We visited for Sunday lunch family of 3 adults 2 children (14 & 11) plus 3 dogs Had a lovely table inside plenary of room and very comfortable Good service prompt and charming 3 of us had roast dinners (2 roast beef 1 roast chicken) with the biggest Yorkshire puddings ever 1 had fish and chips then 1 children’s chicken strips with chips and beans changed to broccoli (unusual child) Portions are huge even defeated teenage boy with hollow legs! Even the children’s potion was huge. The roast beef was soooo tender and stuffing with the chicken was greatly enjoyed Food is fresh and hot and delicious! We normally love a pudding but felt too full this time. Good value for money 5 people would highly recommend.

Went here today for late lunch. Sat in the gazebo, lovely except for a wasp who wanted to play. I had a bar meal, fish finger sandwich. You are never too old for a fish finger sarnie and thos was superb. Chilli beef, hallumi burger and child gougons and chunky chips saw all four of us beaten, not a case of quantity over quality though, BOTH quality and quantity were there with bells on.

A pleasant enough setting and a nice pub. Service was friendly and not too over-the-top. Food was good without being exceptional. Prices were a little excessive for the experience. There is plenty of car parking right outside and the establishment is very handy if you are visiting Blickling Hall. Overall, I would rate it as 7 out of 10, losing the three points on pricing issues.

Dropped in on the off chance after visiting the NT property. COVID-19 arrangements were in place and on ordering drinks at the outside bar we were given a time when our food order would be taken at the table. Sure enough on time a friendly waitress came to take our order. 15-20 minutes later we had our food. The kids portions were substantial and of good quality. My roast beef was absolutely superb, nice thick sliced rare beef, with a large Yorkshire, great roasties and veg. I’d put it in my top 5 lifetime roast dinners, up there with the best of them! Thanks!

Overnight stay on the 23/01 - Staff at the pub are very friendly and provide an excellent level of customer service. We had an evening meal in the lounge bar which was nice and quiet. The food is reasonably priced, freshly prepared, very generous portion sizes and tasted great. Our room was very comfortable and even had a four poster bed. Breakfast was served in the lounge bar and again this was fantastic. After checking out we went for a walk around the Blickling Estate and were given great advice on routes from staff.

Situated in a beautiful spot, this hotel is a little gem. There is plenty of parking, lots of quirky features in the rooms and best of all, fabulous staff who were friendly, attentive and very welcoming. Room rates are very reasonable and the room we had was comfortable, spacious and well-designed. Breakfast was the best I have ever had. The omelette was incredible - packed full of fresh and tasty ingredients, the right consistency and generously portioned. As was the 'half' breakfast. We had a lovely stay here and would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We booked a table for six, two vegetarian for this lunchtime. The Pub itself was very busy but the friendliness of the staff was exceptional. The food? Everyone had a different meal and everyone was pleasantly surprised by the quality and the quantity of the food, Personally I had the Fish Pie, full of succulent fish, an amble portion and very well seasoned, helping to bring out the flavour of the fish. The Price? I thought was very reasonable, £20 a head including a large soft drink, with half the party too full for a dessert while the other three ate and enjoyed their afters as well.Would I reccomend it? Certainly, see the 5 stars I gave it above. To the staff, thanks for the service and the smiles

On a first visit to Blickling Hall, I was amazed to find just how close the pub was. It really couldn't be better placed, & after a very enjoyable visit to the Hall, it was so nice to decamp here for lunch. We had hoped on a cold January day to have found a roaring log fire & were slightly disappointed that this was not the case. Being a weekday in January & lateish, we had no difficulty in getting a table but I imagine in the summer, particularly at weekends, it must be extremely busy.Having been told how good the food is here, we weren't exactly knocked by it but as vegetarians, our choice is always more limited - I must say the scampi & chips LOOKED wonderful!! Service was good but I wasn't impressed by the waiter bringing our drinks on a tray swimming in liquid, A quick wipe around with a cloth was all that was needed. This is a lovely old building in a great location but fell just short of me being able to give an excellent rating. Some room for improvement I think.

