Great local pub with a really good atmosphere and lovely licencees. The ceaser salad was to die for especially the dressing and my friends hunters chicken was just as lovely. All in all we had a great visit, so much so that we were back the next day for another drink!!!

At first the website said it was closed but times may change on a bank holiday . But there should be more information when it's a bank holiday . Had a lovely steak pie homemade with mash and peas very tasty and hot ,price ok . The other person had burger home made looked very tasty ,but burgers where still pink inside . It was sent back and they did give us another meal freshly cooked . Staff very helpful and friendly would do anything for you . Place lovely and clean and done out very well .

Ended up in The Bull enroute North - simply because we were hungry and it was the closest place! It was a joy to walk into a local pub that was actually buzzing and full of people. We got a warm welcome form the landlord and were quickly directed to a free table. The food was good and the decently priced :).

We've wanted to visit this heart of the village pub for sometime, and today we got the chance. We were a party of 4 vegetarians so we were a little apprehensive about the menu choices. 2 of us opted for the Vege Sausage and Mash but changed the mash to chips, added an egg. So we had Vege Sausage, Egg and Chips. We had no issues and the meals came out lovely! My wife had the beetroot risotto and the other had Mac N Cheese as a main. All of the meals were piping hot and of a good quality. The service, music and atmosphere were also superb. We will definitely be back. If you've not been here, you really should!

This place has recently had a refurb and new management. We called in for lunch mid week. The staff are very welcoming and attentive and can't do enough for customers. We sat by a roaring log fire in the snug. My friend and I opted for macaroni cheese each with fries between us. The mac was the best, freshly cooked (the landlady apologised for the wait as the chef was cooking the pasta!) The fries were chunky and enough for two. This, with two soft drinks came to £18 but was off the "sides" menu. Other dishes e.g. Fish and chips £17.95 off the mains menu are a bit more expensive. We enjoyed our meal, others eating were having Valentines meals which looked very special. Recommended.

I don't think I have ever had a better Sunday roast, and the value was stupendous. We had 6 types of vegetables with it. The roast pork was just fabulous. Everything was in fact, and to top it all the young people who served us were all lovely. We don't come from the area but I think people in Clifton on Dunsmore are very lucky indeed to have a pub like this available to them, I hope they give it loads of custom and that it is still there next time we are passing through!

Went twice last week, first time no food , second time rang ahead . Yes they are doing door until 9pm, arrive at 7.15pm , not doing food as chef has left, you can’t make it up. This pub seems to be missing a trick as they were busy so could make plenty off food orders. It feels a bit chaotic and our experience was poor as a consequence

Visited The Bull for a lunch catch up with friends. As it was quite hot we all opted for salads. Mine was cheese salad, husband had Ceasar salad, another had chicken Ceasar salad and the fourth was steak salad. We shared cheesy chips on the side. Proper chips and the salads were amazing! Freshly prepared and didn't skimp on ingredients. Washed down with beers, Thatchers Gold cider and good natured bants with the delightful hosts! Sat in the garden but had a quick peek inside to see comfy settee zones and tables elsewhere for dining. Had a good vibe to the place and will be back. Thanks guys. J&K.

Having spent over an hour jammed in a 3 mile M1 diversion, my wife and I decided to leave the motorway and look for a local pub to relax with a drink and a bite to eat. After driving through an unattractive industrial estate we drove into a small village, saw the Bull Inn and pulled into the spacious car park to the rear. Walking in through the rear door it felt as though we were stepping back into the 70s. No frills, but clean and welcoming. This is not a chain pub which has become a restaurant. This is an old fashioned “local” which serves excellent food. We were made to feel at home by the family staff. The hand pulled ale was well kept and there was a good selection. The food menu was VERY extensive and looked good. We just ordered sandwiches and sides, which did not disappoint. Very tasty, good sized portions and a very affordable price. Loved it.

Ended up in the Bull because no other pubs were serving food. It was a disappointment. The beer had a disinfectant taste and the food was poorly cooked and presented. Maybe a burger and chips would have been less challenging for the kitchen and more successful. I won't be going back.

Special Valentine meal advertised. Originally said 13th to 15th. I rang up and booked 13th, stating I was booking for the Valentine meal. We arrived, said we'd booked for the Valentine's meal and the lady at the bar took our drinks order and said we could sit where we liked. When she returned with the drinks she said the special meal was only on 14th, 15th. and 16th. When I booked, on 11th I was not told the meal on 13th was not going to be the Valentine special. We were disappointed, but tired and hungry so ordered from the regular menu. I asked for Liver and bacon, only to be told they weren't doing it any more. So I had a steak (expensive), which was OK, and my partner had Lasagne, which was dry and lacking in sauce. He was surprised when he came to pay the bill to find he'd been charged £2.50 for chips, which he'd been asked if he wanted. He'd assumed this was an option, not an extra. He would not have ordered chips if he'd had realized they were an extra. This turned out to be an expensive meal considering what we'd had and we won't be returning. I commented on the facebook page, but the comment was deleted and no response was received.

