I took my sister and husband today (New Years Eve). My first time in the pub, even though I live nearby. Excellent service from initially enquiry on Facebook messenger and throughout our meal. The staff were all very friendly and could not have been more helpful. The roast is excellent value and there were plenty of other options. Also, a great selection of proper puddings, none of the nonsense “deconstructed cheese cake” type!!! We all had apple crumble and custard, but could happily have had any of the puddings. Well done everyone and Happy New Year…will definitely be back in soon.

Brilliant pub , nice landlord and landlady

Having booked for 12.30, our bus was severely delayed by roadworks, making us over 30 minutes late. However, we phoned whilst en route and Pauline passed on that we were still coming and they held our reservation. So glad, food as excellent as ever, service second to none, our appetites sated completely. Thanks to everyone who made our trip such a nice pre-Christmas meal experience. Look forwards to our next visit.

Amazing menu. 1st time wee been. Loved it. Food,staff, and service were fabulous.

We bumped into someone that overheard us planning where to eat....she suggested The Bull Inn saying she worked there. I asked about vegan options and was told yes they had them We arrived and no vegan options on the menue. I asked the waitress and she did not think there were any. I impressed on her my exchange with a collegue, and she checked with the kitchen. There were vegan options but not marked. I ordered the creamy goulash...except when it arrived it was not creamy. Mum had the bangers and mash and noticed the food was not hot...shame she did not say until she had eaten most of it. I did like the decor...very cosy and tasteful in a homespun mellow way. As long as the food is hot this would be a good place to return with a meat eater...lots of homemade pies and the like...hearty meaty stuff. Not so sure about a vegan....had a cursory look at the deserts and there seemed no vegan options there.

Well run pub restaurant. Pies vey tasty, but some other items needed to be better. Think offering a shorter menu might help quality. Irish coffee however was first class. Service was excellent, prompt and helpful.

What can I say, fantastic to see a proper menu with real English mains, none of this pretty looking meals on a roofing slate, home made pies, liver and bacon, steak and kidney pud, man it was good. Six of us all enjoyed what we had. Great friendly and helpful staff, good beer on tap. Well worth a visit if you like real food at a good price.

Wow what a find, staying at caravan park seen on Google maps, a great evening meal and bottle of wine at a fair price by lovely friendly waitress.

We had the most amazing meal. The lamb shank fell off the bone. My partner had steak and kidney pudding he loved it and keeps talking about how amazing it was. The rest of our party enjoyed their meals. Staff friendly and helpful, the chef came and had a little chat with us. Definitely recommend couldn’t fault it at all

We stayed locally at Combe Haven for 4 nights from the 18th September and visited the Bull Inn twice for an evening meal. Lovely food, staff, service and atmosphere from a traditional pub! It's hard to find this kind of quality where we are in Southampton. Hoping to come back next year. Well done to the Bull Inn 🩷

We went to this restaurant on Sunday for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately spoilt by sweet chef continually licking his fingers without washing them once. I saw it happen 11 plus times with no attempt at washing them.

Lovely pub and great food selection

Nice little pub which has recently been renovated on the outside. There's a car park to the rear and a nice beer garden. The inside is rather dated and makes you feel like you have gone back in time (but some people might like that). Huge menu, with plenty to choose from. Good size portions and quality of food not bad for the price. I ordered the bacon and brie burger but the brie was cold and not melted at all like you'd expect. Otherwise, it was pretty good.

This place is special to me in a funny way as its the pub me and my dad went for a pint for the first time when I was a younger man. It's only got better with time. I call in here now and then when passing. Food looks and smells amazing although I haven't had it. The garden is very nice in the summer.

Recently visited the area for a family get together. One of our party is a vegan and one a vegetarian. The pub owners and chef went out of their way to provide some vegan options. Their menu does include a good selection of vegetarian options but I wasn't so sure about vegan options. However after contacting the pub I was informed vegan options could be provided. It was a very friendly pub with good food and a sunny beer garden. I would visit again if I were in the area.

Great place , I must say as a local I've only been here once before for a quick drink , but last night we managed to get a late book in for food and I had the best pie mash and liquor I've had for years . Really friendly staff and great chef , I will definitely be back again thank you 👍👍👍

We ate at the Bull Inn twice during our week long stay in Bexhill. The menu is very varied and the food quality was fine. They are also dog friendly inside which was a plus for us, although there is a very nice pub garden. Would certainly return.

