The Bullers Arms in Torbay

Came here for lunch today, very welcomming bar lady and the food we ordered arrived fresh and hot. Its a basic menu but so cheap, we almost thought we were looking at a childs menu. If you fancy something non fancy head here. The pub itself is in need of some tlc but put that to one side and you have a friendly local, selling good cheap food with stunning views. And its dog friendly.

Brixham was packed at lunchtime yesterday, so we were delighted to find The Bullers virtually empty! We ordered our meals (4 adults & 3 children) & became rather concerned as the place was almost empty. However after a fairly long wait, we were very pleasantly surprised to receive our food which was excellent. The young man who served us was very polite & attentive too. We’ll certainly be back!

Absolutely welcoming and lovely manners. I would definitely recommend this lovely bar , this has been probably one of my best experience I’ve had throughout my years of living .

Had a late lunch here with the family. Very friendly staff, brought dog treats and water for our dog and were very friendly and helpful. Food did take a little while, but it was lovely and we all enjoyed it very much.

We called in here for lunch as a party of four. With my father in law and disabled sister in law. The food was simply incredible with a wide and varied menu. We ordered a curry a sandwich, ham egg and chips and a ploughman's. Lunch. The staff were happy to let my sister in law order off the children's menu her disability will only allow her to eat small portions and they were fine with it. The prawn sandwich was crammed with fresh prawns and the fully was also tasty. Saving the best till last Dads ploughman's. Upon ordering I thought it was priced slightly on the high side but it's arrival explained all of that. I have never witnessed such an enormous fresh ploughman's in all my days. A choice of cheddar or stilton and the cheese was plentiful enough to feed the average family for a week. I believe this pub is in new ownership and if you have tried here before and left disappointed I would urge you to give it another go. The owners have got a great selection and variety of dishes well presented and at a sensible cost compared to many in The bay. A special mention must go to Cameron who gave us great service during our visit. Thankyou team.

Myself and my wife had the curry of the day. I was pleasantly surprised as it was proper chicken meat and not that processed rubbish you can get. Compared to some prices in Brixham this place has to be up there for value and quality. Hopefully these new owners will stick around so in the words of Arnie, I'll be back!

Soul Dance night on Sunday. No heating in the entire pub on cold mid-winter evening! Very uncomfortable when seated. Had to dance frequently to bear staying there. Drinks were overpriced, e.g., half pint beer and single vodka & tonic over £9 ! Similar price for 2 tonics and a tiny bag of nuts (which tasted stale and was well beyond Best Before date). Disgraceful for a pub in a tourist hot spot.

Owners very rude and unwelcoming. Shame because the pub is nice but there was no atmosphere at all.

I have never met such a rude unhelpful landlord in my entire life. We ordered at lunchtime and could have had the food for tea by the time it finally came out. We ordered two bubble and squeak with garlic bread and waited Around 2 hours. We asked on a number of occasions how much longer it would be and two couples before us had a refund as fed up of waiting. Two people sent meals back. When I approached the land and asked for a quiet word he was rude and unhelpful telling me he was short staffed and what did I expect him to do? Perhaps being informed that there would be a wait would have helped. DO NOT go here and especially not for food. I am not an unreasonable person and understand things happen but he could have defused the situation much better if he had been understanding instead of angry and blaming and had helped out behind the bar instead of rolling cutlery for food they were not serving! Don’t give this man your custom

Menu needs looking at. Very basic food. No steaks, seafood dishes. Basically, if you want pie and chips, go to the chippy, you'll get more for your money. Refused to pay nearly £10 for a cheese and onion sandwich ( with a side salad). Come on doesnt that make it a cheese SALAD???

Absolutely brilliant. Good food. Good beer and a great atmosphere. Great pub back to its best after the the last owners thankfully left

