The Bugle Inn in Eastleigh

Great little pub, dog friendly. Lots of choices on the menu. I only wish they had some spicy sauce available like peri-peri or hot sauce as I like that with my food. Service is excellent and very welcoming. I’d return soon.

Checked out the menu & pricing online, came out tops compared to nearby competition. Menu choice was excellant, service was superb, food quality good & portions generous. Free parking across the road. Will most definatley be going there again!

We went there for Sunday lunch on Mother's day. It was really busy as mother's day but this did not hinder the service at all. The staff had everything so organised, the carvery was done in tables so there weren't big queues, staff were so friendly and helpful and most of all the food was delicious! Would thoroughly recommend The Bugle Inn!!!

Google Maps thinks I want to review the rooms in the hotel but I want to review the pub. I had heard good things about the food; this pub has changed hands frequently over the past 20 years, even being closed for awhile. My wife and I went for lunch today, 1st March 2024. We arrived about 1.30 and there were plenty of tables. The staff were friendly and welcoming. (The only slight drawback was we had to wait to catch their attention both to order dessert and to ask for the bill but we were in no rush.) My wife had cottage pie and I had steak and ale pie. Both were excellent and served piping hot. For dessert, my wife had ice cream and I had the chocolate and caramel cake, which was really, really good. Bonus: 25% off main meals for over 65s Monday through Friday, except Bank Holidays.

Popped in today for the Sunday roast and i must say it was delicious. Great choice of meats and all the vegetables cooked to perfection! This local pub has taken on a new lease of life under the new management, we'll be back next weekend, thoroughly recommended!

Visited on Sunday just gone. Last minuet decision after a walk and so glad this is where we ended up. Every single member of staff was so friendly and welcoming. Carvery was lush. Will recommend it in the future. :)

Visited The Bugle in Botley tonight for a meal and some drinks. What a revelation!! A fantastic welcome from the manageress and attentive service from her daughter who was waitressing - she was cute as a button and made us feel very much at home. Good food, good atmosphere and can’t wait to hear Lil perform when the karaoke evenings start up!!Will definitely be back soon.

Shocked by some of the reviews on here, especially with no pics to share info. so i wanted to give ours. We came here last Tuesday night 27th October for dinner at 7.30pm . There was two other tables in for food. . We was served by a polite man called Nathan, who wore a face shield as required. He also checked we had signed in on the NHS app and brought the qr code to the table, he was also on the bar, so juggling a bit and did well we thought to remember and be attentive..The Starters, mains and puds were tasty, well sized and served hot. We did have to have the bill adjusted due to a incorrect drinks chaege, but this was a easy thing to correct. Our server did have to keep prompting other customers to use masks when moving, I think this was down to just general forgetting, as they was drinking. I saw tables being cleaned In a timeley manner, and sanitized appropriately by the staff which was good to witness.The bugle is not a chain pub and I think this is where people.are confused with the menu and prices. Also the dolphin is a chain so the menu and food is the same in the other locals we usually eat at. I for one was very happy with the food as detailed in the menu and happy with the prices, especially as the meat is from a high quality local.butchers Owtons and.fresh local veg from The Hut. This is detailed and highlighted on their Facebook page, which attracted us to eat there in the first place..I do think some of these reviews are fake as they don't match up to our recent visit at all. Very unfair and shows poor businessmanship.We shall return Bugle. I have my sights set on trying the creme.brulee next.

We didn't find The Bugle Inn in Botley particularly friendly or attentive to us, we left as no one was interested in taking an order for food, also there were some locals in the dog friendly bar side of the pub who were swearing quite a lot, one to avoid if you have kids, maybe!( stayed overnight on a Tuesday and unfortunately the higher rated pub The Dolphin is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays)

manager treated staff like dirt, the woman was really rude. Ordered a roast however was way overpriced for what it was. It was too loud and drinks was overpriced too. Luckily the lovely waitresses were lovley and helped as much as they could. Booked a table but someone was already sat in it when we got there, very unprofessional. Shame as we used to love this place but ever since it’s gone under new management it’s gone seriously downhill - DONT GO HERE

We booked a table for 7pm and the bar staff were confused as to what table. The place was packed and it immediately felt uncomfortable with the latest Covid rules.We waited 20 minutes to place a drink order the girl who came to our table couldn’t tell us what was on draught, so we donned masks to go and have a look, squeezing our way through too many tables.We placed our order and waited....and waited. Eventually one of our 4 went to the bar to see if there was a problem. The girl then returned saying she was so busy she hadn’t forgotten our order so she took it again.Then one of the pints of Prava was flat, we got it replaced, drank our drinks and left.We retreated to the dolphin where we had booked a table for 8.30pm, arriving at 8 we were met pleasantly and given our table in perfect controlled Covid friendly environment.Give the Bugle a miss, go to the Dolphin.

