We stumbled (literally) into the Butchers Arms in Sheepscombe; an out-of-the-way pub in a lovely little village surrounded by glorious walking trails. It serves delicious, home-made-moreish food with friendly and attentive service. Stuart devoured their 'Pie of the Day' and said it was lip-smackingly fab. I almost inhaled their cheesy garlic bread with home-grown veg and salad it was soooo yummy. Not at all pretentious. A decent pub, serving decent food at decent prices.

Popped in for lunch after a long dog walk through the beautiful woods from Ebworth. We were the first customers of the day and were given a very warm welcome, they even had a doggy menu so we spoiled our dogs with a chicken and carrot dinner while I had the home made chorizo and pepper quiche with a very fresh salad and my friend had the huge pork and leek sausages and mash. Lots of lovely interesting customers came in so we had some friendly banter… A proper warm village pub with lots of interesting history. Left feeling very satisfied 😊

Once again another superb evening, again friendly helpful staff. The quiche salad and ploughman's were excellent and great value for money. Another thankyou must go to Jayne for showing us around Annie and showing how everything works, we will definitely be booking 2 nights or hopefully 3 for February 2025. An amazing addition to the Butchers Arms. Just keep doing what your all doing, we love coming from Swindon to our favourite country pub.

Looked for a pub to meet up with a family couple south of Cheltenham and found the Butchers Arms. It is a really nice location down small country lanes. Friendly staff and good pub grub. We had a pair of burgers and Scampis. Good portions and chunky chips. Average prices so all in all a good meal out.

We had booked a table to celebrate my son’s 17th birthday. My mum has recently had a stroke, so I wanted to book ahead. The staff were friendly, helpful and very accommodating, just as we have found on previous visits. My Mum had the sea bass from the specials and my son and I enjoyed Brie and Camembert baguettes with side salad and some cheesy chips. For dessert, we had Blackberry Creme Brûlées and also a raspberry sorbet. Everything was presented well, fresh and tasted delicious. We had a wonderful k afternoon all thanks to the staff, delicious food and the ambience of The Butchers Arms. Highly recommended by us.

Unpretentious, real pub in a beautiful location with quite a lot of seating inside and out. Good honest pub grub. I noticed there was some information on 6 circular walks you can do from the pub. It was reasonably busy early on a Tuesday evening; mostly locals and a good atmosphere and warm welcome/service.

As per the title, the most striking aspect was the incredibly warm welcome as we came in thru the front door. Considering a thriving and busy pub it was quite a surprise i.e. imagined stressed and flustered staff. But all was very good. This all continued with a great and friendly service. Wide range of specials on the board as well. Starters were wonderful and brought out at speed. Likewise, the main dishes all came out at the same time and with very little wait. Again, seemed impressive. The main dishes perhaps did not match the excellence of the starters but were massive. Everyone struggled to get thru it all (or failed). So great place capped off by some amazing service.

We arrived on a cold wet Monday night to a really friendly welcome, nicely lit pub with a log fire. Good variety of food on the menu and on their specials board too. Steak Ale and Horseradish pie was surrounded with proper shortcrust pastry (not just a puff pastry lid as lots of pubs offer), likewise with the leek, cheese & potato pie. Both were served with mashed potato, a separate jug of gravy, fresh carrots, broccoli and savoy cabbage - all perfectly cooked. Good value for money. We’re visiting the area, but are told that the outside seating catches the last of the evening sun, so I bet it’s a great place in the summer. Good selection of local beers. We would definitely recommend this pub.

We have been here often for drinks. The food looks great. Their website says evening food until 8pm on Fridays. I just tried to book a table for 8pm tomorrow (Friday) but it appears that’s the time “the chef goes home” so you actually need to be there earlier. Perfectly legitimate but a shame it’s not communicated better online.