Popped in here for lunch one day. It was quite a nice space to sit in and we were looking forward to some delicious food. Three of our party did not want the accompanying salad with their meals and one meal was ordered "as it comes" (chicken burger and chips); this seemed to be fine with no issues at point of ordering. However when the meals came out, the chicken burger was missing the onion rings and the burger was a dry bun with a piece of grilled chicken in it. We asked about the onion rings and we were told that as we ordered the meals without garnish then these had been removed. First of all, the chicken burger had not been ordered without garnish (their misunderstanding presumably leading to the burger having no salad in it) and secondly onion rings are not a garnish - they are a side. This was however quickly resolved and the onion rings followed within moments. Unfortunately though due to the dry bun and grilled chicken with no salad or sauce, the burger would have been inedible if it wasn't for the hunger and the onion rings that had now been placed inside the bun as well, along with two sachets of mayo. My husband was also disappointed with his food; crab sandwich (with chips not salad). Being harbour-side and knowing Brixham is a very busy fishing port, hubby expected the sandwich to be made with fresh crab and some nice chunky bread. Instead he got tinned crab in thin white bread instead. This was not what he expected and certainly not for the price they charge for it. We did eat the food as we were hungry and some food is better than none, but we were very disappointed in the quality for the price paid. On top of that the ladies toilets also need sorting out; they are grim with barely functioning locks and toilet seats that try to throw you on the floor because they are not attached properly. Overall, this place could and should do better. Charging a premium price because of location is expected but the quality of the food needs to match the price. Would not recommend.

Rude staff member upset my grandson We visited as a family. 11 of us. We visit brixham every year as a family. We have never experienced anything like the rude member of staff who snatched my grandsons children menu and upset him.

Awful pub. Rude and aggressive owner snatched menu from a child, for no reason. Then argued and called my partner a six year old for defending him. Other customers said he’s always rude to children, so they don’t take them anymore. Really poor. Pub smelt like a urinal too.

Nicely refurbished, we found the food pricey for pub grub and nothing special, chips undercooked. Wine expensive, l buy the same from Tesco for £5 this was 4 times the amount.. Not sure will be going again, shame.

After the poor customer service from old market house, went to the Buller arms. Welcomed as we would expect from any place, found a table and ordered our food, which was wholesome and tasty and worth the cost the customer care was what anyone would expect, would return if in Brixham again

He barked his orders across the bar then decided he wanted a crab sandwich so went out of his own bar to buy from another business, which was closed he announced loudly………. hello !! You sell food ? Popped in for a drink. Amazing place. Clean and friendly. Good ale. Great customer service. Didn't eat but saw the food coming out of the kitchen and it looked fabulous. Give The Bullers a try if you're in the locale. You won't be disappointed.

Great value for money. Had the chicken jalfrezi and chips my husband had hunters chicken and my daughter had a chicken burger ,garlic bread with cheese , 2 pints of cider and a pint of coke £47. There was a little bit of a wait but well worth it. None of us could finish the meal. Highly recommend

Visited here twice during our week stay in Brixham. Food was really good on the whole. The steaks were a bit hit & miss (both order medium/well but one was undercooked and the other overdone) and also the steak sauce was watery. But all other meals were fabulous. Huge portions. Lovely side salad and choice of potatoes. Need to get some kids menus printed! Kids loved playing pool which was only 50p a go. Staff welcoming and friendly. Would recommend a visit.

Booked a table for an early evening meal. When we arrived we went straight to the table and young lady took order for drinks. After about 10 minutes I approached the bar to ask about the drinks, they had forgotten. They brought drinks and we ordered the ribs. Lovely food. Good plateful. The one down side was the fact that that even though the majority of people adhered to the covid 19 rules in place at the moment, a group of 4 very young people walked in, no masks, strolled through and sat at a table by us. They were a little loud at times and were using bad language and at no time were they asked to tone it down or to wear masks on the numerous occasions they got up to go outside for a cigarette or to toilets.

From the outside this is an old fashioned pub with not much kerb appeal but what a lovely surprise when we went inside. Two very attentive staff run the bar with great efficiency. All COVID rules followed but in a very friendly and pleasant manner. We hadn’t planned to eat here but after seeing other people eat we decided to try as it looked so nice. Fish pie was superb and so fresh as were the fish and chips. What a lovely local pub. So glad we popped in

After a 8 mile walk from paignton to brixham. We arrived starving hungry and a thirst to drink the harbour dry. We stopped at the Bullers and it was everything we expected it to be, warm, friendly and serve a great pint Highly recommended and the food looked great to xx

I booked a table for 5. I was asked if a dog was included in our small party of family. As an important member of the family, I was delighted that dogs are very welcome. The menus was limited due to the new restrictions on food storage. When questioned about various dishes, the chef was very honest about what was good and what was not so good. The meals we ordered were good. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I await the full menu when normality returns and will definitely return.- Top marks for effort for the staff at the Bullers Arms!!