The food was a disappointing catalogue of major errors, from cold twice cooked oven chips (22 in total as a portion), onion rings which oozed with grease, microwaved bullet peas (all 36), rib eye steak which was more than half fat, over cooked chicken, powdered mash and Cumberland sausage which was actually 3 over cooked pork sausages all topped off with a complimentary desert which contained a hair. I will say the staff and service was excellent and explained clearly that the venue is in transition of management, and changeover of kitchen staff which are addressing the issues with the food (and as such did not charge for food). Fingers crossed they get it right soon, as the place could (should) be a gem.

This was one of our favourite pubs to eat but two weeks ago we went for dinner, VERY disappointed with the tasteless food. Thought we would give it another go for lunch, it was cold, bar person didn't look very happy and the food was low quality and tasteless. I ordered a cheese and pickle. The cheese which was only in the middle so only covered 50% of the bread came melted with tonnes of warm branston pickle on top. The bread was half way between toasted and fresh which makes it feel stale on one side. Toasted or cold and that's it. The chips were bland and just tasted of cooking oil. Needless to say didn't eat them. What has happened The Bull Inn? This is not what we are used to after many years of eating there.

Well mixed reviews . Sunday lunch is ok but how they are charging 11.99 is beyond me. It’s a standard Sunday dinner ... nothing special ... two anaemic looking roast potatoes .... won’t be returning not when there are other places close by where you can get a better quality dinner for less money. The lunch light bites are good value and the steak melt for £5.75 is lovely but I’m not sure about the prices of the rest of the menu !! Also invest in a cleaner the place was a dump last week at lunch time opening , clearly not been cleaned for days ( was in the previous couple of days and still the same stuff on the floor and behind the bar was ....... not nice )

Called in yesterday with some friends to see the refurbishment and we were underwhelmed. The parts that have been decorated only highlight the shabby higher ceilings that definitely need doing, I’ve never noticed it before. It felt like a really old fashioned pub but not in a good way, there was a really strange damp smell and there were no fires lit despite it being freezing cold. To top it off the Pinot was very expensive and quite unpleasant. Not sure if food is on offer but if it is I can’t comment on that. Not for me I’m afraid, won’t be returning in a hurry.

I grew up in the 1980s a very short walk from the Bull, and, back then, it wasn't exactly the place to be for a teenager (I mean young adult.) This was an improvised family visit to this nearby pub, where all six of us left feeling very satisfied! Every dish was well cooked and delicious; certainly credit to the chef. So often pub favourites are a disappointment, but not here. The fish was beautifully white & cooked just right, the chips excellent and the service was friendly and efficient. One of us chose a pasta dish, which is often a risky choice, but here it was not only very tasty but also well garnished. Overall a lovely pub, which still retains a country feel as well as being very good value for money.

I really like the Bull as it's a very traditional building with an interesting layout; there's always something interesting to see around the next corner. We booked a table for Sunday lunch and I was surprised to find on arrival at 1.00 pm that we were two of only eight diners plus a couple of guys propping the bar up. We were made to feel very welcome and shown to a nice table in the window, drinks following very quickly but it was while perusing the menu that I began to realise two possible reasons as to why there weren't many customers. Sorry to have to say to the very nice people running the place, but your seats are a bit uncomfortable. I also thought that the menu prices seemed a little bit on the high side but it would have been unfair to arrive at that judgment at that stage without tasting the food so we ordered. I needn't have worried as the standard of the meal was high. I had mushrooms in garlic sauce and better half went for the whitebait, both delicious. We both had roast beef for the main course and finished off with cheesecake for myself and sticky toffee for the missus, who without prompting claimed it was the best sticky toffee she'd ever had. She must have liked the Australian Chardonnay as she managed two 250 ml glasses but one pint of the Tribute bitter was enough for me. We came away feeling well fed and refreshed but with my wallet just a touch lighter than I felt it should have been.

My family are really upset about this. We booked a table for 4 adults and 2 children for 1.30 pm today. At 2.30 pm we were still waiting for our food. There were several waitresses coming in and out of the kitchen; all but one avoided eye contact/any form of apology for the wait. When our food arrived, I started on my lasagne until my daughter expressed surprise that it was Quorn, not spinach and ricotta as ordered. We decided to double check it was Quorn, the waitress came back and said 'Oh I'm sorry, it is beef, can I get you something else? I explained I was vegetarian but she shrugged her shoulders and said the mistake wasn't her fault. I asked to see the manager and he admitted it was his fault, he hadn't got a chef and he was cooking. He was admittedly very stressed and eventually offered in front of all the customers there to cook me a vegetarian lasagne and to let us have all our meals free of charge as an apology. However, when my daughter went to pay, he refused to do this, knocking just my meal and a few of the drinks off the bill. When both myself and my son in law reminded him of his earlier promise, he said it had been said in the heat of the moment. My daughter was very upset that her treat to us had been spoilt and so just wanted to pay and go, but afterwards our family were all really angry about how we'd been treated. I would never eat there again.

