The Buckshead Hotel in South Lanarkshire

This place no longer serves food which is a let down. It was empty as a result other than 2, 30something's still drunk shouting sectarian bile whilst being pandered to by the barmaid who was either on her phone of outside smoking! This used to be a great pub but seems it's just a place for yobs getting out their face now!

La comida estaba bien. La chica que apareció en propio para servir era bastante agradable. El menú no era hasta la fecha y también muchas veces a contar que pedimos comida que ella tenía que volver y decir que no estaba allí. Ni siquiera tienen granos de café para algunos cafés que fue decepcionante. La comida en sí estaba bien, he tenido peor pero honestamente que he tenido mucho mejor. De hecho Strathaven ofrece mucho mejor.

Pasamos una noche en los dólares (sábado 5/9/15) para cumpleaños hubbys. Tuvimos una comida primero en el salón, que estaba delicioso, y luego nos fuimos al bar para las bebidas. Estaba muy concurrido porque era el espectáculo de Strathaven ese día. El personal se ocupó bien y, a pesar de estar dirigido a sus pies, seguían eficiente y amable.

Fuimos a la hora de comer, pedimos el pastel de carne. Es seguro decir que estoy muy impresionado con el tamaño de la porción y los maravillosos sabores. Las manos hasta el nuevo chef realmente sabe lo que él está haciendo :) El personal era agradable, sonriente y hizo todo lo posible por ayudar. #Pleasesiriwantsomemore

Había pescado n chips anoche. Pescado era magnífica. calidad, personal amable excepcional que siempre están allí para ayudar. un ambiente fantástico.

Good pub to visit for a quick drink. Cheap drink and very friendly staff especially the manageress. Never stayed in the hotel so unable to comment on rooms. Food looks reasonable as is the price.

Mi pareja y yo comimos en un muy lluvioso el lunes por la noche ... Nos recibió una camarera. Por desgracia, había un buen número de cosas que tenía acabaron de ... Pero afortunadamente tienen un menú muy grande, así que no tuvimos ningún problema para encontrar algo que me gustó! La comida era mejor de lo que nos habíamos imaginado! Muy buena comida de pub. Mi única queja leve fue la música de cocinas era tan ruidoso los restaurantes y escuchar dos canciones a la vez es bastante molesto! Aparte de que mi pareja y yo pasamos una velada muy agradable y ¡volveremos!

Paré aquí mientras trabajaba en la zona y me quedé impresionado con la calidad de la habitación por el precio. Habitación es más como una suite con sala de estar separada con un sofá y un cuarto de baño grande con ducha está muy bien. Aunque no hay acceso wifi en las habitaciones es gratis en el bar (buena excusa para una bebida mientras trabajan) y ya que las habitaciones no son en el pub el único ruido de la carretera que va tranquilo bastante temprano. No hay aparcamiento en el hotel pero hay un montón de aparcamiento en la calle cerca del hotel. El personal es muy amable y el restaurante parece bastante bueno, aunque no comí allí debido a una serie de compromisos de trabajo, pero tenía un vistazo y quedé impresionado con la limpieza. Probablemente reserve aquí de nuevo si trabajan en la zona y también sería feliz parar aquí con mi esposa si volvemos a la zona para pasar unas vacaciones en cualquier momento, es conveniente para visitar tanto Glasgow y Edimburgo sin parar en cualquier ciudad (Glasgow media hora, Edimburgo un campo de media hora en la puerta).

Food is outstanding, staff are always friendly and helpful. I enjoy many times in the Buckshead hotel. Their meals are amazing. I recommend this place for anyone including families. Have kids meal available.

Went here with my friends sister, the service was excellent and very prompt. Lovely meal and made to feel very welcome and relaxed. Would highly recommend the Friday night steak club.

I was in yesterday with a friend for a quick lunch and we ordered the sharing platter - The Cheesy Jalapenos were to die for & my friend really loved the Piri Piri Chicken! The staff were really nice and the courtyard in the middle of the hotel where we ate in was a hidden surprise. Defiantly a great venue to visit great atmosphere & the food was delicious.

We had found this place on a Sunday afternoon before bank holiday Monday. The bar had karaoke on which was fun, we decided to go the restaurant part to order food and decided on a sharing platter for two. Absolutely everything on the platter was wrong and the staff were so busy we couldn't complain till afterwards. There was no apology or discount from the bill. We wouldn't eat here again but the bars a good laugh.

