one of the worst b&b’s I’ve stayed in. we were in the bed & breakfast for a weekend. the breakfast was nice enough, but the rooms were absolutely filthy. towels and sheets were stained and covered in hair, crockery was dirty & the bathroom floor was covered in hair. there’s no WiFi, even though they listed it on their booking. and the staff were a little too nonchalant and very unwilling to help. on top of this, the pub neglects to mention they put on live music on a Saturday night until 12am which you can hear directly through the walls. and there’s a rooster that lives next door that woke us up at 5am on both mornings.

I had absolutely no idea pub food could be this good. The mac and cheese was absolutely incredible. The garlic bread was unlike anything I'd ever had as well. A clearly talented chef is running the show here. If I came here again and the price of the food had doubled, I would be fine with that.

Lovely village. A nice enough traditional pub, with hosts that try to make you feel welcome. The food was good, although if I'd have stayed much longer I think I'd have a heart attack! My son loved it though. It's all fair priced, the only thing that could be better is the bathroom. The shower is tiny, and the water 💦 pressure pitiful!! A pretty small twin room but it's perfectly ok for a short stay. All in all not bad. We'd like to thank the guys for our stay 👌

The pub is located centrally and is pleasant to view. Indoors, it's a traditional pub with a several screens if sports events were on. Service was friendly and brisk. We stayed overnight and the accommodation was OK and very reasonably priced for the area. Breakfast was a bit haphazard and I wished I had not had the cooked breakfast as it was far too greasy for my stomach. I felt for the couple running it because they would have been up late the night before and up early this morning. Still, we were greeted in a friendly manner and made to feel welcome.

I had the roast pork. The two slices of pork was chewy. The mash potato was wonderful, plenty of vegetables. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings was not nice. Tasted like Aunt Bessie's tbh. Won't be recommending it.

This landlady and bar man really went out their way to accommodate us last night at very short notice and late- we were on our way back from Manchester Airport when Baslow became impassable- no local hotels had rooms and despite turning back and travelling 15 miles we found the Roebuck!! Our room was so comfy and spotless and we had a much needed good nights rest? The bed and pillows were so comfortable and as very late they pointed us in direction of Piza place for food? We can’t thank them enough!!!! A truly lovely pub with amazing people and great bed n breakfast ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We stayed at the Roebuck Inn bed and breakfast. The room was really nice, with a separate bathroom (with shower) it was clean and comfy and there were little extras like an alarm clock and a hairdryer. Nice and quiet too. We ate at the inn in the evening and though it wasn't a huge menu, the food we had was really nice and also reasonably priced. Staff welcoming and helpful.

We stayed here on our first night away. There is no parking at the premises but we managed to get a space on the street (1800-0900). We received a very friendly welcome and were shown quickly to our room. The room was compact but looked clean. There were plenty of sockets for charging our various devices, and a hairdryer was provided (did not state this on the website so had brought my own). We had a drink and a meal here and in my opinion the food was average. Personally I found the bed to be very uncomfortable and the duvet too thick for the summer months, so did not sleep well. I tried to have a quiet shower very early the following morning, but the noise when I switched it on must have woken the whole of the town! The toilet seat was also a bit dodgy and moved whenever I sat on it. Toiletries were provided but the towels were quite small. Breakfast was very good but the lad who served us was a bit nonplussed when we asked for more coffee, but at least it was filter coffee and not instant. All in all a reasonable stay for the money

Warm welcome in the pub and taken to my room which is in a separate entrance in a passageway at the the side. Room was surprisingly modern in terms of the bathroom taps, everything worked. Had a good nights sleep and I would recommend it. This a good place to stop off if you are here on business, breaking up a longer journey or wish to see the surrounding countryside and caves. Good choice and reasonably priced breakfast the next morning. Friendly people and well maintained premises. At the time of my visit the inn was not serving food in the evening but in the little square and in town there are plenty of places you can eat or have takeaways. Parking can be a bit tight, but I had no problems. Pools cavern is very close if anyone wants to see that.

A very warm, friendly and welcoming public house, that serves a multitude of various alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. Accommodating for all the family and regulars alike, it also serves, from what the menu shows, a large choice of different meals, from pub snacks to full courses, although unfortunately, I was too late to have gotten the chance to try any. This was the only place in the area that we could find a vacancy even 3 months in advance. It was 50% of the cost many places in the area and so we were not expecting much - and in duly delivered - very little. To summarise, Externally the Roebuck presents well, a pleasant looking centuries old Inn in a good position in the small market square at the top of the main street. Once over the threshold though the ambience it is dark, dismal and unloved. We were shown too two ground floor rooms down an alley way by the side of the pub. They were small, grubby and un- loved with dirty tiny bathrooms. The only saving grace being that the bed linen was clean. They were indeed horribly rooms overlooking a parking area and very noisy until 2am. The bar was full of rowdy, loud and aggressively drunk mob with both men and women loudly shouting obscenities across the sizable room. My wife and I found the quietest corner and were frankly frightened until we were joined by our somewhat younger 6’3’ 20 stone travelling companion. To be fair we had unfortunately chosen an evening where the football world cup was being shown and this was presumably why the large loutish mob had assembled. There is a dining room but it is not used and a breakfast, of sorts is the only food served and that in a bar reeking of stale beer. If circumstances make it necessary to stay here go elsewhere for breakfast as ours was frankly horrible or better if possible stay somewhere else.

A few whiskies with a friend one evening, decided on solely due to overcrowding at the nearby Old Cell. Fairly standard as far as pubs go - just a tad drab in some respects, and a lingering atmosphere of a 'drinking' pub, rather than a more wholesome, family place. Fairly priced drinks and congenial bar staff, and the place was very clean. Good for a 'flying' pint.

Walking north from Miller's Dale I was delighted to find this pub on a very busy main road. When out walking such a pub with a loo and just somewhere to sit down and have a drink and look at the map such as this is worth its weight in gold. The barmaid however couldn't work out why I was walking when I could have easily taken the bus. I think she misses the point of walking, but at least she was friendly to a passing stranger. After a hike across the Peak District, we were hoping to find a great roast dinner locally but somewhere new to our friends; unfortunately, the place we recommended and opted for this time was just average. We all felt the service was average; staff were lacking interest in general and when we were asking questions about the specials, they seemed unbothered. We all agreed it was overpriced for what we got too, which was a shame. One tiny carrot, 2 small roast potatoes, cold leeks and cabbage and a watery gravy. The beef was quite nice and the mash was well seasoned. I have been here before for drinks and snacks which we previously enjoyed but on this occasion, we left disappointed.

Excellent pub with great character, got some of the ale the had on tap, which was off. Brought this to the attention of the landlord and it was no problem he was off to change the barrel and pull through two good pints, exactly what you want to happen in that situation. The chips we got were also excellent. An ideal pub to go to on the way from Manchester to the Peak District.

We had room 7 for a night, it’s a little apartment, which is lovely and perfectly positioned. For those looking for en-suite facilities the loo is the other end of the apartment. More lighting is required at the back (before the gate) The bedroom is a lovely size and plenty blankets etc for extra warmth just felt a bigger bed would be nice as the room can take it. Guessing it’s small / standard double.
