Decent boozer, clean n well presented

Went in the late afternoon. Didn't have 4 of the meals we wanted. The food we had was very mediocre

Nice little pub in the middle of Fryern shops. Small free car park with plenty of outdoor seating. Very friendly staff. All COVID restrictions removed, but tables still cleaned after each use. Small seating area outside is proving very popular. Can get busy Friday lunchtimes.

Did not eat here but the place was clean and good service and friendly.cheers

A nice place for food and drink. Would be nice if they had a quiet area without the music/sport and an outside seating area for non smokers. No mash served with the sunday roast.

Very disappointing & extremely frustrating, having carefully booked a table for 2 for a Festive Lunch on 28th November 2023at the Halfway Inn, via the link button on the Festive Fare Menu page of the Greene King web site we could not have a the Festive Lunch! We arrived looking forward to a Festive Lunch but were told that we could not have food from the Festive Fare Menu as our choice of the Festive Menu was not shown on the pub computer & we had not pre selected our choice of food. There is obviously a problem with the communication between the Greene King web site and the staff in the pub! At no stage during the booking process were we asked for our choice of food before arriving at the pub or for a deposit. There being nothing on the standard pub walk in menu we left with out having a drink or meal and took our business elsewhere.

Great food and clean restaurant

Lovely pub with friendly staff and locals. Food is always good with better sized portions and price, compared to most other Green King restaurants. Only let down is the price and upkeep of the pool table but all else makes up for this slight negative

Complete and utter rude staff. Me and my work colleague came around 11 we just wanted a drink however a women was staring a us waiting for us to get out of the car and then pretty much barked at us shouting this is private parking you can’t park here ! Even though we said we were coming in ! She was extremely rude and completely put us off so we decided to go else where due to her. I understand you have people who park there due to the shops but give costumers an actual chance to get out of the car before shouting or perhaps kindly asking ( it’s not hard ) You guys are gonna lose a lot of custom is this so called ‘women’ keeps doing this . Please take this into consideration Because I nor my colleague and i’m guessing a lot of others due to her will never return here. Much better places where else !

Seemed like a brilliant pub and with decent staff and value for money. And went here to see the live singer on friday 20th october. Who was brilliant and should be re booked again. Only small negative is that would be good if they updated their website/ facebook page with updated events/ music. Other than that pretty good boozer

Had lunch here today. Service was terrible. Only one member of staff (whom I felt very sorry for) taking orders, pulling pints, clearing tables and serving meals. Ordered our mains, desserts and coffees at 12.50, got the coffees at 1320, because she was taking other orders and serving meals before she made our coffee, and our main meals at 1335 (minus one rasher of bacon on each plate). Having finished our main meals we waited a further 20 minutes for the desserts. All in all, a very disappointing experience. Brian

Good value for money food selection, quick service and overall quiet pub. Well lit and TV screens dotted about to watch sport.

We booked a table for dinner, the lady who was at the bar when we arrived was busy and only 1 other member of staff on duty, so they were struggling to provide good service. Often nobody behind the bar, one of the ladies certainly didn’t seem to want to be there, fortunately the other lady was lovely, she gave us a perfectly timed check back, and managed to smile too. Our table was clean, menus could have done with a wipe though. Music is a bit loud, it wasn’t very busy when we were there, we had difficulty having a conversation because the speaker was so loud, not a great atmosphere. Fortunately the food quality made up for the environment. Most bizarre there’s no starters on the menu. I really fancied a prawn dish (prawn cocktail, tempura prawns etc), burnt ends, satay chicken, ribs, etc would have been nice. Corned beef hash slice was delicious, very tasty gravy as well. Hunter’s Chicken was scrumptious, perfect topping, moist chicken, fabulous chips too. Pity about the random lettuce leaf and unpleasant coleslaw (tasted like it was from a tin). The all day breakfast was good, however, the bacon was rather fatty and undercooked, and there were no mushrooms. Toilets were very clean. The food was reasonably priced, nice sized portions, and overall a good standard. We would eat here again, but not at a time it’s likely to be busy, understaffing means a long wait. Nobody cleared our table after we finished, and we were sat there for over half an hour watching the miserable member of bar staff eat, sat on a table near us. I guess it was too much to expect her to remove our plates before she took her break, pity. Beware the very expensive drinks! A glass of wine was nearly £9! You can get a decent bottle at retail prices for £6.