Tenemos la suerte de haber visitado muchos pubs, restaurantes, locales de alojamiento desde el cierre y TODOS fueron responsables de las pautas de Covid en torno a sus propiedades. El sábado visitamos un pub local, las pautas eran simples: "Ponte la máscara y siéntate sin máscara". El Bugle en Botley hoy fue todo lo contrario, fue terrible. Había un grupo de 8 en la habitación trasera caminando por el pub e incluso detrás de la barra no había una máscara a la vista. Era evidente que eran bien conocidos por el personal o incluso podrían haber sido miembros del personal.Un completo desprecio por las pautas sociales y el uso de máscaras en un lugar público.Controle y haga cumplir las pautas, ya que está poniendo en riesgo a todos los clientes, no volveremos.

He estado en el Bugle Inn varias veces y cada ocasión ha sido completamente agradable.Los propietarios, el gerente, el chef y el personal son personas realmente agradables, conversadores y ansiosos por hacerte sentir bienvenido y como en casa.La comida es de alta calidad y muy sabrosa, ¡el chef realmente hace un esfuerzo adicional!Buena selección de bebidas.El edificio es maravillosamente antiguo, bien mantenido y muy limpio, una experiencia muy relajante.Magníficas precauciones de higiene y COVID.Hay mucho estacionamiento gratuito al otro lado de la carretera, en caso de que las bahías afuera estén llenas.¡Vale la pena un viaje especial!También hay mucho que ver en Botley y el área local.¡Recomiendo encarecidamente el Bugle Inn!

Comimos bistec sirlion, venía con unas ramitas de berro encima, media chalota, un tazón de patatas fritas y un dedal lleno de salsa por la costosa suma de 24. 50. por persona.Porque decía ensalada de berros esperaba más que una ramita de berros.Pedimos un medio raro y el otro medio, estaba muy azul, estaba frío y les pedí que lo cocinaran un poco más.Solo una porción de papas fritas llegó a la mesa y no salsas. Tuvimos que pedir patatas fritas y salsas.Nuestra tercera fiesta es pescatarion y la elección fue muy, muy mala. Segunda opción para una cena dominical en Botley, ya que la primera estaba cerrada porque no había cocinero. Quedé satisfecho con nuestra alternativa ya que las cenas eran apetitosas y satisfactorias. Todo el personal parecía ser muy joven pero muy amable y eficiente. El Inn estaba muy tranquilo, posiblemente debido al clima o al hecho de que llegamos temprano.

Randomly stopped yesterday for a drink, friendly Landlord and staff so went back for food which didn't disappoint. Good variety of food, decent size portions which were hot and very tasty. Lovely atmosphere.

Nice little pub. Food is ok but everytime we have been the wine had been warm even though been in fridge. Not really acceptable. Even asked before ordering I asked if wine was cold and told it's been in fridge. Ice literally melted within a minute they we put in.

Been past this pub 100 times but was starving last night and decided to stop!! Quite busy but lots of tables and very welcoming. I didn’t think it was that cosy but we went for the food!!Had the mussels which were very yummy but also a lot of butter in the sauce! And I had the burger which was nice. The food was good. I will stop again but will try other places first. Staff were very good and very friendly.

Stayed here in September and had a lovely stay with an amazing breakfast. Came again for dinner recently and the food was outstanding. Would highly recommend.

We used to frequent the bugle quite a lot but it started to go downhill so when we heard new owners took over we thought give them a go phoned to book a table said they were busy the night and time we wanted to book which was ok because it was near Christmas said phone me back well they phoned me the next day about 12pm and said could we come at seven again that was ok arrived at ten to seven a bit of a wait as there was only one person behind the bar ordered drinks at bar the waited for waiter to come and take our orders a group of seven in front of us waiter was very good made doublely sure of our order a bit of a wait for our starters but again food is prepared fresh so we expected and it does state on the menu about the wait starters were good slight wait for mains but worth waiting for two mixed grills two chicken Supremes one burger and one pie all very good tasty and more than enough no one had a dessert very good slight down fall a bit noisy but it's near Christmas all round can recomend the bugle

Ran into this place by accident. It's in the Botley village near the other other merchants. Very quaint and feels like you're a regular there. Staff is amazing. Ordered the fish and chips. Excellent choice. Best we've ever had.

I've been to this establishment quite a lot recently and it's fast becoming a favourite. The staff are very friendly, the food is reasonably priced all home cooked good portions and absolutely wonderful.

