Miller and Carter in Eastleigh

Arrived on time and was seated fairly promptly but certainly not the best table in the house hence asked to be moved. Was hoping to relax and read the menu but was asked far too many times what we wanted for drinks but eventually decided on the premium bottle of Malbec at circa £33. The waitress returned with 2 glasses and the bottle already opened which raised concern and when I tasted it it was clearly corked and it was probably sent back by someone else I suspect. Mrs Smellyworth also had a sip and then looked for a portion of chips to pour it on as it really was that bad. Once we did get a bottle of rioja we were still "pestered"about ordering more drinks despite still having half a bottle left. We both would have liked the £100 sharing platter but we're told the Mac and cheese couldn't be changed out for something different so went for the surf and turf instead. Starters of squid and scallops were good as was the steak but the apple and damson crumble isn't the best .. £154 later we left feeling disappointed about the total lack of knowledge the staff had with regards to how to serve wine and some training of staff wouldn't go a miss. I would add that the toilets were shabby, no hot water and leaking urinals with a light fitting hanging out of the tiny WC cubicle and given the condition of these it makes you wonder how hygienic the kitchens are.

Went on Saturday to Miller & Carter in Bursledon with a pre booked party of 8 which had two children. Initially crammed on a table not giving elbow room so asked our waiter Jake to be moved and he pulled out all the stops to ensure we had sufficient seating arrangement. Overall, the steaks were cooked to our satisfaction. Only real complaint is lack of veg on plate with one sixth of a tomato and small amount of peppercorn in pot. The service was otherwise impeccable, Jake couldn't do enough, was very polite and attentive. A credit to Miller & Carter. Only bad note some of the furniture appeared rather tired .

Great service as usual excellent food couldn't fault it. Never had a bad meal. That's why we keep going back

This establishment had 2 menus to choose from, either Lunch set Price (2 or 3 courses) or individual price menu. Our party of 4 had 3 courses with wine/beer. The Staff on arrival were welcoming and friendly throughout our visit (Dan was our server). Dan was attentive and helpful but not intrusive. My Garlic allergy was dealt with professionally with Dan checking on my requests with the Chef. Food was served hot and well cooked as requested (Rare etc), Dessert (Apple and Damson crumble with custard was really good:) . Would we go back............Yes definitely.

Went for a family meal to celebrate a birthday. Staff friendly and welcoming as always. Really enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back

Have visited this place several times now and I know it can get rather busy hence the lack of availability when trying to book , a little disappointed this time , never really noticed until tonight with the heavy rain how dark the car park is! Lack of lighting! Was shown to our table across what can only be described as an ice rink , you should really display signs to let people know the floor is slippery. The drinks order was taken and then after several minutes was asked if we were ready to order food,the starter arrived before the drinks! We ordered very similar mains but were presented with wrongly cooked steaks, despite specifying, and incorrect sauce , the onion loaf which is normally cooked correctly was nothing more than a soggy lump of onion cold in the middle. I must say the waitress took all of our comments on board with professionalism and courtesy. Sorry to have a moan but merely disappointed when this type of venue isn't the cheapest but historically it has been worth the premium.

Excellent as always — steaks cooked as requested, drinks never empty and service from Laura was excellent.

Our first visit and had high expectations given the reviews and the price. Firstly our waitress was excellent. We both ordered the prawn and Avocado starter. Mine was fairly bland and lacking any hint of a "bloody Mary" and given my avacardo was too hard to eat without changing my dentures I was a little disappointed. After that the T bone arrived which was well cooked to our liking but Nora said hers had a bit too much gristle so I can't recommend that either but the scallops and sides were excellent hence the good rating as opposed to average. Should of stuck to plan A and ordered the fillet mignon

Came here for a meal with my partner after a shopping trip in Southampton. Food and service was great, we had the new pork doughnut, which was very tasty. Mains had two fillet steals, absolutely top quality melt in your mouth. And then finally a desert cocktail which was the icing on the cake. Overall a fabulous meal.

Hi was really looking forward to my night with my wife ' I felt nice in our surroundings and food was really nice. But because my wife wasn't sure about having a Dessert. The server brought the bill to us .we felt you have been fed now get out .we didn't really get time too digest our food and have another glass of wine it was a real let down as a friend of mine goes their alot.