We had been before and weren't over impressed but decided to try it again. On our way in I noticed they had a sirloin steak deal on for 7 pounds something and decided to have that, we got the sharing platter to start which was fine, then my partner had a burger which was nice. But my steak came and it would be lucky to be 4oz' (this was after asking the waitress if it would be 8oz to which she said she thought it was). It was meant to be served with sautéed mushrooms and onions to which I got 3 deep fried button mushrooms, basket marks and all. I felt sorry for the waitress who was attentive and ran ragged, running the restaurant by herself. No fault on her part. Only reason I'm giving this 2 stars instead of one is because my partners burger was nice.

Good food, service and value. Would definitely return.£15 for three courses plus glass of wine !But the daily menu looks very good value to.

Had lovely meals here on several occasions. The food is really good and you get good portions. The restaurant and bar area needs updated a wee bit and the hotel area of it definitely does. But nonetheless had a lovely meal and would definitely go back. There's a lot more competition around now which might steer you to other places. I wasn't disappointed.

Been a few times over the past year and enjoyed the food and the experience but after visit yesterday won't be back.Sunday lunch Meal for 4. Unprofessional poor service. Slow, impolite service from the waitress. Informed foods that were off as the last one had been ordered.drinks order .. cans of drinks not opened, tonic water served in the glass bottle and had to ask for a glass for it.Waited an hour for food. 2 veggie burgers, scampi and a steak.steak cold and not as described,and not served with any veg or salad. had to ask for a steak knife. Veggie burgers not as described (frozen Breaded veggie burger) chips skinny fries. Whole meal took hours and was really Poor. Fire in the bar positive feature. Loud inappropriate dance music a pain. Won't be back

This was our first lunch visit since the new owners had taken over. It used to be good for popping in for lunch, however the quality of the food now being served leaves a lot to be desired.The meals had too much seasoning. I had Lasagne which was overpowered by garlic and not enjoyable at all.My partner had Chilli beef and noodles and one taste of his was enough to make me gag. The chili was overpowering in that also.The kids meal of chicken nuggets was actually nice and the curly fries were also nice.The little one had ice cream and it tasted like the most awful cheap ice cream you could find.The young boy who served us couldn't be faulted, his service was impeccable, it was just a pity he had to serve up the food as part of his job.We did feedback that it wasn't pleasant, but can't bring ourselves to go back!Partner also have a very bad tummy not long after we arrived home!Have spoken to other people who have had a similar experience!

Went here wiyh friends for Christmas dinner. 39.99 for a three course meal. Tinned soup. 3 slices of melon or a prawn cocktail which had the added benefit of a game included where you had to find the prawn. No christmas crackers or any complimentries. They had run out of some of the courses on offer even though a booking an deposit was paid weeks in advance.What was described as a sirloin of beef with peppercorn sauce was hidden under the sauce to hide the fact it was not sirloin steak but something more often seen on im a celeb bush tucker trial.Most mains were left due to the poor quality. Chips were of the frozen mcdonalds variety and no veg. The only redeeming factor was the friendly staff who were clearly embarrased at the sub standard food they had to deliver.A bit of a rip off as far as im concerned.

We have been to the bucks in the past and been disappointed mainly by poor service and once with poor food quality. We decided one Saturday night recently to give it another go and this time we were not disappointed.The menu is much the same but the standards of service much improved, the restaurant was reasonably busy but the staff were helpful and quick, a big change from the past. As I mentioned the menu was much the same as in the past but the standard of cooking, presentation and service was 100% better. If the Buckshead managers and staff can keep this up I would happily go back and recommend it to others.

If your looking for a home cooked meal and can't be bothered cooking you need to try here. Been here a few times with family and friends. Nice cosy atmosphere and friendly staff.

We visited as a family of 4 adults and two children. It was a quiet and very pleasant hotel, ideal for the children. The food was very good, especially as it was all reasonably priced. We had to wait a while between courses but the dishes arrived together and were all freshly cooked and piping hot. The waiter, Kyle, was very friendly and helpful.I would recommend this hotel for good pub grub!!

The recommended dishes did not disappoint - but it felt a bit odd ordering a texas BBQ hamburger in Scotland... The Jerked chicken was the other dish. Waiter was friendly, though unhelpful about giving local travel advice. The pace was relaxed, a 2.5 hr meal, most of which, we were the only ones there.

