First visit. All staff very friendly and welcoming. Nice busy pub with a pleasant atmosphere. Had the Sunday carvery which didn't disappoint. Good choice of turkey, beef and gammon with a varied choice of vegetables. Following a perfect Sunday lunch we will be returning again. Recommend booking well in advance to avoid disappointment.

We stopped on the off chance and was most welcomed on a Friday lunchtime. Very friendly lady took our orders which were promptly delivered by an equally friendly young girl. I had a Brie, bacon & onion relish bap served with lovely crispy fries. Partner had Turkey & ham bap. Absolutely lovely. Finished by coffees. We wouldn’t hesitate to return if in the area again.

Family of 7 adults for our Sons 21st Birthday celebration. Not too busy so was seated quickly. Drink served in a timely fashion, apart from 1 drink being a pint when a half pint was asked for. We all decided to opt for the calvary, our cards where given to us then we proceeded to the calvary. First stop Yorkshire puddings, very flat, stuffing balls, very dry, Beef dry, Turkey not too bad, Gammon too salty and dry. Vegetables very disappointed mixed with sauces, peas like dried bullets, Roast potatoes a leather like skin which was not very nice. So all in all it was not the most enjoyable meal, maybe they just need some lessons in cooking food and making it look presentable to eat. Sorry Bunbury Arms you really need to sharpen up your act. I will not be returning anytime soon

Visited for breakfast - not great !!! Very young staff walking around but didn’t really have a clue about service and serving people in general !! Plates for breakfast buffet were stone cold so that when you put your food on by the time you returned to your table it too was cold !!! Lots of people had to wait while breakfast items were replenished and I heard the chef telling one lady he was doing the best he could - she simply asked for some more eggs to be added !!!! I had to ask twice for tea and the toasters took ages to actually toast a slice of bread !!! It wasn’t that busy but there only seemed to be a few staff around but it was a bit chaotic !!! Seems like a good idea but needs more staff who are trained and enough food for everyone !!!

Why does trip advisor say this place is closed? It re-opened in September 2023. My self, wife and our dog were made very welcome yesterday (Tuesday 26 March 2024) when we turned up well after 2pm having been stuck in traffic on the A14 for over two hours. I thoroughly enjoyed my salmon omelette and would rate this as the best one I have ever eaten. I am a retired person so I have had a few in my lifetime. The place and staff are lovely and welcoming.

Went for a Mother’s Day meal - decor lovely inside. We went for carvery and the beef was incredible, cooked perfectly! The cauliflower cheese was delicious. A small gripe - all the waiting staff (all young girls) didn’t seem to overly know what they were doing or on the ball with serving, maintaining and looking after the tables they served which did ruin it. Ross, the manager however was great. Always seen to be helping out and friendly!

Had not been here before and knew it had been closed for some time but wanted to try it out. Service on entry was quick polite and efficient explaining the days special. Drinks were delivered to our table. Both ordered the home made turkey and vegetable pie. Food arrived fairly quickly and a nice large wedge of pie was on the plate with mash and gravy. A side order was part of the dish and included cauli, broccoli and carrots. Both thoroughly enjoyed the meal and said do to the waiting staff. Tables and area was clean and tidy and male toilet also clean. Will definitely be returning. Reasonable price.

Met with friends. Carvery was fabulous. The service was excellent. No pressure on us to leave but as soon as we did they closed the doors... THAT ALONE shows this place is one to visit again! Externally it all looks good, the decor is nice, comfy chairs , good lighting but they could have lit the fire on one of the coldest days of the year. But the food was average at best. I ordered the sea bass fillet on potato rosti and spinach. The whole thing was very small but the piece of fish, though well cooked and flavoured, was the size of a fish finger. Costing nearly £19 I felt this was not on and made a complaint. Grudgingly, the manager did not charge for this dish but strangely admitted he thought the fish was rather small when the chef was cooking it. Wouldn’t a good manager have said something to the chef ? or did they think I would be fooled? Not once did the manager actually apologise. My companion had a very mediocre steak pie: adequate and at least not a tiny portion. Won’t bother with this lacklustre place again.

