Unfortunately not a good experience with the Hamburger meat over cooked and in parts burnt with warm turning to hard chips. The tuna melt baguette was also uninspiring with the chips also warm and hard.

Ok country pub good value on food welcomes dogs

Mixed grill meat was very fatty and a chicken breast that was just cut in half looks ridiculous Not enough mushrooms, onion rings tough and slimy Sausage with the sausage and mash very disappointing

9 of us dined here and it was excellent - speedy service, delicious food, and a surprise cake for my mum's birthday. Our waitress Jo was lovely. We can't fault it and will be back.

My daughter and I came in on the off chance of a light bite and some warmth.. we were greeted by the manager, Gemma/Jemma. She had an amazing smile, great vibe and was able to seat us next to the radiators and whacked the heating back on. Staff were attentive and lovely. Great family friendly pub, reasonably priced food and a very warming atmosphere 😉🥰

Great food, genuinely dog-friendly staff, beautiful location and views and perfect after exploring the adjacent country park. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch with our black Labrador who was sitting comfortably beneath our table and was given a refreshing bowl of water to drink. Would definitely recommend!

Easy to order using the online facility. Food was served quickly and was hot and tasty. Would have liked a coffee to finish but declined the instant coffee offered in place of a latte due to the coffee machine not working.

Visited this pub today looking forward to a nice meal and a drink in the sunshine. However neither happened as we could not bring ourselves to listen to Christmas music and staff dressed in Christmas costumes in SEPTEMBER! I love Christmas but this is just ridiculous. We definitely won’t be back’

Food and drinks are overpriced. This is just another chain pub like Wetherspoons, Green King, Marsden, Hungry Horse, etc, with the same type of menu but higher priced. Sirloin steak was half gristle, chips were overcooked, and steak and ale pies were all ale, no steak. The plates were so hot that the base of the mash and the pies were welded to the plate. It was like having a skin on the mash. No chef needed here. Maybe that's the way all pubs seem to be going, which is okay, as long as the prices match the quality of the food. This pub definitely doesn't.

Utterly unpleasant food, dirty carpet and tables

Service with a smile would be a good start! Made to feel like an inconvenience. We all had steak, and apart from 1, they were all burnt! We asked for medium rare and medium. The peas hadn't even been warmed up never mind cooked! The tomato was nice though! Has the chef given up and checked out? This was without doubt the worst meal we've ever paid for! This place has the potential to be outstanding but the staff and chef completely let it down.

Food came out way too quick. Starters are super small and expensive for what you get. Maine came out within a few minutes after finishing our starters which is a red flag. It came out boiling hot like it’s been blasted in a microwave then served. The burger is small. Fits in palm of hand and have a few sad fries. They ran out of garlic bread so they offered to replace it with chips or chips and salad. I asked for just chips and got a salad which I was charged for. Plus the salad was dead and you have big chunks of onion with the root at the bottom. Very disappointing. Had a chocolate cake asked for it warm and it came cold and dry. They also ran out of one pudding as well. It wasn’t even 6pm and they’ve ran out of a few items when the place had only a few people. Wouldn’t bother coming here again. Recommend going to splinters in Arnold instead. Their food is much better quality and it comes correctly and have the food items in.

Amazing pub to eat, drink, walk the dogs, with family or friends. Food is delicious & staff are very welcoming and helpful.

I actually love coming here, the service, the people, I can’t fault it, but the ultimate spicy burger needs a lot of work, there was very little topping on it, it felt like it was rushed. I had like 2 jalapeños, a few crispy onions which were soggy, very little maple sauce that’s I couldn’t taste. Just be generous with your topping and take more pride in your food because other that that it was delicious.

Well the staff here are amazing everyone we met and spoke to nothing was too much trouble we booked a table for 16 ( sadly only 14 came) our food order was taken no fuss paid for individual parties but all food came out together and hot and tasty We brought our own cake ( sons birthday) again no problem staff gave us plates and cutlery even a lighter to light candles Amy was the only name I got and she was super polite but I must say ALL the team where kind polite and smiling Thank you💕

Called in for a quick drink ( no food ) in the sunshine, live fairly local and have visited the park/pub in past years when I kids were younger - ( I actually worked on the pub extension years back when it was under Mansfield Brewery owner, first time back in years. Still nice to sit out in the beer garden. Cricket pitch doesn't look used today , remember it had a fence around it and a small pavilion. Great place to bring your children loads of space. Only negative was the state of the outside benches/tables/ seating- very dirty, needs a regular clean up in external areas

Lovely place to come with the dog, overlooking the scenic country park! Food is lovely especially the salted chilli chicken kebab! And they do breakfast aswell which is well worth the money!

Lovely food and very dog friendly

Went with my son to have breakfast. The beans were not fresh-deff from the previous day, our shoes were sticking to the floor and the tables were the same. A large group of people came inside the pub with their dogs- some were stinking so bad that it was making your stomach turn. Don’t get me wrong, is fine to have dogs in a pub, but not everywhere and when you do allow pets then the cleaning needs to be thorough on a daily basis. Love the park but will not return to the pub.

Not been here for fair few years . And won’t be coming back . Food was cold I had the salt and pepper chicken kebab it was drowned in garlic sauce . The chicken had never seen any salt or pepper . Cold chips my daughter had the tai curry with chicken , well when he brought the chicken out separate we all laughed was the smallest tasteless piece of chicken we ever seen . Burgers are ok though . Was thankful we had 30 % off or I would have asked for refund . It’s such a shame as it’s in a lovely location . Also don’t want to see grab machines around the bar . It looks tacky .