We went in mid afternoon to eat. A good atmosphere with sport on the big screens. Lively but not rowdy. Bar staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Ordered food and drinks from the bar. Good fast service and the food was well cooked, tasty, well presented and very good value. Staff checked on us without being obtrusive. A really positive experience.

We both had a lovely lasagne, garlic bread and salad. It came piping hot and was delicious. They were prompt in serving and attentive and it was a relaxed atmosphere.

Lunch time Saturday. Waited 40 mins for food. My fish and chips medley was over cooked, batter dark and hard and fish dry. Pity really, as the pub had a pleasant atmosphere. Shame also that the very pleasant barman was working hard on his own but meant we had a wait to order.

First visit here and the food and staff were excellent. Good food at affordable prices. Will definitely go back

Senior Menu but not Senior friendly. 88 year old with two sticks and a 91 year old colleague told “We do not serve tap water, you get it from the bar. I will get it today but do not ask for service again”. The restaurant side was completely empty at 12.10pm so she was not run off her feet.

A lovely lady called Hannah servered us, and was friendly and helpful when I had some questions about the menu. It was a quiet time of the day, but I noticed how clean and tidy the bar was, even the pool table looked tidy, great experience and look forward to visiting this pub again.

It’s a quiet evening, but the crowd seem friendly and the staff are very polite.

Just moved to the area and visited this pub with my wife and dog for an early dinner and a couple of pints on our first night. Pleasantly surprised how welcoming the staff were. Great selection of food which arrived promptly and tasted lovely. I think I've found my new local!!!

A big Thank you to Holly and the bar staff for looking after us. For such goo value, the food was great and well presented (aimed at my son who was amused) I have to say, I have been going here on and off for years and certainly fealt more at home there than ever. Thank you guys.

Great food comes hot as you would like it. 10/10 for the chef. Service if you dont want your dinner half on your self and half on table.then dont go there.went sunday early evening had 2 fish n chips. Mine was served by a sloppy waiteress. Tilting the plate towards me .with it going on my jeans and some on the table .i was asked how many chips did i lose 🤨😮‍💨.i was given a fresh tarta sauce. A sorry and that was it .so had to pick up chips off table and eat them .i have been there before .but would not step inside there again

Good food & service excellent Sunday roast

Sunny lunchtime visit, decent veggie burger, many options. Had the Grand Prix on the screens but sound down, so you could watch if you wanted but wasn't intrusive. Patio garden with tables and good large umbrellas, roadside rather than green grass but pleasant enough. Service was great, friendly helpful suggestions on menu choices.

It’s gone down hill a lot recently. The pints don’t taste anywhere nearly as nice as they used to and the tables don’t get cleaned properly. I didn’t say anything out of politeness but the staff also charged me incorrectly so probably won’t be going again. They also had the habit of consistently screaming at people who used their car park, even when there were plenty of spare spaces.

Great place to watch live football and to have a coilke of pints in the week. Cheesy chips were OK too.

Dropped in for a drink before heading to a restaurant. Not a pub for a quiet drink and a chat, but if you like shouting and watching football whilst listening to loud music this is the place for you

We always get excellent service and food here . Our hunters chicken was not as hot as we thought it should be last week and we were straight away offered it changed but we said it would be ok . So after our meal we were offered a free coffee to say sorry, which we also said no to but how nice was that to be immediately offered . Great customer service and Hannah was the server who was so helpful

Had 3 course Christmas dinner. Food plentiful, delicious and well presented. Atmosphere was great. Staff friendly yet professional. Would definitely recommend to anyone even if just popping in for a drink.

The lady whom served was lovely but had no milk for coffee or hot chocolate. We were not told for a good five minutes they have to run to the shops first. When they told us it was not long after. She was trying her best. Setting was ok. People friendly.

Dear Halfway Inn I don't know how you only got one star when I meant you to have five! My friend and I were passing, pulled in and had OAP two course meals, thumping good value, and pudding was crumble and custard. Top that! Friendly staff and clientèle.

First time there for Christmas Dinner. Not disappointed. My steak was yummy. My wife loved her turkey and our friend Stuart said the sprouts and brocoli were hard and under cooked. Drinks were reasonable priced. Overall a good experience. Well done the chef and staff for making our Xmas dinner yummy.

Good food, good Beer, good price in good surroundings. What more can you ask for. (Do bear in mind tho there are tv's all around the pub so unless you like your football avoid big match times).