Lovely Sunday lunch with great service.

Been here twice over the August Bank Holiday. The food and service is superb. The Sunday roast. was cooked lovey. and the price is so reasonable. Have paid twice that in some pubs and nowhere has near has good. Have a lovely beer Garden too. I wish this was my local. Well worth a visit to this friendly local pub. The homemade pies I recommend.

Lovely little pub we discovered by chance. Very welcoming staff and found us a table at peak time even though we hadn't booked. Good selection of ales and the food was excellent, highly recommended the homemade pies, and the lamb shank was a great favourite. Good to see traditional dishes on the menu. Would definitely visit again.

The chef is amazing and the food is incredible. Absolutely gorgeous. But I was given the completely wrong pie even though I'd raised my hand for stilton and was so looking forward to having my stilton and steak pie after a rough day. It was obviously nice regardless but I didn't like it near as much as what I would have if I'd have gotten what I'd ordered. :( I was going to mention to take this off my bill but I never got to as the birthday lady had already paid for ours, otherwise I would have.

Ooohhhh! The pies are superb 👌 👏 Took my Mum there for lunch, spot on. Now Mum always complaines about something when we go out to eat but she couldn't that day!

Little bit disappointed. Great weekday menu online, but it's more limited choice on a Sunday as its a small kitchen. I was not that impressed with my choice. Shame because - really nice staff, attractive family run pub with a good garden away from the main road and a covered smoking deck. (They also have live music). Plenty of parking. Dogs are welcome.

Service very friendly, traditional pub food at its best. Try the homemade pies! Wonderful! Dog friendly, they even gave our dog couple of treats. Plus doggie ice cream is available.

Was there for a funeral so can't give a normal day experience. Whilst I was there I found the staff to be very pleasant, Superb beer garden and the grub looks good.... Give it a go and find out for yourself.

Very disappointed after checking the menu on their website chose The Bull because it had steak and 2 fish options. Sadly they no longer do steaks so chose the pork loin. Nothing special so won't be going back. Lovely pub though, beautiful garden but quiet.

Third time here, very good meal, lovely "Pub Grub" and freindly staff. They do great pies too! Easy parking!

Been there twice, and both times we've left disappointed, first time, no gas,and charged a fortune for cans, 2nd time, we arrived at 2.27 and they stopped cooking at 2.30....they wouldn't feed us, we won't be going back.

Didn't get a chance to try the food, got there at 2.27 and kitchen closed at 2.30. Only thing I will say is the garden is nice. Kitchen only opens for 2 hrs for lunch and the same for evening meals.

So pleased we found this place! Great selection of dishes... wide variety of home made pies, steaks, burgers, pub classics and different salads. Staff were friendly without fawning and a lovely atmosphere. Great prices too...£120 for table of 5 adults, including desserts and drinks. Will certainly be returning

Turned up just after 1 o' clock, they allowed us to order drinks and pay for them. When we asked to order food, we were told the kitchen couldn't take our order as they were too busy even though they served food until 14.30. Shocking treatment. Would not go back, taking my custom elsewhere.

I came for a meal at 6:08pm (they don’t serve food until 6) just me my partner and out baby. To be told that they won’t have a table for my until 6:30pm there was literally no more than 3 tables indoors taken. Wasn’t even offered to have a drink and wait there for one. This place felt very unwelcoming for someone on there holidays and not a local.

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with a smile. All staff were brilliant, friendly and totally professional. The food was delicious and the ambiance was spot on. It was our first visit to The Bull Inn and we will definitely be back. Overall Good food, very friendly staff. Well recommended to all

Quite disappointing really, fish and chips ok, steak and ale pie was also ok but quite a small portion and the vegetarian pasta was awful, overcooked and the sauce was watery and lacked any flavour. Shame as I had been expecting far better judging by other reviews.

I stank of stale cooking oil when I left , won't return it felt tired and grubby bar staff were lovely .

Went up yesterday for a roast dinner, the food came out lots of veg and meat myself and my husband had roast beef the meat was so nice and cut thicker than before real nice taste , and very filling . Such a nice friendly and warm atmosphere like the good old days of pubs . Def will be back for Sunday roast again

Had a Saturday evening meal with family, most of us had pie with various fillings, and nobody disappointed. Also popped in for for a lunch on a rare day off. Smaller portions of some of the main meals are prefect size for lunch. Looking forward to using the beer garden in the summer.