Had a fantastic experience at Butchers Arms in Sheepscombe! Nestled in the heart of the village, we arrived to a bustling pub but were warmly welcomed. Despite being busy, they managed to squeeze us in between bookings, and it's dog-friendly! The beer selection, especially the Bristol Beer Factory IPA, was superb. My wife enjoyed a generous portion of fish and chips with fresh, perfectly cooked fish, while I savored a flavorsome lamb pie packed with meat. For dessert, we shared a delightful bread and butter pudding with generous lashings of Garvey. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive, creating a vibrant atmosphere. I came to the butchers Arms tonight and felt judged heavily by their rather rude landlady.. I left my dogs outside their establishment as they had both been running in the wet grass and stank.. its a warm evening..my dogs are out door dogs.. The landlady made me feel unwelcome and said I was irresponsible for leaving my dogs outside. I have to disagree..my dogs are outdoors dogs. I know my dogs.. and she was very rude.. I was really disappointed with her attitude.. and closed mind when it comes to different people with different life choices and ways of living. .I will not recommend the butchers Arms at all. sorry but she ruined it.. and I will continue to ruin it for her.. simples. customers in a small village location like that should be welcomed and the staff should be polite..you dont know where your customers come from and you really should not judge others!!

Friendly and welcoming village pub where the food is freshly cooked. Mark & Sharon are fantastic hosts who always make you feel like a local even if you don’t live in the village. I had the liver and onion gravy with all the trimmings, mushy...

We booked a table for a late Sunday dinner, We underestimated the length of time of our walk and the staff were so helpful in delaying our time slot and assuring us that provided we arrived before the kitchen closed, we would be served. We...

I'm sorry to say, that after reading great reviews and having high expectations of what to expect....the experience was a huge disappointment. 6 of us booked in for Sunday dinner at 2pm,which started well,to be honest....as we were given a choice of the main room or a table set up for 6,in a separate room. We opted for the separate room and took our seats accordingly. After awhile a man came through to take our drinks order and I went 1st....."a o% Guinness please" sorry we don't have that "but I do at my other pub" OK then "could I have an elderflower please" ...."sorry we don't have that" again was the reply OK...."could I have a lime & soda please"....."sorry can't do that due to the trigger on the mixer not working" was the reply. OK...."could I have a lager shandy please"....."sorry can't do that either came the now familiar reply! By this time,it was getting embarrassing in front of the other's waiting to order their drinks and exacerbated,on the point of dehydration....I ordered a tap water.....which along with a gin & flat tonic didn't have ice in. Then.....dinner arrived. I had ordered the 3 meat roast, pork, beef & chicken (£23.50) and my expectations were high....well sadly it wasn't to be. The 3 meat roast consisted of a slice of pork,a slice of beef and a chicken leg plonked on the top...how bizarre! The meal itself was only warm and not piping hot as I would have expected.....after the drinks fiasco,I didn't feel able to complain without drawing attention myself in front of the other members of our party at the table. Finally....the bill came and as well as charging us for £2 for a lime & soda which I couldn't have, an £18 plus service charge had been added to the bill. That was the final insult.....£18 service charge for what exactly?? No drinks of choice and a luke warm meal. I wanted to dispute the service charge but again....I didn't want to draw attention to myself and possibly put my other party members in an embarrassing situation. I would like it refunded to be honest, as another issue I encountered while there....no soap in the soap dispenser despite visiting the toilet at the start of our meal and then again an hour or so later after the meal. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't eat there again or recommend to others to do so either......maybe it was "just a bad day at the office" for the pub on the day of our visit, but then the service shouldn't have been added automatically,if all of the above had been taken in to consideration.

Last time visited “ small Americana “ was 1.95. Then 2.10. Today……2.60. No reason despite costs…..to elevate to this price… There are unfortunately not a lot of “ good coffee shops in Dursley” could do with “Costa” or Coffee1 “ Wake up call……for these stupid prices…..if you want to “ stay open” I’d review all your prices/ ….or you soon will be “ gone” No one wants to fell “ conned” last visit for me!!

Stayed at the Frocester George and ate in the dining room whilst walking the Cotswolds way. My room was lovely- room 12, relatively recently done I think with everything you could want. Spacious room, organic tea and coffee, small fridge with fresh milk in it (yay!!!!) lovely bathroom. The meal was delicious, and the breakfast great, including a wonderful selection of fresh fruit. Would happily return for another stay if I am in the area.