My partner and I regularly walk our dog around the grounds at the Burnt stump and call in for a drink outside. We decided to have a meal, and booked a table for 6.30pm. The pub was fairly busy but the pub felt airy and plenty of tables. We both ate our main courses my partner had a burger and I had the vegetarian chilli both of which were good sizes and tasty. When it came to dessert, my partner had crumble and custard which was adequate and apparently really good. I chose the trifle cheese cake and although it was really good, the size of the portion was very poor, I paid £5.99 for 3 mouthfuls of dessert, I felt totally robbed, needless to say maybe choose a starter and forget the dessert if you fancy 2 courses!!!! Our only other bug bear was the upholstery on the chairs needs cleaning or replacing and outside could do with a good tidy up.

We went for a family meal, and while there, we spoke to the manager about a baby shower for our daughter. She was amazing in helping us sort out a booking for it, really helpful and gave plenty of info but without being pushy. The food was good and the service was fast with friendly staff.

Came here today for the first time in a while. Great grounds and comfortable however the food wasn’t. It was cold and not worth the prices as it’s much dearer here than other places. We had a hunters chicken which was dry and cold needed more love. And the cowboy burger was ok but not much flavour. I upgraded to sweet potato fries which came cold and undercooked. I think the food here lets it down and it’s a shame as everything else is great.

After waiting over 10 minutes at the door to be seated with our reserved table, we seated ourselves in the end. Multiple staff members made eye contact with us stood there and never said a word. 4 out of the 5 things we wanted to order they didn’t have, even essential things like chips😂 Food was average and clearly microwave oven heated (that part we expected) Not bad as we used a discount coupon but would never go again & pay full price for that experience. Oh & the floor around our table stank of urine. ❤️

We've been to celebrate a birthday and pre-cooked the table, the pub is dog friendly. Atmosphere was lovely in the pub and service was friendly and quick. Food was hot and delicious and all 5 meals were eaten in full, (3 meals were the Thursday steak and drink offer). Enjoyed the atmosphere so much we stayed for dessert. Thanks we will be back.

I drove from Doncaster all the way there as meals and service is normally good. There was only 1 person on the bar. Even tho he worked in a timely manner the waiting was not good fo me as I have a chronic back condition that does not allow me to stand for too long. The food was not great. Poorly presented, full of grease and poor quality meat. Chips were overcooked and stuck together. Not one person asked if everything was ok, they just cleared the table. I have visited this pub for years but the quality of food and service was very poor yesterday. I took a friend who had not visited before so I was quite disappointed being it was my recommendation. I will not be back in a hurry

We love outdoors dining and food was amazing

The staff were very welcoming and helpful when we arrived. The bar staff were very efficient and served us quickly. The food was brought to our table by a very nice polite lady called Joe. The food was served hot and very well presented we will definitely recommend the Burntstump to our friends.

The cowboy burger and the fries were amazing, the service was very professional and quick, the waitress (jo) was very friendly, curtious and was incredibly busy, the place started to get very busy but she was amazing running around bringing people their food, and clearing away pots, throughly deserving of high praise

The gluten free burger was lovely. Slightly charred and very tasty. Our server Jo was friendly and never stopped rushing about all evening. Unfortunately there were some hyper children running about and it was loud at times so I've only give 3 for atmosphere.

Our Waitress, Jo, was running around like the proverbial house fly. She was working so hard to serve everyone in a very busy restaurant single handed. Food was up to the same good standard as always. Atmosphere was spoiled by screaming kids running around the restaurant

Well what can I say? We were welcomed with a smile, asked if we were wanting to eat or just having a drink. We were informed that the kitchen, wasn't going to be operational for about half an hour due to some maintenance. We were happy with this so ordered some drinks and also ordered our food, ready for when the kitchen opened. The food duly arrived, and was really good, a blue steak perfectly cooked. The service was fantastic. The manageress/landlady was really friendly and helpful, all the staff had smiles, and were attentive to our requirements. We will be back with our two furry friends, which we have found out will be very welcome. Thanks Shell and Andy

Typical menu options ok. Let down by feeling a bit shabby. Table surfaces are tired and need some TLC.

Not too bad but over priced for quality of food. Full on mold growing in ladies toilets right below hand drier. Defo wont be rushing back.

The actual location and pub itself is great, so beautiful to sit out in the sun and super dog friendly. However, the food is absolutely terrible, we ordered two roast chicken dinners, the chicken was bone dry and tasted like it had been cooked the day before. The gravy was so watery and tasted only of rosemary, gross. The veg was old but actually cooked well, not overcooked which was a shock considering the rest of the dinner, it was freezing mind. We asked for horseradish and they brought us tartare sauce and which we put on our plates not knowing. Asked for thicker gravy, they brought out the same one. Honestly the worst roast dinner I’ve ever had, was flabbergasted they didn’t offer us a refund based on the tartare sauce incident. Mashed potatoes were lumpy tasteless and as cold as frosty the snowman. If you want a pint and nothing more with nice views this is your place, the food though, my dogs wouldn’t even eat.

The food was lovely, but was disappointed there wasn't table service or a check back.
