Another Sunday lunch visit to the Butchers and this time solo but no worry. Warm and friendly welcome as ever, great lunchtime atmosphere. Delicious pigeon breast salad with pancetta, chicory and elderflower. Following the game theme with roast duck, Anna potatoes, morello cherry and blackberry. All going swimmingly with a fine bottle of Chateauneuf Domaine de la Solitude (appropriate!). Rounded off with chocolate cremeux, Griottine cherries and cocoa tuile. Always love a bit if chocolate soil. Great way to welcome autumn.

Easy to park though it is slightly difficult to find as it is in the countryside. Welcomed on arrival and taken to table . Nice ambience. Ordered wine whilst looking at menu. A limited selection but as everything is cooked fresh in the kitchen it is understandable. Starters :- Eel very enjoyable especially as it is something rarely on menus and Salmon again excellent. Main :- Cod and mussels cooked beautifully with flavoursome sauce ( spoon provided) and duck cooked to my wife's satisfaction. Dessert :- Apple and blackberry crumble good quality and Bombe Alaska , strangely it was the first time my wife has had this dessert but she will definitely have it again as she was very happy. Nice bottle of Merlot. It is a family run business and it shows as everyone is welcoming , cheerful and efficient. One point I would like to make is that the present owners took over the business in 2018 so ignore any reviews prior to that date.

Beautiful food and gorgeous atmosphere. We celebrated my partners birthday here in August. The pub is a little tricky to find and we drove past it once without realising. However once you arrive you can see why the place is popular. Very rustic/rural/‘Cotswolds’ classic feel. The staff were super lovely and welcoming. The food was cooked to perfection and really tasty. Yes it’s a little on the pricier side for mains, but you can truly tell the quality is there in all of the ingredients (we paid £135 for 2 people - 2 drinks to start, 2 mains, 3 glasses of wine and 2 desserts)

Visited Pom Saturday evening as an anniversary treat. What a great choice. The pub was beautiful inside and out . After a cheerful welcome from staff and locals having a pint, we had a drink sitting in the garden enjoying the late afternoon sunshine then back inside. The food was high quality and beautifully put together - flavours and presentation. All in all a lovely evening, great location, lovely welcome with quality food and wine. One of our best anniversary choices

I went for my birthday, while staying at the nearby Corse Lawn Hotel. The food was very good, but the menu was quite limited - 4 starters & 4 mains - and our preferred option (the duck) was not available. It's also pretty expensive, considering that it's "just a pub" and not really fine dining, and quite hard to find; we drove past the first time, distracted by a vehicle coming the other way on what is a very narrow road.

First class pub/restaurant. We first visited some 3 years ago and were very impressed. Back in Gloucestershire this month we paid a return visit and were delighted to find it still exceeding expectations. Wonderful steak tartare for starters and beef main courses, good beers, excellent wine list, excellent friendly service and nice ambience.

I would like to thank Mark and Jo for their recent hospitality. I took my ten year old daughter after a recent separation from her mum and we were made to feel so welcome. We stayed in their cottage on site which was a home from home. The ambiance as soon as you walk in is second to none. You are greeted like old friends. The food was sensational. A must when in this part of the world, or even if you are not, book and stay and experience the best. Blown away and I have had the luxury of eating in some Michelin Star restaurants and let me tell you, this is up there! Thank you.

A really lovely looking pub in this beautiful village with the exterior lit up for Christmas. The restaurant was busy and the service was excellent. The food was lovely; some lovely inventive dishes with local ingredients, on a small but adequate list of menu options. Meat and fish were both excellent and beautifully cooked, apart from a very tough sirloin steak which was difficult to cut from the off (!) and then noticed it had a rather large tendon running through it. Unfortunate really, but having had to pay £32 for this means I won’t return. Everything else was really lovely. Many reviews on here seem to refer to this pub as having a Michelin star. It’s worth noting that this is not the case and that the pub appears in the Michelin Guide. Two very different things.

Returned for the first time in almost 10 years. Similar experience as before. Beautiful location, lovely old building, excellent food. Seriously very good. For us the night felt rushed a bit , no time between courses, uncomfortable due to the seating arrangement, down light in our face; and a special night for us came to an end as we decided to head home early. Food excellent. Meat cook perfectly pink and delicious accompanying veg. Very talented chef. Just, for us, the atmosphere/experience of the night again didn't amount to a romantic/cosy night.

Dinner and an overnight stay in the cottage at The Butcher's Arms were the perfect prelude before a day at nearby Hartpury's International Horse Trials last weekend. The food was delicious and well on the way to achieving another Michelin Star. This is a 'proper' pub with seriously good restaurant food - in a delightful, old building that oozes character. The cottage is thoughtfully decorated and provided a very comfortable night's sleep - and only 1 minutes' walk from the restaurant!