Very dated inside, needs a good spruce up. Reminds me of an old mans pub. Not enough staff, only 2 so long queues at the bar, not good for social distancing, no table service. Food is nothing to rave about. Overall just ok

The staff had excellent service. On 2 occasions in one week (we went back because it was so good) and they were so busy but managed to fit us in. It made a change to visit somewhere where the COVID rules still applied but the staff were still polite friendly and treated you with respect and like you weren’t a naughty child

Popped into the pub for lunch as visiting Brixham for the day... We left after just having a drink. No social distancing measures in place whatsoever, only one person serving behind the bar and no waiter service. This resulted into a queue forming for people waiting to be served and no markers for people to stand safely which resulted in 4-5 people standing at the bar at one time. Tables where you could sit to eat had not been placed apart from each other and the pub was very busy. Nobody was asked by any member of staff to stand back and respect people's space. We left as we felt very uncomfortable.

Having worked in hospitality for years I hugely do not agree with pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants charging more to ‘tourists’ then ‘locals’ This Place you will be charged an extra 50p per drink if you are thought of as a tourist!!!! Little do they know we are not and visit regularly as family live there! Will not be visiting again I find this wholly unfair! And top top things off dirty glasses.... NOT my lipstick and clearly not good cleaning practices during these uncertain Covid times!

When everywhere was full up and not table available the staff will away try and help out. Very nice staff good home made food and good service. The real ale is very good.

visited here on the 25/18/20 and had a delicious meal. service by vanessa and anita was amazing and were so friendly, service with a smile. i was shocked to find out the managers were the two people who’ve were least helpful. the chef even came up to change the chanel and was really helpful when i asked about the menu. the food was amazing and would defiantly go again but only due to the professional and friendly chef who i can only assume was head chef because of experience in the industry. “managers” let the place down but thank you to the ladies behind the bar who made our experience. :)

Had a lovely meal today at the Bullers. We’ve been to Brixham the last 2 years and always end up here. Food is lovely and staff are always accommodating at finding us a table despite there being 6 adults as 4 kids. Highly recommend. We had the fish and chip special today for £4.95 each, a bargain!

5 Hungary family members found solace here on a very busy and hot day when Brixham was rammed. Must be said, we walked in out of desperation. What a relief, the staff, food, and Covid protection arrangements were excellent. A very enjoyable experience.

We are a whole family who happened to visit Brixham after our stay in Exeter. First impression is a family owned business with a hands on personal touch.Food is tasty and ample all the staffs which we all thought owns the place are all friendly with a welcoming smile on their faces.It was a treat for all of us since their fish and chips was on a special for half the price.They dont have a specific menu for cocktails but they can make any on request.Overall a highly recommended place for a group of friends or family whenever you visit or stay in Brixham.

We struggled to find somewhere to eat on Tuesday. Everywhere was packed due to the Summer and the 'Eat out to help out' scheme.The Bullers staff were really accommodating and found us a table.The pub was a proper old fashioned British pub which we loved.The food was pretty good and all meals were 2 for £16.Take off 50% eating on a Mon to Wed and you've got yourself a serious bargain.The beer was decent too.We went back for a second evening and again had a lovely time.We were a party of 6 with kids aged 12 + 14 who were welcomed.There didn't appear to be a time that it turned 'adults only' which was nice

My friend and I booked in advance to take advantage of the discount in August. Meal was cod and chips for me, my friend had the fish pie. Both meals were generous portions, the fish was definitely fresh and cooked to order. Staff were really nice to chat with and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere in the pub was pleasant, considering the fact that numbers were limited due to covid-19 restrictions. We're going to be visiting again in a few months and The Bullers Arms is definitely on the list for visiting again.

We visited here 2 days ago as a family.We ordered lasagne, chicken tikka masala, cod and chips and a kids meal of chicken nuggets and chips.The lasagne and chicken nuggets were piping hot and home made which was really nice to see although the lasagne could've been more tomato'ey as the meat looked very pale. Also the onions were big chunks and as much as i like onion i don't want to be crunching them in a lasagne but thats being picky and personal preference. The batter on the chicken nuggets and the cod was a bit soggy and not crispy at all.Staff are all really friendly and attentive and we had 50% off our bill from the 'eat out' campaign.Ate here last year and would eat here again but would order differently perhaps..

Had no idea where to go for something to eat in Brixham and saw Bullers arms. What a fantastic meal. Food was outstanding. Could tell it was fresh and home made. Staff were very friendly and felt very "covid safe". If we are ever in Brixham again we will be back
