What a lovely friendly pub. We had our lovely mums wake at the pub this week. From the moment we walked in to discuss what we would like, to the actual wake. Katy was so kind and caring, offering lots of support and love. Craig was brilliant at keeping in touch and checking what we would like doing on the day. The actual wake was everything we could have hoped for to give mum the send off she deserved. The food was amazing, lots of home made savoury buffet treats. cakes were a particular favourite for many. Craig couldn’t have been more attentive, nothing was to much trouble for him, he even managed to knock up a plate of food for my friend who is celiac. Katy and Riley sorted out the music and the bar. The whole afternoon from start to finish was such a great celebration of mums life. THANK YOU, KATY, CRAIG AND RILEY what an amazing team You are.

We had a lovely meal this afternoon at the Butchers Arms in Winterton. The food was all homemade and cooked to perfection. And very generous portions. The Chef Craig came and asked us if everything was okay. We will definitely be back again soon. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Four of us went for a meal last night, 2 of us having the salmon from the specials board, one the pie and the other sausage and mash. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our food, it arrived hot and with lovely fresh vegetables and was a generous portion. It was one of the best pub meals I've had in a while. The chef came to check everything was OK and the staff were friendly too. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend. Great asset to the town.

We stopped here just by chance for Sunday lunch. To be honest I wasn’t very hopeful. However, looks can be deceiving. We were welcomed by smiley bar staff. Seated at a table away from the TV and given menus. We chose Pork Sunday Roast and the homemade Steak pie. We were told that our dog could also have a Sunday lunch! The Steak pie, gravy and vegetables were fantastic. The pie crust being a particular favourite of my husband. So thank you. We wish everyone well in their new venture.

We called on Saturday, 4 of us after Winterton Open Gardens. The food was fab. Real home cooking. 2 of us had the lamb shank, 1 had the madrass hot curry and 1 had the quiche. All were homemade at the pub and the chef nipped out of the kitchen to check if everything was OK and warn that the curry had pieces of birds eye chilli which could be avoided for less heat. Hubby ate the lot inc the chillis and thoroughly enjoyed. Friendly and attentive service. Nice place, we will call again when anywhere near that area.

Visited in a group of four. We all had a lovely evening. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the chef came out and discussed food options with us - it was obvious he took pride in his food. And wow! The food was well presented, absolutely delicious, and very reasonably priced. Great pub, great food. Definitely worth a visit. Or two!

Stopped in for evening meal, no food even though clearly advertised, not the first time either so unreliable,. can't run a viable business like that.

A little disappointed really, service was really good, but the food average - ordered the chicken kebab which was just okay, not brilliant. But the most disappointing aspect was ordering our dessert, but as we were after 9pm the kitchen had closed. We were late diners, arrived at 8.15 but when we ordered our main we mention we would like a dessert so when we were faced ordering and told, sorry the kitchen is now closed, we were left very disappointed indeed - not good really as the staff should have really come to us, but didn't. Ho hum - we dined out the second evening, great meal locally, far superior food and service.

Booked with friends for Sunday breakfast 10.30 am. We arrived just after 10.30. We were the only customers - no problem as we had lots of catching up to do. Ordered drinks which arrived promptly and after a while our orders were taken for breakfast. Then we waited and waited and waited.... Probably about 11 30 after I'd chewed my elbow off the food arrived. It was ok. I had the scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Lovely but an extra egg to actually cover the (1) piece of sourdough would have been appreciated. So disappointing ... The place is so lovely and the decor absolutely amazing. We will definitely try evening as the reviews sound so good but very disappointed today

A busy place for golfers in a great location. Lots of parking in a spacious car park. Accessible for everyone. The club house is fantastic with food and drink available for those who want it, including friendly staff members. Fantastic views of the course from the club house. Looking forward to my next visit.

Popped in here on an ad-hoc detour to get something to eat & drink (5pm ish). Building looked like an old fashioned type of place and advertised food outside the front door. Parking in the old stable courtyard around the back. Tight bar, low ceilings but offered good ales. The chef spotted as and told us that if we wanted food, Stew and Dumplings were fresh and a special of the day. Very much a locals pub, bar flies were friendly, TV on with no sound (News) and best of all. NO MUSIC and could have a conversion without shouting over any noise. Grub was bang on (Stew, dumplings, mash and veg) and a massive portion. £8 quid. Mrs. had Scampi, a mountain of chips and a lorry load of peas which she said was really good. Also £8 quid. Great pub, great grub, well poured beer and nice welcome surroundings. Rough and ready, no frills good honest place.