I went here for my birthday. The steak I got was exactly the way I liked it, nice choice of house wines. Service was great even though there was a large crowd in I felt well attended to. The choice of deserts was extensive and the price of all this wasn't over the top.

Excellent value for money. Butternut squash & potato soup starter was delicious. Main courses were good. Highland burger was a big hit. Atmosphere & service could not be faulted. There were 4 of us, all adults but it's a good place to take children.

We have always found the Buckshead to provide tasty, value for money bar food. I have recommended it to friends locally and eaten there about twice a month over the past few years. We booked in advance as a group with 9 adults and 5 children. Arrived at 5.30pm on a Sunday afternoon and ordered our meals. They served us some free corn tortillas and salsa which was a nice touch. No one else was in our part of the restuarant but there were about 3 couples in the bar restuarant area. Service was very, very slow, but as we were a large group we expected the meals to be a bit longer. However, no-one explained the delay or apologised and eventually the meals started to arrive at 7pm- 1hr 30 mins after ordering! Some dishes were very cold (obviously left standing) and others were over cooked, i.e My chips were deep fat fried to the point that there was no potato in them just fat. We had to start eating otherwise food would have been even colder- so some of us had finished eating before others were served. When I complained to the waiter he argued that they had done their best and it was a large group but he would let the chef know. We have eaten there regularly over the past few years as a large family group and although our experience has varied over time it has never been as poor as this. We asked for the bill and there was not even an apology for the wait time and no deduction for the meals that were not up to a reasonable standard. I won't be recommending the bucks for food and will not be returning. Very disappointed.

Another restaurant that I didn't seek out but merely stumbled upon whilst in the area looking for food. Initially I looked at another pub a few yards away but as there was no sign of laid tables, nor a menu displayed outside, we opted to try the Bucks Head further up. Although there was no menu displayed outside we spotted the laid tables within. We were greeted by a pleasant young girl from the staff and a lovely real coal fire burning on the rear wall. This fire was too tempting not to sit close to so that's exactly what we did. Weather outside was raining heavily, it is Scotland after all so Sundays are usually wet anyway, and the fire gave a lovely atmosphere to the simple but clean decor.The young waitress gave us our menus and took our drink orders. I would say the menu had a lot of choices on it but we opted for the meal deal of two mains for £12.95 . Our drinks , Pint of Guiness and Chenin Blanc wine ( large glass) were promptly served and reasonably priced...I would say on a par with most local pubs ( not overpriced city pubs). Our dinner took around twelve minutes to arrive , which I'm happy with as it proves its not sitting waiting on a microwave, and was presented plainly and simply...just the way it should be. Our dishes were chicken madras curry with rice and a small an bread, and chicken balmoral with fresh tatties and fresh sliced carrots without the green leaves still on...why do restaurants keeps the silly leaves on carrots? We also opted for the extra side of chips. The curry was not too spicy , just right for me and thankfully wasn't still boiling in the metal dish it was served in...well done chef , the rice was nice and fluffy and the nan bread was slightly herby which I also liked. My wife's chicken balmoral was very tasty and not over sauced and the veg was fantastic. Unfortunately the side of chips, although a very generous portion, seemed to be of the frozen type . The chips did not detract from the taste of our food but everything else seemed fresh, simple and tasty. I think the chips were the only disappointment of our experience.Staff attentive without being overbearing .

We went here today for lunch with our twin boys, I often drive by here and think it looks nice inside. It was lovely, warm and cozy atmosphere with a coal fire burning. The girl behind the bar was very friendly and talked to our wee boys. The food was lovely and tasty and very good value for money. Would definitely recommend and would go back.

Came here for a pub lunch and it was asll pretty average. Place was very quiet but still had to wait for service at times. Food was okay but not very exciting. Okay for a pub lunch but wouldn't hurry back for dinner. Prices were okay though.

We recently moved to Strathaven and decided to try lunch at a local pub while the kids were at school. We picked the Buckshead as we knew it served food and were happy with our choice. On the plus side, the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. On the downside there is not much of a beer selection (I had a John Smith's Extra Smooth) and the service was a little slow. It wasn't just us as I overheard someone else complaining that the food was taking too long. While there isn't a lot of choices in Strathaven when it comes to pub lunches I would definitely go back again.
