recommending this bistro anytime soon. Also I did receive an email asking how my visit was, I replied with the above and am still waiting for a reply.

Disappointing birthday visit. My mum booked this last Friday (over a week in advance) face to face with a manager to make sure the afternoon tea would cover dietary requirements. When arrived we were sat on a table upstairs with a birthday balloon for her - nice touch. Once we ordered a tea and coffee. The afternoon tea arrived, or some version did anyways. What was meant to arrive was all gluten free all no meat and 1 no egg. However this was not what arrived. We received a gluten free plate of sandwiches including lots of egg then a stand of regular sandwiches including sausage rolls. Major error here so we sent this all back. 20 minutes later we received a plate piled up with all gluten free sandwiches, not presented remotely acceptably and not at all up to what the menu states. We again had to speak to a server (manager wasn’t there) and explain this is still not correct and we are unhappy due to this being a birthday meal out. We were then given complimentary Prosecco as an apology and waited a further 35 minutes for the correct food to arrive. Hugely disappointing in the chefs having no drive or passion to want to make this order correct. Credit to the waiting staff being as apologetic as they could be especially the supervisor who realised it wasn’t ok what we received at the start. Thankfully the food we got in the end was nice and was closer to what the menu stated however no substitute for the meat sausage roll or pork pie - we just got lots of sandwiches. Dessert selection good for gf vg and took them home due to being full off all the bread. Overall this was not a good visit and the hour of no food just drink was a complete waste of our time. I would not visit here again and would not recommend. Sticking to chains as quality control seems to be a lot better!

Our first visit and probably last. The service was best described as amateur. We were served by a lovely girl who clearly was doing her best but had received little or no training. The kitchen had not updated the staff on menu availability as one of our party ordered an item which was only revealed to be unavailable after some delay. The quantity of soup was overwhelming, whitebait and dressing tasteless. Main courses were brought before starter plates had been removed and just dumped on the table by a member of kitchen staff who made no attempt to remove starter dishes. One highlight was the the wine which was fresh and quaffable. Finally paying the bill was long winded, staff could not simply split the bill . Never come across such clumsiness using card machines. Just about summed up the lunch.

We visited The Buttercross Bistro on a whim whilst we had other errands to do. Booked a table and arrived at around 2pm. Upon arrival we were ushered in and sat at a dirty table. We ordered two flatbreads (fish and bbq chicken) and 2 diet cokes. The diet cokes were served with warm glasses. When the food finally arrived, over 40 minutes later our waiter, although lovely, commented “the head chef is taking the piss today”. Absolutely gobsmacked we set about eating our food. Both flatbreads were homemade, chewy in texture and burnt on the bottom. You can hide burnt marks but you can’t hide the burnt flavour. Inedible. The only part worthy of eating on their fish flatbread was the battered fish goujons. Prawns and squid were overcooked and chewy. Waited for the bill for over 15 minutes. Went to the bar. Told waiter about food, apologies were given but no deduction on the bill. Maybe it was an off day. But we wont be back any time soon to find out.

This is a delightful cafe-bistro in the centre of Market Drayton, adjacent to the town's Buttercross, a central meeting point for the market and other events. It is a calm, relaxed place with a menu of really good food made to order, quality coffee, and lovely home-made cakes - generous slices! The seating is nicely spaced and the wall to ceiling windows look out on to the Buttercross itself. (Private rooms are available for special occasions and it also has a popular cocktail bar). The staff are very welcoming. The food is freshly prepared and well presented and the coffee was exceptional, so the Buttercross Cafe will always be my first stop. As a local or as a visitor this is a very nice place to spend a little time, it will be a treat!

We had the pleasure of using the private dining room which was really delightful. It was perfect for 6 of us celebrating my wife’s 50th. Birthday. We had 5 course banquet which was put together by Jo - Head Chef. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the cocktails and the delightful starters before our main meals and lovely trio of sweets. The team were extremely attentive and saw to all our needs - special mention goes to Cam who was excellent throughout the night. I would wholly recommend the use of the private dining room at Buttercross for any special occasion. Thank you to the team at Buttercross.

A truely dreadful experience on Saturday. We have visited many times previously and the original staff were always attentive and caring. There seems to have been a change of team and the service is now way short of the pricing demanded by the business. Sort it out please

We headed to Dee Dee's firstly because it is situated within The Range store, where we happened to be browsing, and secondly, because it advertised that it was serving Costa Coffee. We were killing time, waiting for a relative to undergo a hospital appointment, but we waited a LONG time to be served. I actually began to time it on my watch, silly I know, but I was beginning to think that we would have to ditch our idea of a coffee and head back to the hospital. In the end, we waited a little over 18 minutes to be served. Yes, the coffee was Costa, but not served Barista style, more of the kind of machine one finds in a buffet breakfast at a hotel, select your drink, press the appropriate button and the machine dispenses the drink. The staff seemed to be rushed off their feet, with one young lady taking orders and delivering coffees and another, older and more experienced lady putting together the food orders. One felt for them, as they were clearly understaffed and rushed off their feet. Yet, being British, we all stood there and queued! Costa coffee is okay, not nearly as special as it would like to think, but we got what we paid for. The seating area was nicely laid out, sufficient space between tables, but it was all rather canteen, rather than a coffee / cafe /bistro experience. The management should really look at their staffing levels and help out the current members, who are doing their best.

A really good find close to the Park & Ride bus stop at the top of town. Service was welcoming and helpful (husband has some disability) which extended to our dog. A small breakfast for £6 (choose 3 items) was perfect as was the coffee. Lactose intolerance catered for without difficulty. We’ll be back.

Found by accident while out driving around the area. Popped in for a quick lunch about 2.30. Quits a few people in there. Burger and chips were nice. Coffee was good. Toilet was clean also. Would be a good destination if it wasn't pouring with rain as could sit outside.

not much occuring but the beer is nice and the staff pleasant. I was the only one in so not much atmosphere but chilled out. The young guy in glasses on the bar was lovely but didn't know much about the beer really