We have just returned from 2 nights staying at this delightful pub in the Malvern/Cotswold borders. Such a warm welcome awaited us and our little, one bedroom cottage was snug, well appointed with a very comfy bed. Bread, milk, tea, fresh coffee, pain au chocolate and cereal were stashed in the cupboards and fridge plus other extras such as butter, juice and jams. We had dinner both nights in the pub itself and the food was totally delicious all served by friendly staff who were knowledgeable about the local area which was handy. We will just have to return as only scratched the surface of all the places to visit, thank you Butchers Arms, we’ll be back😀

This was our second time at the Butchers arms, we went for late lunch Xmas eve and the atmosphere was lovely. The staff had remembered we had two fish eaters in the group and had ensured there were two choices of starters. Staff are chatty and attentive and work hard to make the meal special. My cod was lovely, my husband had the steak and enjoyed it but felt the choice of serving it with sprouts and gravy a bit odd. Considering the amazing presentation last time of the venison ( carved) we were surprised that it was just served as a whole steak, it just didn’t feel as special but none the less tasted good. Lovely puddings, great moonshine, only slightly marred by an extremely drunk lady bizarrely joining our table with her dog just as we were trying to leave, the lady at the bar was aware though and did ask if we wanted her to be asked to leave, I thought she handled it very well. We will definitely be going again

Was visiting a college nearby with our daughter and decided to have lunch before heading back around there so was reasonably random choice by what was nearby. The place is very small and looks very traditional inside for country pub. The menu is also not large at all which looks rather good than bad. The quality, complexity and presentation of food is of quality you get in a very high end restaurant. I specifically like to mention the venison steak tartar - that was really amazing. My daughter had short ribs of beef that were full of flavors and not a typical main you can get in a restaurant. The wine list is of good quality and reasonably priced. I always take a selection of cheeses if available and the freshness was of very high standard there. If we are to be around again we would definitely return.

Came here today for my brothers birthday lunch. Someone sniffed a Michelin star chef or something....anyway the pub is super quaint. I mean there's a car park with gravel so you don't get your Gabor boots muddy &;the toilets are outside so maybe chilly in winter? But otherwise this place is to die for. I wish I could wrap it up & drop it the other side of the Malvern Hills in Cradley! When you walk in its full of locals quaffing ales at the bar, hops decorating the beams & a log fire...You also get Gille...the French erm whatever he was....super ironic, v funny 'I can make you that' who totally enhanced our lunch. I did try to wind him up with 'I'm vegan' but he batted me out of the park. I mean this isn't the place if yob are. I have a vegan daughter & we wisely left her at home working on her dissertation.. anyway....service was on point. (As you would expect I wise French hands) Nothing was too much trouble. My sister in law & I fancied moyitos....The menu was small but fantastic. We ate Bambi & monk fish. The mackerel was still breathing. I'd say the chef likes it fresh. The wine was 10/10. My only warning would be if you have a vegan/veggie in your party give the chef advance warning or leave them at home with your dogs!

Lovely venue, the menu was limited my wife likes vegetarian food when choice is limited, sadly none on menu, but after asking if available as an option one was offered! We guys only fancied the steak, ordered rare and medium rare sadly left on grill too long and wasn’t easy to cut even with the steak knife! very limited on vegetables just a roasted carrot a small amount of purée and the steak topped with water cress, only a red wine jus lacking flavour and large bowl of frozen chips when paying £31 a nice Stilton or pepper sauce would have been nice and hand cut chips. The cheese board was surprisingly limited just a small selection of nice cheeses just 2 oatcakes accompanied the cheese most places give way too much cheese just enough was given, we believe that some crackers were needed and butter as my friend struggled as everything was just too dry with just the oatcakes Considering the limited menu we believe more could be offered for the price charged . We had been recommended by friends as their new place to go, but we were disappointed as our meal for 4 came to over £150 with just 1 ale and water drinks. Sorry for the neutral feedback I did see one other feedback from last December with the same concerns with the steak.

Scotch eggs superlative, venison to die for, sea bream succulent. With regard to puddings it is difficult to choose which one to enjoy. All food is presented beautifully with portions which do not overwhelm you or so small that you end up leaving hungry which has happened to us recently in a Worcestershire supposedly high class restaurant. We visited with our 1 year old baby on holiday and were a little nervous about the sheer quality of the restaurant combined with a sometimes difficult baby...And I have to say, it was an astoundingly pleasant experience all round. The pub itself is in a lovely, scenic, rural setting amidst rolling hills and dense forests. I could dwell on how fantastic the food was but you’ll be able to see that from the other reviews and the pictures; what I will say is, I have eaten at many 2star restaurants and this was in the top 5 meals I’ve ever eaten I would say. Sublime cheffing with hearty portions to boot. Extremely good value. What really made this experience 10/10 for us was how accommodating, Nay, welcoming the manager and service was to our baby. As if he was one of their own! Despite not having a children’s menu they went out of their way to make him a special cod, mash and carrots and were so sympathetic to our needs. The food was prompt, fresh, perfect. The pub is a pub lovers dream, all wood fires and clad in oak. Picturesque with charm and style. The complications of the first Church services and first days of restaurant opening after lockdown had led me to fiddle around with times but the team were terribly accommodating and we found ourselves greeted on the path to the front door and guided first to a lovely outdoor table for drinks, thence inside with great timing skills, into a beautiful separate dining room which pre pandemonium would probably have done ten but was sumptuous, airy and spacious for four, all of whom proceeded to eat mightily well. Fabulous flavoursome faggots, Moist cod and succulent tasty steak. Parkin and Gooseberry Fool, two of my favourite puddings, left me with a pleasant dilemma!Excellent service. Friendly and natural. This very traditional and unassuming pub might not look much from the outside, or wow when you walk in, but when it comes to the food they really do impress! Quality ingredients well presented and extremely well cooked was a winning recipe for us: We had the burrata and salt cod scotch egg to start and the fillet beef and venison for mains- all highly recommended. Book to avoid disappointment as tables are limited.