A cold damp February saw us pay a visit to to the wonderful Bull Inn . No bull here ,just real honest home cooking at its very tasty best . Greeted by the smart polite barman and shown to our booked table, which i strongly recommend you do in advance, its so popular . THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE WANT .Good portions ,tasty ,well cooked , clean . Had my favourite , Bacon n Onion Rolly Polly Pudding . Home made Sherry Trifle not to be missed . Pauline AKA The Butterfly still leading her first class team . The menu is extensive , if it was not for the 130 mile round trip i would be there everyday !! Next visit Sausage n Black Pudding Pie . Well done to all .

Firstly, I would have liked the option to leave a 'Good' rating instead of 'Average' but this option was not available on TripAdvisor. All I seem to have heard from various members of my family and friends is how outstanding the Bull is, particularly for their food and service so was really looking forward to having lunch here today. Unfortunately, I didn't think it was as great as everyone else seems to. I ordered the roast, which was OK, but nothing to rave about-the portions were underwhelming, the meat wasn't great with very thin slices and this has got to be the first time I have been served a frozen yorkshire pudding with a roast dinner in a pub. The vegetables were overcooked, but the gravy was very nice. At around £10 the value for money was good, but I would have preferred to pay a bit more and have a bigger portion with better quality meat and a homemade yorkshire- or an option to pay for a bigger portion. I left the pub still hungry, which is also a first after having a roast at a pub! The interior of the pub itself is very nice and they have a lovely big beer garden and lots of parking, but the restaurant was freezing cold- a few of us had to put our coats on at the table! The service was OK, the lady behind the bar was great but the waiting staff seemed a bit annoyed and seeing as I have heard how wonderful the service is, again I was underwhelmed. When I saw the chef smoking outside I made an effort to thank him and he seemed really fed up! I really should stress that out of quite a lot of us at the table, only myself and one other member of our party felt underwhelmed-everyone else with us thought the Bull, the food and the service was outstanding so hope some of them will leave a glowing review based on their personal experience as this was the experience of most of us- perhaps it was just a personal thing on my behalf. So don't be discouraged from going- as I say, the rest of our party absolutely loved the food and I don't doubt will continue to go and recommend to others.

Went there for the first time with friends. The chef there couldn’t have been more helpful. I am coeliac and can’t have lactose. He came out of the kitchen and discussed options for me. I ate a good meal there with no problems, always a worry for me when I try somewhere new. Would recommend for fellow coeliacs.

Visited the Bull Inn on 15/01/2023 . Upon arrival our party of four was greeted and attended to immediately by a lovely waitress who sat us at our table which we did pre book. I had already decided previously what I was going to choose from the menu as been to the Bull previously but noticed that they were still doing a Xmas set menu. I did over hear the waitress advise another party that this menu needed to be pre booked but she also advised that she would check with the chef to see if there were any spare , luckily there were so I asked the same question and glad I did. The turkey was absolutely beautiful and such generous portion as well as generous portions of three seasonal vegetables for all of our party and the chef also gave us an extra dish of vegetables which all were beautifully cooked and most welcomed. There was so much choice on the menu so something for everyone as well as lighter lunches if required. We also had beautiful desserts which I totally recommend . Prices are so reasonable and food is beautifully cooked and presented beautifully also. Thank you for making us so welcome and also forgot to mention on how quick we were served our meals, amazing for such a busy popular restaurant/pub. We will definitely be back.

Had the sausage an onion pie dish, everything was ok until I started eating an the pie which was only Luke warm at a push (the chips were piping hot). Now I politely asked if I could have my pie hotter in which they took my meal and brought it back out again, trouble is they warmed it up in the microwave, which not only made everything taste soggy an piping hot but ruined the chips too, that was on the plate. If only they had removed the pie an warmed separately that the meal would of been fine, I just thought it was an in correct way of doing it. I may be wrong, genuinely if the whole meal was reheated in an oven, then the gravy would have a skin on the top, so I'm assuming the plate was microwaved (could be wrong). I won't be coming here again, sorry. Other then that the waitress was great an was polite an apologetic an the beer was good to. Pricing wise, I'd say a little over priced when looking at the quality of whats been served, especially the children's meals.
