Impromptu visit midweek. Food was great, plentiful and well prepared. Excellent service, friendly and attentive staff. Grace was working her socks off, Jack is a real character!!

Amazing! The homemade thick steak and ale pie and Cumberland sausage with mash stand out as true British comfort food at its best. The pastry is golden and buttery, with just the right pastry and inside, the filling is generous and hearty tender steak. Loads of filling. The gravy served alongside is thick and delicious. Now to the Cumberland sausage with mash. The Cumberland sausage is everything you’d expect from a quality British banger. Paired with creamy, buttery mashed potatoes that melt in your mouth, this dish feels indulgent but homely. Just what we needed. Both dishes are served in hearty portion. We had side portions of onion rings. Delicious.

Steak night on a Tuesday For £20 I must say as a foodie the sirloin was cooked to perfection rare ! With a mushroom and garlic sauce and the chunkiest of chips One of the best tasting steaks I’ve had compliments to the chef and staff thanks again and will be back soon for one of your fantastic pies 😁

The waitress here deserves a medal, nothing was to much trouble for her. All my enquiries about gluten free food were met with positive answers and the food proved to be exceptional. All three meals were so tasty and excellent value for money. Will certainly return.

We stopped at this pub for dinner. I ordered the steak pie, but it was sold out, so both my husband and I opted for the curry instead. When it arrived, it was served on a wooden board with two small bowls—one for the curry and the other for the rice—making it nearly impossible to eat with a knife and fork. I asked the waitress for two plates and spoons, but her reaction made it seem like I had asked for something outlandish. She eventually brought us two side plates and soup spoons. While the food was delicious and I have no complaints there, the service and presentation left much to be desired. There was no checkback, the surrounding tables were dirty, and the staff could benefit from learning to smile.

I booked here for my dad’s 80th birthday celebration, 23 of us and the food was lovely!! Have been here several times before and always lovely for food and service. Massive thank you to Charley and her team, for a brilliant afternoon! 🥳

This was our second choice of lunch venue and I was very pleased the other option was unavailable as this place is an absolute gem ! Staff excellent ! Food divine and reasonably priced. The whole experience was excellent and we will definitely be back.

Went here at the weekend for a meal. We had fish & chips which was perfectly presented, sadly the taste didn’t match the appearance. The fish in particular tasted of burnt overused fat and the meal overall was greasy. It was a shame as the beer garden here is absolutely beautiful, much care and work has gone into this lovely area however the taste of the food should match the appearance. However at the prices charged this really needs to be worked on. I will return and try something else, but it won’t be the fish and chips again for certain. Maybe if the fat was changed more frequently and more attention given to the oil they use for frying it would improve things.

Took the father in law out for his birthday. What a meal, great service and lovely beer too! Awesome!

The Bulls Head have provided a great takeaway service during lockdown and this time has been no different. All the meals we have had are excellent quality and very good value for money. My favourite dish is the Cock and Bull but my son has had the pies and fish and these are also excellent. We find it's cheaper to get a meal from here than a takeaway and food is always very well cooked and excellent quality. Thank you

Outdoor Sunday lunch during lockdown was amazing . Table heaters available and lovely staff . One way system adhered to and no wait . No having to be kicked off the table promptly after 2 hours was up which is nice. Definitely visit again

my family of 4 had a superb Sunday roast,2 beef,1 pork and 1 turkey,all served hot and in good time considering how busy it was.We all felt very safe and at ease.thanks again

all staff were visors or masks hand gel on every exit and entry points ,,, booked table a couple of before welcome on arrival table was ready on time with a sign that my table was cleaned ..this time we had a sunday roast i had roast lamb and wife roast turkey both arrived very hot and had carrots and leeks ...we then both hadhomemade apple pie with 2 scoops of real homemade ice cream .. thank you to all staff making everywhere safe during this different times

The best food and lovely staff and most of all it felt like a very safe environment. I had liver and onions and it was lovely on a winter's night and hubby had his favourite steak and ale pie Every meal is always delicious and reasonably priced We will be back soon

We came for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was busy with diners upstairs but it's spacious so plenty of room between tables. It had a great atmosphere almost as if we weren't in Covid times.The staff were great and attentive and the whole thing was table service. Food was fabulous and reasonable.We had a really lovely evening and felt safe. The one way in and out is good as well as all the table cleaning etc. We had a few takeaway meals over lockdown but we were very glad to be back in real life!