Este pub se ha mantenido como un auténtico pub británico desde la primera vez que lo visité, probablemente hace 40 años. El propietario y la señora actuales son personas encantadoras y el personal comparte su calidez y buen humor. No hace falta decir que las bebidas eran excelentes, al igual que el catering. ¡Gracias a Dios que todavía tenemos lugares reales como este para ir cuando más los necesitamos!

Four of us went for a lunch today and wow were we pleased. The landlady was a very genial host. The main courses were beautifully cooked, served hot on hot plates. The deserts were also a delight. Very reasonably priced and we will visit again.

Proporcionaron una cena asada para 16 personas, carne sabrosa y muchas verduras deliciosas, todas cortadas deliciosas y calientes. Best Bit no nos apuraron, pudimos tomar nuestro tiempo y disfrutar del día.

lovely little pub! good food, friendly staff. wasn’t overly in love with my food 👎🏼but the others enjoyed theirs. I had macoroni cheese, it was very runny. drinks were expensive too but tasted good!

We have visited this lovely local pub many times for lunch and dinner on different occasions. Lorraine and Paul are just the nicest people and fantastic hosts. We love their Sunday roasts and when it’s Jazz Sunday, even better! Love this place and mine hosts! Nick and Jacqui.

My son got his first job so we decided to take him out for a meal before he headed off to London.

What a fabulous lunch we had yesterday! We were made so welcome by Paul the manager. The food was fresh and piping hot. The pie of the day was chicken, ham and leek and was scrumptious! Packed full and perfectly crisp and buttery pastry. A lovely selection of vegetables and the chips were the best I’ve had in a very long time. Great value, you definitely get what you pay for. We we so delighted to find The Bugle serving food on a Monday when many restaurants close.

Visited on a weekday evening .the place was spotless. The music was pleasant and not too loud so you could hold a conversation easily .I did not eat but I saw three meals pass me and they looked wonderful.goid selection of soft drinks and the barman was very polite friendly and efficient

This was our first visit to the Bugle. The food was a little over priced but there was a lot more selection on the menu then we expected so that’s a plus. If you are visiting for the roast I would go for the large as you get 2 selection choices of meat as to 1 choice if you go for the normal roast. A good selection of vegetables intact all the food was good. Set in a little high street in Botley and the atmosphere inside was welcoming, definitely worth a second visit.

The Bugle Inn was highly recommend to us as we normally eat at the Dolphin across the road. Nine of us went there on a lunch time for my wife's birthday. It wasn't busy which was a little surprising, however most of us ordered from the day special menu. Starters were good soup and smoked salmon salad. Main course three of us had was pork medallion we expected the skin to be cracklin unfortunately it wasn't. The waiter whilst very friendly wasn't sure which the homemade pie of the day was which I thought he should have know, plus one order was wrong. I had fruit crumble for dessert and custard while it was nice the small dish was full of crumble and there was no room for the custard so pouring the custard on to the crumble was impossible as it ran onto the plate so you couldn't mix the two together, I suggest they have larger dishes for the crumble. All in all while we enjoyed the food in my view a couple of things need changing to make it a better then my average mark.

I've eaten and drunk in here many times over the years and I have to say....why do I bother. It's horribly overpriced both for food but especially for drinks...in particular soft drinks ... I pity the designated driver. Worst of all though the landlord....rude offhand and generally so full of self importance it hurts.

From the moment we walked in we were made really welcome by the lady behind the bar she was extremely busy but made sure every one was looked after we actually thought it was her pub till we spoke to her and she told us she just worked there we definitely will return in the future and the food was very tasty lovely atmosphere and your staff are a credit to the bugle

My husband and I came here last night for dinner after reading the great reviews on trip advise. We weren’t disappointed. As soon as we walked through the door we were acknowledged by the friendly bar staff. We sat outside on the lovely patio at the back of the pub and had a drink while looking at the menu.. The food was lovely best chips I’ve had for ages! Again the lady bringing our food was so friendly and funny too! We will be back!

We've been staying here with Paul and Lou for the last 4 weeks while working in the area.

My husband had the pan fried rainbow trout fillets. His response was to say this is the best meal I’ve ever had here!!

Quite a nice pub with really friendly staff. We went on Father’s Day and you could upgrade to a large Sunday roast for free!For the standard roast you get one protein choice, the large roast gives you a choice of two, from beef, pork, chicken, gammon or the veggie option. Between us we covered everything except the beef. They all went down well apart from my gammon which was very fatty. We had a great selection of vegetables which were all well cooked including cauliflower cheese. We also got 4 roast potatoes not the industry standard 3. The vegetarian in our party was very happy with the veggie option. The disabled toilet is accessed through a wide doorway but unfortunately they have put a large baby changing table in there which would make it impossible for wheelchair users to navigate the space. The judgement, not bad at all, better than expected.

