We had a really good Sunday lunch here. The food was superb - perfect veg and tender meat. The landlord and his staff are really friendly. A great place to eat after a walk around the local reservoirs.

Excellent pub with great character, got some of the ale the had on tap, which was off. Brought this to the attention of the landlord and it was no problem he was off to change the barrel and pull through two good pints, exactly what you want to happen in that situation. The chips we got were also excellent. An ideal pub to go to on the way from Manchester to the Peak District.

So glad we found this awesome pub. We stopped for lunch after checking Google Maps to see what was in the area, and the Bull's head was a great find. The staff were brilliant, the food was delicious and the building itself was fantastic. It was easy to imagine sitting there next to the fire 100 years ago with not much changed (in a good way). There are interesting things to look at everywhere. Definitely stop by if you're in the area.

Myself and a friend accidentally stumbled across this pub this afternoon after walking in Crowden. It reminded me of Steptoe's Yard with all the ornaments, but in a really endearing way. Such a cosy and friendly place. The staff were all fantastic and so welcoming. I had homemade broccoli and Stilton soup which was piping hot. My friend had chickpea curry which she said was fantastic, and I had steak pudding, with chips, peas and an amazing gravy. We cannot wait to visit again. Thank you

Entering this pub is such a time warp as it is the quintessential traditional pub - it's great. Hidden in the back streets of Tintwhistle, it is an unassuming building, slightly shabby, but certainly worth a visit. When walking into this pub it is clear you are visiting an something very different; the ambience was nice & relaxed, the staff were lovely & friendly, but it is the layout and interior furniture that takes you back in time. It is gorgeous to see such eccentricity in a time of bland corporate chains. This is clearly an independent pub that has apparently stood for 500 years or more (so we were told). The food was good - several vegan options were available, which is great. Can't wait to visit again.

This is a great pub with great owners. Mick has made us (as newbies to Tintwistle) very welcome and Jane's cooking is brilliant. This place has everything you'd want from your local pub - log fires, good chat, great food and drink and good music (unless the wrong person takes control 😉). It's also used by local groups like a yoga group, walkers and traditional musicians, not at the same time but I'd pay to see that. Long live places like this. I can only imagine that the one person to post a 1 star review was having a bad life at the time. If you like sterile, soulless corporate watering holes, go elsewhere. Keep up the great work.

I called a few weeks ago to book a Sunday lunch for a group of four, my wife is celiac and I spoke to the landlord on the phone and he was so friendly and helpful, he said his wife cooks everything from scratch as knows everything that goes into the food which was very reassuring. We arrived for our lunch and this quirky friendly local pub did not disappoint, we were welcomed with a warm friendly atmosphere, all the staff were great especially the landlord whom was full of friendly banter and was very funny. After a hike across the Peak District, we were hoping to find a great roast dinner locally but somewhere new to our friends; unfortunately, the place we recommended and opted for this time was just average. We all felt the service was average; staff were lacking interest in general and when we were asking questions about the specials, they seemed unbothered. We all agreed it was overpriced for what we got too, which was a shame. One tiny carrot, 2 small roast potatoes, cold leeks and cabbage and a watery gravy. The beef was quite nice and the mash was well seasoned. I have been here before for drinks and snacks which we previously enjoyed but on this occasion, we left disappointed.

one of the worst b&b’s I’ve stayed in. we were in the bed & breakfast for a weekend. the breakfast was nice enough, but the rooms were absolutely filthy. towels and sheets were stained and covered in hair, crockery was dirty & the bathroom floor was covered in hair. there’s no WiFi, even though they listed it on their booking. and the staff were a little too nonchalant and very unwilling to help. on top of this, the pub neglects to mention they put on live music on a Saturday night until 12am which you can hear directly through the walls. and there’s a rooster that lives next door that woke us up at 5am on both mornings.

Called in for Sunday roast on way home to Manchester what a result made welcome as soon as we walked in, was seated at table and not rushed to order the service was impeccable even I would say perfect, as for the roast it was so tender you didn't have to cut it, it fell apart veg cooked perfectly and priced very reasonably I've paid twice as much for half as tasty. Well done the cock a lesson to other pubs and restaurants. Will I be back, your to right I will.

We had room 7 for a night, it’s a little apartment, which is lovely and perfectly positioned. For those looking for en-suite facilities the loo is the other end of the apartment. More lighting is required at the back (before the gate) The bedroom is a lovely size and plenty blankets etc for extra warmth just felt a bigger bed would be nice as the room can take it. Guessing it’s small / standard double.
