The Bull in Worthing

Booked a table on a Tuesday evening for some out of town family and friends, as a small get together before a big event the next day. We arrived promptly and was directed to our table by Annie at the bar who was quick with our drink order while we waited for the rest of our party. When everyone had arrived, Caris was very prompt and friendly with supplying menu and giving us some time to look. Once we had all ordered food, we were sat chatting but didn't wait long for all our food to arrive. All food came out perfect and there was lots of compliments oh the food especially from two of my party that had the pies. I myself had a beautifully cooked sirloin steak and was cooked to absolute perfection. High compliments were sent to both Jay and Ruby in the kitchen that evening, for there quick service of our meals. We did finish our meals with some puddings and hot drink and were very stuffed at the end of it. My party all enjoyed their food so much that there was talks of coming back in the near future. Highly recommended for food and service.

We've come here for years as it's local to us. However since the new menu that was brought out last year, every single I've tried to come here to give it another chance, they never have any of the vegetarian choice I've made. This is the 7th time it has happened. I don't know why they advertise so many vegetarian options when they have never been able to deliver. It looks so promising and you're let down. It would be better on arrival if they told you what wasn't available so we could walk away, but we order a drink and then wait a ridiculous amount of time for the order to be taken, to be told our choice isn't on the menu. A lot of the time even the meat dishes. It's ridiculous now, and this is the last time we're bothering coming here. Such a shame as it is so promising with the location and gorgeous building, but the food choice lets it down, even though the menu looks like it has a plethora of choice. If they can't provide the meals advertised, take them off the menu!

Well …. Christmas menu with friends Waiting for over 2 hrs for our mains. The duty manager was great but the pre organised booking clearly not ! When the food arrived it was not great, the roast potatoes looked undercooked and looked like they had just had a visit to the microwave.

Fabulous Sunday Lunch yesterday (8th December 2024) the food was amazing, the service was amazing, lovely staff. We are booked in for Christmas Day and cannot wait to return !!

Been many times before over the years with no complaint. Staff just wanted you out asap so they could close early. Door was bolted behind us as we left at 9.30pm even though there were several customers still inside!! Have since heard others say they have experienced similar where staff have closed early.

Booked well ahead for family of 7, wed arrived early and said happy to wait but told we can stay, ended up seeing our table near the bar, was very busy. We ordered at our booked time, they messed up the order and did took an hour, when chased the manager was very rude and kept saying we were there early ones and it’s done in order, no apologies or rolls or anything to keep us going. When did did finally arrived it was cold and seemed the RBs off everything, stodgy and bland and one wrong meal . The manager stood shouting our order out from the bar saying they were right. Very poor customer service and not a good experience to celebrate a family event. No apologies for the rudeness except from embarrassed waitress. Only bonus was it was cheap! Def not worth the feeling of being very unwelcome and inconveniencing them with our business!

The service was fabulous, the waitresses were friendly and helpful. But the food wasn’t so good. All the parsnips were really tough to cut and eat. The stuffing was hard. The pastry on the wellington was too hard to eat. It was such a shame, I have been coming to this pub for years and I have to say it was the worst meal I have had. The deserts were better but they had fun out of trifle by 12.30pm.

Disappointed with the meal as everything was very dry and overcooked. Unfortunately it’s not the first time we have not been happy here. Will definitely give it a miss for a while in the hope it will improve. The restaurant wasn’t even busy. Previous occasion was the food didn’t come out warm enough despite meals being sent back twice. Again restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Yes we did receive money off last time for our complaints but it just ruins our experience and isn’t any consolation really. Let’s hope things get better as I would really want that being that you’re just round the corner from where I live.

Had a great meal last night of pork belly. Beautifully cooked and exceeded my expectations. The staff were friendly and efficient. Will be back.

Booked a table for lunch with friends were offered a selection of tables on arrival however no menus offered even though booked for meal and drinks. Had to ask for menus when I went to the bar for drinks. On ordering food from the lunch menu which you would assume would be swift we had to wait at least 45 minutes for three toasted sandwiches and fishcakes, despite asking three times when the food would be coming to be told the restaurant was busy. We then noticed several meals on the bar for a long period, when we asked we were told they were waiting for all the meals to be ready before bringing to the tables and as they only had one sandwich maker it took time. Eventually the meals were delivered before the final sandwich was ready and of course the sandwiches were cold and the egg with the fishcake very over cooked which was replaced with a hot egg but still overcooked. The sandwiches were very much overcooked. When we said the food was not good the comment appeared to be ignored and no apology was offered when paying. We have been to this pub a number of occasions and this is our worst experienced. I felt embarrassed and had to apologise to our friends when it should have been the staff apologising.