Nice seating area in the conservatory; tables put together for ten....... nit-pickin' but only ONE menu & 2 x child menu (!) to hand.

Have visited the Bugle Inn, Botley three times now. Nice atmosphere, really great menu with specials board. The White bait starter is fab plus the Shredded Chilli for main.

Buena relación calidad precio pub tradicional. El servicio es amable con una sonrisa y una risa lanzada con una amplia selección de cervezas, cervezas y bebidas populares. Estuve aquí con un grupo de amigos en una tarde a mitad de semana. Algunos de nosotros estábamos comiendo, pero no todos, pero había espacio para sentarnos y charlar informalmente juntos. 3 of us had a faultless roast beef lunch. I live locally and invited friends from Hillhead and Gosport. All loved it.

La comida es casera ya nuestros huéspedes les encantó, no quedaba nada, ¡era tan bueno! Las bebidas fluyeron realmente bien en el bar y el ambiente era encantador y servicial! ¡Altamente recomendado!

Queríamos comer algo el domingo por la noche, pero el bar estaba vacío y cuando pedimos algo para comer respondieron que no hay más comida para nosotros. Lamentablemente no fue escrito en internet. Nos mandaron al restaurante Dolphin, pero hubo lo mismo.

Went for dinner with my daughter and had a superb time.Customer service by ALL STAFF was top notch and the food was extremely tasty.All in all an excellent visit.

After walking the dog we popped in to the Bugle for breakfast, as we had found it was dog friendly, which it was with dog treats on the bar. We ordered a cooked breakfast, which was second to none! fresh ingredients, freshly (and properly!!) cooked, all served up with a great mug of tea by the landlord who was friendly and helpful. if this is the standard of all their food we will defiantly be back soon!

Ive never been taken out for mothers day and my mother in law has very recently been widowed. My other half wanted to treat us all. After asking for recommendations. The Bugle kept being suggested. Never been here before so we decided to give it a go. Very easy to book through the Facebook page. We were a little bit early but it wasn't a problem. The service was 5* and so was the food. And most importantly my mother in law had a lovely day . So thank you Bugle inn. We shall be back.

Visited here for a 60th party. Lovely location and the food was delicious. Staff were really friendly and helpful. A brilliant venue for any celebration.

Haven’t been here for some time but had a warm welcome from Michelle and staff. Had a great meal all freshly prepared. Mustn’t forget the great selection of gins😎we’ll be back 😀

We popped in for lunch with our 2 week old baby, very relaxing atmosphere. All the staff were very helpful especially Alex behind the bar, we ordered the steak & a sandwich, they were both beautifully fresh and very delicious. We will definitely be returning, many thanks!!

Visited the Bugle last Saturday evening. The Bugle Inn has a good atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was excellent.

When you’re having a business lunch that could go either way, the last thing you want to do is worry about the food. Thankfully when I come to The Bugle I never have to worry about the food. The service was perfect and Lou produced a great meal again! Thank you to everyone at The Bugle.

Visited on Valentine’s Day at lunch time, went in for the ‘Hot drink & Cake’ offer for £4. Lady behind bar advised us that they had run out of cake the day before.....at which point we should’ve left & visited one of the cafes or another pub in the square. There is a convenience store next door & cafes nearby, could cake supplies not be bought in? To me this shows a sign of poor planning.

Had a late booking for Sunday lunch for 9 of us to celebrate father-in-laws birthday. Love coming here as the food is always homemade and served hot. Everyone's food came out together so none of us left awkwardly waiting. Four had the beef, four had the pork and one had gammon. Lou and Paul only source locally and Lou cooks everything from fresh. The food was superb and the portions were generous. We were served extra gravy and large portions of side vegetables as well as the vegetables already on our plates. The price is so reasonable £10.95 each, can't get better than that! A favourite of ours, and we are never disappointed!

We had a superb evening at The Bugle eating delicious food ( served on hot plates which makes a difference ) - love the Friday fish and chip menu. The staff looked after us all providing an attentive service, thank you.

We entered through the bar door and walked around to the restaurant area where there were menus on the tables. After choosing our meals we went to the bar and ordered our drinks before asking for our meal choices. We were told that we couldn’t eat as it was gone 14.30. By my iPhone it was 14.31. I believe that as we had walked to the restaurant area we should have been advised to order any food quickly. There were only three or four people on the bar so the staff must have noticed us. When we went to order if we had been advised to order food first then we would have achieved this by 14.30 but instead the barmaid poured a glass of wine and made a lime and soda - which took a few minutes. Maybe we should have refused to pay for the drinks as we wanted them with our food, but we did pay and drank them quickly before going to a pub where food was still being served.

