Absolutely fantastic stay at this pub. We ate here both days too the food was fantastic as far as to say probably the best roast I’ve had in years !. Great location for all our walks, parking available. The rooms were tastefully done , so much so we have booked again. The staff were very friendly and this makes a huge difference to the feel of the place.

Overall experience 2, due to strong fish smell when walking in. Toilets were not clean. We sat at empty table but there were glasses on the table left from previous customers. They were not cleaned during whole stay of ours.we have ordered salmon in tyriaki sauce and pasta. Meal felt like a soup. Salmon and pasta was drowning in sauce. Too strong taste of a sauce ruined the dish.

Visited for an evening meal after looking online for pubs that had a reasonable vegetarian choice. It’s a nice looking pub, very tidy. However the first vegetarian item we ordered wasn’t available so ordered a different one. 10 minutes later someone approached us and said the second choice wasn’t available. We got a refund and left.

**New review as my previous (below mentioned was 7 years old)** Dislike the new decor massively, such a shame. Was an amazing pub before but now it feels cheap and 'orrible. Bar staff seemed less than interested about being there and the prices for a pint felt too high. Quality village pub with a really great team of staff, house cat, excellent food and a really good selection of beers. Loads of space and great eating outdoors when the weather's nice!! It has a small car park too which is handy to avoid the nearby chargeable spot.

Walked in, tried to make polite conversation with the fella setting the tables by saying “bet you’ve been busy today”. He replied with “don’t like being reminded we’ve been busy”. Thought they’d like the custom. We left without ordering anything and visited Olde Cheshire Cheese which had a lot better attitude.

Everything was fine. We had an enjoyable stay from 24.2.25 to 25.2.25. Although we were surprised that we were allocated a twin room (Room 4) it was smartly decorated and comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Negatives on our stay were based on our numerous previous day visit experiences to The Bulls Head. The bar/restaurant was often chilly. The food menu had become more generic and less adventurous than we remembered it from past visits. The cask beer quality was generally unimpressive and mediocre throughout our four night's stay. I love Robinsons Unicorn bitter and it was one of the reasons I chose The Bulls Head for my stay. Sadly, the usually excellent Unicorn disappointed. I was surprised that this was the case. My last Robinsons Unicorn was three months ago in the excellent 'Mulberry' in Conwy Marina where the Robinsons cask beer was like nectar from the Gods!

Stopped off for some lunch on the way back from Mam Tor. I'm glad we did as the food was amazing. I had a huge fish and chips, and my gf had the cheese burger and loaded chips. The fish was very tasty with crispy batter, and the chunky chips were crispy on the outside but light and fluffy on the inside. The meal nearly beat me, and apart from feeling like I needed a sleep afterwards, it was a superb meal. If we are back in the area, we'll be sure to stop by.

Not very cosy inside now after the refurbishment. It looks like any other chain pub inside and the new food menu (new since the last time I went about a year ago) is also very generic and americanised. It doesn't offer the traditional British pub grub that I liked about this pub. Now it's fried chicken and waffles with grey furniture as opposed to the old menu with a nice pie, roaring fire and the oak timber seating. The lady on the bar today was also very rude. I don't think I'll go back again. Sad to see it lose its way.

Some food in our group was OK but some not. One hunters chicken was really really dry. The vegan duck had very little rice and the chicken and rice was dry and needed something else. It’s not as good as it was before the change of ownership. There did used to be a specials board and that’s gone and almost all meals have chips which leaves little choice for those that don’t want chips . The knives and fork are placed handle down so you have to grab the bit you eat with to pass to a friend The waitress delivered 2 meals but all in the basket was 1 knife and 1 fork. I did shout at her to come back but she ignored me. We had no napkins and couldn’t find them. The food in weatherspoons is better and you should aspire to be better than them

Great location, lovely refurb shame about the service. Staff to me would sooner be having a chin wag or on their phones. Plus don't call if you fancy a coffee before the drive home. Must be the 5th time now and everytime I've asked, the machine is off. Plus called in the other day at around 6pm to eat and they'd stopped serving food! Maybe stop serving at a set time but I cant see anywhere, where it gives you the food serving times. Not bad to say in the reviews, they keep saying they try to set their standards high. The place was run much better before the refurb. I'm guessing possibly new ownership but not sure. Anyway I won't be going back. Top tip. Try another pub👍🏼

Venturing inside we donned the overshoes to protect their lovely oak floors and entered the lovely bar and seating area. We ordered various real ales and stout between us and they were excellent. We all had a main course, Pie&mash, ham, egg n chips and 2x waffle and southern fried chicken. They were served with good time, freshly cooked and piping hot. All very tasty. The rooms are lovely, the location is brilliant and everything was exactly what we were after. The only disappointment was the breakfast experience. The fact that the breakfast was not a sit down but a take away, the only hot option was a reheated prepacked sausage or bacon cob. My partner’s food was close to inedible, steak in the pie was chewy, the broccoli was almost impossible to cut through it was so hard. The parsnips were burnt and the chips were cold. My chilli tasted like yesterday’s reheated in a microwave. Within 20 mins of leaving to drive home I was experiencing sore stomach and my partner was starting to feel nauseous. By the time we arrived home an hour later my partner was experiencing sickness and diarrhea and ended up in bed for the rest of the night. Called in initially for a pint after a walk in the local area and then decided to eat here after all. Food was a little disappointing. Seemed like everything apart from the battered fish came directly from the freezer. Wasn’t particularly hot either. The chilli beef on chips was absolutely swimming in sweet chilli sauce, I think a pot on the side for dipping would have been much better. The selection of drinks from the bar was reasonable. Unfortunately the staff serving behind the bar didn’t appear to be very friendly and certainly didn’t want to smile. I would have understood slightly had the pub and beer garden been busy but it wasn’t. I asked for a glass for my bottled drink and plenty of ice but it appears Ice was being rationed. The inside for dining is very pretty in the restaurant area. The beer garden is located alongside the car park but it is good for catching some sunshine.

There is nothing more unwelcoming than a member of staff looking at you and then looking at their watch as soon as you walk in. Then when having your drink have them walk past and eyeball you. Worst of all I’m presuming this was the manager with grey in his hair, chequered shirt and shorts. If you don’t want customers in the pub for the last hour of trade I suggest changing your opening hours to closing at 9pm. Location great, service was good too. Quality of good was good, but not fantastic. Pie was good, but everything that came with it, just average. Still a nice pub though.

What a wonderful tea room. Sofia has been an absolute pleasure to deal with when arranging our baby shower in the private function room. If you are wanting to make a celebration extra special, I can't recommend this establishment enough.

Had a lovely catch-up with a friend we all had a lovely meal Lasagne and steak and ale pie all well presented and all was yummy... and rum and raisin ice cream, which was lovely too. The service was great, and the atmosphere was very good with back ground music 🙂🙂🙂 Three very happy customers