We didn't have the ice cream, but I assume that is just as good. I have the Bull Burger, wow, that was a whopper. Very pleased with our first visit here. Really good service, great menu of straightforward pub food with a few twists (e.g. a very generous portion of chicken fajitas with chips!).

Called on the off chance today for lunch. What a great experience. Food hot and freshly cooked. Very friendly owners and staff. New boiler wasn't working but ladies brought us mobile heater to keep us warm. So will be returning tomorrow night with friends who are visiting from Norfolk. Hope to make this our local and regular from now own.

Whilst visiting rugby I stopped here for a drink. The pub is large and looks like a food pub but it's just a drinking pub. It was very clean and modern and the staff were friendly.

We popped in for dinner from our boat on the canal just down the road. They were friendly enough, but it was quiz night, so that tended to dominate.

We had a lovely lunch here. There were 6 adults and one child, although we had booked a table there was no need. The food that we ordered was delicious. My only negative comment about the food was the garlic bread starters, they could have been served a little warmer, other than that the food was served as we ordered it. The staff were very friendly too. We also had a tab which included drinks this was a nice option to have. The tables were clean, and the cutlery was spotless, I know this sounds a bit picky, but in some restaurants the cutlery seems to have water stains and this makes them look dirty. Well done kitchen staff.

I take my mother her for lunch every few weeks. The menu is nice, the food never disappoints and is good value. I particularly love the white chocolate and raspberry bread and butter pudding ... heaven but best shared.

Needed to book somewhere for 10 people for a meal after being let down at last minute, very grateful to The Bull for accommodating us all at such short notice. Meal was very nice: starters and mains, had no room for a pudding though. Nice rhubarb gin too.

I took some friends there in February 2017 and, although local, they hadn't been for years. The meal was impressive with a good choice of dishes and great service.

Celebrated my husbands 40th and daughters 18th at The Bull in March and it was great. Prior to the date, Tracey worked with us to set a fixed menu/price and was very helpful in showing us around the pub suggesting different places we could sit on the day. The staff were very helpful on the morning when I arrived to put banners and balloons up and moved tables around. The actual meal was a great success. The food was lovely and the service was very good. Paying the bill was also a smooth process considering there were a number of people paying different amounts. We all had a fantastic time.

Great hospitality shown by both staff members working in the bar. Food was okay but nothing special.Expensive for the portions we were served. For example our starter was £6 for 3 small pieces of chicken in breadcrumbs.Main course was similar, poor value for the price.Items which we would have ordered from the menu weren't available ☹️.

You know how it is eating out on those special named days, you expect restaurants to be rammed and the quality of the experience to nosedive, but Mothers Day here for our family party was untroubled by this risk. The food was a the top of the 'pub grub' ladder and the service exemplary. A generous roast with smooth mash and nicely turned out potatoes, veg at the right point on that scale between hard and overcooked, very flavoursome gravy and beef of the thickness to get your teeth into. To be fair, the knife didn't run through the meat like butter, but neither was it chewy and it certainly had a good taste to it. The top marks, though, went to the sticky toffee and custard combo, a perfect texture and sweetness, that one could have tackled twice over. Not sure, though, why the custard jug was presented the table sat in the toffee sauce, I resented every molecule that then affixed itself the base of the vessel, made that sticky and was lost the dish.Friendly, welcoming and attentive staff added to a good ambience and a celebratory atmosphere where the only complaints could but be very minor.

Great lunch with a pint. Between us we had liver / bacon and fish n chips. Both were very nice. Ate in the garden as the pub wasn't dog friendly. Used to that tho. Good selection of Ales (St Austell Tribute, Proper Job and TT Landlord)

Visited this place on the review of a local walking group five years ago and my parents visit 36 years ago!We were greeted and sat after confirming our booking. The place was larger than I remembered, it was early evening and the tables are tucked into every nook and cranny of this building so it seemed quiet. The waiter took our drink then food order. Drinks came around quickly and the food was cooked to order and this too was timely.Friendly service with (I presume) the owner checking by a couple of times to see if everything was okay.Food portions were generous and filling as compared to other pubs. Maybe taking the dessert was a case of 'my eyes were bigger than my stomach'...We recommend this place although make sure you have not snacked throughout the day before you arrive as it will ruin your experience.

Great venue for local artists and makers. Usually demonstrations taking place. Fabulous cakes and drinks available. It's not a pub anymore! Don't rate it low just because it's not been updated on here it is unfair! How do request a change of listing TripAdvisor?

My partner and I had to be at Wolfhampcote church (nearby) for a rehearsal at 1pm last Sunday, so I rang up the Old Olive Bush to ask if they could fit us in for lunch. They wouldn't normally have opened before 12.30, but Linda was determined that we wouldn't be late for our rehearsal, and offered to open up at midday. She also described the steak pie in such alluring terms that we placed an order for it immediately...and it lived up to the billing. Thank you, Linda, for a delicious lunch, and for being so helpful. We hope to come again!