We came here over the Christmas period for a family meal, our table was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. The staf there were very friendly and welcoming and took the time to talk us through the menus and advise us in advance of the items which were not available (due to Christmas delivery times and how busy they had been).

Visited yesterday for roast lunch. We had muddled our pre-order but staff cheerfully accommodated last minute change. Lunch was well priced and turkey option was delicious. Plenty of freshly cooked veg and cranberry sauce. Waitress checked on us a couple of times while we were eating to make sure we had everything we wanted. Excellent service throughout our visit. Highly recommended.

Had dinner in the Bible with my three teenage sons. Pub was very busy however the food was great, with the mixed grill taking top spot for one of the lads, we also had homemade pie, macaroni cheese and sausages and mash.

We visited the Bugle to see a friend's band playing, and dined there to ensure a seat, for the evening. The food was most acceptable, and ranged from the usual pub provender, to the slightly more varied; all the comments were favourable. The beer, however, was nothing short of excellent. Here is a Landlord, who clearly knows how to keep and serve ale properly. If there was a criticism, it would be to remind any less experienced staff, that a pint of beer, means just that, not seven eighths. That was easily remedied, and it was a very busy night. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

La camarera vino a tomar nuestro pedido, les pregunté si tenían un menú para niños y ella falló en el primer obstáculo. . . ella tuvo que ir y comprobar? ! Pedimos nuestra comida y tardamos bastante tiempo en llegar, de nuevo una buena señal. Me decepcionó un poco cuando llegó, para ser honesto. La carne era muy dura, tenía una enorme chirivía que, como temía, no estaba bien hecha. Compraron un tazón de verduras mixtas en la mesa que parecía que estaba destinado a algunos conejillos de indias, básicamente zanahoria y repollo casi crudos. El ambiente y los alrededores eran geniales, pero la comida decepcionante.

Mi esposa y yo decidimos probar este lugar con vistas a regresar con un grupo de personas. Inicialmente, nuestra intención era ir como parte de un grupo de cuatro personas, pero el día, debido a una enfermedad, fuimos por nuestra cuenta.

Visité antes de ir a la hermosa italiana al otro lado de la carretera, así que estaba en un traje elegante y olía encantador.

Had a lovely meal here on 12th September while staying in the area. The chips were nice and dry and lovely and crispy. the scampi was cooked beautifully and tasted really good. They very kindly substituted sausages instead of an egg in the ham eggs and chips for my husband who does not eat eggs. The ham looked lovely and the portions were big. My husband could not eat all of his ham, they were thick slices, I tried a bit of his ham and it tasted really good. We don't eat fancy food so this was just right for us. Would recommend if you like food that is well cooked and good quality.

We eat at the Bugle a few times a month. Always good quality home cooked food. Good portions so make sure you go hungry! Sunday dinner is amazing. Amazing gin selection. Live this pub. And they let our dog in the bar area too. So nice to have a good meal and be able to take the pooch. Fully reccomend.

We were looking for a late lunch August Bank holiday Monday. Most pubs were taking orders until 2pm. This was the only one that specifically stated on their website that the kitchen was open til 4pm. We pitched up at 3.40 and ordered no problem. Very impressed with their food. At twenty quid a head including two rounds of drink each very good value. Son in law - who is a Burger King- said the beef - rarebit/ bacon burger was the best he has had. I had the home made chicken and chorizo pie- made by the Landlirds Wife with a proper bottom and sides- and daughter had sausage and mash wit OH having ham eggs and chips. All outstanding for the price. Well done Bugle. Landlord cheeky- and a bit handsome!!

We decided to have lunch here after wedding dress shopping and it was the perfect end to the day. I had the chicken and fig salad and am glad I didn't have the large portion as would never have managed it, delicious. Only criticism was the service was a tad slow but the staff were really friendly and welcoming.

My husband and I eat here tonight; our intention was to go to the Italian next door. The food was amazing!! As everything is fresh and home made, I changed my favourite dish to the exact way I liked it and it was no trouble! The owner told me all the ingredients they had in the fridge and said I could add any. True home made food! Service to match! Could not recommend this unsuspecting but incredible place enough!

This is a great village pub which offers a particularly good selection of homemade food. We especially loved the piggy platter! Friendly welcome from Paul & Lou with the added bonus that it’s dog friendly too! Looking forward to the next gin tasting evening there!