This was our first trip to The Bull, as our friends have just moved into the area and we were looking for a regular place to meet up. Plenty of parking, a good atmosphere, and a choice of slightly different pub grub at very reasonable prices. The service was very efficient and our young waitress was delightful. We ate in the dining room but there is also a very large beer garden. We will be back.

We went for a family roast last Sunday and we were looked after exceptionally from the start. Niall and Heidi plus their team were friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious and the service excellent! Highly recommend!

We received a warm welcome from Tia despite arriving much earlier than our booking time. She was very friendly throughout and was very flexible with minor changes to our orders. My sirloin steak was excellent as was the peppercorn and brandy sauce. The desserts were nicely presented , particularly the Rose Panna cotta. Well done everyone.

Booked a table for 5 People 4.00 pm on a Saturday afternoon. Have to say everything about our visit was just perfect the food arrived hot and deliciously cooked. All the staff were impeccably dressed & very attentive nothing was to much trouble for any of them . We shall definitely be returning in the not to distant future. Well done everyone 👏

This is our second visit to The Bull, again it didn't disappoint. We were looked after by Jess and Mollie and we decided on the Sunday roast. My partner chose the slow cooked rib of beef on the bone.. The meat was so tender and came with all the traditional vegetables..My choice of the Roast pork was delicious, the meat again very tender and again plenty of traditional vegetables...Just a word of warning the selection of desserts are worth leaving room for.. I can recommend the Vanilla cheesecake... Mollie I'm so sorry to have split my glass of water.....

What a great place. This is a perfect place to visit for food and drinks. The staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you. The food is tasty & well presented. In addition it was not expensive! I highly recommend this establishment.

We had a family buffet for 50 people the food was excellent staff were friendly drinks were reasonable every one had an enjoyable afternoon would definitely recommend The Bull .

We went here for my birthday treat. A very warm greeting from Niall and Heidi and the other staff who served us. The pub was lovely and warm with very pretty Christmas decorations. The food was excellent. We had the 2 course Christmas Menu. Couldn't fault it. Would definitely recommend the pub and will certainly be back. Well done to you all in turning the pub into a great place to visit.

We had a room reserved for my granddaughters, 21st birthday party not knowing that there was a child ban after 9 pm so my friends teenage children had to leave which sort of spoiled things. So if you like socialising with old people after 9 pm, it’s a great place

Went for Sunday Lunch had a great roast & excellent service our waitress was Mollie & she was excellent & couldn’t do enough for us.

We had heard great things about the food here so decided to give it a go and we were not disappointed! 6 humans and 3 dogs were accommodated without any fuss and we had a lovely large table in the bar area. It was a sunday so most of us had a starter of creamy mushrooms and the trio roast while my partner went for the mushrooms to start and ham hock pie. All our meals were delicious and the staff were friendly, polite and attentive. The place itself is lovely with plenty of space and dog friendly which is a must for us! The Christmas decorations made it even more cozy. We can’t wait to go back and try more items from the menu!

Myself and my partner have just started visiting The Bull and love the welcoming atmosphere, we find the pub very cosy and had our first roast there yesterday, our meal was delicious, I would highly recommend. They also serve new Zealand Sauvignon which is a bonus for me 😊

Had a lovely Sunday roast here at the weekend. Vastly improved by the new owners. We avoided this place before because the food & service was not good, which was annoying because it was our closest pub! Well, pleased to say we weren’t disappointed this time! Lots of families on both visits. Nice to see. Good choice on menus. Service was as good on the 2nd visit as the first. Recommended.

And the staff are super, too! Seriously - good menu range, inc non-carnivorous, allergics, etc. Splendid range of drinks. Charming staff, visiting dogs welcome, sit in or out. Will be going again soon. Niall and Heidi are magnificent hosts, Tia and Molly looked after us brilliantly: helpful, efficient, and fun. 100% recommended.

Sunday lunch. Booked an early table in restaurant. Good, because restaurant and garden soon became full. Excellent meal (friends steak a perfect medium rare). Served by Tia and Molly, bright, cheerful and helpful. Have been before and will come again. Recommended.

Visitor for the first time in ages with a group of friends. What a difference since the new owners have taken over. Excellent service really lovely good. Wonderful evening had by all. We will definitely be returning.

Had a really nice meal selected from a very good menu. Place busy, families, couples, groups of friends, all relaxed. Staff were attentive and efficient. Highly recommended!

My friends and I stopped using the Bull just over a year ago because of poor service but we decided to give them another chance . We wrong it was worse , real ales all out of stock coffee machine for the driver switched off...

Superb food and great hosts, they know everyone's names, which makes for a lovely atmosphere. I wish the landlords every success they deserve it. Do not listen to other reviews, they swayed our view before we came, not fair.