We had booked for 8 persons at two tables of four. We arrived early evening and no tables were reserved for us downstairs although that was requested as 2 in the party had mobility issues. We had to climb a steep staircase to upstairs which was very sparsely furnished and decorated - so different from downstairs. Servings were very large, more than most could eat. Service was slow - we were the only diners upstairs. We were very disappointed especially as some of us had dined there before and were happy to return.

Since moving to the area we have had some lovely takeaways from here and also a couple of meals during eat out to help out. The food is fantastic and tasty, well presented and plentiful and I would say the best food in the area. Felt very secure with sanitising and one way system in place and will be visiting again soon

This restaurant is a gem 💎 in the heart of Cheshire and the lovely village of Davenham. They serve a variety of fantastic homemade pies 🥧 and always provide a friendly service. I can recommend the salt and pepper haddock with chips and peas! 🙌🏼

Great restaurant in the heart of Davenham. Every mean that I’ve had here has been gorgeous. Friendly staff and they now even do takeout. You can eat inside or outside and since social distancing, they have completed this to a high standard, but still keeping that countryside feel.

We missed the Bull's Head during lockdown and were extremely happy to be back! We had the burger, which has the most delicious onion rings and the fish and chips. The only thing missing from the latter was the home made tartare sauce. The pub has put lots of effort in to make you feel secure with the ongoing virus situation. Instead of bottles of sauce etc, all items are in individual packets so you feel very safe. The staff are as lovely as ever. We will be back!

We recently visited the bulls head for our family meal, I cannot fault the service we received. All went smoothly food was excellent staff very attentive but not imposing. It was that good we are taking our friends this weekend

We visited with another couple on Sunday for a meal, and sat out in the sun, the food was very efficient and absolutely delicious! Service was superb. Was a bit nervous with it being our first post-COVID dining experience but felt super safe, relaxed and felt good to be out! Thank you for a fantastic afternoon.

Came here with family for a Sunday lunch and food was delicious, staff were very friendly and extremely attentive. Prices are so reasonable. Came again today for lunch with my boyfriend and food was amazing, he had the salt and pepper chicken burger and said it was the best burger he's ever had! Was very quiet, quick service, staff friendly again and very pleasant experience!

Beyond expectations, excellent hot homemade food we throughly enjoyed as a treat while over in Hartford, always a great place to eat in normal times and served up a great takeaway with a surprise of a side of delicious onion rings!!

The Bulls Head is a firm family favourite of ours and they continue to provide (observing correct social distancing protocols) a delicious range of food as part of their new takeaway service during lockdown. We're particularly loving the range of pies on offer, all of which are packed full of flavour with no skimping on the filling...very yummy!

The takeaway service is brilliant as well as the choice in food...the pies are out of this world and everything is fresh and hot..a choice for everyone.. Simply the best.. Well done bullhead x

Ordered 4 meals and 3 were fine but the lasagne was about half an inch high and looked as if it had been nuked. I actually took it back but they were satisfied it was a decent portion. I wish them luck as it's hard going for everyone at the moment but I'd preferred they had offered a refund.

Can recommend the chicken and ham pie it was delicious with side orders of your choice. Efficient service too.

Been using the Bull throughout lockdown for takeaway meals, all been superb with ample quantities and quality as per the restaurant menu. Will continue to use through lockdown and hopefully back inside before long.

I had lamb and mint pie which was lovely and still hot when I got home. Always enjoy a meal when they are open and enjoyed my takeaway as much.

Due to corona our favourite pub isn’t open now but they are doing takeaway food. I rang and booked a takeaway roast for two over the phone, the lovely staff gave me a choice of collection times.

We had a Friday night treat. We ordered two pies and two desserts. The pies were gorgeous! We had a sizable portion of sides too. We are going to make this a weekly ritual from now on. Thank you The Bulls Head😊

I had to write this review as soon as I arrived home as was so pleased with this restaurant. My diet is vegan and gluten free and their food /menus are excellent. Loved their vegan burger. Service was really good too man excellent evening

We’re a bit disappointed after our visit here for lunch. We do have some medical dietary requirements which can be tricky, but explained these clearly to the waitress who asked appropriate questions and seemed to Understand. Unfortunately the message was lost in translation somewhere between the table and the kitchen. We requested a low/no carb meal

A very busy village pub serving good quality food. Friendly and efficient service. This was our second family visit, to celebrate our wedding anniversary, so we ordered in advance, cutting waiting time to a minimum. Strongly recommended...but must book in advance.