We love it here! We are a group of walkers from Norfolk Nordic Walking who regularly exercise at Blickling every Wednesday. We have come here twice (as a large group) for a post-walk lunch and will most definitely be coming back. Just before Christmas 25 of us descended for our annual Festive Meal. We were treated superbly by all the staff. Our food came out quickly, and hot, and at the same time. It was super tasty with a great choice to suit all.m Drinks were served at the table rather than queuing at the busy bar. We really all felt very looked after. PLUS it was service with a smile! At such a busy time of year, that can be often neglected but not here. We will be back...!

Booked as a surprise for my husband as we had stayed here over 20 years ago on our honeymoon. We love the setting on the Blickling Estate which is such a special place to visit. The Bucks Arms is a proper pub which is relaxed, friendly with excellent staff. Tom behind the bar was a fantastic bloke. We stayed in a room with a four poster bed and ate a fabulous meal at night. I am vegan and although there wasn't anything on the menu they offered to adapt some of the dishes or make something different if I wanted. The portion sizes are quite large! Breakfast was great too with lots of choices. I don’t want to big it up too much because we don’t want it to become so popular that we can’t get in because we’ll definitely be going back!

The Bucks Arms is ideally situated for a trip to Blickling Hall or a lovely weekend break. Pros: The room sizes are great, four poster bed. Oldyworld feel to the whole place. The staff were excellent throughout are stay. Very friendly and helpful. The meals were fantastic. Cons: The first night my wife got 3 nasty flea bites on her leg from the room. On the Sunday morning we were awoken by tables being moved below. A bit of consideration for guests first thing in morning would be appreciated. When it came to ordering, the menu was very extensive and all the dishes sounded delicious! There is plenty of variety to suit every pallete. Despite how busy it was it did not take long for our food to arrive, I ordered Crispy chilli beef and noodles which came in a very large bowl. A weekday lunchtime snack was spoilt by the, usually, excellent Lacons bitter being unusually very bitter. So bitter that we needed to turn it into shandy. We ordered the, promising sounding crab burger - which came with chips and salad. There appeared a generous helping but the burger was just 'pap' (similar to baby food), it did not taste of crab. It seemed to be just mashed potato and onion with maybe some mayonnaise. The chips were crispy shells full of oil. A lovely warm summer day spoilt. No second chance for such a long journey.

Me and a friend, went to Blickling, yesterday (August 29th), we enjoyed a pleasant walk, around Blickling Estate, and then a game of Croquet, after the game of Croquet, we went in The Buckinghamshire Arms, my friend had a glass of Orange Juice (with ice), I also had a glass of Orange Juice (with ice) and a dish of hand cut fries, the Barman was friendly, we sat at a table outside, we were very impressed with the service, because a waitress lifted my friend's unfinished glass of Orange Juice, by mistake, while clearing the table, she immediately replaced the glass, with a fresh full glass of Orange Juice, yesterday, was the first time I have visited The Buckinghamshire Arms, and I will definitely visit The Buckinghamshire Arms (a very nice Pub, in a scenic setting), again, in the future.

The food was very nice and the meal was worth it, but the service was very poor, the staff forgot we needed to be shown to our table until I asked, and it nearly took an hour. At the bar as I tried to attract attention and service I was ignored in favour of other guests, this was very disappointing as most of the staff seemed to have little interest in keeping guest happy! Like one of the other reviewers, this was a Birthday treat for me. We split our visit to Blickling Hall doing the house first and then having the pre-booked lunch before going back to wander in the gardens, where there were lots of opportunities to sit and digest not just the views - but the huge lunch. The Scallops and Pork Belly were lovely and the Roast Sirloin with Yorkshire and Roast potato was yummy, the beef was thick cut and pink, so much of it that I had a "doggy bag" for a sandwich in the morning. On leaving I noticed I was not the only one clasping a foil packet. Highly recommended.