Went for a family pre Christmas meal together. Carvery food was good, only complaint was that we were advised that you had to rebook pigs in blankets and crackers. So many people had lunch and only two large tables seemed to have them. If I had known I would have brought my own crackers. Also as it was December I would have thought xmas pudding would have been on the menu. Perhaps that had to be pre ordered? Such a shame. Seems to be penny pinching at a festive time.

Arrived at the time for our table reservation to find that the car park was jammed full only one space available and more cars pouring in. Queues from the entrance door to the bar some 8/10 deep.Staff very nice and once inside shown by a very nice lady who took our order for meals and one of our party went to the bar but was intervened by a staff member who took his order and brought the drinks to our table. Now to the meal.we all had carvery and it did look very nice although the beef was very very rare. We opted for the beef and Turkey and obviously had the choice of vegetables. The beef we discovered was very bitty and full of sinew so we left that and as to the vegetables they were very hard. We appreciate when serving veg it is always difficult to get them right for everyone but the word aldente didn’t come into it.The carrots sprout and especially the cream leeks were still in an almost raw state. The tables have been jammed so close that it’s difficult to get up or down once seated and that’s why the problem is there with the car park.it cannot cope with the bookings being taken. It’s a shame and will give it another go later on but it needs improvement.

I will be the first person to admit that I can be a bit fussy about food sometimes and I often eat out ,having cheap ,mid range and expensive pub/ restaurant meals but this visit to The Bunbury Arms in Great Barton was a really good experience .There were 4 of us having a carvery there ,a bargain £10 on Thursdays ,a really friendly greeting when we arrived ,it didn't take long for us to receive our drinks order and went up for the carvery, the chef gave us good portions of meat (choice of Beef , Pork and Turkey ),huge puddings and a decent selection of Potatoes/ vegetables ,I've been to many carveries over the years and often ,the potatoes and veg are not hot enough but no problem here ,we all enjoyed the food ,meat was tender ,potatoes and veg had a nice flavour and the gravy was tasty too.A lovely ambience in the pub restaurant and all the young female staff were lovely ,a special mention must go to MADDIE who gave us a great/friendly service with a smile so thanks to her ,I also had a chat with the Manager at the end who was so appreciative of my praise, hence me leaving the BA a glowing review ,I wish them continued success with these new owners, think they've been there about 6/7 weeks ,i will be going back there again ,my girlfriend and friends will as well, thanks for a lovely evening ,Keith

Was glad to see this pub had re-opened as always love a carvery. We booked a table for 6:30 and the place was already full. Our table for 2 was unfortunately placed in and around the main walkway so that waiting staff and other customers walk closely by you with their food and/or drinks. Never a great experience. Our waitress brought our drinks over quickly and we then queued for the carvery. By our turn there was hardly any beef left (wasn't interested in turkey or pork) and what was there was full of fat but the Chef explained another piece was coming soon so if we were happy to wait a couple of minutes he would then call us over which he did. The meat we then had was delicious with plenty of it as well as the vegetables. We were so full we couldn't consider dessert but we will do another time :-) I am surprised by some of the negative comments on here regarding the food but I suppose each to their own. We will definitely be visiting there again very soon.

First time since the reopen. What’s with the outdoor garden benching inside??? Also the vanilla air purifier that you can literally taste?? Also the cold, soulless area of sofas not at all warmed and made cozy by the unlit fire on an autumn day?? Sad that you seem to be happy to be a glorified carvery outlet rather than a country pub. Will be a while before we return.

Enjoyed my first visit to the Bunbury Arms as part of a family Birthday celebration. The venue was chosen largely as it was roughly equal distance to all who attended, although we all live over an hour away. There was 15 of us in the...

Popped in for a light lunch. Dubious as I haven’t been here for several months because of past bad experiences. Under new management thought I would try again. Great welcome, and we were soon seated and drinks order taken. 2 of us had the minute...

Fantastic Sunday Roast. Good sized portions and good quality food. Staff very friendly and welcoming to our party of six and two dogs. We were sat in the garden as dogs not allowed inside but lovely area.

Pathetically limited menu - no salads and no steaks - not even gammon steak. The meat from the carvery was insipid and bland. I had the tikka masala as there was literally nothing else I wanted, and if it had not been such a special...