Stunning meal!We went as a family of four to celebrate birthdays and had the most fantastic meal! The pub itself is full of old world charm and quirky features. We received the warmest of welcomes from the owner and the service throughout the evening was very attentive. The food was so tasty! Really fresh and beautifully seasoned. It looked just beautiful on the plate. We couldn’t resist doing all three courses and can highly recommend the Parkin cake! We staggered in to the night with fully bellies and big smiles. We will be back!

I finally booked my husband's bday meal here after wanting to visit for a long time. Everything was perfect from the ample parking, the warm welcome on arrival, the food was exceptional and the service first class. It really did not disappoint and we can't wait to visit again. Thank you also for finding and looking after my phone until I could collect it!

Fantastic experience. Lovely manner on the phone when booking. We had to call on our way to say we were running late because of road works and they were very understanding. I mentioned it was a special occasion and they decorated the table with little Happy birthday glitter and put a candle in the cake for dessert which was a lovely touch. Food was fantastic. I had the steak which melted in my mouth and husband had the fish. He said he hadn't had such beautiful fish in such a long time. Portions were very generous. We both struggled to finish. We of course had to leave room for dessert, panna cotta with rhubarb was divine.

My family and I visited this pub to celebrate a birthday. Jo was really helpful with providing suitable food for a 2 year old and certainly delivered on the food front, including a gluten intolerant member of our group. Superb service and quality of food. Would highly recommend.

The owner, Jo, is so friendly and welcoming. It was like arriving at a friends house for lunch. The decor is tasteful, traditional and cosy. It sets just the right mood for the delicious food that awaits you. The Sea Bass with mussels and mash was mouth-wateringly good and the sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream was the perfect end to a fabulous meal.Highly recommended.

Food was nice and generous portion I had to share mine with hubby but we absolutely enjoyed it. The young girl at the reception was very friendly to us, made us feel comfortable. The toilet is outside the restaurant though but everything else was nice, the wine was good. Overall we were happy.

Had lunch here last Saturday and couldn’t fault it. Amazing friendly professional staff. Everything we ate was beautifully presented and delicious. Not an enormous menu which I much prefer using local produce. Wonderful old pub setting with a cosy wood burning stove. Even the locals having a beer at the bar were so friendly. Surely on its way to getting its star back?

We ate here last night as we were stopping over in Tewkesbury on our way to Portsmouth. It was a truly lovely pub. Nice atmosphere- no loud music playing - just really cosy and SO friendly. We were allowed to take our dog in to the bar area where they served our meals. The pub provided free homemade bread which was absolutely amazing! Our main meals - I had the steak and my husband had the pork chop and they were both truly beautiful tasty meals - just beautiful and freshly cooked. The venue is lovely, the staff couldn’t be more helpful ! If only more pubs served such tasty freshly cooked meals! 10 out of 10! Well done the Butchers Arms! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our evening!

I am diabetic and totally sugar intolerant, and I avoid refined carbs. I am fully used to restaurants catering for every food allergy ,or lifestyle choice, apart from diabetes. Most decent restaurants with competent chefs are able to make minor adjustments to the dishes on offer so that I can enjoy my choice. I explained this to the waitress and the first course went well as an item containing sugar was omitted. It was agreed the main course would be served without potatoes. When the main arrived I found a dish included that could only be described as vegetables in syrup. The waitress and chef appeared to have forgotten the no sugar request made at the beginning of the meal. My companions described their meals as competent but lacking a wow factor. All in all a disappointing evening. It is unlikely we will return. Diabetes is the UK's 4th biggest killer. It is time the hospitality industry woke up to the fact

An amazing Sunday lunch at this lovely local pub. Visited with friends and 3 of us chose the roast beef. It is the best beef I've eaten. My friend, who is a vegetarian, had the Sunday roast but substituted the meat for cauliflower cheese...which she loved. I would highly recommend this lovely place for a warm and friendly Sunday lunch.

After having a lovely roast at the kings head we sat in their garden having a drink. Really unprofessionally the manager came over from the star inn and asked us to join them because ‘the drinks are cheaper’ Maybe but the live music is awful and your pub is empty - we now know why. So rude. Really unprofessional and an awful attitude to have towards another local business Absolutely no business coming from our large group who would have happily spent money behind the bar.

We always eat at the Grovewood when we stay at the spa as, besides being so convenient, it is such a lovely experience. We have been several times over the last few years, but this was a particularly nice meal. We also had breakfast here the next morning. I apologise that I can't remember the staff's names but they were all really lovely, one was very funny, and they really made our stay.