We only wanted a light lunch but there were plenty of choices for lighter or more substantial lunches on the menu. We both went for the Coxford’s Ploughman’s and they happily substituted extra cheese instead of the salt beef. The food came quickly and was very well presented. Even though on the menu as a ‘Lighter Lunch’ it was a substantial ploughman’s with two delicious wedges of warmed ciabatta bread, two pieces of pork pie, two types of pickle, pickled onion, pickled gherkins, celery sticks, apple slices and tomatoes. Normally it would come with salt beef and Norfolk mature cheddar. It was all delicious and very filling. If we lived in the area we’d definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Visited on the spur of the moment and was most welcomed upon entry. The food was marvellous and the wait staff did a terrific job. However, the young man who was the manager was very rude and abrasive. It was a rather sunny afternoon and the establishment was reasonably busy, and the manager seemed unable to communicate in a polite or well spoken manner both to customers and to his employees. In fact I heard him shout and use profanities towards his colleagues numerous times which really is not what you expect in such a charming little pub. It put quite the dampener on our visit and I was quite appalled. We felt somewhat rushed by this young man, upon inquiry discovering he is named Jack, although he was vindicated by the excellent food and service from his harrassed employees.

Very busy on arrival but seated fairly quickly at our pre booked table. Good choice of drinks especially Gin and Wine selections. Unfortunately the wine chosen was either corked or sat in open bottle too long as had to be sent back as undrinkable. Menu choice very good and all meals were delious with plenty on the plate. Slight complaint that the plates for the main meal were extremely hot which caused the waitress issues passing to us as she was unable to get around the table. Dangerously hot plates could have caused burns to customers, this needs to be addressed..

Lovely service and great food. Much more of a food pub than a drinking pub. Had a seafood platter and wasn't disappointed. Absolutely delicious and great big portions! Good value for money. Will come back

Went here with my wife and three kids after a day out. Great menu for kids and adults. I had the best main I’ve had for a long time. I had the Cajun flat iron steak. Delicious!!! My wife also loved her pork stroganoff. Highly recommend eating here!

Stayed this week on business and was greeted by Jack M whom really knew what he was doing. Room 4 good and rustic feeling with mod cons. Evening meal was from specials (Recc) calamari starter and sword fish main. Great taste and presentation. Breakfast salmon and eggs. Could not fault this place and would use again. Thanks guys

Excellent food and a great pint of Adnam's Bitter, visited for lunch, the restaurant was very busy even mid week in late March, I would definitely recommend booking to avoid disappointment. Good menu with some excellent food & seafood specials Food nicely presented and the service was both friendly and efficient. Will certainly return !

First meal at this restaurant and the boys who was working this evening 24th, were absolutely fantastic and genuine. Just found the bar area was very small and was unable to have a drink before our meal. I had the steak and was cooked to perfection, and my boyfriend had the burger which he thoroughly enjoyed. Will come again in the summer..

Lovely walk called in for a table for two and were seated with menu. Waited for 30 minutes for someone to take our order other tables served before us. We got up went to pay for drinks and manageress said “ didn’t know you were there!” Such a shame as locals and won’t be using Colchester inns again!

Not one of our party could fault the choices and the balance of flavours for each course we ate. They willingly placed us in a quiet space to hold a family discussion. A lovely setting. Faultless service. Delicious food.

Serving staff were excellent and helpful. The menu was comprehensive and made a point about providing local food which is good. The food however was a let down in my case although others enjoyed their food. I ordered pan fried lamb’s liver and was advised that it would be served pink, fab, I like liver served pink, sadly it was very over cooked, tough and in parts bitter. The creamy mash was ok, the jus/gravy was lovely. The onions and bacon appeared to have been cooked ahead and both were soft and sloppy. The tender stem broccoli was woody and inedible, most of the stems had no top, just the stem. I understand the concept of al dente but these were tough. The place needs a spruce up, my chair was stained, the cutlery smeary and the toilets clean but scruffy and had dodgy flushing, the sinks had taps dripping. I would recommend The Buck Arms as others enjoyed their meals but would choose something that requires less precision eg pan frying.