With another couple we had Sunday lunch. The staff were very friendly. We were seated at a social distance, but were able to converse without disturbing other diners. The food could have been a bit warmer and roast potatoes browner. But I’m just nit picking...

Visited the Bunbury to take advantage of their Monday night offer. The staff were very friendly and Covid 19 precautions in place. The meal was certainly plentiful, slightly lacking in quality but still massive value for money. Only downside was that I thought that the...

Had soup, carvery and cheesecake for dinner. All was very nice however the service was terrible! Waited a long time between courses for our plates to be cleared, there wasn't a staffing issue, several times staff walked past and basically just ignored us. Vegetables were...

The roast was delicious with lots of vegetables available despite them unable to do their carvary at the moment. Sanitiser on arrival and efficient social distanced service. Well done 👍🏼

We had a takeaway beef roast dinner & a sweet and Sour chicken. The roast... I’ve never had something more disgusting! Beef was horrible tasting, chewy, fatty. The potatoes weren’t cooked just like the veg, still crunchy and raw! Even the gravy looked and tasted...

Food review on hold until kitchen open, but this is a traditional Grade II listed English pub - sorry, does mean watch your head. See the pubs in Midsomer Murders, with real atmosphere and genuine locals enjoying excellent hand-pumped Brakspears ales. New young and enthusiastic tenants bring sparkle to the establishment.

Went for our annual work Christmas Dinner. Given a welcome drink of prosecco or elderflower, as the non-alcoholic option on arrival. The elderflower was scarcely present, unfortunately there was little difference between it and lukewarm water. Seemed to take an age to be taken through to the dinning hall, despite apparently needing to be at the venue for 6.30. There was no option to open a bar tab - at the bar which had no coke, no lime cordial, no white tequila, only one white wine - so it was complete chaos trying to organise buying the drinks! Eventually taken through to a very nicely laid out dinning hall and seated. Those who wanted another drink before our meal had to go back upstairs, after finding me to come and pay for it. Very inconvenient. The meal started to come out after 8pm - everyone was really hungry. The starter choice was a fig tart, or prawn cocktail. The prawn cocktail was absolutely miniscule - 3 prawns in a little sauce on a little lettuce leaf, it's a good job there was a small bread roll at each place setting! A good 30 minutes after rhe starter had been cleared the main came out - turkey (which was cooked nicely) 3 tiny new potatoes (no roast potatoes) a couple of sprouts, carrots and parsnips, with gravy. A very very disappointing 'turkey roast' without roast potatoes or stuffing. Dessert was either Christmas pudding or raspberry and lemon trifle, which consisted of 3 squares of soggy jellied sponge, some green dots and a spot of custard covered with a squirt of cream. In no way did it resemble a trifle. Even getting a tea or coffee was not possible until the station was 'opened' thought there was no indication whatsoever that it was closed until 9.30! When a member of staff was asked we were told that the doors are closed and nobody should be out there trying to get hot drinks until it was announced as open. All in all a very disappointing meal served by mainly surly servers. The evening lacked any kind of Christmas feel about it from start to finish. Won't be going back or recommending

Was given a £50.00 token for my birthday. Booked and went today. Dressed smartly. Parked in car park which was full of puddles and ended up entering the hotel with muddy boots and trousers. Felt embarrassed but needn't have worried. Receptionist was busy on the phone so found our own way to restaurant. We both ordered beef. Literally couldn't cut it, the potatoes were also tough (reheated?). The waitress asked us if everything was ok and I pointed out the beef and potatoes. She offered us a steak knife which we took. I gave up with my beef and potatoes my husband valiantly carried on. The puddings were good. The hotel had the vibe of a hostel, the clientele wondering around in jeans, wellies and trainers, lots of children running around (I was told later on that this was a family hotel), we had people with stocking feet, wellies and dressing gowns in the restaurant. The staff were great but the food was not. When we received the bill we saw a discount of £6.00 on it, I asked what this was for and apparently this was supposed to cover the meal I couldn't eat.

Very rude landlord not at all sympathetic to an autistic young adult whom had never been in a pub before wasn’t sure what he was doing, was told to leave as he didn’t speak to the landlord on entry and didn’t order a drink straight away he was finding his bearings as being autistic was in a very unfirmiliar atmosphere