Went with friends and ordered from valentine special menu. Faultless. Shared a chateaubriand steak - absolutely delicious. Then handmade meringue - best meringue ever. Friendly atmosphere, efficient service. Highly recommended

Had the Sunday dinner roast turkey - the only thing missing was a pig in blanket! The Yorkshire pudding was a bit dry, tough and tasteless - other than that everything was great. Service is very friendly and professional. Food is all freshly prepared and nicely presented.

The waitresses were very efficient, checking our food was okay and whether we wanted more drinks frequently. We really enjoyed our evening and will be back again to our local pub very soon! Great to see the pub so full and could not fault our Christmas dinner. Staff worked really hard and all courses served hot and a decent amount of time between each one. Wild boar steak melted in the mouth. Already booked for Xmas 2020. We’ll done Steve, Julie and all your staff

We went here with the family on Christmas Day. We waited nearly an hour just for the starters which wasn’t good the pate was sloppy and the toast was burnt and the salad hadn’t been washed! Main meal wasn’t upto much either roast potatoes weren’t cooked properly very pale and a little hard. The beef wasn’t good either and the veg wasn’t enough portions to go around for 5people only 2small bowls! The only decent thing out of everything was the Xmas pudding & brandy sauce. For £65.00 not worth it at all unfortunately won’t be going back!!

Impromptu lunch date with family and Grandson. We all went for the pie, apart from the baby who had leak and potato soup, which was blended. Pies were all good and all serve hot. Especially loved the steak and stilton. Chicken pie was also highly recommended. Lovely cosy atmosphere with the Christmas and twinkly lights.

Just returned from a regular visit to the bulls head in Davenham and as always the food was excellent, love the homemade steak pies, great choice of beers, wine is always good, great friendly local full of great characters and wonderful staff that go above and beyond and are very attentive and friendly

I regularly go to the Bulls Head and have to say that the atmosphere is very good, lively and friendly, the owners are great and the food and service is very good. Only down side is that for a cider drinker the options are not great (for me anyway, no Thatchers) and only the only gluten free beer is Peroni (not a favourite of mine but drinkable). These (admittedly personal) niggles aside, I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a warm, friendly local.

Great Pub with excellent food choice. There are so many rooms with dining areas, nooks & crannies, good level of service & attention, guest beers as well what more!

We visited the Bulls head because we heard they allowed dogs. We were met with a warm welcome and seated by the fire in the bar. We ordered burgers which arrived in good time and were delicious. The staff were so friendly and accommodating especially Kelly and Becky who made our visit extra special because they are so lovely and a credit to the pub. We were very impressed and will be visiting again soon.

Longed for a pint after a busy day moving house, and decided to eat at the last minute. The decision was such a good idea as from the start to the finish, everyone did a fantastic job. Jade was very good, polite and very pleasant. The food was to me very traditional and fresh. A nice pleasant pub to enjoy a pint with good quality traditional food. Looking forward to a new life around here. We'll pass a good word to friends and family. Well done everyone.

Three of us went for tea. Not been before. Old fashioned type pub with good parking and loads of room inside with an outside area. Decent menu and good table service.There wasn't many people in at the time (7pm) so not sure what that would be like if busy.

We brought our Australian friends this week for a meal after a bad experience at the Old Barbridge inn and we all left with full bellies with the amazing pies here. We have eaten here a couple of times and once again we were impressed. We shall be returning soon for much of the same...more pies!!

The food was really good so we visited twice during our 4 day stay here. The staff were very helpful and very polite. We would highly recommend this pub. Thank you so much, we will revisit when we are back in the area.

Called in for Sunday lunch but fully booked always a good if disappointing sign. We were however offered a table in the public bar which was very noisy but only to be expected. Sunday lunch was served by friendly staff everything was well cooked and the beef just melted so tender. It could have been hotter and in fairness the staff did say you should have told us which is very true.

I have been to The Bull many times over the years and it’s always been enjoyable this time was no different.

Good selection on the menu. We both chose a different pie and would recommend both, minced beef and onion and steak and kidney. Good portion size with plenty of fresh well cooked vegetables and chunky chips! Service was very good and staff friendly and cheerful.

meal was obviously reheated sunday lunch. very poor quality. potatoes and veg like bulletts / we were not impressed . service was ok though. sad as it is our local, and i have been before and it was ok

A family meal (13 of us) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The pub was very busy but the service was pretty quick and efficient, and the food was good ( we ordered in advance).

We visited tonight for my mother-in-laws birthday, the food was divine, the service from the girls waiting on tables was second to none! I had the steak, my husband had the pie, my boys had burgers and my mum in law had the liver, couldn’t fault anything about this place, it was busy but the attention from the staff was excellent, will definitely be visiting again