Having lived in Norfolk for many years I have quite low expectations of local eateries but this time the Buck takes the biscuit. Not at all busy but having waited almost an hour for the starters to arrive we were told that the order had never even made it to the kitchen. We just left and it is highly likely we will not return until they sharpen up their customer service. Strange because the Black Boys in Aylsham ( same group) is almost always very good.

We arrived on one of the busiest days of the year and it was HEAVING. People were queuing for the bar either to order drinks, ask for tables or pay their bill. Throughout I thought the staff dealt with it calmly and helpfully. We stayed overnight, the room was huge with a four poster bed overlooking the hall through the front window. Linen was clean and fresh and the bed was comfortable. Tea bags and a kettle were provided as was a TV although we didn’t use it. You can take dogs there too. Another thing that I regard as a ‘plus point’ was the lack of mobile phone coverage, its a bit of a black hole although I did find that I had a signal outside the pub (Vodafone). Also WiFi is patchy but that’s a feature of the area, not the pub itself.

Unable to eat at any of our nearby favourites, we tried the Bucks Arms on the recommendation of a local. Situated next door to Blickling Hall we had high hopes for this hostelry. The description was good food, ample portions. Whenever I hear the latter, though, it always prompts the question whether quality is being sacrificed for quantity....

We got off to a bad start what with having to move tables and a flustered waitress, who did not listen to us (won't go into all the details here) and just raced off to fetch the manager. We finally ate an excellent meal, but far, far too much. I only ate a fraction of my main course as I was fairly full after my starter and I really had little room for the dessert, which I would have omitted if we had not pre-ordered. We had to send in a cheque for £20 to reserve the table and the special Christmas meal and fill out a form and we ended up paying by cash (luckily we had enough on us) as their card machine was having problems with the WiFi. Luckily also that we still have a cheque book lol. There was little room for folks who just wanted a drink as tables were laid for meals and those that weren't did not have any notices saying eg. reserved from 12.00pm, which was why we had to move. I've read the negative comments written by others and on the whole agree with them. The staff cannot work under pressure. They were all chasing their tails and the atmosphere was spoilt. If they had less tables and more experienced staff it would greatly improve things. However, the pub is next to Blickling Hall and has no problem drawing in clientele. It has a captive audience. BTW dogs are allowed in the drinking areas of the pub, which is great. We might return, but probably only for a drink - and with our dog.

We often visit the Bucks and so it seemed appropriate to have a pre Christmas family get together and we weren’t disappointed. Despite how busy they were the service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. I had the moules which were delicious. Hubby had the skate wing which was pronounced the freshest one he’d ever tasted. Kids had the burgers and were actually defeated by the portion size. We didn’t have room for dessert.

Despite what others may say, we found that this place is very good for food quality and quantity. The main meal of mussels is truly outstanding but so was the pigeon breast and the mixed game suet pudding. They also allow dogs in only one of the eating rooms so, if you plan to bring a dog, make sure that you specify because they won't allow the dog into the other room (understandably). Service was excellent, we have to say. Gary and his colleagues behind the bar worked their magic and enabled us to have a brilliant meal. We will return.

I had a roast turkey dinner as my main course. I have never before been served turkey with gristle on each slice. The meal was not attractively presented on the plate. A group of us went to Christmas dinner, The dessert was served and then spoons passed round I had to ask for a fork. For £29 I don’t feel it was value for money. The table decorations comprised of vases holding one dead antirrhinum in each vase plus a piece of plastic foliage. I went for another Christmas meal the same week to another hotel, price £26.50 there was no comparison it was superb. I won’t be returning to the Bucks
